Was told i neeed a new power steering pump, took over week get appt scheduled., when I did get appt. I showed up on time. Older man (Kenny/repair guy) looked at me as if I was crazy.. I said who I was and that he set the appt. At the time/day. Mind you this is my only source of transportation. He said well he didn t remember making that appt with me and he was busy all day! Had some truck he was starring at,while looking at some book. (As if he didn t know what to do). I said well I wil leave my car here.( Just got this car not even 30days) Auto Finders,which came with THEIR warranty. Was given no info/warranty package just charged on bill when car was financed.. which one of the stipulations is with their warranty is you ONLY can use Repair shops through Auto Finders(only have 2/3) all in Durham area. Which I live 45min/1hr from. Anyways took my car here ShopHad it from 8:30a-3:00p or so. I did take videos:pics of car/under hood/leaks all over driveway. A mix of oil and power steering fluid.power steering fluid was black. I had catch Uber from this shop and back to pick it up!!! Get there he has my car parked ready to go he said. I get home, had one of my honest,very good,reasonable prices too.. I looked under hood the fluid seemed still same dirty black fluid. Which why I took it so my mechanic could look. No leaks at this time.. just the same power steering fluid (not drained) was red flag ! My mechanic confirmed as well. Anyway I gave old Kenny benefit of doubt and drove not call back to ask him about it. Well 2/3 weeks later.. leaking again I was so pissed!! I did contact Auto Finders. Have to call them if the car has any issues?????I have no info/number/ nothing of who/what this warranty covers/name/number nothing only They know(mom/pop) auto place. Anyway son there said ohh maybe it s leaking from tubbing/hoses??? Take it back to Porterfields and let him know..so he can fix it/see what else may be going on?? Ummm Got bad vibes,energy from this repair guy. Uneasy feeling. This warrenty is BS!! This old Rundown 1man overwhelmed ,tooo old now mechanic needs to retire!!!he is rude I got feeling he did not want colored women/men ppl./new ppl At his shop. Only want deal with his locals(same costumers).. feeling he gave me and how I was spoke too!! So my mechanic only works on Hondas.. (mine was totaled) reason I have a Toyota now. I have to find a new honest,Humble,knowledgeable,Friendly,prices fair and a 1 man show. Organized,Clean place,organized.. he only works on Hondas:Acuras though!! Bummer!! I call Porterfields to let him know about my findings. He started being rude,denial(OF COURSE),then he didn t know me/car he worked on. As if I d not been there! This man did NOT put a new power steering pump or fluid chsneged.. he put STOP leak Held my car ALL day too make it seem as if he was sooo busy, (on my appt date he set) never gave me paperwork he said he had to send all that to AutoFinders so they can contact warrenty co???! If there is even a warranty co at all the owner has added (without my permission) onto my bill(car financing) a 2007 Toyota Corolla!! Payments waaaay high!! (In house) (BHPH) I call Auto Finders to ask what Name,number,and details of this $1,450 warranty. (They never gave me info. at all on??!! #sketchy well I get run around!! Go figure!! Son says he needs ask mother and call me back!! I have been bamboozled! Scammed!! Porterfield will not work on this vehicle again at all!! Who knows what he may do or NOT do! No second chances with me when it comes to any Risky,Shady,Rude,Crooked companies/ppl.. Period!! Now I have to pay out pocket to have guess what?!!! Power steering pump!! Smh KARMA will come!! Ppl of color,young,unaware.. steer clear of this place!! Take pics under hood/parts/fluids etc before you go in for any repairs anywhere,I suggest..then after repairs done/oil change anything!! Take pics before leaving!! And have a second opinion as well. From a TRUSTED mechanic. Don t expect the mechanic who doing risky business to admit he s done/not done something to your vehicle!!

Porterfield's has been in the automotive business for at least 40 plus years. Kenny is one of the hardest working man I've known. Porterfield's is the go-to for car repair. Located right down from Bojangles or behind Popeyes. Tell em Chad sent you and get 20% off. Two hour labor minimum labor rate.

This is where I get my state inspections. I just drop in, get out in under 20 min. Bring a previous year's registration card so he can register your inspection properly. Highly recommend this location!Update 2023: This spot is still great. I come by every year!

Kenny Porterfields shop is one of the last remaining gems in Durham... Was referred by Quality auto body and paint on main St in Durham. Now I've been a loyal customer and every one of my family members also bring their cars to Kenny's place .. if it's not something Kenny can do then I go to Sam at quality auto, if there's is something Sam can't do then I go to Kenny's.. between these 2 hidden gems all my car, truck needs are met .. I love this place!! Thanks Kenny for all you do for all of us!!!

Kenny has been taking care of our Ford e250 work van for a couple of months now. Phenomenal job, fair prices, he doesn't drag out the work, and he answers the phone unlike some establishments. I feel at home when I step into his business, which means everything to me. I'd give him 6 stars if I could.

Good for minor stuff, but don t recommend for major repairs. I took him a Honda Civic that overheated. Ended up being a head gasket, but he wasn t able to correctly perform the non-invasive pressure test that would have diagnosed it. Instead, he replaced the thermostat... drove off and it overheated... took it back... he replaced the radiator... drove off and it overheated... pulled off the head to have it sent off and tested... head was not cracked, which left the gasket as remaining culprit. As you can imagine this process of elimination was NOT cheap!

I needed my daughter s car AC recharged and I came late in the day 30 mins before closing. I meet with an older white Gentlemen he was very nice and completed the job for me. I would recommend this location.

My car is in worse condition than when I arrived, A test drive was not done car sounds like a bus and we are looked at with the dumbest look from the owner...yes owner ...will be contacting trouble shooter and BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU
