I ve known the Ellis family for years. They are fine people all of them. Blake and Hunter know their skills well and I would not hesitate to have major work done on my car at Northgate Auto. I know them to be honest and very fair in their pricing. And my dear friend and mother of Blake and Hunter, Kelly, works the front desk. She is an amazing person, bubbling with personality, and very knowledgeable of her work. It s always a pleasure to visit, whether I m a customer that day or not! Highly recommend Northgate Auto!!!

Given the circumstances I give 5 stars. Had a gas leak and left the car with them. They identified it but said that cannot take care of the issue because it requires special expertise and environmental conditions (having to do with fire hazard). Recommended another shop specialized in such issues. They did not charge anything (not even the diagnostic part). Were very polite and helpful on guiding me what to do next. Really professional!

I ve been to Northgate Auto at least three times and feel so taken care of and attended to every time I do. They communicate well and promptly, answering all questions I have as a naive car owner. I ve never felt condescended to or taken advantage of. They are accommodating if you need to stay and wait while the work gets done, very personable. Would absolutely recommend to others!

I ve had my new car for about three months and assumed I needed a new inspection since March is my renewal month. I made the appointment at Northgate. When I went to the appointment I was informed that my inspection was good until next year. There was no charge.

I had a bit of an emergency at 4:15 on Friday and Kelly and Jeff were very accommodating and got my vehicle looked at before closing at 5. Fortunately, everything checked out ok, but it gave me peace of mind knowing that my vehicle was safe to drive. THANK YOU so much for the friendly, quick service!

Top tier! After several failed attempts on fixing my car, I found Northgate Auto Service. The customer service was exceptional and they were able to find the root cause of my problem! They saved me from having to buy another car! Thank you all again!!!

visiting northgate auto service was a great experience. I got there at 8:00am and was out of there by 9:20am the service was great and fast. Geoff Brooks was very kind and honest and fair with the service prices. I will differently be returning to Northgate auto services for all of my repairs.

Very pleased with this place, friendly, helpful and honest. Had a window that got stuck they could have charged for unneeded parts but were honest and able to repair with just the labor. Excellent experience

I experienced a situation where there was a strange noise from the inside of my car upon turning on air conditioning. I made a call to Northgate Auto Service and was given an 8 am appointment for a couple days later as they explained the were pretty booked on the day I called. Upon arriving at this business, I was greeted cordially by a gentleman and I explained as best I could what going on with my vehicle. My vehicle was driven in and in ten minutes the issue was found by mechanic and explained to me. A part had to be ordered and my car was repaired and I was on my way home and pleased within less than an hour and a half, as the part had to be delivered. The Northgate Neighborhood gave great comments for this business and that is the reason I contacted them and was very pleased with the service. I am pleased to recommend Northgate Auto Service. I came across Northgate Auto a few years ago when I had a completely horrendous experience with another downtown Durham garage. They fixed my Jeep quickly and made me feel confident I wasn t getting taken advantage of. My entire family has been taking our cars there ever since and could not be happier. They are trustworthy and efficient and are courteous enough to discuss every detail with you before doing any work. I won t go to any other garage in Durham.

I own a 2006 Acura RL. It had 149,000 miles on it when i bought in 2021. It now has 258,000 miles on it now. Northgate automotive has serviced my car since I have owned it everything from the battery terminals all the way to replacing the motor mount. They are very good at what they do and get things done in a timely manner. They stay pretty busy so you might have to wait a couple of days but it is well worth the wait the guys up there are phenomenal thank you Northgate automotive for everything that you have done for my car. They do not do major motor work or transmission work, but everything in between 100% greatServices: Steering & suspension replacement, Battery

The owner and his employees are kind and courteous. Excellent customer service and hard working people. They have the absolute best mechanic around Toney who has 30+ years under his belt. They do everything they can to figure out what is wrong with your vehicle. They do speedy inspections all depending on if they find something that needs to be fixed. And they definitely are not like some businesses out there that make up stuff being wrong with your car that's not just to get money out of you. They are the most honest and real people you will ever meet in the auto service industry.

