This group of guys is one of the nicest bunch of people that you could ask for when getting your car taken care of. Chris , the service manager is just one of the nicest guys she ll ever meet and he even came to my house personally to give me my wheel lock back when he realized that his tech didn t put it in my truck and they had the wrong phone number for me. He drove out to my house personally on the same day to make sure I had it. That s why I always go to these guys really great service!

We are fairly new to Garner and needed an auto care establishment for a routine maintenance involving an oil change and transmission flush on our Honda Minivan. We decided on these guys based on good reviews. The work was completed in a couple hours and I paid my bill and left. I drove my vehicle on the highway for the first time since the auto service on Christmas day. About 20 minutes into our trip, my wife noticed a smoky/vehicle kind of smell. I thought this was just due to new asphalt on the roads where we were traveling. By the time we got to our extended family's house, our whole engine was smoking. Naturally this is very frustrating and freaks you out, but especially so on Christmas Day for obvious reasons. We also had our 4 young kids with us. Long story short, with the help of family, we realized there was a transmission fluid leak. I had the vehicle towed to a mechanic that we trust. After he took a look at it, he told me that the transmission line had been broken and was leaking fluid all over. This was directly after Garner Auto Specialists did the transmission flush. According to the mechanic, some of the pipes had been rusty and we're severed/broken through the process of the transmission flush. What are the chances this just happened because of dumb luck while driving? I can understand if I had some pipes that needed to be replaced or repaired, but Garner Auto Specialists could have at least taken ownership and told me what happened in the process of trying to do the transmission flush. Or they could have not done the work due to the risk. I would have been reasonable and we could have worked something out if they were forthright with what happened in the process. Instead, these guys gave me back my vehicle with a serious problem and I guess they think the customer is an idiot and won't put 2 and 2 together? This is unacceptable and unethical. I will never take my vehicle here again.

We have been dealing with Chris and the guys at Garner Auto Specialists for years. They are friendly, honest, straight up, knowledgeable, experienced and totally professional. We highly recommend them!

This is an automovie repair shop that you rarely come across nowadays. Their customer service, as well as their work, is first rate. They prices are fair. They are one of the only repair shops that give dealership quality service and repairs without dealership prices. I highly recommend Garner Auto for all services.

I have been going here for a very long time and have had nothing but great experiences. Yes, some of the maintenance & repair they recommend is expensive - welcome to car ownership. Based on my experience with other shops, however, Garner Auto Specialists has never given me an unreasonable estimate, tried to upsell anything, or treated me like an idiot because of my gender. Nor do they pressure me to do any of the suggested service. Plus they have kept my husband's 2002 Silverado running for far less than the cost of a new truck. Chris & A.J. are the absolute best!

Chris at the front desk was super friendly and informative, and clearly explained everything really well. Normally I go to car mechanics and feel intimidated or talked down to, but I had a GREAT experience here, definitely will come again for future car needs!

Went in for an oil change and checkup, car is and was running fine. Care suggested was over $800USD for maintenance of dubious necessity. Oil change was speedy and service was nice but I won't be going back.

Garner Auto Specialist is the ONLY place I will take my vehicle for service! I have a 2015 Tahoe and am pretty sure it's haunted. :) It does all kinds of strange things and Chris and his team are always willing to go the extra mile to help resolve my issues. I've used them for oil changes, inspections, major AC repairs, electrical issues and everytime they EXPLAIN what's going on and have never once tried to upsell me on something. They are a group of good and honest mechanics and I highly recommend them!*Edited to add that I think some of the bad reviews on here are actually for a different shop in Garner with a similar name. *

Great group of gentlemen, awesome mechs, they get the job done. Customer service is great at the front desk.. i didn't get over charge which is the MAIN issue with people in need of getting work done on their vehicles. Ngl i thought this place was just a regular oil changing place. I was really impressed by their customer service and how they spoke to their customers. I may want to steal some of their employees to come work at my shop

I've been bringing my cars here for years. They're fast and accurate and have a Master mechanic. Whatever problems I've had with my cars - GAS has taken care of it at a good price.

These mechanics are honest (see the edit below) and won't try to sell you something you don't need. I'm very happy doing business with them!REVISION: I stopped going to Garner Auto Specialists for now because they were overcharging for oil changes (close to $100) and I discovered that their mechanics were overtightening the oil filters. They had once charged me ~$50 for a part associated with the oil change, stating that there was a car defect, but after speaking with the car manufacturer, I have my doubts about this claim. They were also encouraging me to get a transmission flush. I have learned that these flushes are ill-advised since the flush may actually dislodge particles and cause internal damage.

