My husbands Prius had an error code for coolant issue. Took it to our regular place and they let it sit for two weeks before saying they couldn t even take time to scan it. Called Outer Banks Mobile Engine who said bring it in next day. Scanned it and it was just an air bubble in a line. In and out fixed for $100. Have found our new repair shop!

I was on my way from Connecticut to Corolla, NC when my air conditioning blew out its pressure switch in New Jersey. Since my stones are sometimes bigger than my brains, I pressed on anyway. I spent the first day of my vacation recovering from heat stroke and decided to find a mechanic in the area who could help me out. After spending an hour or so calling around and realizing that all the local shops were jammed, and those that weren't didn't have time for my 40 year diesel. Its really my fault for driving the thing so far away from my tools and my parts car, but I figured there must be someone in the area that could help.Robert answered on the third ring and unlike every other shop in the area, did not put me on hold, and told me he had time for me Wednesday morning, and would most likely have it done by the end of the day. I was about to tell him why that may not actually be the case, since he had no idea of make, model, or vintage, but I figured I would just show up on Wednesday and see what he said.Well, my car wasn't done on Wednesday afternoon, but by Friday, Robert and the crew at Outer Banks Mobile Engine had my ancient diesel cranking out ice cold air from the vents, and at a price that was more than fair. On my return trip to Connecticut, the air conditioning worked flawlessly for ten hours straight, and is still cranking out the cold. Thanks to the crew over there, I can spend my first few days back home doing laundry, mowing the lawn, and daydreaming about the lovely blonde guide with the killer blue eyes at the ropes course, instead recovering from heat stroke yet again.I will definitely use their services again, I just hope that I don't have to.Thanks a million!

I have had multiple interactions with Robert for years. Sadly, most of them have been bad. I've taken him 2 boats and 2 vehicles. 1 of my vehicles was for a brake change. My vehicle came out squeaking so loud you could hear it a mile away. The first boat, he looked at and supposedly fix but it was never water worthy. I spent a lot of money and time getting them ready only to sell it cuz he could not fix. Now, I bring in another boat, and the first thing he says is buy a new motor. Didn't even touch the boat. I told him to check it out and to give me a diagnosis. He calls me a couple of days later. He says motor 1 has bad compression in cylinder 4. I didn't even bother to check motor 2 because they need to be replaced.Charged me $95 for the diagnosis. I paid him $100 and left.I took my boat to Dwayne Johnson at MarinePro in Barco. He checks it and makes the boat run and tells me it never had compression issues. My advice, stay away from Outer Banks Mobile Engine. Robert clearly is not the right guy for the job.

Like many others - I had car trouble while on vacation in OBX. It was a starter and everyone told me it would be a week before they could get to me. I was only on vacation for a week so I couldn t wait. Robert at Outter Banks Mobile Engine was incredible. Luckily I was able to drive to the shop. He prioritized my situation over other jobs that could wait. I am so grateful to him for taking care of me. I couldn t recommend him more. I was at the shop me a couple hours and back on my way to the beach in no time. Robert cares about helping others and not taking advantage of the tourist population. Fair price for a fair days work. Sweet man.

Very wonderful and knowledgeable people!! I was out of town on vacation when my cars water pump went out and they got us in quickly where as every where else said it would be 1-2 weeks. They made all the necessary repairs within a timely manner and did not up the rate because we were from out of town. Highly recommend to anyone, they are an honest and trustworthy establishment!!!

While on vacation with a Saturday checkout I couldn't get my car started on Friday morning. They said they were available to look at it and open until 4:00pm. I had trouble getting a tow truck that could get me there in time due to traffic. I called to let them know I might be running late and they reassured me several times that they would be there and would take care of me. He said he'd make sure I could get home safely. I got to the shop at 3:56pm and he diagnosed and took care of my problem. I appreciate him working overtime on a Friday afternoon in the summer. He charged a price that was well below what I expected.

Me and my family(3 kids) are from Richmond and we just came down to OBX a couple days ago for vacation and my water pump locked up not even a mile from this shop. I got a tow down there and spoke with Robert the owner. I've been in the car industry for 13 years, so I know good guys and bad guys, and Robert is one of the good guys. He helped pack all of my family's stuff into the back of his truck and drove us all down to our hotel and had my truck ready by 9am the next morning. The price I paid was better than what I would have paid in Richmond and worth the hospitality. I do all the work on my own cars so it was refreshing to have a nice guy do something I HAD to have done. I would definitely go to him again.

