Check engine light came on, took my car to advance auto parts (on Lee ave.) toget testedJeremy ( at advance auto parts ) said there was a misfire on cylinder 5, he said most likely it s a spark plug but could be several other things. After purchasing the spark plug asked if they can put it in and he said they do not offer that service however he referred me to smith family automotive.Jeremy said a young man in his 40 s was great, he described him as looking like a Viking.Upon arrival I was greeted by a long haired long bearded gentleman named Mike. (He was EXTREMELY POLITE which was very much appreciated, in usual tabb fashion I talked his ears off and he was still incredibly friendly and personable.The man Jeremy had mentioned was the guy working on my car his name was /is Grant.They were both genuinely kind people and made me feel welcomed, Mike had answered all of my questions and even listened when I started telling him about my cats and life situations.Grant worked really fast and put the new spark plug in my car, they said the coil wasn t the problem and despite installing a new spark plug cylinder 5 was still misfiring, they told me that I could drop the car off in the morning if I wanted to leave it with them but I have to work very early (5:30-6am) and wasn t comfortable walking to work from there and wanting to be on time I took it to them during my lunch break at 11, though they didn t have time to work on it between 11 & 3 on Tuesday I came back around 130/2pm Wednesday and was greeted in the same respectful manor (by Mike) he promptly took my key and later grant walked by and checked to see how I was doing (as I broke down crying at work and was sent home early) I am currently there waiting to hear what caused the misfire on cylinder 5 and will update maps after the work on my car has been completed.Update my engine probably needs to be replaced which is several thousand dollars however they did everything they could to diagnose the problem and fix it, unfortunately it just was not a simple fix. Looks like I might be looking for another used car as the price for an engine costs as much or more than the price that I paid for my car itself.Still exemplary service.

I want to start off by saying that this place was a God sent, I just moved to NC last month and never been in this area before. Unfortunately I had got a flat tire and this place was super close to where I got my flat. The staff was so nice to me and even gave me a loaner so I could get home which was 37 miles away. It was the end of the day and my tire is unique they were able to get it the next day and fix my tire. I thank them for the quickness , their kindness and hospitality and I would definitely use them again. I read through some of your reviews and want to let you know I appreciate that you do not sell used tires to customers. SMH You just can't make some people happy....`I will soon be requiring new tires for my vehicle and will be visiting and patronizing your establishment for sure.Thanks so much, Keep fighting the good fight.

They were recommended to me. I am happy with thier service. I highly recommend them, myself. A reliable mechanic is hard to find and at Smith family automotive they are reliable. They have reasonable prices. Efficient and quality service. Everyone is polite.

Day before Thanksgiving I was driving alone and halfway to my destination and all of a sudden my car was acting up. Looking for an auto repair place, I stumbled into this place. The staff was wonderful and squuezed me in to their already busy day. Oscar was my angel that day. He fixed me up and I was on my way.

I've been doing business with Smith family auto for several years, I've always been taking well care of, fair prices great service . I won't take my truck anywhere else but Smith Family auto! Couple years ago my truck computer chip was bad and left me on the side of the road. I called Grant, and within 30 minutes he had a tow truck to me. That's what I call service..! I just had a set of new tires put on my truck, and yep he took care of it, he had the best price in town. And I checked prices after he did the work. I'm writing this review because I shouldn't have even doubted them. Great job guys..keep up the good work. Evidently doing something right, just moved to a much larger place than where they originally opened. Two thumbs up plus the 5 stars.

Update: If I could do zero stars I would. Confirmation that when you reinstalled the AC compressor while working on the power steering pump issue your technician messed something up. Your reply in pointing out multiple issues with vehicle, AC was not one of them. The lights were also all on because of the ignition coil going.Also, how did you work on the vehicle and not know all motor mounts need replaced and that the engine was not positioned correctly?!?!?!?Definitely will not be backAlthough friendly a bit on the expensive side. But what has me giving 2 stars is, although I can't prove it, very strange that for 2 years I have never had a problem with my AC. I have put close to 60,000 miles in this timespan on the vehicle. It has been in park running with AC on for up too an hour and then driven for 2-3 hours. And not 1 problem with the AC. I get it back from them and the AC is not working properly. So I call and they say bring it back in. It then is explained to me that whoever put the new AC condenser on messed up the threads on the 4 bolts because they noticed they were loose when they originally had the vehicle and that it also appears to be leaning and that I would need a new condenser at a cost of $550.00.Very suspicious since I have not had the AC worked on at all. And why did they not mention the bolts being loose and at an angle when they had the vehicle originally? There was no problem replacing the ujoint with out letting me know then telling me I needed an alignment.Like I said, can't prove it. But I will definitely not be back!