Great guys, great shop, incredibly professional. Had some work done and the manager was very transparent on what needed doing. However, a women came in with a 2 year old 3 series beamer and was quite rude. DID NOT PROVIDE SERVICE: BUYER BEWARETook my Audi here and asked for a simple oil change ($150) and to have coolant added in the car. They took down my number and said they would call when the car was ready in about 40 minutes. Two hours later I had to call them because I still had not received a call and they closed in 30 minutes. When I arrived they said they weren t able to add coolant because they didn t have the correct kind in shop but the oil was changed. FOUR days later (13mi) since they supposedly changed the oil, a family friend (who is a mechanic) looked at the oil and said it was BLACK and that there was no way the oil had been recently changed.I spoke with the manager (Chris) and he immediately said I don t know what you expect me to do? And that he was 100% certain the oil was changed, even though he admitted the shop had issues in the past with people not providing services!!! I also asked if he could review the cameras just to make sure and he said the cameras don t work (convenient!)Chris, I asked if I brought the car back in and showed the oil, what would that change and you shrugged your shoulders. I ve driven the car 300 miles now with the new change and the oil does not look black and does not smell burnt. How can you say you re 100% about a service if you did not provide it yourself or watch it be done?Services: Auto maintenance, Oil change

I having been living in Garner for almost 19 years and have been taking my vehicles here the entire time and they are wonderful. Their work and customer service is first rate! Chris ( manager) and his team are not only efficient, but timely as well. Would certainly recommend them to anyone who needs their vehicles serviced by a quality group.

Chris and his team are great! Like many people, I have trust issues with mechanics because of experiences with dishonest ones in the past. My preferred mechanic is in north Raleigh, which is not convenient when I live in Clayton so finding a reputable one was important. Chris was able to get me in within the hour on a Friday to look at my driver-side front window that had failed. He also was very communicative about the whole issue and was able to accommodate my schedule. I feel like I can actually trust them with my car, and I really appreciate that!

I would recommend getting a second opinion. The two times I was given a quote for an issue they said that every part related to the issue needed to be replaced. IMO they will try to take you for as much money as they can. I will never return.Edit to reply to response - I never asked for a warranty and you stated more than just the drier needed to be replaced. I was quoted compressor, condenser, and valves. Did every single one of those needed to be replaced to get my AC working again or were some of them just recommended without ever telling me they were only recommended? I want to thank you though. Your quote motivated me to fix this all myself which saved me almost $2,000 in overstated labor hours.Service: Brakes

I brought my car here a year or so ago when the bumper got detached after going over a curb wrong and they were extremely helpful in getting me up and running and recommending a good auto body shop. On that experience I recently went here for inspection and they were extremely fast and helpful. Great staff and service.

Being a mechanic of many years and knowing what it s like daily these guys here are great. I trust them and respect the level of expertise and knowledge. If you want piece of mind and comfort knowing it s been done correctly you won t go wrong here. Happily send my family and friends and know they will be treated like I would if I was working on the same car. Our company vehicles get almost everything done here exclusively.Only issue I ever have is there closed on Saturday Services: Tires, General repairs & maintenance, Oil change

This is one of my favorite places to take my car. I have taken it a while back for an inspection and decided to get my oil change here and employees are professional they are quick and they even fixed my tire pressure error without me asking. This is a very expensive place to get your car fixed. $147 for defective spark plug + wiring diagnosis and $384 in labor, excluding part cost, to replace them. Shop manager was upfront about the cost so I have no one to blame but myself. At least I know better now.Service: Auto maintenanceService: Auto maintenance

Chris and his staff are very honest people! They truly want to do what will be best for your car, not what is most expensive. My husband and I have been here several times for our vehicles, Chris and his staff are ALWAYS friendly and helpful. My husband actually dropped his wallet in the parking lot and one of the employees found it and turned it in to Chris. Chris made every attempt to contact us to make sure we knew that he had his wallet secure in his safe whenever we were able to make it by. On his day off, he saw my husband walking by and ran out to give him his wallet. I have never had a bad experience here and I will continue to go here! We live close to Garner Auto Specialists and recently while I was driving my kids to daycare I got a flat tire. I pulled over into the shop and asked if I could get my tire replaced. Seeing the situation I was in, they went completely above and beyond in getting my tire replaced within 2 hours. They even had someone drive the car back to my house after the work was completed. I was blown away by their helpfulness, compassion, and efficiency.Services: Tires, Air conditioning

We were on the road traveling from VA to a gig I had booked in Garner. Somewhere north of Durham we knew the alternator was bad. It was a Saturday and the shop closed at 2:00pm. The mechanic I spoke to on the phone said they would wait if I got there before closing time.They were absolutely remarkable. They already had the part ready to install when we pulled in about ten minutes before two. It should also be noted that we had been driving for hours and the van was coming in very hot to work on.But they never flinched. Not once. They treated us like we had a top of the line Mercedes Benz. Their prices were very reasonable, they did an excellent job and they took care of two weary travelers. The van was done in a very short order and we made it to the church on time to setup for the evening performance.I live in Pennsylvania and travel quite a bit as a musician, performer, storyteller. I don't know when I will be back in Garner, but I would highly recommend this shop to anyone. Just a fantastic experience.Service: Electrical repair
