We had the pleasure of spending the weekend at Plumtree. We were in site P1 and my brother and sister in law was in P2. We had the most memorable and wonderful time. Jed, Jennifer, and Jimmy welcomed us with opened arms. Jimmy made sure we were taken care of. Plumtree is the most beautiful and relaxing place we have been so far. We went fishing in there beautiful trout pond which is fully stocked. If you peace and quite Plumtree is your place to go you will not be disappointed. The hostess was very attentive to us during our stay.We cannot wait to come back to this beautiful Gem tucked in the beautiful mountains.

What a wonderful campground Plumtree is! Nestled at the foot of a small mountain at 3000ft, it was the perfect retreat for me this past summer. The setting is serene and naturally beautiful, surrounded by lush greenery and an abundance of wildlife like birds, bees, chipmunks, and occasional deer. The nights here are a marvel, so dark that the Milky Way becomes a faint, glittering tapestry overhead.I enjoyed exploring the local trails, which meander around the mountain and lead to a stunning waterfall - a walk that's definitely worth the effort. The area is also home to apple trees and blueberry bushes, which added a delightful touch to the surroundings. A short drive away, the Linville Gorge and waterfall are spectacular sights, especially during the autumn season when I witnessed the magnificent change of colors in the trees.Getting to Plumtree requires careful navigation, so do follow the directions provided by the campground to avoid unimproved roads. The location is conveniently close to Spruce Pine, where you can find a Walmart and other grocery stores within a 30-minute drive. The sense of community and warmth at the campground is unmatched, thanks to Jimmy, the camp host. From the moment of arrival, expect a full welcome treatment. Jimmy is exceptional in guiding you to your site and making every day of your stay feel special. In summary, if you're looking for a peaceful summer retreat with great neighbors, amazing hosts, and a connection with nature, Plumtree Campground is the place I'll be returning to.

Never seen a pull in back out site, if would of had others in next site could not leave with tow vehicle. Understand mountains however better work on roads in property is needed few steep areas for larger rigs, also trees and bushes need trim on their skinny roads. I think big rigs must only use a 3rd option drive that is not their main enter or exit. This would be only area at top that should be tried for bigger rv's unless roads get better leveled out if they can be. The guy that assisted us was nice. Scenic mountain view was nice, Pond was ok for a view. 2 washers, and only one worked. Must see in the area is the Linville waterfall and trails.

I cannot say enough about the quality of the experience we had. The location is remote and indescribably beautiful. Jed, and his staff were so helpful. Our truck transmission went out, and we found ourselves needing to store our RV for a month. His crew relocated it for us, and stored it until we were ready to pick it up. They were beyond reasonable with the storage fees. Super friendly. Quiet park. I should warn that the roads getting there can be a bit tricky for larger rigs. Consult with Jed on the best route for your particular needs. Relying on GPS may not the the best idea. That said, I highly recommend this park!

We were so lucky to find this beautlful campground for our camping trip over Labor Day weekend. Plumtree has everything I look for in a campground (shaded areas, large campsites that offer privacy, clean bathhouses, etc) and even offered live music on Saturday night. The owners and grounds manager went above and beyond to make sure we were well taken care of, including welcoming us when we arrived, and helping us get all our supplies to and from our beautiful, secluded hike-in site. We enjoyed hiking around the property and couldn't get over how the trails literally sparkle when the sun hits the mica in the soil. Truly a little slice of heaven right here in the NC mountains.

Awesome owners and Jimmy the manager is the best. Clean bathrooms, beautiful property, waterfall, hiking trails, trout fishing and more! Nearby tons of sights and super quiet and shaded. We stayed at the group tent site and had 11 people and Jimmy came by atleast once a day to make sure we were happy. Can t wait to come back! Definitely top 5 campgrounds we ve ever stayed at and we ve stayed in dozens.

