Had really bad experience took car to him to get checked out they said it was fine they aligned it take it back a couple days later and they tell me oh you have bad tie rod ends you need to get them changed after they told me they were good to start with so now I have to get them changed and have it aligned again the guy didn't even want to do the work he just likes to rip people off and act like he is better than everybody else

We have used this mechanic shop before and anticipated that we would be giving a glowing review. In the past they have done good work, been honest, communicated effectively, and offered excellent customer service. This is how our most recent interaction started and they seemed to be going above and beyond expectations. However, when we tried to speak with the owner to clear up a misunderstanding and resulting problem, he immediately became defensive and yelled at us. He was so focused on ranting about his position that he wouldn t listen when we explained how we had not been contacted as an employee had claimed and been given incorrect information on a prior visit. The employee who again insisted that he had called us is one of the reasons we d previously judged the shop as honest. So, I double checked the records from our phone service provider and there is not an incoming call that could have been from them.

Absolutely amazing! My boyfriend went to them yesterday and today and he had nothing but good things to say about the company and the men working there. Our van was fixed quickly and without breaking the bank. They were very open and honest they even let my boyfriend look at the rotar they had to replace. I now feel safe having my daughter in the car! Thank you all so much!! We will be coming back!Services: Auto brake repair, Brakes

He gave me a wheel alignment with bald tires on my car and told me that it's okay to have them done with he didn't let me go get new tires for my I ended up going somewhere else after he gave me a wheel alignment

OK, So I read All of the reviews before I took my Ford Expedition to have work done on it.. I Don't know what all of these people are Complaining about. Because I did not have any of that when I went there. The Young man at the desk was very friendly, I told him what i need to have done and I had the parts, He said he would let them know. When they pulled my ford into the bay to work on it. I stepped out side to make a call . In about 5 mins the Mechanic came and told me that some of the parts I had, I did not need to replace and where I got the parts from I could take back and get my money back. After showing me that the part was in good shape. I told him thank you for being honest because most places would have put in on and charged me for it even though I didn't need it. They are a great value, They same me money and do great work, My experiences with this shop was Great, I don't know what some people are talking about. I'm telling you if you want a great place to get you auto worked on This is the place. Great People, friendly and Honest 3 things you don't Normally get in a shop... They will get my business for here on.. If you need a shop try them out.. I recommend them 100%

Got me a Wheel Alignment on 2/24/21 I noticed that car was not driving straight when I let go off the steering wheel when on highway and my steering wheel not straight, I called to explain, what's going on and see if I can bring it back, I was told that at the bottom of the receipt there is only a two day warranty. So that means I paid $78 and I would have to pay that again and only been two weeks. SMH nobody told me that during check out. Friendly people. Customer Service was great, I was recommended by people in the area since I just moved here.Service: Wheel alignment

VERY POOR WORK (see attached image)!! Took my Toyota Tacoma here for an alignment after purchasing brand new tires from Walmart. I should have known something was wrong when the technician drove my truck out on the road 7 or 8 times while doing the alignment which took 2 hours (I was the only customer there). The guy working the front desk explained that when the tech drove it, it was still pulling. When I left this establishment the truck drove straight so I was satisfied. I did notice there was a subtle shaking at about 65 mph on the highway. To someone who is not a mechanic, that usually means a tire balancing issue. I took it back to Walmart to rebalance the brand new tires they'd just installed. After Walmart balanced the brand new tires again, the shaking continued. I finally took it to Toyota of Gastonia and they said the alignment was WAY off and that's why the truck shook going down the highway. The management of this establishment refused to provide a refund for their terrible work because I didn't bring it back within 2 days. I do not recommend taking your vehicle to this place! The attached image was sent to me by Toyota of Gastonia to show how bad the alignment was.

Affordable car care delivered from a family owned business. And it doesn't hurt that the family is pretty darn cool. I recommend this place when anyone asks about car care.

Needed an alignment and Automax was one of shops suggested. I called first and they said they could get me in pretty quick. Told them I wanted a 4 wheel alignment but when they finished said I only needed the cheaper 2 wheel alignment because of the type of vehicle. The price was very fair and they got me out in around 30 minutes which is what he stated when I arrived. We chatted about the work and tires and he was very knowledgeable. He stated they work on anything with a piston which is good to know for future reference. The waiting area could use updating but that would be my only fault.

