Great shop. Needed a new clutch and flywheel and they got the job done right. I wanted a somewhat non-standard setup and they were willing to work with me. Mike was great at listening to my concerns, taking the time to talk about it and test-drive/troubleshoot, and making sure everything was done right. Thanks!

Brought in my 87 Camaro for a howling rear end. Talked with Dave at length about different options including changing the gear ratio for a little more performance. Settled on new 3.73 ring and pinion, bearings and seals. Also swapped my T5 trans gear oil for ATF. Though short staffed right after Thanksgiving, they still had it done in under the estimated time and at the quoted (very fair) price. When I went to pick it up they showed me the bad bearings that were causing the unbearable noise. The car has since been smooth and quiet. Very friendly and knowledgeable. Would recommend to anyone.

I brought my Nissan Murano here earlier this year due to it skipping. The Cornelius Nissan told me my cars transmission was blown and wanted almost $10k for a new one. Decided to call around and found A & M Transmission immediately available to check out my car.Mike took it on a test drive, he informed me that it was my spark plug on cylinder 4 causing a misfire and it would be $200 to replace. After replacing it, Mike and Dave were struggling to clear a code. Kept it for the weekend, then called me to let me know it was actually my transmission. They wanted to rebuild it for roughly $5k plus tax. At that point I felt like I was being taking advantage of and decided to research my car myself. After spending a week researching, it turns out they fried one of the computers that is connected to my transmission trying to clear a code. Causing it to not recognize both sets of keys (thinking it's being stolen) and putting all the load into Drive/Reverse.I found someone selling a used/newer one on Ebay for $42 + shipping. Took roughly about 1.5 hours to replace and the car was back to normal. Ended up also replacing the rest of the spark plugs myself.Long story short...do research on your car before you take it anywhere! Mike through the whole process was nice but Dave...not so much. Hit or miss with him. I won't be returning but I do wish them the best and hope they do better with future customers.

If I could leave zero stars I would. My father in law brought my Toyota here because it wouldn't go into reverse, but drove perfectly fine. The guys here told us that my transmission was completely fried and it was not drivable unless I spent thousands of dollars on a transmission repair. Then someone graciously offered to just buy my "junk car" for $500 if I didn't want to spend the money on repairing it. My husband chose to just drive it home. And we decided we'd seek a 2nd opinion. We chose to think about where else we wanted to take it. We waited a long time due to not having the available funds to repair anything anyway. Well, what do you know...6 months later, without a single repair done, my car is reversing just fine, it's driving beautifully and my transmission is just fine.Whoever is running this shop seems to be a liar, and a crook. Think twice before taking your vehicle to this place as they are certainly NOT trustworthy. I guess giving the car a rest was just what it needed...NOT a transmission repair! These people should be ashamed of themselves.

The guys at A&M Transmission are great. They rebuilt my wife's 2016 Chrysler Town and Country mini van transmission. It had been exhibiting problems with slipping, not wanting to engage into drive in the mornings so she was not happy. I took the van in, and they ran diagnostics to check for codes but could not find any. The owner, Michael Tabacco said "let's go for a ride.". He told me, "I want to make sure this is a transmission problem before we work on it. I don't want to spend someone's money before making sure.". He instantly could feel the problems we were seeing and had one of the mechanics drive it home and then back in the morning when it was cold. The mechanic was able to see all the issues, including not wanting to engage in the morning. He called me and told me it needed to be rebuilt. This was Tuesday, they rebuilt the transmission and had it complete and ready to pick up on Friday. Saturday, I noticed a spot on the driveway. I called them on Tuesday and they said to bring it in. We did, and they were able to find the leak and fix it cheerfully. These guys stand behind their work and are extremely quick to respond. They made sure all technical updates were completed and replaced the drum with a better aftermarket unit that exceeded the manufacturing flawed design. I would highly recommend them for your work.

Michael is awesome! Idk where to start all I can say is you don t find this kind of service anywhere these days. I called initially after having a bad experience with the Chevy dealer I took my truck to for a transmission service. I explained the issues I was having and he gave me some quality advice and told me to bring it by and he d have a look. Long story short, he eased my worries and even inspected the work the dealership did. He then went above and beyond and grabbed his scan tool and programmed a relearn to the TCM. He did all of this in about 20 minutes with no appointment. He then refused to accept any compensation for his time, knowledge and effort. I MEAN THIS IS UNHEARD OF IN 2023. ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!! 10/10 recommend and I will be back.

Hands-down, the best transmission place I ve ever been to. They didn t charge me a cent to look it over and they gave me multiple options. Ultimately it was better for me to salvage it then to repair it and kept it on their lot until I was able to sell it and have it picked up. I even begged them to take some money and they refused!?!?! What kind of business does that a good reputable one that cares for people, that s who. That s why this will be the only place I go to and recommend to all my friends and family. Thanks so much!!!Service: Transmission

2007 4WD Jeep Wrangler 200+ miles transmission would slip out of drive intermittently into neutral and RPM s would go up significantly and then it clunk hard back into drive. A & M hooked-up a transmission diagnostic device to the on-board Jeep computer and results were broadcast to a PC in the office so, we could see exactly what was happening and print a report. Next, we hooked-up an iPad to the diagnostics device inside the Jeep and took it for a test drive. I watched the transmission diagnostic screens live while Mike as me questions on specific components. In short, at A&am there is zero transmission guesswork. After printing a comparative report, Mike & Dave collaborated live, identified 3 main issues and 2 other internal components that were operating outside of mgfr specifications and in-process of failing; transmission rebuild was inevitable. Additionally, on the front wheel drive shaft, Dave found that the grease boot on front wheel drive shaft had disintegrated and there was no lubricant left (another time bomb). The entire issue was fixed over a 2 day period and Dave provided the to and from transportation. This made the whole process very easy. In closing, A & M is experienced, professional, polite, proactive and price competitive. They keep you in the communication loop. P.S. The 10-day post transmission diagnostic revealed literally, a perfect job. Many thanks! An EXCELLENT experience.