Transparent, quality, honest service. I visited a mechanic not far from Northgate that changed hands from Durham Tire where I had gone for years. The new company gave me one unexpected recommended service after another, with the classic doomsday fear that my car would break if I didn't get the work done. One service in particular was quoted at what seemed like a ridiculous cost. It was a nightmare trying to figure out what was true. I discovered Northgate who took a look. They offered a quote that was half as much as quoted at the other place (and in line with KBB), and were extremely helpful, timely, and communicative along the way. They've won my business.

This is such a great shop. They are always patient and helpful. They get you in, fix the thing you were complaining about, and might point out other things that could use fixing but won't do any extra work unless you ask them. Great prices, awesome service, and you usually get some advice to keep you from having to come back any sooner than you have to.Highly recommend.

Took my 2015 Altima to get a second opinion on a brake job I had done at another shop. I called the day before and was able to set a time. They were ready and got to work right away.The mechanic took time to speak with me about what I was going on and what my options were.

Northgate Auto Service went above and beyond in helping me! I needed an oil change and vehicle inspection -- they were able to schedule a same-day appointment. From entering the facility to my exit, everyone was so nice! They were on time and took great care of my car. 10/10 recommend. I've taken all my cars to Northgate Auto for a few years now. Just got an oil change and maintenance today. They are honest and knowledgeable mechanics at reasonable prices. There are a few auto repair shops in my town, but I prefer to drive 25 minutes to Northgate Auto. I trust the Northgate Auto team. I'm grateful to them for keeping my cars in great shape, and on the road!! I would absolutely recommend them to anyone.Services: General repairs & maintenance, Auto engine diagnostic, Air conditioning

Excellent and quick service with fair pricing. Staff is always friendly and helpful when explaining things. The inside of the shop is also very clean and a pleasant place to wait if you don t have a ride.

We ve been going to Northgate Auto for many years now. They are very professional, reasonably priced and above all very HONEST. After going to my local dealership for my air conditioning not working, they told me I needed 4K worth of work on my car. I declined and took it right to Northgate Auto. Half the stuff the dealership claimed needed fixing was fine, some were much cheaper than was quoted and the one thing that needed replacing was my heating/air compressor. Northgate Auto priced it close but lower to the dealership. They will also give you the old parts when they are done if you ask. That tells you right there they are the real deal. I highly recommend Northgate Auto. They are wonderful.Services: A/C installation & repair, Air conditioning, Auto maintenance

This is by far the best mechanic I have ever been to. The whole crew is warm, kind, smart, honest, and informative.I stumbled upon them a few months ago when I needed a fix fast and just had the best experience. I had a bit of an emergency on the Friday before needing my car for a road-trip over Fourth of July weekend. My front-left tire had lost air pressure, and on a busy holiday weekend Northgate Auto Service was able to get me in, diagnose the issue and send me on my way within an hour.Throughout this time, I was continuously updated on the progress of my car and treated me with friendliness and respect.

The entire staff was very helpful and friendly. I told Mama Kelly and Blake how wonderful it smelled in the auto shop. This is the first time I have ever went into a body shop that had a wonderful aroma. Used this business during the most restrictive part of the pandemic and now (2022), and have found them to be easy to schedule, polite, friendly, efficient and good value. I first heard about Northgate Auto because I friend pulled into their shop with a flat, and told us they came out and helped change her tire for free.I've only had to use them for the yearly inspection and oil change, but I have absolutely no complaints. I make an appointment online, drop my car off the night before, and they complete the job the day of the appointment. Once they're done they send me an invoice that I can pay online, then they put my key in a lock box so I can grab it after I get off work.I'm sad that I'll be moving soon and have to find a new place to go toServices: Vehicle Inspection, Oil change
