I have been a customer for over 10 years. This past Tuesday, April 2nd, 2024, at 5:15 PM, I went to the shop for an oil change. The person in charge advised me that it would be better to schedule an appointment because it was late for that service. I agreed and scheduled an appointment for Wednesday, April 3rd, 2024, at 8 in the morning.I arrived for the appointment at 8 AM on Wednesday, only to be informed that the employee scheduled for that time was sick. Understandably, such situations can occur, and I accepted the circumstances without complaint. I inquired if I could return later that same day, Wednesday, after 5 PM, and was informed that if I arrived before 5:30 PM, I could be served.Returning that afternoon at 5:15 PM, they commenced the oil change. Forty minutes later, I was informed that the car was ready, and I paid for the service. As I exited the shop lobby to the parking lot to retrieve my car, the technician was attempting to reset the odometer to turn off the oil change light. After waiting for five minutes, during which the technician was watching a YouTube video to learn the process, I informed him that I knew how to reset it myself.Upon sitting in the driver's seat, I noticed several dashboard lights were illuminated. I returned to the shop lobby to report the issue, and the staff member who came out acknowledged the problem, instructing me to drive the car for 30 miles. If the lights persisted, I was advised to bring the car back. This experience was nothing short of what one might label as 'terrible service.'The next day, I visited another shop where they successfully reset the computer, albeit at an additional cost. Regrettably, I have decided that I will not be returning to your shop in the future."

It was about lunchtime and a screw had become stuck in the back right tire on 2017 Jeep Wrangler. The customer service agent behind the desk immediately got my jeep in to check and see if it had penetrated into the inner tube, because I was on a trip to Greensboro. I ran next-door to the YMCA for a quick workout while he addressed the issue, and fortunately it had not penetrated. He was super courteous, and I really appreciated his prompt polite service. I will certainly come back to this location for any tire needs in the future!! Thanks again, Willy K

The good: they were relatively quick, despite needing to get weird tires. The bad: I compared the price to the last time I replaced these tires and to the latest prices from competitors. It turns out I paid twice as much as I should have. I literally paid less for 4 tires at a different tire shop (exact same tires!) than Mr Tire charged me for 2.

I was out running errands in Durham and my car beeped with an urgent low oil message. I happened to be driving past Mr Tire and I noticed their garage doors up with one of the technicians in the garage. I pulled in to ask him if it would be safe for me to drive home to Chapel Hill with the low oil message. Another gentleman (maybe owner?) came out to ask what was going on. He was able to quickly get me in to add a little extra oil to my car. I was so thankful for them helping me out on such a short notice, and I think they were closing up for the day. It was almost 5 on a Friday. They went above and beyond to make me feel safe to get home. Thanks!

We needed a tire repair fast when we discovered a nail in our tire and leaking air. They were very accommodating, very friendly, and had the patch done in under an hour from when we showed up. The repair was extremely cheap as well!

Almost every part of my experience was unsatisfactory. I came in and expressed that my largest concern was cost; I didn t want expensive tires. I was then presented with (and received) what ended up being more expensive options than we re actually available (checked the website after my visit). I guess this is my fault for not doing my research ahead of time, but, if you ve expressed this concern, it seems shady to purposefully be clandestine about cheaper options. Additionally, I just bought a brand new tire after getting a flat. Thus, I asked them multiple times to place that new tire in my trunk after putting the new tires on. Not only did they not give me my tire back, they charged me for recycling it. I had to call back and re-ask them to give me my tire back, and they assured me that they would set it aside for pickup. When I arrive, I get an excuse that my tire was accidentally picked up, and there was no way to get it back. I was offered a free oil change (this location only); and they did not remove the recycling charge. So, they got a brand new $200 tire from me, for the price of a free oil change I ll never use and a recycling fee. Lastly, ever since the tire change, my tire pressure light keeps coming on. I ve driven miles at this point and have reset the tire pressure sensor multiple times. I ll now have to take the car in for service at the dealership (and spend more money) to hopefully get this fixed. This place is lazy and shady; poor service all around. First and last visit, wouldn t recommend.