This place charged my friend $600 to replace her alternator, 10 minutes after picking her car up it cut off not to Mention all of a sudden her AC stopped working (it worked perfectly before the repair) When she returned to have them fix the problem again and the new issue they became rude, hostile and even called the police saying she threatened them. They take advantage of women and are dishonest. I would not recommend this place to anyone

Pony tail hair boy in the office was real unprofessional and rude would not recommend you would be better off to take your money somewhere else they used to be a good shop but has went down hill in the last few years, Would not recommend they are not friendly at all, All they care about is your money and not there customer's but what they need to realize is they only have a shop because of customers spending there hard earned money to make the company evolve! They should start by training there staff to treat customer's with respect unlike how pony tail boy handles the shops business in the office he was very unprofessional! Will not be going back because the lack of training is very noticeable and I did not have a good experience with Auto Max Service Center! And of course the OWNER just replies with OK for the comment and don't apologize for his rude employees or don't offer to fix his employee but thats definitely not professional at all for the owner no wonder the pony tail boy acts the way he does, The owner should be a Leader not a Follower but I guess the OWNER has that same mentality as pony tail boy! Definitely Not Good Business!

I have never been to a more unprofessional garage in my life. To say the owner and mechanics are rude and unfriendly would be putting it mildly. The repairs done to my car only lasted about a week and then started happening again. They would not honor the warranty I was given. I've had them fix multiple parts and systems of my car and have always had good results at reasonable prices, anyone who complains either came on a bad day or brought it on themselves with attitude or is just rude themselves

I went here after being recommended by Discount Tire. Automax does offer a discount if you are a Discount Tire person; that part was nice. Otherwise, the customer service was not okay. While I sat in the waiting room, the owner had a screaming match with a customer than I did not witness being unreasonable... until the owner was rude. The owner charged the customer more than they quoted her and was upset the customer could not pay it.... however, they did more work on the customers car than was originally agreed upon. The owner called the customer stupid, a scumbag and rude. The entire screaming fit happened because the customer did not have the money for the 'extra' repairs the company did. I am not saying that the customer was 100% pleasant, however if I go somewhere to get a repair done I would like for the owner not to scream at other customers and call them degrading names. Furthermore, if you do more work on a vehicle than was originally intended or agreed upon by the customer, then the customer should not be expected to pay, let along degraded or screamed at. Regardless of the customers attitude the owner did not portray herself in a becoming way and was very rude. She was so rude to the other customer that I asked for keys back... however they had already began working on my car so I let them continue for my own convenience. When I asked for my keys back the owner also became rude with me. The environment created was displeasing and uncomfortable. I am also uncertain if the mechanics knew quite what they were doing. I will not be back and I will also inform Discount Tire of the behavior of the owner... after all they are referring people to her and if she usually acts that way she will give them a bad name.

Always fast, friendly service! Very experienced employees,great prices on any auto work you may need. Clean waiting area & clean restrooms which is always a plus! Very professional business. I've used them for years and will continue!! Highly recommend!!

The worst auto place I have ever been! They messed up my oil change TWICE. The first time they stripped my screw and the valvoline place would not change my oil so I had to take it back to them not only to get charged again for an oil change but only for them to mess it up for a second time! The second time they didn't tighten the screw leaving me on the side of the road with an oil leak. I called letting them know what happened and the owner was very rude yelling at me and telling me he didn't believe me also his son knew what he was doing and wouldn't mess up a car twice! I mentioned all I wanted was help not to disturb him I only expected help. I REGRET paying them so much money just to mess up my car! Finally he told me he would tow my car to him and "see" if it was his fault and if it wasn't I was gonna be left with the towing fee and all the labor charges. I finally just told him to have a wonderful day and hung up.

Went here about 5 years ago, I was told I needed a new motor put in my car. Drove it for a couple more years without any problems, also took it to another shop and was told my motor was in good condition.This place is known for trying to get people to buy refurbished motors for minor things, or to make some money off of you when nothing is actually wrong. Especially if they know you don't know much about cars. I mentioned to the man's wife at the front desk that I didn't, then she went out into the garage and spoke to her husband for a few minutes, and he came out shortly after saying I needed a new motor. Not trustworthy people at all if it's the same owners from 5-6 years ago.

I took my 2001 Jeep down to Automax to be inspected.She failed. ....but the guys at Automax were great!....They told me exactly what I needed to fix.So I got her fixed up and she passed.Everyone there was very, nice very good to me.From now on they will get my business.Lynn Fiorentino

Great Customer Service! Josh and all the mechanics were very helpful. Very fair pricing and quick turnaround. Definitely recommend and will me bringing my car back in the future for any maintenance.

I was present when Nicki Doe's so-called incident occurred. She requested a 4 wheel alignment, but complained that they only did a 2 wheel alignment, the machine showed that she didn't need the back tires aligned. The owner tried to explain to her that the back axle was one piece, it doesn't move, so there was no need to do all four tires. She got louder and louder, would not listen and talked over anyone who tried to explain to her. The owners and staff tried to calm her down. There was no name calling, no yelling or screaming except from Nickie.

