When people say their looking for a good mechanic it's definitely not easy to find one, unless you go to dean's performance. Dean is very friendly and knowledgeable and called me about every step going forward with the repairs on my 95 lexus sc400. He instructed me on the next steps to fixing my car, what I should really look into fixing next, he's honest, he's straight forward. He did an amazing job on my car, the car needed wheel bearings badly,I had brought the car to another mechanic, but just didn't feel comfortable leaving my baby there. Five minutes into talking to Dean, I knew I was only bringing my cars to him from this point on. He made me feel comfortable about leaving my car with him. Again he did an amazing job the car drives and feels like a new car, I'm very pleased with the work, and the price. I would highly recommend them. They say what they do, and do what they say. You wouldn't go to a veterinarian for heart surgery, don't just go to any mechanic for you repair needs. Dean's performance is definitely the only place I will take my cars from now on. Dean s Performance is THE ONLY shop to go to. After going to the same alignment guy for 8 years they decided to not take care of the little guys anymore. I was in a pinch and needed a suspension lookover and overall inspection of my car before I took it to a road race event. Dean was able to take me in within 2 days. Their inspection went above and beyond. They saw my transmission was extremely low on fluid and topped it off. Saw some shoddy welds done on subframe connectors. Also found play in my steering rack. I was never once pushed to have the work done by them. I m a do it yourself kind of guy so most stuff I can handle. Overall they did a FANTASTIC job of making sure my car was SAFE to drive on track and showed me videos and pictures of what needed to be done. I will be going back to Dean for all of my automotive needs.Services: Transmission, Steering & suspension repair, Wheel alignment

I was dealing with low compression and a revving idle. The engine light was blinking. Dean got me in and had my car ready in a reasonable amount of time and for a fair rate. This is my first review, but he s provided great service for me and my family for years. Thanks Dean!

I m so thrilled to have found a mechanic we can trust. My husband and I both switched to Dean s Performance and Racing and Automotive. I was using a repair shop, that specializes in BMWs, that I thought I could trust. One day I got a warning light that I needed to add oil immediately. Clearly this was not a new issue yet my old mechanic never noticed the problem. I had been diligent about having the oil changed regularly. The old mechanic had just replaced the rotors. I noticed that the wheels we re getting dirty but I didn t know why. Turns out they we re using cheap rotors instead of ceramic rotors.My husband used a local mechanic that we also trusted. He was told he needed an engine replacement. We took his car to Dean s where they diagnosed that the mechanic had overfilled the oil tank! No new engine needed.Today I bought my car to BMW for a recall repair. They said they would also do a five point inspection. I expected them to tell me all kinds of things that needed to be done. Instead they found nothing wrong with my 2007 BMW - all thanks to the great mechanics at Dean sIt s an enormous relief to find a trustworthy mechanic. Thank you Dean!

Deans was there for us when we had a serious issue with a coolant leak in our older vehicle. The time and attention they took to fix our car is very much appreciated! I have never been more pleased when having our cars serviced than with Dean s Performance in Leland. Dean and his staff are professional and courteous. When I ve run into a situation that requires prompt service, Dean has always accommodated me. The best news is that Dean offers excellent service for a very reasonable price. Can't say enough good things about this shop. Was in a bind with a used car I had purchased a week ago and was referred to Dean by a good friend. He was able to look at my car right away and not only did he explain to me in detailed words I could understand, but took me into the shop to actually show me the problems. We made a plan to fix what was most important concerning safety issues and my budget right away, as well as what could wait for now. Dean was able to get my parts expedited and the job done in just a couple of days, so I was able to have piece of mind before taking an important road trip this weekend. The shop is very clean and well maintained. The mechanics are knowledgeable, efficient and super polite. Customer waiting area was also clean and comfortable. Don't think I will be trusting anyone else to work on my vehicles from here on out! Truly good and honest bunch of guys!

Would HIGHLY RECOMMEND. I brought in my late model work and grocery go getter for a leaky undercarriage and other issues I thought weren't that bad. Dean thoroughly took his time to inspect my concerns and others I didn't know about. We both agree to a course of action that would keep me and my family safe while we where traveling in the Vehicle. Our plan was to do everything as economical as possible. There is a Angel that works as a Mechanic and he lives in Leland. If you want your family to be safe and not get taken advantage of or lied too.. Go see my man Dean he will take good care of you. He has earned my business for life and as long I need something worked on or mechanical advice. Keep up the good work Dean and stay blessed.

They were able to solve an issue with a tire pressure light on my dash that the dealership spent several months and lots of money on. I have always from Day1 had a very positive experience with Dean's Performance. Dean is very informative and her knowledgeable when it comes to Vehicles(he knows his stuff) he always let you know what problems he's found concerning your vehicle ,he's very honest about cost &repairs and trys to make sure that repairs are within reasonable means for the customer. Dean is absolutely the best that you could ever hope for. straight forward and honest master mechanic that has a deep passion for classic cars and knows exactly how to repair. I took a classic vette to him that others in the area totally butchered without my knowing and Dean instantly found others mistakes. not only did he correct them he was half the price of larger dealers while having 10x the amount of knowledge. if you want honest and trustworthy Pease take any car to him...he is that good

It is rare to find an automotive specialist who is intelligent, honest, fair and informative. Dean exemplifies all of these attributes and has been a pleasure to work with on several occasions. He has my 1966 Corvette running beautifully and was able to quickly diagnose, explain in layman s terms, and correct the problem in a timely manner. A terrific resource and now a good friend. Forget about the other Speed shops in Wilmington, You want it done right you go to Dean .. No2 on tap and you dont have to wait all week for a fill like with all the others.. Helpful, Friendly, Honest "which is rare in many shops these days" and very helpful with questions.. Good guy..