We had an amazing time here! The H camping spots are perfect. You get privacy, wilderness, private fireplace, a ton of firewood at a cheap price. Theres a small pond that is just absolutely stocked with beautifully colored trout. The bathroom is immaculately clean, private and has a shower. The hiking was great and sleeping in the tent was perfect. Jim and Jed s service was unbelievably great. They go above and beyond to make sure you have everything you need. Their camping shop actually has really good prices. Got a fishing pole for $20! Definitely recommended!Rooms: There are primitive cabins for rent if you want.Nearby activities: You can hike, fish, visit a waterfall, go biking.Safety: Jim has been there for 50 years and never seen a black bear or rattle snake. Same for Jed the last 30 years. Thats very reassuring for me.Walkability: You can walk from any place easily on the location.Food & drinks: You can buy smores.

Oh my! We found this gem of a campground online and absolutely loved it for our 4 day stay (not long enough!) Jimmy and Jed were the best, helping us back our 5th wheel into our perfectly beautiful site including a deck with a rail giving us a peek of the mountains through the tree tops! Everything was clean & groomed & lovely! Need we say more? We'll be back to try the cabins! ~ Jon & Gayle

We stayed at this awesome campground in the NC Mountains in the Banner Elk area. This place has it all, from great sites and cabins build in the side of the mountain. Fantastic hiking trails with waterfalls on site. The owners and campground manager Jimmy were very attentive and accommodating during our 16 day stay.Oh yeah and the weather has been awesome with highs in the mid 70 s and lows in the lower 60 s. Not missing the extreme heat at home at all! This is a must stay if you are into camping and in the area. We will definitely be an annual visitor for sure

This property is a little gem for sure! Peaceful, quiet and beautiful, it is kept up very well. The bathhouse by the tent camping is one of cleanest and nicest I have ever seen at a campground (and I have been to a lot of campgrounds) the manager was very nice to lead us to our campsite when we arrived and checked on us the next day. Sadly we we thwarted by weather and left earlier than expected but we hope to return soon!

By far the nicest campground we have stayed. Large campsites, most with shade. A small lake and playground and hiking trails to a waterfall. The grounds are beautiful. The staff comes by at different times of the day to check and see if there is anything you need. They emailed directions to the grounds and met us at the entrance to take us to the campsite and help us get settled in. The email included a liat of attractions, from bars to get a cold beer to restaurants and places for hiking. There are some small cabins for those that don't camp. Will definitely be returning.

My wife, son, dog, and myself just returned from the most rejuvenating week. Jed and Jimmy work at the campground and went above and beyond to make our stay wonderful. We love this part of North Carolina and this campground was central to everything fun to do.The best part was how quiet and relaxing everything was. My son is 2 and he was able to wander around and had no fear of anything happening to him. The staff here checked on us daily to make sure we were all set and were each time they were so polite. We will be returning here from now on.We had a campsite for our camper but got to take a look at some cabins, let's just say, you can't go wrong with any of the spots here.We have stayed at over 25 campgrounds so far, this one sits at the top of our list.Nearby activities: Linville Gorge Wilderness AreaBlue Ridge ParkwayLinville CavernsGrandfather MountainBoone, NCAsheville, NCMount Mitchell

SERVICE, CLEAN, and QUIET! I went here for a short sabbatical, armed with my fly rod and found complete serenity. If you value service this is your place. Jimmy was phenomenal, even went and got me ice (I paid for it), but he went above and beyond, felt I knew the guy my whole life. CLEAN: I stayed in the rustic cabin for a semi-camp experience and felt safe while also having a clean space to sleep and shower. QUIET: The long-term campers stayed to themselves and it was super quiet. I'll be back to try one of the studios with my wife. NICE to SEE FRIENDLY SERVICE and getting more for your money.

This is absolutely what we were looking for. This is what camping is all about. The area is beautiful and our dogs loved walking the trail behind the campground. The sites are spaced out well. The owners are so nice and happy to help and provide any information. Jimmy is a great campground manager. He maintains the grounds well and is always happy to help with anything you need. We have found our slice of heaven and will be back.

