This is a diamond in the rough. We all know that it s hard to find a good and honest mechanic. John s automotive is fantastic! Extremely nice and very reasonable. Let me say it again HONEST! They resolved my truck issue quickly. I thought I needed cv joints or bearings. It turned out to be bad tires and they got me in and out of the shop in less than 3days. They also worked on my wife s vehicle and unfortunately I had to take it to a dealership. I highly recommend them. I will be taking my vehicle s to them anytime I need a mechanic. Thank you guys so much!

This was absolutely incredible! We where on vacation, I went to gas up my car, I turned my car on and this loud clanking noise was coming out of the engine I was very concerned as we where only at the front end of our vacation and needed to drive very long distances to get to the other destinations. I looked up local mechanics in the area, which there where many. One was recommended by the front staff of the resort which I called three times with no response. My wife was intuitively pulled to, an advertisement for John's Automotive and said call them. I called and a very polite sounding lady answered and told me to "bring the car in and we will take a look at it right away".Slowly driving with this loud clanking coming out of the engine I arrived to their shop. My first thought was this is going to be something special especially when I saw a beautiful donkey outside, which we later found out was rescued a now has a beautiful life, we took this as a good omen and it was.I met John he came outside asked me to turn the car on and from listening to my vehicle he told me that the timing chain is what's making that loud sound. He further went on to explain that there are two shields that are at each side of the timing chain that keeps the chain in place and it is possible one of them broke, (which turned out to be the case later, after replacing the engine he showed us our old motor and the broken piece, which was exactly what he had thought it was).He advised me that it will be better / less expensive to swap out the engine.I was shocked as I thought not only will this be very expensive as well as take a lot of time to get fixed, again we where on vacation. John told me he can get a motor and take two days maybe three to put it in, this was labor day weekend. He gave a price for everything which I found reasonable. I called my mechanic in New York and informed him what John told me and sent him a video of how the car was sounding as well as the price quoted. My mechanic in New York said go for it or buy a new car as my car had close to 300,000 miles on it. At that moment I was not going to buy a new car.John's wife, Judy, was very professional and helpful as she found me a car rental, enterprise, and drove me to and from enterprise to pick up and drop off the rental. Incredible!I dropped my car of on Wednesday and got a text on Friday afternoon which I didn't receive until Sunday stating that the car was ready for pick-up! I could not believe it. We where supposed to go back home on Tuesday and where able to do so. We drove two hours back from Hot Springs to John's shop close to Lake Lure where we had spent the first half of our vacation, (which we planed a year prior), Judy took us to enterprise 26 miles away to drop of the rental took us back to their shop to pick up our car with a newer used engine, 95K miles on it, of which John told us we can get another 150,000 miles. We where able to go back home on our scheduled day. We live in New York. Amazing!I told my mechanic in New York how fast this was done and he stated in N.Y. it probably would have taken two weeks if not longer.Judy told me that John drove two hours one way to get to the place where they found a motor with less miles on it than the one he was previously going to install, to install into our car. Talking about going the extra miles, (driving), WOW!We have now driven close to three thousand miles and our car is diving great has a stronger feel we have a Mustang.I would definitely recommend John's Automotive to anybody who has a problem with their car local or vacationer's. Incredible service, very professional, John has great knowledge, a great personality, and Judy his wife was very professional and also has a great warm personality, a family business that went the extra miles for us!We are really grateful for everything you've done and that we did not have to cancel our long planned and needed vacation, you made it happen for us.Thank You SO MUCH John and Judy!

John's Automotive was able to to place my brakes and rotors within a couple of hours and at no notice beforehand. I just contacted them that morning, brought my car in, and they got it done. John was even nice enough to give me a ride to and from where in was staying, which was twenty minutes from the shop. I would absolutely go there again and recommend them to anyone in the area in need of good and fast service.

It was a holiday and John answered the phone and I told him I situation, and he said he ll bring it on over and I did he was the nicest, polite helpful. He showed me what was wrong with my car. He fixed it for low fare, I think I found my new mechanic. Thank you, John.

I own a 2013 Chevy Silverado 3500 with a 6.6L diesel for my excavating business and have had nothing but problems with it. When I me John I could tell he had the experience and knowledge to "properly" diagnose the issue with my vehicle. He was honest about what I needed and, more importantly, what I didn't. I broke down near his garage and he met me at my vehicle with his scanner to confirm why it wasn't starting and then pulled me to his garage with his truck. He did this even though his worker was on vacation and he was the only person tending to the shop at that time. John got my truck back on the road the next day and it's running great. I would highly recommend John especially to anyone who owns a GM vehicle.