Went in for an oil change. Just walked in to see if there was availability and they knocked it out quickly. Been there before always easy and to communicate issues about the car and good feedback. ProfessionalClick

Dropped my car off on my way to work. The gentleman working wasn't very welcoming or friendly. I went there to get a patch on a slow leak tire. I know other tires needed to be replaced but just needed that one for that moment. Dropped my car off and walked to my job. I was called about an hour later telling me all tires needed to be replaced for $500. I walked back and took my car to a place in Raleigh and got 4 tires for waaaaay cheaper.

They tried to scam me $900+! I dropped off my car for an emissions test. 30 minutes later the man calls me and says my car failed the emissions test because he claims I need 2 new front tires that he d replace for me for $900I was confused how I failed the emissions test due to needing tires. So I asked him and he then informs me that he never actually did the emissions test because I actually failed the safety portion because of the tires and they need to do the safety inspection before doing the emissions test. I asked him why he told me that I failed the emissions test even tho he hadnt even done the emissions test yet, and he was speechless.nonetheless I brought it to another car shop and they were able to replace my tires way cheaper and did the safety and emissions test for me

Be careful and don t take their word as final. It seems they re trying to take advantage of people who don t know much about cars. I was told I had to replace two control arms from both of my front tires to get an alignment done. I declined and took my car to triple A which told me there was nothing wrong with those parts and that they were able to perform the wheel alignment just fine.

This is one of the best service centers I have been to. Honest and quick! They inspected my used car for me and didn t even charge me money because everything looked good with the car.

Done with this location and Mr Tire franchise. I hate writing this, because front desk staff have always been good but, as the last shop left in downtown Durham, it's not worth the convenience. Over the past 5+ years of using them as needed: Didn't change oil filter during oil change, took two visits to balance tire, and today tech didn't show up for work for scheduled alignment. My cousin had a bad experience with Mr Tire in Charlotte; they screwed up a simple brake change that took him months and money to figure out. They corrected everything, but this is the basics...which is what a neighborhood shop is for.

Charged a 12.99 shop service fee for an alignment. Told it was to cover paper, plastic and covers used to keep my car clean. Your operational costs cannot be passed on like that, it is dishonest.

My experience yesterday and today at this location was unsatisfactory and I would not recommend this repair shop for any work. Unfortunately I did not read all of the recent reviews here before going to this shop. I received work that I did not request, and inadequate work on another service. When learning what work was done, I asked for the replaced parts back since those parts were relatively new and should not have needed to be replaced. First I was told the parts were all in a large bin together with other customers parts that needed to be sorted through. Next I was told that replaced parts are only returned if you ask for that in advance. Aside from that issue, all four of my tires had very low pressure when I picked the car up.

Second car I have brought here. Both times, excellent service - same day, good communications, transparent pricing. This time, steering wheel was vibrating when I hit 65 or higher, 2006 Chrysler. Suspected bearings but hoping it was just alignment. Cornell called back within an hour of dropping off the car, confirmed front bearings and suggested new front tires. With that, and alignment, my car runs like a new car. Thanks, Mr. Tire.

I broke my tire stem trying to put air in my tires. I needed a replacement tire stem. I called ahead, went to MR. tire, hopped out of my car and was greeted by a 'whattuda want?'i said, "I called about half an hour ago about my tire?"the guy grunted: "show me!"so i unscrewed the tire stem cap, and immediately this slobbering grease monkey started yelling at me: "SENSOR! SENSOR! DEALERSHIP! SENSOR! DEALERSHIP!"i said, "what? sorry i don't understand...""ITS A SENSOR!""what's a sensor? can i talk to someone else?"finally a slightly more talkative grease monkey came out of the reception area and said "Sensor in the tires' broken. we cant fix it. gotta go to dealership."which at least gave me the information i needed, despite not being in the least bit friendly, explanatory, or customer service oriented. why cant you fix it? why only the dealership? how can you tell by looking from 15 feet away?but i didn't want to be yelled at by these people anymore so I left. I hadn't stepped more than 5 feet from my car this whole time. talk about a hostile welcome. If i could give them negative stars for their absolute lack of customer service I would, and it still wouldn't be sufficient to make up for the way i was treated.

