My truck started leaking gas when I was at our house in Corolla. The gasket around the fuel pump on top of the tank went bad. The Chevy dealer couldn't fit me in for a week and I needed to be back in NJ before then. Outer Banks Automotive fit me in and had my car done in a day. They charged me a very fair price and I'm very pleased with the job they did. I highly recommend them.

We just came down for the weekend crossed the bridge and our service brake assist alert came on. After two tries at other places this was the first and only one that would even look at our vehicle. They did great! Fixed us up even though they don t work weekends and we enjoyed our weekend in OBX and had our truck back and fixed to return home on Sunday. Would recommend highly! Thanks again for the awesome customer service!

Was available the day after Labor Day for same day analysis and work. Was on vacation and was in good hands. Took great care of my rear brakes by replacing pads and releasing stuck calipers. Happy with turnaround time and price. No issues with vehicle since. Thank you!

I had an issue with my van while on vacation and had it towed to this shop based on reviews. They told me I needed a new radiator and it would cost around $900. Asked some questions and have some basic knowledge about cars and was able to point out that there was a much cheaper and simpler fix (replace coolant fill neck) and they were able to get me taken care of quickly for $200. Ultimately, the fix was done well and I'm giving the benefit of the doubt, but it didn't make me feel great that I had to identify the appropriate repair to save $700.

We had an issue with our AC while on vacation. They were able to squeeze us in same day and worked late to have it resolved in a matter of hours! All for a VERY affordable price. We were so grateful - they really saved our vacation!

My Jeep Wrangler was having trouble starting. I scheduled a time to bring it to OBX Auto Repair and they replaced the starter same day. Price was reasonable and fair, and they were great to deal with. Really nice people. Scott was the mechanic that fixed it, and he was great to work with. Jeep is running great now, no problem starting it. Couldn t be happier. Definitely recommend them for your auto repairs!Service: General repairs & maintenance

Staying in Kitty Hawk and while awaiting our beach house to be cleaned, I realized my truck had a brake fluid leak. I called them on Monday as soon as they opened and he told me to bring it in and should have it fixed in a couple of days. I got a call about 4:30 that night saying the truck was ready to be picked up. The price was fantastic as well. I would recommend them to anybody.Service: Brakes

Outer Banks Automative saved our vacation!!! 2012 Honda Odyssey, 2 cylinders misfiring, timing off, replaced 2 plugs and one coil. Not terribly expensive or complicated but hard for me to diagnose with no tools or anything. Easier to get it towed and let a pro look at it. Seriously, from breakdown to tow to assessment/diagnostic to repaired was about 5 hours. Scott and Amanda communicated very well with us, were very knowledgeable and were extremely empathetic to the out-of-towners. They took a stressful situation and made it an easy afternoon. What a joy to work with!! Nobody wants to breakdown while on vacation. But if you do, call these guys. They had other cars on the lot to work on, but were kind enough to get me taken care of super fast!! They earned all the good karma that day. Big thanks and high fives to them!!

We travelled from MN to the OBX and as we arrived on a Sunday. Upon our arrival I needed a brake caliper replaced that had hung up during the last several miles of our drive. I stopped at Outer Banks Automotive Monday upon their opening and although the parking lot was full of repairable vehicles, they completed the required work (front and rear brakes along with new rotor and caliper on a rear) and contacted me before their business day was done (same day). My hope when I dropped the vehicle off was to have it back by the following weekend for our drive home. The work and the staff were top notch! Highly recommend.Service: Brakes

Was on vacation and the the last thing you want is your car to have issue. Was stressing about it, and decided to Looks up local mechanics. Which can can be stressful because you are out of state. After looking up some mechanics in the area and the Outer Banks Automotive Repair came up with good reviews. Stop buy that morning and got us in that day. It was a easy fix had us out in ten minutes and Price is very reasonable. The owner and I think it was his wife are really friendly and very knowledgeable. I would recommend anybody go there, whether on vacation or you live in the Outer Banks if you have any car issues. Thank you for making are vacation a great one. If I could give you a higher star rating I would.Service: Air conditioning

If I could rate less I would!!!We dropped off 2 tires on the rim. We just needed to put the good tire on the good rim.My pregnant Daughter and Son-in-law was stranded for over 2 hours at Walmart waiting for them to do this. I didn't expect them to drop everything to help us but $80 for a tire change that's off the vehicle already!!!Then on top of that they damaged the valve stem so they had a flat the next morning.I do not recommend using this hole in the wall shop. These crooks take advantage of you.

We had driven to Duck for vacation with our extended family, when our 2008 Honda Odyssey broke down in the beach house driveway. My husband and son in law realized that apparently the alternator had failed. We were able to drive it to Outer Banks Automotive Repair, six miles away in Kitty Hawk. Owner mechanic Scott reassured us that we could get it back in time to drive home later in the week. He had a problem getting the rusted bolts out to replace the alternator, and worked late after closing to get the job done. We are very grateful to him for his help and highly recommend his business!