I Have a 1978 Ranchero that has spent 5 years in a variety of other shops because the instrument cluster was trashed and still hadn't been repaired properly. John had me on the road in three weeks. I can not recommend him highly enough.Service: ElectricalService: Electrical

They was fast and john and his wife are very kind and did an amazing job on my car. They got my car working like normal again .They was also able to work with my schedule with no issue on when I could bring the car in . If I ever need them I will bring my car back to them for now on . Thanks

John's is excellent. He knows what he is doing and does it well. My 2003 Jetta had turbo problems and John replaced the hoses before considering the turbo replacement which fixed the problem. Did the brakes, also, and oil. His prices are less than other places. Wish I could give this place 10 stars!!! John and his team are genuine and honest. Also they let me hang out in the shop with them while I waited on my ride to pick me up. Gave me a fantastic price and had my car ready within 24 hours. Could not recommend them more. I live in Charleston, SC and honestly I would make the trek back up to NC the next time something goes wrong just because of how awesome John's Automotive is.Services: Air conditioning, Oil change

I could not ask for a better mechanic! John was kind, courteous and provided great work for a great value. His oil change covered an inspection which found a very dangerous wheel situation on my sons car, because of his thorough work my son is safe on the road. And being a BMW owner myself, it is hard to find someone who can provide quality maintenance without overcharging! Highly recommended!Services: Transmission, General repairs & maintenance

My air-conditioning went out so I researched locally owned auto repair shops. I gave John's a call. He completely the diagnostic, gave me the recommendation and price. He was able to repair it while I waited at a very reasonable rate. Very impressed and I do recommend him.

Incredible service!!! We arrived in from out of town and needed a new brake pad. John was able to fix out car the same day. On top of that, he drove my husband back to our rental AND drove the car back to us since we didn't have a second car!!!! Thank you John!!!! Great price on top of all of that!

My engine malfunction light came on while we were on vacation there. John got us in right away and determined our problem (carburetor). He called around to find the part and when he couldn't find one that would arrive before our departure date, he didn't leave us hanging. He gave us suggestions on where to go to get it done instead of forcing us to stay longer to keep our business - which so many others would have done. We were out of town on vacation when we began to have brake issues on our Tahoe. John was very accommodating, and went above and beyond to make sure our vacation stayed on track. I would 100% recommend him to anyone in need! Top notch work!

Driving to the area for a vacation, we noticed a fluid rapidly leaking onto the ground. Having no idea what the problem was, I did a Google search for mechanics near where we were staying and chose this shop based on location and Google rating.John quickly diagnosed the issue as a problem with the water pump and gave me an estimate. His price was reasonable and the parts he used were reputable.My only regret is that there are not mechanics like him where I live!If you are in the area of Rutherfordton, you should give John's Automotive a chance to repair your vehicle....I don't believe you will be disappointed!Services: Auto water leak repair, Engine repair

John replaced the injector pump on my 6.5 diesel and he went above and beyond trying to bomb proof my truck. Very satisfied. He was on target as to the amount of down time that I would experience. He was very booked, but completed the work by the time he had stated. John has serviced several of our vehicles. Each time the job was done right, on time and at a very thoughtful cost. Depending on the situation, John may be able to give you options on a repair. Many of the higher volume shops will simply quote you their preferred source part pricing with little options. John can sometimes find a better price with another source, but sometimes the tradeoff is time. John did work on our Subaru and he showed to me that he was very capable of diagnosing the problems we had with the vehicle. John is a very humble and meek Christian that will not quit till he finds the problem and fixes it. Excellent customer service and reasonable!

John has performed work on all our family vehicles (both foreign and domestic). This includes everything from putting my car on the rack to diagnose "that clicking sound" to replacing the engine in my son's vehicle and just about everything in between. I am from out of town and had a tire noise that was not right. I am so lucky to have found John. He took my car immediately and diagnosed the problem. A few of the lug nuts were loose. He checked the brakes just to be sure, tightened all the lug nuts and sent me confidently on my way. And then he said I owed him nothing because he didn t actually fix anything. Extremely fast service, very knowledgeable and indeed helpful. I came in the shop with my 15 GT experiencing issues with a misfiring cylinder and bad cam shaft sensors. John was able to knock it out in no time by finding and resolving the issue. Highly recommend this place .
