James is wonderful to work with. My buddy and me to a 31 ford phateon to him for a whole new interior. He is very attention to detail. Even taking picture's from start to finish to detail the interior restoration! Would highly recommend for all your upholstery needs!

Used James probably 100 times in the last 20 years and I can say without a doubt, they are simply the best. Love going by to see them and their work speaks for itself. You will not be disappointed, James is the man!

I drive 1992 Toyota Hilux Surf SSR-G that comes from the factory with Recaro seats. Not cheap seats to replace especially since Recaro went out of business. The front seats had two rips apiece in them and were generally in good shape so I thought why not just have them reupholstered. Silly me for thinking I could support a local business, save a couple hundred bucks, and be happy with my decision... I very much am not. Was told it would take 3 to 4 days. Should have picked it up and not let them work on it when I got a call from James a week after dropping it off asking what it was they we're supposed to be doing to the car. Got strung along for another full 2 WEEKS after this before I could pick it up. At that point I was really just glad to have it back and parked it to do some other work not carefully enough looking over what James had just given me back. Because it is absolutely shameful. I DID NOT PAY YOU ALMOST 1,500 DOLLARS TO SMOKE IN MY CAR!!! SOMEONE AT THIS SHOP BURNED MY HEADLINER WITH A CIGARETTE AND LEFT ASH IN MY CAR. I HAVE NO DOUBT IN MY MIND THAT IT HAPPENED WHILE AT THIS SHOP. (Pics included) Not to harp on that but how hard is it to put down your cigarette for the maybe 5 minutes total it takes to bolt the seats back in. Also check out the bang up job they did on the passengers seat. LOOK LOOK LOOK no one has even sat in this seat and the staples are already pulling out.So in summary took almost 5 times longer than they said, the quality of work is extremely poor for what I paid, AND THEY BURNED MY HEADLINER WITH A CIGARETTE!!!Edit: wowowowow found another cig burn mark in the back seat...this car had NEVER been smoked, well that is until I took it to James.

these guys rock. I needed some finish caps made and the boss offered to teach me how to make them myself and let me use their button press. I even got a free t shirt. it was a great experience. I got to hangout in the shop they do great work and every one of the guys is passionate about what they do.

Panoramic Sunroof replacement - they are phenomenal. Professional, kind, efficient and the work is beautiful. Highly recommend them for difficult class replacement situations and custom auto upholstery. My standards are high and they exceeded them in service, quality professionalism. It's okay. I mean the vinyl that they were placed was a slightly lighter colored than the original but I could ignore that. However, what I can't ignore is the fact that it costed me $400 just to replace a center console Padding and the driver seat cushion. Don't they have special tools for upholstery? I mean, I'm pretty sure it didn't take that much vinyl. Not that vinyl costs that much anyway.Still I do recommend this place, but mostly because they're really isn't that many other places that do auto upholstery.Service: Upholstery repair

Meet the owner James of James Auto Upholstery. He was super friendly, helpful, and meet with me on the spot to and gave me a quote to reline the interior roof of my car. He even stuck to the price a month later when I was finally able to drop of car to get worked on. Super fast and got the car back by days end. It looks amazing, makes the car even feel young and new again. Highly recommend.

We are fortunate to have James and his crew in our vicinity! If you are refurbishing an interior of a vehicle... New leather new headliner you name it these guys can cover it and do it properly at a reasonable cost! I've been dealing with them for years and have never been dissatisfied! Highly recommend!

It was recommended I go to James Upholstery to fix a sunshade for my sunroof that was broken in my vehicle. I stopped by to have someone look at the shade to ask if they are equipped to fix and was told yes. I made an appointment and they not only didn t fix the sunshade, my sunroof no longer opens or closes. I was told I had to go to the dealership to get it programmed and they had confirmed that is all that was needed. The dealership confirmed James Upholstery messed everything up and now the entire thing needs to be replaced. And to top it off, my gas was stolen while parked in their side lot and my windows were down in the rain when I went to pick it up.

I read the other review about this place "looking like a bomb went off" and pin-up girl posters that were inappropriate for bringing your kids by... This guy has obviously never been to a GARAGE before. If you want somewhere to hang out with your kids, take them to Chuck E. Cheese's. If you want to have QUALITY upholstery work done, GO SEE JAMES! They did an amazing job on my little Toyota pickup! I picked out the colors I wanted, James ordered the vinyl, and the seat was finished a day later. Unlike the other reviewer, I WAS quoted a price before the work began. WHO DOESN'T ASK HOW MUCH SOMETHING IS GOING TO COST BEFORE THEY BUY IT? Duh. I met Don and a few other employees who worked on my seat and everyone was super nice and PROUD of their work. - and they should be! I have to admit I was skeptical about quality work coming out of a small shop in Fletcher, but BOY DID THEY EXCEED MY EXPECTATIONS!!! I will definitely recommend these guys to anyone in need of a good upholstery shop. This wasn't their first rodeo and it showed in the craftsmanship! Thanks James (and crew) for making my truck look great!