I arrived for an emergency tire repair right before the store closing and the technicians at the shop stayed late to help me. Excellent customer service and work.

After reading these reviews, I can t believe I actually purchased anything from here. I walked in today, greeted by an employee with some sort of utterance and asked what brings you in, I ask for an alignment. The employee asks me, what makes you think you need an alignment? Joking or not, it made me feel I was wasting all of my time even being there. Not to mention, I was lied to about what services came with my tire purchase, extra money gone out of my pocket thinking I was getting a benefit.Anyone that reads this: Here s your warning!Get your vehicle serviced somewhere else ..Anywhere else!

They've always had anything that I, personally, have ever needed for my work truck..! I didn't think they were the quickest at installing a battery last week, but they still got me setup & on my way!

Got my oil changed here a few months back and made an appt for inspection and was told 1.5 hours. Came back in 1.5 hrs and asked if done, given my key back with a rude no and guy just walked into the back. Was also unbelievably rude at drop off.Took car somewhere else for inspection and was done in under an hour. But was told whoever did my oil change overfilled and this could cause serious engine damage. In summary, Mr Tire could not complete the two most basic tasks correctly (oil change and inspection). Avoid this place!

Brian and the crew really saved my bacon this week. Brian is super nice. Don't expect a bunch of fluff if you call, but...do you really go to a garage for the phone fluff?

I bought my car in for them to chk my tires since one went flat and had me on the side on the road. The tires were two months old. One of the other three tires were leaking air as well and had to be patched earlier that day. After they checked them it was determined that it could not be repaired. The man at the desk was very arrogant, mean and disrespectful towards me and basically said buy a new tire or we can put the donut back on and you can leave! He didn t try to sympathize with the fact that I just bought 4 tires from them 2 months ago. At least offer me a discount on a new tire instead of trying to chastise me for not previously buying tire protection! I will never buy another tire from them. The one on Morgan Street in Durham.

I ve been coming for 7 years and always recommended to other women has an honest place. I brought my husbands car in for a nail puncture to be repaired. Morale seemed to be low that day but I understand people have rough days so I didnt think much of it. Turned out another tire had some damage and couldn t be repaired but wasn t flat. The first tire could be fixed , the other couldn t. The quoted me 1600$ dollars for 4 new tires and an alignment as my only option. Not one tire, not a pair, but all four without explanation on why a single or a pair wouldn t do. Only when I mentioned that it was too high did they offer cheaper tires. Turned out the fixable tire was already fixed which, intentional or not, wasnt mentioned to be at the time of the quote, and when I found out, I paid 20 dollars for the patch and got out of there. Didn t recognize either man, miss the old staff that always treated me really well and have replaced many single tires or pairs for me in the event of a flat in the past, and also always told me about deals and promotions on tires

Went for new tires, they snuck a $124 charge on the bill for a lifetime install package which is supposed to include lifetime tire repair. They did not ask me upfront. Run over a screw a couple months later, take it in for repair, and am told the screw is too close to the sidewall to repair and that I ll have to buy a new tire. If that s the case, then there is at most a 2.5 wide strip in the center of the tire that is repairable and the lifetime tire repair is almost worthless. This could have definitely been patched, they just won t take any responsibility. If you go here, I d suggest not signing up for any of their packages or plans. But don t worry they ll sign you up anyways without you knowing and then just weasel out of any responsibility.