This family is GREAT! I see post on here saying otherwise and it is just not true. Anytime I have a problem they fix it and at a reasonable cost. I have two cars that they have done work on and have never had any problems with the work or ever having to come back. They are located in the heart of Gastonia and some of the people come in expecting to get work done for next to nothing. The people in Gastonia seem to be the problem-have you seen some of them? Just nasty! I assume that is why their reviews are unfitting. I will never take my car anywhere else. I have never left feeling like I was disrespected or robbed. They have always been friendly. The work is guaranteed. I have been ripped off by so many people that it is a pure blessing to have a place like this to come to. They show me what is actually wrong with my car and how they fixed it. Doesn't get much better than that.

I went to this location to ask them if they could put my car on the rack just to SEE what was going on with it ! To remind you I was aware of the $9.99 rack fee . BUT INSTEAD!!!! They took it upon there self to fix it without even seeing if I had the funds , they came back & told me the total. I asked them why did they fix it when I just needed to know the problem, then the mother I'm assuming short stocky heavy set white women came out her office being rude talking for no reason when she didn't know the problem . Long story short , don't fool with them

My husband Alvin has been doing buisness with the owner Ted ever since we moved to Gastonia 6 yrs. ago. What all you people with negative comments don't understand is Ted will only do it one way. "THE RIGHT WAY". For instance I needed a brake job done and brought pads in. Ted told me you don't want these pads on your car cause you'll back in 6 months with your brakes wore out again. So he called his supplier and I went a picked up what he suggested at HIS price with no mark up. Just that itself saved me $45. So in others words you get what you give. Act like an ass and you might be treated like one! After all we're all human. I will not take my vehicle anywhere BUT there. Thanks Ted!!!!

I went to this place after being referred by Discount Tire to get an alignment. I went back to inquire about why I was charged for something other than what I asked for. The owner and his wife were VERY DEFENSIVE AND BELLIGERENT. I tried to reason with the man, telling him several times that his attitude and tone was totally not necessary. I asked him would he not want to understand what happened if it was his money? and he CONTINUOUSLY hollered over my efforts to reason with him saying "WE'RE DONE, GET OUT!" I told him as a customer, I feel he at least owed me an explanation since I didn't get what I asked for. He kept yelling, " I DON'T CARE, I DON'T OWE YOU ANYTHING!" and REFUSED to offer an explanation. Somebody in the comments said these were "good people" and "if you act like an "ass" you get treated like one." I say, "Where there's a lot of smoke there's definitely a fire so speak only about YOUR experience!" The attitude of these people says they're very confident that they can stay in business while cheating and treating people like dogs! If one is not GUILTY WHY NOT OFFER THE CUSTOMER AN EXPLANATION RATHER THAN YELLING LIKE A DEFENSIVE, HOTHEADED FOOL?! ...Do yourself a favor and stay away from these ILL MANNERED CROOKS!...June 19, 2018..Ginny Broadbent is a LIAR, likely a family member or friend but the real reviews speak for themselves. NOW they're offering an explanation which could've been politely given on the occassion. Who can't see this pattern of behavior in the other reviews? (Good customer service keeps one from having to lie and post fake, 5 star reviews.)

I went to have my car serviced and ended up being ripped off over $600 and leaving with more problems with my car than what I came with. Very unprofessional very rude even called the police on me for simply asking them to take another look at my car. My friend was threatened from a employee acting as if he was going to pull out a gun in front of his 9 yr!!!!! Do not take your vehicle here!!

A guy that performs inspection was disgustingly rude towards me. I work in customer service and am genuinely nice, and he was angry and rude at me for something I didn't know. I bought a SOUTH CAROLINA car, (SC doesn't need inspection) and the man I bought the car from left the tag on it. The "mechanic" was mad I had it on the car. He had the audacity to tell me to leave and get it off and come back. I WILL NEVER COME BACK. FIX YOUR ATTITUDE.

You get a very deep discount on an alignment if you come here after buying tires from Discount Tire in Gastonia. The only problem I had, and maybe a big one, is that they went to align my car and didn't know how to change the camber on one of my wheels. This resulted in a faulty diagnosis of "something must be bent" and a mechanic told me that I would most likely need to buy an adjustable camber link and the bolt was maxed out to positive camber. My only guess is the bolt was threaded opposite of the other side of the car and he didn't realize this. I don't even think I was being scammed I just think he didn't know exactly what he was doing and had no experience with my car. Luckily Tire Kingdom was able to align my car correctly and I don't usually like them but knew I could get a second opinion with a free alignment check. Tire Kingdom ended up aligning my car for free or else I would have given Auto Max a chance to fix their mistake. Just be careful and if they say something is wrong and you need to buy another part, get a second opinion.

They have worked on all of our trucks and cars for many years. You want to go to a place where people are honest, professional and efficient. This is the place to go!