The team at Outer Banks Auto Repair was so very helpful and accommodating! We were on vacation (of course) from NY and my truck broke down in a parking lot. I read the reviews on Google and everyone said how awesome this place is,,, and it really was! They stayed late on a Friday to fix my truck so we could hit the road on a Sunday. The team was so helpful and understanding. They did what they said they were going to do, on-time and with a reasonable price for their services.Service: Electrical repair

I was looking for a new local mechanic, and saw the great reviews online. We brought our vehicle in because it had started making a rattling noise under load, and we're pretty sure it was the heat shield but just wanted to make sure. My husband said first thing when he got there that was the reason why we brought it in. Scott took a look, grabbed gauges and a tank, a proceeded to add refrigerant and then the compressor started kicking off (we just had the compressor replaced at Subaru the week before and the a/c was working just fine before we got there). He then said we had an issue with compressor. Well, after arguing on why he would do that and making him release pressure, the a/c started working again. After my husband argued with him, he said "oh wait you are not in here for your a/c? I'm sorry I had a Subaru coming in and mixed you up". We had said right when we got there why we were there. We left after that. Now we have to go and find another place to get a check on our A/C system that was just repaired to make sure the levels are correct, and have another issue to deal with along with confirming our suspicion on the rattle. Would not recommend them at all, and I'm disappointed that they would do something like this.

We got a flat tire on arriving in OBX. We stopped into Outer Banks Automotive. They checked our tire which was ruined, We had a tire shipped in and they mounted and changed the new tire at a fair and reasonable price. On top of that they were very pleasant and accommodating!

I ran over a screw while on vacation in Outer Banks. Called OB Automotive, and he told me to bring my car over. 20 minutes and $15 later I was back on the road. The plug held all the way home. So grateful for high quality work at a reasonable price. Go see this guy!!

Had a serious car issue while on vacation this past week. Kevin was so helpful. Our car was towed into his shop late afternoon, he stayed late to check it out and work on it , and then stayed even later for us to be able to pick it up at night so we could make our scheduled trip home. He went above and beyond to help us and the cost to fix our car was so reasonable. We are so grateful for his work. I would recommend this shop for anyone with any automotive issues.

Can t say enough good things about this business. Had an issue while on vacation, Auto Zone diagnostic check told us it was something serious and Outer Banks Automotive Repair quickly ruled it out and fixed the real issue in about 15 minutes. First, I don't give 5-star reviews; not lightly. I'm sorry to say I don't remember the owners name, but he went above and beyond to take care of my truck issues.I was from out-of town and he could have easily brushed me off or taken advantage of me.Instead, having just returned from vacation to many "ringing phones", he calmly asked if I could hangout for a few while he put out a few fires?Got me back on the road in short order and even refused my efforts to tip him. Highly, highly recommend this business.

Driving in to the Outer Banks we got a screw in our tire. When we called, he told us we could bring it in when we were ready and he would fit us in. When we got there, he saw us right away. He took the screw out and tested the tire to confirm there was no leak. He did not charge us and refused a tip. Nice to find a mechanic that is honest and helpful. I would highly recommend this place.Service: Tires

One of the most honest and great mechanics I've met. One of the rims on our car was damaged on the 4WD beach; Kevin was able to quickly assess and repair the rim to get us home safely. He easily could have taken us for a lot of time and money to have a new rim shipped in from the mainland. Instead, he repaired it so we could get home and have it replaced at our dealer, and charged us a very reasonable small amount for his time.If you ever have a problem with your vehicle on the Outer Banks, come here!

I had a great experience for my first time. Being away from home managing to take care of my car is hard and Kevin treated me like one of his daughters and helped me right away to make sure I stay safe. A true professional at all times and explaining everything to me in great detail. I recommend this location to everyone if you need any type of car repairs while you are in OBX.

After Driving my 4 wheel drive Honda Pilot on the 4x4 beach I noticed a spot on the ground under my truck. It was some kind of oil I thought it was transmission fluid. Well I was leaving the next day for home in Pennsylvania and knew I had to get it fixed. I found Bruce who was a God sent he's a little rough around the edges but he is a great mechanic and human being. I called him, he said bring it right over and he would take a look. After putting it up on the lift he found the problem. I had cracked the power steering line which was causing the leak. It was now after hours and he told me the Honda dealer was closed and he wouldn't be able to get the part until Monday. He could tell I was very disappointed and said let me see what I can do. So long story short he cut out the cracked portion of the power steering line and put in steel braded hose. He said that should get you home. He could of charged me any amount of money and I would of paid it but being the honest man he is he the repair was less that $70.00 and that was 3 years ago to this day I have had no problem with that truck.Service: Engine repair

After vacationing on the 4x4 beach, our truck started to overheat while on our way home. Made it here and even though the owner (and the only mechanic there) was extremely busy, he took time out of his busy schedule to give us a diagnosis. He quickly called for a part for us, and had us back on the road in under an hour. It was a good enough fix for us to make it all the way back home, a nine hour trip! I hope I won t ever need the help again so far from home, but if I ever was in that situation again I wouldn t hesitate to return. Honest and hardworking mechanic, which is hard to find. So grateful!
