I have known Marvin Barrett for more than 15 years. He and his family at Ted's have worked on several of my families vehicles and we have always been very happy with their service. Honest and dependable every time! I would not go anywhere else for my transmission needs.

I had Teds service my transmission last year. Unfortunately, a few weeks back my transmission was having some issues again. I brought the truck back to Teds and worked with Marvin who was able to get my truck back in working order again! Marvin was great and took care of the issue. these guys stand by their work 100% and are trustworthily and honest! I wish these guys did more then just transmissions as I've lost all trust and dread taking my truck to any big box store auto mechanics. I would highly recommended Teds! Very Straight forward honest family business, I will be using this business if I need any of company vehicle transmissions looked at!LET ME EXPLAIN WHY I found them online because of the convenient location.I got here ready to 3-4k or more for a transmission repair I thought I sure enough needed.Ted, took my 2013 F-150 XL for a test drive and came back to tell me he couldn t replicate what I described to him add my problem and that was just such Great news.Here s prices are very fair!They won t tell or sell you something you don t need.I thank you Ted s Automatic Transmission!

Ted and his team are AMAZING!!!! I can t say this enough. I drive a 2010 Toyota Corolla and my transmission broke down after putting 250k miles on the car. AAMCO in Cary NC wanted so much money to fix my car and at one point AAMCO told me to throw away my car and buy a new one. I was feeling completely hopeless until I found Ted and Marvin. The quality of work that they performed on my car is incredible. I ve always taken great care of my vehicle and with the transmission swap they performed, it feels brand new again. Thank you again Ted and Marvin and thank you to your team! If you want high quality service, bring your car to Ted and his team, I guarantee you won t be disappointed.

I have a 19 year old car that would not shift out of park. I spoke with Marvin at Ted's by telephone and described the problem. He promptly and correctly diagnosed the issue and said it would most likely be an easy fix, but that I would need to wait a few days to have the car towed over because they were very busy. I called him on the day he said to call back and he said to have the car towed over. The car arrived at their shop at about 5:15 PM. By the next morning it was fixed at a very reasonable price. The entire staff of this family business was friendly and I was really impressed by Marvin's honesty. I definitely recommend them if you have a transmission problem, and if I ever have a transmission problem again I will certainly use them.Service: Transmission

Great service. Worked on my 2008 Suburban and now it runs great. Family owned and operated for 30 year. This family know there transmission. Walked us through what the problem was. Great experience, very honest and timely. My truck was ready when they said it would be ready.2 year update: transmission still running great!

I had a great experience at Ted s from start to finish. It s hard to find quality technicians familiar with older vehicles and parts, in this case a 70 s Mopar 727, but Marvin and team know their stuff. They turned around a full rebuild in no time and worked with me when they found issues along the way. I m very thankful to have found these guys and would recommend them to anyone.

Be careful with how you talk to this shop. After numerous calls of the type of vehicle we have and discussing what we what needed, we scheduled a time to have AAA to tow our vehicle. Each time we have talked to this facility we always reminded them of our name and make and model of the vehicle so they know who we are. AAA tows said vehicle and we are turned away because they thought it was another vehicle type. So we are out $225 to have this vehicle towed back to our house. So we are out this money and still have to find another transmission shop.Service: Transmission

After a local (Clayton NC) transmission repair shop was unable to repair the transmission in my wife's GMC Envoy, I tried a second mechanic shop, which recommended Ted's Transmission as their go to place for hard to diagnose transmission problems. After speaking to Ted's son Marvin, on the phone, I decided to book an appointment. The service was professional, the staff was friendly, the price was fair, and the work was completed in a timely manner. Marvin went above and beyond to resolve my problem even checking in with me a couple of times after I picked the car up to make sure there were no issues. I am grateful to have found this shop which will now be my first call with any future transmission work I may need. I was truly blessed to find Ted's Shop. It's hard to find good and honest mechanics these days with affordable rates. Especially if you are a female. My transmission went out on my 2010 Camry @180K. Marvin replaced it with a used one with a 6 month warranty. He did a Fantastic job!!! My car is running like new. I highly recommend this shop to anyone. I am spreading the word and will definitely revisit if I shall every need transmission repair again. Thanks again Marvin!!!

The transmission in my 2016 Suburban was going out. Ted gave me a best case and a worst case scenario and an estimate for each. I dropped it off and he looked into what was going on. The result was in the middle and he got the work done in a reasonable amount of time, at a VERY fair price. My regular mechanic and the dealer only offered to replace the transmission. Rebuilding just what needed to be rebuilt saved me a good bit of money. Ted and his operation remind me of the honest, hardworking mechanics that I remember from when I was growing up. Good people! Not only did I get my truck fixed but I met a nice, honest person and left feeling good about the whole situation. Thank you Ted!!!!

Quality, reasonable, but most importantly honest. These guys stood behind their warranty. Had them rebuild my transmission several months ago. I ran into in issue with it last week. When I took it in, and he fixed it, and did not give me any trouble regarding the warranty. Picked my truck up today and it's running great. Refreshing to to deal with an honest mechanic that stood behind his warranty. Trust them and will definitely use them.

