I would strongly suggest against doing business with this company. It appears the owner values his emotions more than his loyal customers, who have supported him for years and referred many others to him. The problem began with the SIXTH family vehicle we brought to him in late 2021, which my husband asked the owner to lower to remove a gap in the wheel well, but specifically requested that it not be lowered too much so that it could be driven daily. Unfortunately, the owner lowered it to his liking, and when my husband picked it up and asked why the car was so low, the shop owner expressed that he thought it looked way better this low. This resulted in every bump, parking lot, and speed bump scraping the living life out the bottom of the car daily.Starting in 2020 - 2022, my husband faced serious health problems, several hospital stays, major surgery while operating his busy business. He contacted Max, the owner of this shop, regarding issues with the car being too low. Max promised to fix it but only within a specific timeframe, even though he did the opposite of what was asked and was still paid for it. Due to my husband operating a very busy business himself, his health issues constantly put operations behind, so now he had to find the time to take the vehicle back within a certain timeframe because the mechanic did the opposite of what a paying customer asked.As a business owner, Max should definetly have honored a bit of leniency, considering the time my husband did not have, the inconvenience of even having to go back again since this mechanic did what he thought "looked good" versus what the paying customer asked and still paid him for.Due to health issues, plus my terminally ill mother living with us, and a busy business, we let this incident slide. In September 2023, my husband gave Max another chance, sending a list of repairs needed. The car stayed at the shop for 20 days. When it was finally picked up, it was parked in a mud puddle in the grass under a tree like a junk car, both the interior and exterior trashed, including extensive damage on the custom wheels.Overall we paid $ 155 to tow the car to this shop. My husband paid another $529.23 to Mint Hill Automotive at pick up; again none of the repairs needed were done. The car broke down minutes later, incurring another $155 tow fee to another mechanic and another $233.22 battery replacement cost. We then paid the other mechanic who fixed everything for $210.15Overall the entire ordeal cost us $ 1,282.90Please allow me to mention that for the entire 20 days, we were dealing with HOA complaints and fine threats due to having a commercial vehicle (husband's work vehicle) parked in our driveway, and we are still waiting to hear back if we were fined for this.Despite this ordeal and all the damage to the vehicle, Max refused a refund, citing my husband's upset tone. As small business owners ourselves, we jump hoops for our customers, and take many unpleasant calls, emails and tones 99.99% of the time due to customers not reading our agreements. We never ever get defensive, nor do as we please and expect them to pay for something they never even asked for nor would we ever charge them for a service we never even attempted to complete. This shop owners negligence and unprofessionalism are very evident in the attached pictures.

Honest work at a fair price. They have worked on two of my vehicles and I never felt any negative feelings on their evaluation. On more than one occasion they have suggested against doing additional work I requested saving me hundreds because it they felt it was unnecessary. I have done business with them 6 times and each repair was completed when promised and repaired properly.

This is a quality business. I feel very comfortable bringing my vehicles here. They have always diagnosed the problem first, inform me as to what I have, then give me the option whether to have them fix it or not .WITH NO PRESSURE TACTICS INVOLVED. And everything they have done has been to my satisfaction. I know when I have a car issue, the people here genuinely care about solving the problem and getting my car back to me ASAP! They really understand that people need their vehicles without unnecessary delay.

Convenient, friendly, knowledgeable and fast service describes this shop. I popped in for transmission and coolant system fluid replacement and got excellent service for an affordable price. They re also approachable for general auto advice. Would definitely recommend these mechanics for anyone in the Mint Hill, NC area. A++

Always had good experiences here! I like to spend my money with small local business instead of car dealerships that try to sell me stuff I don't need on my older vehicles. The people here are great and communication for repairs is solid.I leave here with a realistic idea of what my car may need in the future without all the sales pressure. Been bringing my cars here for years. Happy customer

Come see Max and the team, great people and fair pricing for work on your vehicle. I've had them do everything from oil changes, inspections, and brakes all the way to a rebuild on my Honda Element for Pistons, Rings, and a new head. And a transmission for my Tacoma!Good group of people, clean shop and nice waiting area

