You can drive straight here but I'd recommend parking at the lower lot and taking the short 15 minute hike - it is worth it

This place have been on my bucket list for quite a good time, I m glad I was able to finally enjoy Grandfather Mountain Top of the mountain and the Mile high bridge . The weather was perfect sunny butter windy there is so much wind on top of the mountain since there is not tree or nothing to stop or cut the air, I took the trail to Mcrae peak and I got stop at the bottom of the trail where the step ladders start, because of the amount of people hiking the trail

Great lot! Free to park after your pay your hefty admission fee. You can just drive straight up to a stunning overlook! Plenty of parking.

Parking may fill up during sold out days, plan on using Grandfather Mountain Hiking Trails lot if that happens. There is trail designated to hike between there and Mile High Bridge known as the Bridge Trail. It's 0.4 Miles (one-way) Plan for small hike to take 15 min up and 10 min down. Also, this section of the mountain can act as a wind tunnel. You may feel your car is about to blow off the side of the mountain if you are here on a windy day. (Gusts can reach 100 mph in extreme conditions). Weather is unpredictable on this mountain.

Close trails (which they don't own, but they hide this) whenever they feel like it, with no notice.

This place is outstanding. The views are incredible.We came on October 27, with 80 degrees in the base and 60 up there. It wasn't very windy and the skies were clear and sunny.Amazing place to bring the entire family. We enjoyed our time here and in the future might consider coming in the morning to enjoy more time here.

Great party to spend a day or two. There is a small so with bears, moose and balls eagles. Plenty of hiking, a needs and amazing views.