The staff are friendly . I had bought custom fit seat covers for my Truck and I needed help getting them on. The guy that worked on it was awesome and took the time to do it right. I really appreciated the help. The parking is in a bad spot directly off 25 with a small area to park in.

James Auto did a great job replacing the carpet in my new Ford 150. They have had some problems getting paid from Allstate Insurance and he has tried not to involve me. The ONLY thing I did not like was the location. The shop is right on Hwy 25 and there is no place to park. You take your life in your own hands trying to pull in so I parked next door. The building is completely full of stock and old cars that there is no room to move. The staff is friendly and helpful. James is a nice guy, straight forward, up front and honest. I would go back again.

BETTER THAN ORIGINAL!! Took my Mercedes Motorhome to James Upholstery. I'm PICKY and I hated to spend the money, BUT: He took so much time with me - picking out fabric - advising me - but NEVER a hard sell for anything. Didn't try to sell me anything I didn't need. Didn't try to up-sell to all leather. Explained exactly what he would do, found a fabric that matched what I had. He has a warm personality; laid back, knows his stuff, and gave me a reasonable price. Took all the time in the world as though I was the only customer. Just take a look at the vehicles in his shop - incredible antiques and high-end vehicles. Picked up my RV last week. Honestly - it looks better than my originals! Leather/vinyl is tight, seams are neat, straight, even. Armrests, too - perfect. Quality fabric and quality job. I am delighted.

Great work! They have upholstered several different pieces from me. The work is done well and promptly. Their shop is not the cleanest, but it does not take away from the quality of work. James and his crew are extremely skilled at auto upholstery.

My wife had her soft top done on her mustang here. These guys were efficient, fair priced, did an amazing job, and were quick! I will come back here if I need anything done in the future!

The good: James is a nice guy, easy to deal with and very friendly. The work they did upholstering my seat was acceptable (except for the part they forgot to do).The bad: It took 4 times longer to complete than he said it would. I was not quoted a price but charged twice as much as purchasing a brand new seat. I should have asked for a price up front, so that's what I get for assuming what it will cost. I was going to complain, but I'd rather do it here so everyone else can see it, too. They do not communicate, either. I was told on three separate occasions that I would be called regarding the status of my order, but they never did.Most disappointing to me, however, is that they didn't do everything they said they would do. The biggest issue with the seat was lack of back support causing the foam to sag through the frame - I was told they would add some backing to keep that from happening again. Did they? No, and I have a saggy seat and it is very frustrating.The ugly: Their shop looks like a bomb went off and reeks of cigarette smoke and adhesive chemicals. Scattered and disorganized. No one knows anything except for James and you can stand around forever waiting to talk to him for 2 minutes. Parking is virtually non-existent, so take your chances getting towed next door at the bank. They have calendar-girl type pictures up all over the front wall, great for when you take your children by.Bottom line: I won't use them again.

There's not alot of people left in the area that do this type of work. There was Als art craft in Asheville for along time, but theyre closed down now. James is another one thats been around along time and there is a reason for that. I took one of my cars here years ago to do suede headliner, visors and back window. The price was incredible. I just brought another car to him recently for the exact same thing. He remembered me and charged me the same price as 8 years ago. They do great work, at a great price and they have great customer service. Go to them, you wont be disappointed.

This repair shop is totally awesome. They fixed my two front seats, they both look brand new. I would highly recommend this place. The owner James is first class.

Fantastic family owned shop. Came in the day before just seeing when I could come in and get my driver seat fixed. They were able to fit me in the next day and at a reasonable price. Very friendly and knowledgeable!!!!! Thanks guys seat is great!!!

A different shop bailed on my appointment so I took it here very last minute and they were still able to work me in. Did a great job and wish I stopped by here first to begin with. Very easy to work with and will definitely be back.

I cannot speak for the quality of work but I certainly can say the prices are outrageous. I've had upholstery done for the last 50 years and I could not believe the price he quoted me just to repair a seat.

This place made me wish I had more auto upholstering needs! Such a classic retro vibe with hardworking, honest folks. They knew exactly what I needed when I described my problem over the phone and stuck to the original quote even though they ended up staying late to get it done in the time we had discussed.

I walked in to get a quote for a leather seat repair, looked up and saw the giant Confederate flag on the wall over the door, and turned around and walked out. My money will never go to a business like that.