The owners and onsite manager were very friendly and accommodating. We reserved a cabin for 3 days. Escape to the Trees cabin. It was very nice. I honestly wasn't expecting such a nice cabin for the price. Location of campground was centrally located to check out all the cool towns in the area. Will be back with, next time with the RV. They have some brand new RV sites that look great.

We found Plumtree Campground looking for a last minute camping spot for Memorial Day weekend. We weren t sure what it would be like since all of the best campgrounds were booked. Plumtree did not disappoint! It is a smaller, charming, quiet campground. If you want to enjoy nature (with full hook ups), this is your spot. Jennifer and Jed are very nice. The campground is very pretty. Hiking trails, waterfalls, the Blue Ride Parkway, and small town communities are nearby. If you want a quiet, relaxing weekend, check out this hidden getaway spot.

We just came home from a very relaxing stay at Plumtree. The owners Jed and Jenifer are awesome and great at what they do. They are both friendly and knowledgeable. We just bought a new camper and hadn t figured out everything. We were a little rusty with our backing skills but Jed guided us in and made it effortless. He was so patient and gave great advice. He loaned us a tool that we didn t have. Jed and Jenifer welcome each group with genuine friendliness. We had plans to do so many things but the campground was so relaxing that we mostly just relaxed! There is a very pretty waterfall that is an easy hike. The rainbow trout in the trout pond have the most beautiful colors that I ve seen on trout. The bath houses are very clean and comfortable! The playground has a great slide tower. There are hiking trails that are not too difficult. The amount of mica there makes the trails sparkle at times! The RV sites are really level and have lots of nice shade.

Just returned from 4 nights camping at this delightful campground. We engaged with the host, Jed, daily and found him to be friendly, helpful, accommodating, accessible and knowledgeable. The facilities are clean and well maintained and signage and directions plentiful and easy to read. The sites are groomed, clean and suited to multi-night stays. The location is easy to find, an ideal starting point for day tripping, hiking, fishing and sightseeing.Conveniently, firewood is available for a nominal charge. After informing us that the campground is home to a resident couple specializing in growing and supplying organic mushrooms to farmers markets, restaurants and stores, Jed was kind enough to deliver an order to our camper door. We look forward to our next visit![

We're so glad we found this gem of a campground. Everyone is so friendly and the campground is so peaceful. We booked a last-minute trip and were not disappointed. There is a cute little pond with trout. I think next time we'll catch and clean a couple for breakfast. The camp sites are well maintained. While there are a lot of seasonal campers, there are also sites for tent and daily camping. My grandson and I loved playing in the creek. We tried sliding down the rocks, and... well... it was awfully fun, but be sure you're up to actually sliding down a river rock slide because it's fast! lol. The campground hosts, Jed and Jennifer, are super nice and accommodating. They will bring you ice and firewood, and If you like fancy mushrooms, ask them to hook you up with a local grower. We made a most delicious oyster mushroom stew. We went into Spruce Pine for lunches, gem mining and a grocery run. Be sure to try the Tropical Grill. I really loved our time at PCR and I'm sure we'll be back.

We were on the group tent site which is really cool, better for a group of smaller tents but we found a spot to anchor our larger tent. There is a pavilion with lights & picnic tables which was amazing to have. Since we arrived after dark (we recommend arriving during light) Jed & Jenifer had the lights on for us which was so thoughtful and helpful! The bathhouse in the tent area is convenient to all tent sites and very clean! Jed & Jenifer delivered firewood to us and I enjoyed the conversation with them, learning more about how they acquired the campground and all that has been done. There are areas to explore and so much beauty to see! Jed & Jenifer are wonderful and Plumtree is a great experience. I highly recommend them for your next camping trip.

This is a wonderful campground! We stayed at one of the tent spots this past weekend and loved it. The grounds are well kept with several trails right on site, including a stream with a small waterfall. Plus, the bathhouse was well stocked and very clean. We will definitely come back!