Don't recommend this place for anything! I wouldn't even give it 1 star but unfortunately I had to just to tell our experience. My son went there for an inspection and they decided to "fail" it because his tail lights were "too dark" and a tie rod supposedly had some play. Really!? It's a 2002 truck and never heard of anything so ridiculous considering it's the same as it's always been and never had an issue. Then they made him pay $23.75 before they would give him the keys back. They told him, if he gets them fixed they'll put that money towards the inspection but only if he goes to them. Again, are you kidding me!? First of all, we never paid for an inspection that failed nor do we know of anyone who has. We only paid once a vehicle passed. Second, we went to another place and they passed it without any problems or hesitation like every other year. I think they put anything down to scam some money off someone who doesn't know better. I will be taking this issue much farther if they don't return our money and making this known to the whole community. Quite scamming people!

I didn't have an appointment and needed an inspection for my vehicle. They said they could inspect the vehicle and there would be a little wait of about 30 minutes. I waited in the waiting area where there were many chairs, a couch, many magazines and a television. They also had snack and drink machines. They were very friendly. My vehicle was ready in the time expected. I paid my bill and they thanked me for coming in.

I recently moved into Sanford area and passed by Smiths Family Tire business and decided to call before coming in, Mr. Dwight handled the call and made sure I came in to get my new tires gave me great price and treated me like as if I was by old customer. I will definitely come ad back and will recommend my friends and family.

Hands down the best shop in town. I followed my mechanic to their shop when he moved and the service I have always gotten from him also matches the service I get from Smiths. There are others in town who can do good work but I repeat my business with Smiths because they truly do care. Yeah, they may not be perfect, no place is. But I have never experienced anything like others who gave one star. Those are just not accurate at all.

This place is so family friendly. The best place to take any problems for car. They are honest and trust worthy of telling you the issues for your car. I have been a long time customer for years and i will drive 100 miles just to see them.

I have been choosing Smith Family Automotive in Sanford as my go to car repair servicer for the last year because I find them to be honest, truthful and fair in their practices and pricing. The repairs, inspections and tire service they have done on my car were excellent. I highly recommend them if those values are important to you.

Eye poor service. Took my car in on a Monday at 8:30. Called at 1:30 to see what was happening and was told they were working on it and would call me. I heard nothing. I called Tuesday and was told they had to order a part it would be in Wednesday. Since I hadn t heard anything I called backed Friday morning they hadn t even looked at it again. Said they would probably to get to it that day. I asked probably or would because I needed my car back and if they couldn t get to it I would come and pick it up. Finally at 4:00 they called me and said they couldn t fix it I could come and get it. When I picked it up they said they would call the dealership and ask them what needs to done and call me. That was over a week ago and I ve heard nothing. Not that I would take it it back anyway. Very disappointed all it would have taken was a phone call letting me know what was going on and they couldn t do it. Think twice before taking your car here.

I went here today on my way to work I moved from NY and yet to find a automotive place I liked so I thought I'd try them being there next to my job and if my car needed work it would be awesome convinces. So I went on to ask about a engine light with hoping that injector fluid helped it but needed my light reset (I offered to even pay for the 2 min job) .I explained I had to be at work the guy told me 25 min so I called work to let them know I would be late. well 35 min later I went back in and was trying to explain I had to go to work and I was dismissed pretty much. So I wasted alt that time and was late to work. Well let's just think if it wasn't the fluid the work that has to be done is about 500 dollars and if making the first impression had been better I would have gladly gave them the business and good word as I always have customers at my resturant asking about stuff that would have gave them great references and more business .they seemed a busy place so maybe they could care less but I guess it's not the "family" friendly garage that is advertised. guess I'm still looking for a mechanic :(

I guess they do a good job. Didnt really have nothing drastic done. I know it took 3 hours for an oil change and inspection nice people though

My wife came this morning to get a used tire put on her van. Later in the day the same tire blew out on the road. Called to see about getting it replaced, and they want me to order a new tire now! My first experience with this place was ok, but after this, never will i come here again!
