Roy was great to work with. He gave me a good ball park price over the phone. I dropped it off and Roy told me exactly what was going on with it and what was needed to fix it. He then replaced the transmission and other work. He did this work in a very timely manner and I have had zero issues since picking the vehicle up. What I liked the most is that Roy listened to what I was experiencing with the vehicle, asked questions and attempted to diagnose the issue over the phone so I had a good idea of what was going on. He was spot on with his diagnosis and did a great job with the repair. I appreciate his professionalism, patience and knowledge. Couldn't recommend them high enough for any transmission concerns.Chris Jones

Roy at Cottman Transmission was incredibly wonderful. He knows what he is doing and took great care of my car! I brough my vehicle to them because I had to get my transmission totally rebuilt and Roy got it back to me within a week!! It runs better than before! Thank you, Roy, for your amazing work!

Contacted facility to enquire about fluid/filter change. Found that they do not offer this type of service. I mentioned that the web site states that this is available and suggested that they consider revising. Person I spoke to was very polite and thanked me for pointing this out. So I won't get a chance to use their business for my needs this time, but I was impressed with their cordial nature and quick engagement to my call. I'm mainly posting this review to inform others who may be looking for this type of service and be thinking of calling Cottman.

They got my car in the shop quickly and diagnosed the problem. Transmission needed a rebuild. Which I kind of knew would be the case. They rebuilt my transmission for the price quoted. Which was more than a $1000.00 cheaper than another transmission shop I received a quote for a rebuild. They were very Professional and returned my calls quickly and answered all my questions. Our 2006 Kia Spectra with over 180k miles was serviced in July. It s been a month now and all is well. My son put many miles on it going to his jobs and now has it at school.Before Cottman, I got the runaround even from a Kia dealership, which would sooner sell me a new transmission or car than actually fix the problem. After 4 weeks of driving the car in safe mode back and forth between 5 different shops, the issue was identified as a faulty wiring harness that was causing solenoid failure and different code messages. I get it that it s an older car, but had I known that Kia only replaces instead of fixes their own installed transmissions, I wouldn t have bothered going to their dealers. Thanks to Cottman we were spared the extra expense of purchasing a new transmission or a new car.

I just want to THANK Roy from the bottom of my heart!!! He was absolutely the best mechanic I have ever used and will use him all of the time now in the future!!! My son is in college over an hour away and we bought a car that needed transmission work, found out it needed to be rebuilt. I wasn t overcharged and it was done so quickly. 3 weeks later we had another issue so I called Roy and he recommended someone close to my son and covered the bill!!! Very professional we called about a diagnostic, they fit us in right away, looked at the problem and gave us options all in the same day. We decided to have the car repaired and we had it back within four days. Fair price and warranty.

Brought our 2006 Chevy Trailblazer to these guys with over 250k on the original transmission. The transmission wound up needing to be rebuilt. They were responsive and got the job done quickly. I think they had the vehicle 4 days total. Transmission rebuild for under 3k with a 50,000/ 3 year warranty. I would highly recommend these guys.

An absolute great place to do business. I have used them before years ago to rebuild a transmission and it out lived the truck. Recently I had a Chevy work van with 295k miles and needed it s first major repair. They were right on with the repair cost and very upfront with what needed to be fixed. Very happy with their work. I also dropped off a car that had a shifting issue when I picked my van up and they fixed that as well. Drives like a dream now. There is a reason that shops like this one have been around for so many years, it s because they do good honest work. A lot of places these days can t wear that badge of honor. Thanks again for the good work.

Recently moved to Cary,NC from Jersey . While I was in Jersey , one of the mechanic told me that there is an issue with the transmission in my Odyssey .While I was searching for auto shop for the transmission replacement , came across Cotton Transmission and Total auto care . This morning went to the shop and met them.They are friendly , honest and reliable. HONEST!!! Could have easily sold me a transmission. But accurately diagnosed broken mounts for no charge. He suggested me good auto shop ( Choice Autocare) for the replacement .Thanks to the owner for the help . Will refer to all my friends .Services: Transmission, Transmission repair

Awesome customer service! Surrounding auto shops advised me to purchase a new transmission which would cost hundreds of dollars for my 2001 Toyota Camry! Cottman told me I had several links and fixed the problem in a matter of a few hours! This happened in September it is now December and I havent had any issues since! Cottman genuinely cares about the customer and is not an auto shop that tries to take your money for granted. The service representative Rob is outstanding . If you are having a transmission problem and are in need of a mechanic, look no further !

I had a mechanic tell me I needed transmission seals. Imagine my response....I checked the reviews for transmission service centers in the area and Cottman came back as the best - and there's a reason why. I was met with professional service, friendly faces, and most importantly - honesty. It turned out that I didn't need any transmission work at all. Cottman could have easily charged me a small fortune, but their honesty speaks volumes. Highly recommended to anyone and everyone!