based on a friend's recommendation, I took my daughter's car to A&M for a second opinion on some work that a local dealer said needed to be done. That dealer gave an estimate of $6K+. A&M took a whole hour to look everything over, including a diagnostics test, actually driving the car, and putting it on a lift to inspect underneath the car. They determined the car was fine and didn't need all those expensive dealer repairs at this time. And they didn't charge me a dime even though I tried to insist on paying them for their trouble. I would 100% use these guys again for any car issues.Service: Auto engine diagnostic

My 2001 Dodge Ram suddenly lost 2nd gear right at 200,000 miles. Of the few shops that were close, all were booked for as many as 5 weeks and wanted me to leave my vehicle on their lot until they could get to it. My truck had never been to a shop let alone away from my care for any amount of time. I have always repaired any problem, although only a few minor ones, simply because finding a trustworthy and knowledgeable mechanic is a task in itself.I expanded my search a little farther and came across A&M Transmissions. Reading through their website, I thought this may be worth checking out. I called, explained my problem, and made an appointment for a diagnostic evaluation. I received a call the next day at 10am informing me of what I had thought as well, the transmission will need to be rebuilt. I gave them the go ahead and asked when I should expect the job to be completed. To my surprise, they said "Give us about 3 days". Early on the 3rd day, I received the call that the truck was ready. Surprised again. I got to the shop and the owner, Mike Tobacco, invited me back to inspect the parts removed from the failed transmission. The condition of some of the parts made me wander how the truck was still able to move. Mike explained the process of the repair and included that known OE parts that have experienced failure were replaced by parts that were redesigned to make the transmission perform better.I could not be happier with the job they did. The transmission is performing better than I can remember. The quick turn around and quality of workmanship was exactly what I was looking for. I tend to be a bit picky on certain things, especially when those things get deep in your pocket, and I don't give out recommendations often , but A&M has earned mine. If you need a transmission repaired, I'd certainly give them call.

They repaired the transmission on my 2018 Gmc sierra. Handled the warranty claim and did the repair quickly. Very happy with the result. Transmission works better than when truck was new!

Let me first say, I have severe trust issues with mechanics. That being said, this was, by far, the best customer experience of my 43 years on this earth. Mike the owner is great! He was up front on the phone with me with a worst case scenic cost, but wasn t sold until he test drove it. He fit me in that same afternoon that I called him. Within 30 seconds, my worst fears were confirmed, my trans needed to be rebuilt. I left my truck on that Monday night. Mike stated he should have it done before Friday, but I ve heard that before from other guys. The following day, Tuesday, I received a call stating that he fit me in and the trans was out of the truck, he then asked if I wanted to see it apart on the bench so I could see the failed parts. I was completely blown away with his willingness to demonstrate and educate the customer!!! So, I took him up on his offer and was given a whole presentation on the functionality and failure of my transmission. Further more, he pointed out I had another small issue that was easily remedied with the transmission out. After the tour, Mike told me the truck should be ready for pick up on Wednesday night. On Wednesday, the next day, I received a call from Mike stating that the job was complete and I was able to come and get it. Up pick up, Mike also asked me to bring the truck back in 10-14 days so that he could inspect the work that there were no issue with the work he and his team performed. If you are having any issues with your vehicle, I highly recommend A & M Transmission!!!

My wife and I were traveling and stopped in Mooresvile overnight. Departing the hotel, our Land Cruiser made a terrible grinding noise and lost drive in the hotel parking lot. I settled it back into a parking space and arranged for a tow to the transmission shop with the best reviews (A&M). I called them with the certainty that something had gone catastrophically wrong with the transmission. We talked about it for a while and they assured me that they would look at it and get back to me.A very short time later, I got a the call. My axle had slipped as a result of a failed retainer clip. They sent a driver to get the parts in a neighboring town and got the axle repaired...that day...for such a low price that I felt a little guilty. These guys, this shop...they are the real McCoy. Good people doing good work for the right reasons. They do business like men that are concerned with their names..Great experience. Great shop. Last of the breed.Service: Transmission

My truck has been to this transmission shop five times now since February just got it back two days ago and it has been sitting in the same spot for two days and has not been started and it still leaking transmission fluid after they rebuilt the transmission. Not to mention I drop $1900 in front of them with the confidence that they would take care of it and fix it correctly the first time. Now here I am five months later with only 24 miles on a fresh transmission rebuild and still having issues. My truck sat there for almost 2 weeks the last time I took it only to be lied to and told that they fixed it when they absolutely did not touch it . After seeing my truck sit there for so long I finally got fed up with it got my spare key and went and took my truck back they didn't even know that my truck was gone. The next time I'll be in contact with this transmission shop will be through a third-party . I do not recommend taking your vehicle there they talk the talk but can't walk the walk !

I had a horrible noise coming from what I thought was the transmission. I figured it was a $3000 noise. Mike and I did a test drive and he looked under the truck. He found a loose heat shield. It had to go up on the lift to be fixed. Only charged me $20! Honest and inexpensive.

This entire establishment is a customer service nightmare. The only person I would recommend going here are people that like to get treated poorly. Clearly money is the only motivation for the employees here, customer satisfaction is not. Tread lightly on this establishment