Max and his crew were outstanding, Max resurfaced my wife s rotors and performed a service. Her vehicle is back to running better than before. Max also noticed her tires were worn and unsafe. He quickly was able to find the best price on tires and was able to replace them ensuring her vehicle was safe again for my kids. Highly recommend for any of your automotive needs! These guys are simply the best in the Charlotte area. Probably even farther, but I do not go that far to get my car repaired. Now having said that, Max and the gang are as honest as it is going to get. Sometimes a little too honest. But at least you know the truth. I have brought in three different vehicles to Max in the last 18 months. In all 3 cases, he fixed the cars as quick as possible, and was highly fair in cost. Interestingly, the first one, a Ford Explorer, was deemed unrepairable by both the Ford dealer mechanic and another repair shop. That, and the fact we passed it everyday on the way home. You know what they say- Location, Location, Location! Well, we brought it into Max, and after a very long conversation about life, love, and the pursuit of happiness, Max got his guys to work and they pinpointed the problem and fixed it in one day's time. It was seriously impressive, and surprisingly cheap (Max- if you read this do not raise prices). Best of all, it was fixed. Well then there was the Chevy Cruze. That was a nightmare scenario that Max and his guys were able to fix up for us and get it back on the road again. Word to the wise- avoid at all costs any Chevy dealers located in Matthews. Whatever you do, no matter if your name is Bill, or your name is Jacob, avoid it. Well we just got to visit Mint Hill Automotive for a third time with the Escape. Problem diagnosed, repaired, and returned in less than 1 day. He always makes time, not only for us, but for every customer. I cannot figure out how they do it, but I do see the garage opened after 5PM on the way home from baseball practice with my son a lot. So maybe they throw time at it. Whatever it is, they do a fantastic job at fixing problems and getting customers moving again. I just moved back to mint hill and needed to find a mechanic . They were kind professional and the prices were professional. They even helped my daughter s car when she didn t have an appt. I will definitely be coming back for service of my car

DO NOT RECOMMEND, AT ALLBEWARE OF THIS BUSINESS AND BUSINESS OWNER - MAX RATHBUN...If I can rate his business, there would be NO STARS AT ALL- he bandaid fixes, just to get paid and get his customers out of his face- he had my car for over 20 days & did not fix anything & tells me it's ready, come pick car up- he told me, i have a bad battery - which i told him numerous times - it's an electrical issue. told me, mobile car mechanic is stupid and dont know what he's talking about - which mobile mechanic had his diagnosis machine- from Mint Hill Automotive - I drove straight to Autozone to buy another new battery (he told me - i had to get a new battery)- car broke down again was back to not starting - wasted $ and now I have 2 new batteries- sent him a thorough list - which none of it got done and car was broke down, 20 minutes after I picked car up from Max- he will not make it right. he will not refund me and told me "I'm washing my hands so go find someone else"- car is filthy on the outside from being parked under a tree, in the mud. leaves all inside the trunk and all under the hood- interior of car, Max did not bother to lay down any type of protection from grease (grease stains on inside doors, console, both seats and pulled out all my stuff in glove and dumped it on floor board. tore my trunk lining out and left it all tossed in trunk. all of my rims are chipped up and he will not fix.- when confronted - Max gets emotionally charged and reacts unprofessionally and he is the business owner. instead of making it right, he was constantly talking over me and constantly defending himself- i gave him plenty of chances to make it right and even let him think about it, over an entire week and it takes me to reach back out to him- his pride is more important than keeping his customers happy and that's such bad business for this business owner- he is a scammer and doesn't know all about car mechanic work but he takes in whoever and jerry rigs people's cars, just to get paid and push people out of the doorI have plenty of proof pictures of my car and screenshots of all of the text communicationsTHIS BUSINESS OWNER MAX RATHBUN IS NOT HONEST AND I'M NOT EVEN SURE IF HE EVEN KNOWS WHAT HE'S DOING