Five days into our week stay in Corolla, after towing a trailer with our golf cart, my family and I jumped in my Honda truck for a little excursion. We got 3 miles down the road and the tranny started slipping. Pulled into Harris Twitter immediately and started searching Google for a transmission repair shop. Everything pointed to Norfolk, Ugg.Noticed Outer Banks Mobile Engine and it said they rebuilt engines. I always try to use local businesses so I gave them a call to see if they could help.. Robert, the owner answered and assured me he could handle the job and would get right on it. He recommended a local towing company down in Kitty Hawk who arrived within a half hour.I called Robert back (Thurs. noon) and explained that we needed to be checked out of the house by 10AM Saturday with trailer in tow and that there was transmission fluid all over the concrete drive of the house and a trail down the road. He wasn't sure where the leak was yet but assured me he would get it fixed by Friday and everything would be ok.True to his word he managed to locate and install a new radiator, flushed the Transmission and added an additive to help any damage that might have been caused from driving with no fluid.Robert is as honest as the day is long! He could have ripped me off and over sold me but he is a good man. I highly recommend this shop and if I lived in the area they would have all my business.Note; Outer Banks Mobile Engine has one unfavorable review and I asked him about it. He assured me he never worked on the gentleman"s vehicle and certainly wouldn't use glue to fix a part he supposedly broke installing and alternator. When the gentleman was asked to present a work order he could not. Robert told him if he did he would refund his money and fix the issue... "Honest as the day is long"

This is a great story. Please, read all of it!While vacationing in OBX, my car's alternator died. I found these guys, saw the great review and went for it. The tow truck driver tried to talk me out of going here, and I should have listened.I'll admit, the fix took only a day and a half and the price wasn't that bad, I guess. Then the fun started. About a week after returning from vacation, I noticed a knocking under the hood. It was subtle at first, but then it grew. I had my mechanic take a look. He literally popped the hood, didn't even bend over to look, pointed at the back of the engine and said, "There's your problem."There is a valve that has something to do with the catalytic converter that sits directly over the alternator. The hose going into the valve had not just come loose; the valve was broken in half. You could just see where someone had lifted the alternator out and broke the valve in the process. And here s the kicker: what looked like gorilla glue was clumped all over the broken pieces of the valve. (refer to pictures, notice the glue that dripped down to the engine cover)I asked my mechanic if that was an adequate fix. He just laughed. Even if it was what you are supposed to do when such a valve is broken, these guys didn t say a word about how they had broken a completely different part. It makes wonder if that is why the price was so reasonable. But I m not done. So, I called them back and explained the situation, asking for some kind of compensation. The guy immediately insisted that the part broken was nowhere near the alternator. (calling me a liar?) After some arguing, he told me he would look up my info in his system and call me back. That was months ago, and I haven t heard a word.Look, I m not trying to be mean or anything. I m just telling my story.Tourists beware!

As long as I m living in the Outer Banks this will be my go to. I live in Avon and travel and hour and a half just to get to get to these guys. Robert, went above and beyond to help me when my car blew two tires in a matter of two weeks. He also quoted me well under what other places were charging me for all new tires and oil change. I wish I could give more than five stars For the service these guys provided.

While vacationing in OBX my Dodge Transmission Went out on the beach. Called several shops to get it fixed, but everyone told me it would take over a week to get it rebuilt. Finally settled on Outer Banks Mobile Engine. They worked long into the night to pull the transmission and to get it sent out to be rebuilt. Within three days they had it rebuilt and reinstalled, running like a brand new truck. Saved my vacation.

Wonderful people who knew what they were doing. They helped us out when we were really in a bind. We were on vacation and we could not find a place to take our car and they got us right. They didn't try to take us for a ride. I would recommend them to anyone.

IF YOU ARE LOOKING TO BE RIPPED OFF THEN BY ALL MEANS CONTACT ROBERT. HE IS DISHONEST ON UNETHICAL. DO NOT USE HIM. CONSIDER YOURSELF WARNED. ALL THE AMERICAN FLAGS AND MARINE STICKERS ARE JUST RED FLAGS FOR ME. HIS WORK SHOULD STAND ON IT'S OWN. HE SHOULD NOT NEED TO HIDE BEHIND SYMBOLS.