I have been a customer of Ted's Auto Transmission service for several years now, and when I say they are the best when it comes to customer service and getting the problem fixed the first time with high quality results, that is not giving them enough credit. We had several cars that were diagnosed with everything from a Ford with a bad transmission, to engine lights on, and a bad torque converter in our ML 350 and I'm here to tell you Marvin and his team resolved all our automotive issues, quickly and economically. I can't recommend Ted's enough! We had a check engine light come on and multiple repair shops told us it with be a full transmission rebuild. We were referred to Ted's and I spoke to a Marvin many times. He made time for my calls without fail and test drive our van. He was able to save us a rebuild and come in under what he recommended.

Ted and his Son were amazing to work with! The clutch in my 2007 truck went out and the first couple of ball park estimates I got were extremely high for such an old truck, Ted's gave me a number that was much more reasonable and managed to get the job done for even cheaper.I'm a big fan of family owned shops and Ted's is now my go to for anything I can't take care of myself. I highly recommend giving them a call if you need to get some work done.

Can't be happier! My 90s Jeep was in and out of their shop in under 2 weeks. Better customer servive and pricing compared to other shops around. I wanted to take a minute and say how thankful I am for their work. We needed a great deal of automotive work done right before Thanksgiving and if it was not done in time, we were going to need to spend 400 or 500 dollars more to rent a car for the holiday travels. They worked late and got the repairs done saving us a lot of money and time. The work was fantastic and the car ran great on our long trip. I highly recommend them.

I am from Durham and researched just about every Transmission shop in the Triangle including Trans-medics, and Jake's which was recommended by the Honda Dealership for my Honda Odyssey's failed transmission. I have got to say that I am extremely happy to have stumbled onto Ted's Transmission. They are a family owned and operated business and the only one researched that has a overall 5-Star rating on Google reviews in addition a consistent mention about fair pricing, integrity, honesty, knowledge and solid craftsmanship throughout. They are very courteous and all business ... no slacking off. Ted is the life of the party and very pleasant to chat with on any matters concerning vehicles in general. My Honda Odyssey now feels and handles like new and I am assured by Ted that I can drive this baby from here to California without a worry in the world. I will recommend them to anyone with a transmission problem and have already told my guy over at Honda about them. Good, decent mechanics, and craftsmen in general are hard to find these days so whenever I make a good find I make sure to save their contact information in a special list of contacts. Thanks Ted! Ted's Transmission was referred to me by another business and I am glad that they did. I needed a quality place with honesty and integrity and they delivered. Even though the vehicle I brought them wasn't what they typically worked with they were still able to assist and fixed my issue quickly and cheaper than if I bought a re-manufactured unit.If you want quality and honesty, this is the place. And they are a family owned shop who's been in business for many many years so you know they are doing something right.

Just bought a car from a dealership, "as is". Started having problems 10 mins into driving it home. Dealership said sorry bout your luck. Brought it into Ted. He was amazing!!! Couldn't fix the car (would cost more than car is worth), but Ted was honest and helpful, and just really decent guy. Would highly recommend! Really appreciate him taking the time that day to look the car over even though he was obviously swamped

Ted was great to work with from my first call to the moment I pulled away after rebuilding my transmission. Ted quoted me a fair price but realized he under b the job once he got into it. He did not adjust the price accordingly but stayed true to his original bid. I highly recommend Ted's Transmissions if ever one has a need for it.

As a female it is hard to find a mechanic I can trust. Marvin put a new transmission in my car and now it runs wonderfully. He was very accommodating and very professional. I even got to meet his whole family and dog. Good people. Highly recommend.

A few weeks ago, my transmission on my 99' Chevy Suburban gave out. I brought here from a recommendation from my mechanic. Ted's son, Marvin, completely rebuilt my transmission for a very reasonable price. As soon as I drove away I could tell that the transmission was working better than before, the shifting between gears was super smooth. Locally owned and operated repair shops are always the best.

Ted's Automatic Transmission was referred to me by a general auto shop earlier this year. Ted was able to identify the issue with my transmission with my description and a generic auto store code. He did state that he'd have to see the car to confirm the issue. The issue was exactly what he knew it to be. He and his staff were very welcoming and helpful. I've already recommended and recommend Ted's Automatic Transmission for those who need transmission repair.

Last Friday I had my transmission rebuilt on a Chevrolet Astro Van. It is a company truck and it had to be repaired ASAP. The owner quoted me a price and delivery time and to my complete satisfaction everything was done as promised. Great job. It was a pleasure doing business with this company. Thanks again.

Our company had taken one of our vans to Ted's to get a diagnostic done for the transmission, while conducting the test drive, Ted seemed very knowledgeable, and began to formulate what he thought the issue was during the test drive. Thinking that we were in good hands, we left the van with Ted's. Where things went haywire was the questionable activity showed on the company's fleet management software. While an additional test drive is not to be unexpected, driving the van to Lowe's after the company's stated business hours, remaining there for over half an hour and then to someone's home overnight raised quite a few eyebrows. Ted might be a good and knowledgeable mechanic, but beware the possibility that your vehicle might always be where you think it is...like at the shop.

Recommended by a friend for I did not want to take my car to the dealership. He said it was a family run honest place that charged a fair price. They were extremely knowledgeable, paid attention to fully understand my problem and fixed it it for a fair price. It was shifting slow when cold. Will let my friend know that was a good recommendation.

Have a 2003 Acura 2.3 TL. Got quotes from 6 - 8 K from various shops including the dealer. Ted did the job for $2500 and the car runs perfect now. Great work at a reasonable rate.