This is the best auto shop I have been to. The prior owner unfortunately passed away a year or two back and I was worried when the new owner took over, you know how most mechanic shops are. But he is a great owner and has taken care of us. I am so thankful to this shop for keeping us on the road and performing fair priced repairs. I never have to double check to see if they actually changed the oil and they always take a good look at the problem i bring them. They are trustworthy and honorable and kind and I will sing their praises to anyone looking for a good mechanic. Please bring them your business :)

If I could give more than 5 stars I would - Max and his team always go above and beyond to diagnose and fix our two vehicles. Recommend them to anyone in the area looking for an excellent local repair shop. Max has gone as far as to diagnose our car on the spot in the parking lot *twice*.Over the last 2 years, we have had a variety of work done at MH Auto, ranging from basic maintenance (fixing bad battery connections) to larger projects like replacing our entire heating/cooling system + radiator. We've always been given a fair price, the work is done quickly and with high quality. If you ever have any concerns or questions, the team is happy to assist and help you understand your maintenance situation. For larger projects, they are happy to give you the time you need to make a decision that fits your needs. Their front office calls you as soon as there's any update on your vehicle, and is very polite as well as knowledgeable.Whenever our cars have any issue (we have an '05 Toyota and an '08 Buick that we like to maintain) we don't hesitate to take it in to MH auto. To list the work that we've had done, Max and team have:Replaced brake pads + turned rotors (2 vehicles)Replaced Bad Wheel Bearing (2 vehicles)Replaced Catalytic ConverterFixed bad battery connectionsFixed faulty AC and refilled coolantFull replacement of heating/cooling system + radiatorBasic oil change + tire rotationsTheir work has never had an issue, and I'm confident that our cars will last many miles to come.My only issue is that I'm moving soon and will have to find a new mechanic!

Blown away by the customer service. Quoted me at no cost and were willing to work with me financially. Best auto shop experience I ve had.Update 5/8/23: If I could give a billion stars, I would. They truly put customers first with very fair prices and stand behind their work. I had my brakes replaced and started experiencing some squealing not long after, so I gave them a call and they resolved the issue promptly, compassionately, and free of charge. HIGHLY recommend.

Max and his team are amazing. They do everything from an oil change to a major repair. Pricing is more than reasonable and the work is excellent, never had an issue after a repair, unlike the dealerships. He also has very accommodating scheduling. Called up Mint Hill Automotive twice for estimates on routine maintenance, both calls were pleasant experiences, the 2nd time Seth was thorough,kind,and patient with his questions and offered me a reasonable quote for the service I needed. I made an appt for the next day at 8am. I arrived a few minutes early and Seth didn't make me wait until 8 to take my information and keys. Work was finished before 12noon. I arrived and waited for the receptionist to compete her call. She finished and immediately greeted me and asked me how my day was. All the work I requested was completed and the customer service left me with a smile.The work was just completed but so far so good. Car is driving smooth.I look forward to returning to Mint Hill Automotive for car service in the future.

I had a serious break down of my vehicle within weeks after purchase. Max and his team diagnosed the the isses(s) and worked diligently to get my SUV safely back on the road. This was our first time using this shop. Our car started overheating and needed the thermostat replaced. They were able to work us in pretty quick. Not being familiar with our car they gave it thorough inspection, found a few small things that needed done and discovered the rear breaks were beginning scrape. They gave us a fair quote on making the extra repairs needed and had our car ready to go the following day. Several weeks later we couldn't be happier, our car has been running great. With their attention to detail the folks at Mint Hill Automotive saved us time and money by catching an issue with our brakes before it got bad and took care of us while the car was already in there shop.

I got my oil changed here on an earlier date. I thought I had two oil changes since then. The owner Max let me know that the same filter that he put in my car was still there from when he changed the oil. It's a shame that this world doesn't have many honest people.Max is honest with very good prices and does things right in a timely manner. That's so rare these days.