This is the single best automotive repair experience I've ever had. I was mislead by a dealer and another transmission company both leading me to believe that I needed to spend in excess of $5000 on a new of rebuilt transmission. Ray called me after having my truck for a few hours to say there was nothing wrong with my transmission at all! The problem I was having was an electronic issue... AND Cottman did not charge me anything for the proper diagnosis. I asked them to do the full system flush anyway just so I could give them some sort of business. This truck has never shifted so smoothly! It's beautiful.

Roy was very helpful in explaining what was wrong and they would do, how long it would take, and what it would cost. Their price to rebuild my transmission with upgraded parts cost a lot less than other shops were quoting me to replace the whole transmission wth a remanufactured unit. This was a very nice experience and the warranty they give is very helpful. Thanks.

Amazing service, amazing prices, puts dealers to shame. Roy (Manger) worked with me to save me $1000 from the dealer price when he replaced my clutch on a Nissan Xterra. When after opening it he found that the flywheel was prematurely worn (a known problem for these cars) and needed changed as well, he only charged me EXACTLY the cost of the OEM part from AutoZone, and even picked it up himself same day. Not even 2 full business days passed between me giving the first call, dropping off the car, estimate, and repair Roy even personally waited an extra 15 minutes after close time to allow me to get through traffic when I got stuck behind an accident en route to pick up the car after work. Very honest - not only with the diagnosis and prices, but even as far as I forgot my wallet in the car and when I picked it up several days later it was untouched even though having been in a fairly easy to see location. The new clutch/flywheel drives so well with so much more power and such a smoother movement that it felt like an entirely different car. Highly highly recommended. If you were thinking you needed the dealer for a new clutch/transmission repair, think again.

Michael G.I was having problems with my transmission shifting gears, took my F-250 to three reputable transmission specialist. Every specialist that put my truck on diagnosis explained that my transmission and torch converter was in need of being replaced or rebuilt. Cottman Transmission, examined my Ford, and told me it wasn't my transmission, it was in number 6 and 7 coil packs and spark plugs according to his diagnosis. He was right. Cottman's men are transmission specialist you can trust. They have saved me so much time and money with their honest diagnosis.Thank you, it's hard to find trust worthy men we can trust to service our vehicles.

Cottman team provided free assessment of my transmission on my 2007 Jeep and told us their recommendation and did not try to perform any unnecessary additional checks or repairs. Very professional. I would highly recommend taking your transmission needs to these guys.

My Mazda Tribute at 144,000 blew the auto tranny in the mountains but I still limped home. Found Ed Tanner's Cottman Transmission shop on New Hope Road in Raleigh and was treated like family. I love my Mazda and had Ed rebuild my auto. Now it runs better than new and I have confidence I will get another 144,000 and a bunch more. I cannot say enough about how well I was treated and the knowledge and experience at this shop was excellent. I highly recommend Ed Tanner's Cottman shop.Henry L.

I just had a major repair done to a 2006 Trailblazer. Ray was a pleasure to work with, keeping informed of what the problem with the transmission was, and my options. Both he, and the owner were very courteous and professional. The work was completed very quickly and includes a warranty. Cottman Transmission was recommended to be by Poole's Garage in Knightdale ( Owen and Charles have taken care of my family since before I started driving) , and all of m y future transmission nerds will be taken to Cottman Transmission.

These people were extremely friendly and caring. But my experience is frightening. We own a 2015 Honda Civic and driving back from work the car stopped accelerating. We took it here and a day later got a call that said the transmission was completely done for. That Honda's use a CVT transmission and it was so shot they couldn't work on it and it would cost us thousands. We took it to the Honda dealership who after an hour of looking at it said a small piece was broken and they fixed it for 200$. It's scary because had cottman told us they could fix it for thousands we may have paid 4-7k when 200$ was all we needed. They were so friendly but it's scary to think what could have been. Just always get a second opinion

Had 2 hv my transmission rebuilt and Roy made sure he kept me posted with periodic updates. And when the final total came out 2 be more than he originally quoted as worse case scenario he stood by that original price...WOW!However, one of the parts in my newly rebuilt transmission was bad and caused my vehicle 2 go back in the shop a month later. Once again the Cottman Transmission team had me in/out in a couple days.Thanx Roy & Team

We recently encountered some car trouble with our Honda Odyssey minivan. Stopped into Cottman, and the gentlemen there were very helpful. They thoroughly explained the cause of the issues we were having and answered all of our questions. The staff is both knowledgeable and kind. Thankfully, my minivan is back on the road and in excellent running condition. After our expereince, we would highly recommend Cottman to all of our friends and family!
