My check engine light came on when I got a message to check my oil. I had the oil changed, but the check engine light stayed on. I went to an AutoZone to get a free diagnostic and they kindly recommended this local, privately owned auto center.When I went in and explained the situation, the gentleman asked if I would wait. I only waited about 2 minutes and Lonnie, the father and owner, came out and reset the check engine light for me. He advised me on how to proceed as I was driving to Florida. I'm so grateful for the expertise and kindness of these kinds of business people. I believe you can go here with confidence.

There's a lot of chain car auto shops that give you really terrible service and try to rip you off - and then there is Lonnie's. I cannot recommend them more. Not only is their service fast and reliable, but they also charge you a honest and fair price. Do yourself a favor and check them out - you won't be disappointed.

I love the entire team at Lonnie's. They have been taking great care of my VW TDI for a few years. I wouldn't trust anyone else with the car. I'm sure they can work on anything but they are the gold standard for VW's.

I am so thankful that we were told about Lonnie's University Auto Center while visiting Auto Zone. Bryan was willing to take a look under the hood of my daughter's car even though he was covered up with work. He could tell right away what the problem was. Tolio, an awesome mechanic at the garage, grabbed everything he needed, fixed the problem, topped the car off with oil, and we were on our way. I feel very lucky to have met Bryan, Tolio, and everyone we dealt with yesterday. I was fortunate enough to find Lonnie's after moving to Durham 7 years ago. The quality of work is superb and the prices are fair. The team is easy to work with. I will always use them for all of my automobile needs. This place is a great place to go for quite literally anything car related!! They know what they're doing and are so very knowledgeable about cars. They treat you really well and are understanding. Brian knows cars and will treat you right. We've taken our Toyota and our VW and each time they get it done and get us on the road. There's a pinch of a wait depending on the service needed sometimes by which you may have to drop your vehicle off before it's serviced, but based on how we were taken care of, it is totally worth the wait. The prices are really fair and they really just treat you like family. HIGHLY UNTRUSTWORTHY!!!!Lonnie gave me an appointment 2 weeks Out!! That s how busy they are, I called and confirmed the day before and according to Lonnie auto everything was good. The day of the appointment I drop my vehicle at Lonnie at 8 am, after waiting 7 HOURS I called the Lonnie auto and they said it could take 4 more days to diagnose Wasted 2 weeks and then an entire day!!

Lonnies provides top notch service and very knowledgeable staff. They are honest and don't nickle and dime you. I recently had a bent rim and took my vehicle to get serviced and while it was there Bryan and Joey went ahead and set up my appointment to get my rim fixed. Otherwise I would have been waiting a while to get the appointment at the rim shop. If you're looking for integrity, skill, and grade A service - head over to Lonnies.

We had the best experience at Lonnie's. We were treated like royalty. We were visiting from out of town and needed emergency repairs. This is one of the best car repair/service places I have ever used in my life! People there are super helpful and friendly. They are thinking of helping customers by making repair recommendations best to the customer's need and budget - I and my brother had three old cars serviced there. With great patience, they were never tired of fixing a tricky problem of my old 1994 Honda Del Sol, when I almost decided to give up!

Lonnie s was able to change the battery in my 2015 MINI! A great MINI buddy referred them to me and instead of driving way out to the dealer in Raleigh, I took my car here! They had it done in about an hour! No problems whatsoever! What a gem! What a local Durham gem! They ve done work on countless VWs and other cars and I knew this would be easy for them.Service: Battery

Whenever our cars have decided to limp home or require an oil change, we go to Lonnie's. The people are so friendly and communicate all their repairs and labor costs effectively. I have always felt that the quoted costs have been honest. We appreciate their services and have been loyal customers since!

In the 100+ degree heat all major VW dealerships in the area turned me away for a simple A/C evacuation and refrigerant recharge. Lonnie s was kind enough to be able to fit me into their schedule and they fixed my A/C quickly and cheaper than other places in the area. It s a 45 min drive for me with traffic, but I d come back for such great service.

Highly recommend this FRIENDLY neighborhood garage. It was looking like I would be stranded, or at least limping home from a far business trip, when I was recommended to Lonnie's. The guys where able to squeeze me in with little notice and give my car a once over so I could check my options. Luckily the main issue appeared to be a bad spark plug and the team threw a old one in to get me home free of charge. Wish I had a helpful and trustworthy garage in my city to work on my car.

I never give reviews, but I had to review Lonnie's because it was just the right thing to do. I called Lonnie's and spoke to Joey he was really nice and made me feel a lot better about my situation. I brought my car in to get a diagnostic and Bryan confirmed what I learned earlier what was wrong. Bryan did the diagnostic and was very nice and honest. My car was repaired quickly and is now running perfectly. I am so happy to have found a VW mechanic that knows VW's and isn't going to rip me off. So if you need your car repaired be sure to call Lonnie's!

Took my car to Lonnie's for the first time to help diagnose a service engine light. They worked with me over a couple of visits to help determine what the issue was. They looked at my car multiple times to correctly identify the possible cause without doing unnecessary work. All the staff that I worked with were professional and helpful. The mechanic that worked on my car came out and personally talked to me about the issue and what he recommended going forward. I will definitely go back to have them work on my car in the future as I had nothing but great service!

I have been taking my cars to Lonnie for over 35 years. He has always done an excellent job and he stands by his work and his prices are always fair. He has moved to several different locations and we have always followed him. I can't think of ever using another mechanic. A nicer guy you will never meet.

Lonnie's was the third mechanic to which I'd taken my VW Golf with an intermittent steering problem. They were the first to provide a realistic diagnosis failing control module in the steering rack and they repaired it at half the price of the dealer: $2,000 instead of $4,000. To top it off, they replaced the whole rack and pinion within two days. I'd highly recommend them.Services: Steering & suspension repair, Wheel alignment

I just recently had my oil changed at Lonnies and I couldn't have asked for a better experience. Doug and Jason were so helpful and so nice. Being recently separated and of course being a woman I automatically assumed I would have been treated a little different. Not the case at all. Thank you guy's for taking care of my car and the great service you provided. If I ever need work done on my car again, I will not hesitate to take it to Lonnie's.

Very impressed with Lonnie s. I took my VW Jetta in to open the locked hood, fix headlight and pass inspection. They got it done fast and kept me updated on the status. I have been doing business with Lonnie for years. I trust him completely with any work that he does on any of my cars. He will explain any aspect of the work that will be done and will beat the dealer's cost of repair. I will continue to recommend his business to everyone.

Lonnie's was recommended to me by my BMW mechanic, who told me "Lonnie's is the place for VW's". I took my wife's car over, and Lonnie's staff diagnosed the problem, completed the repair, and had the car back to me in a day. Communication was prompt and professional, even when it turned out the one day it was going to snow was the day the car was ready. The price for my repair was very reasonable, and I felt at ease with the staff and customer service crew.A big plus for us was the ability to pick up the car after 5PM, and we had the option to go in at 7.30 am, had we needed it.I will recommend Lonnie's to anyone who needs their service, especially if you've got a VW.

A real find!I am not one to write reviews, but sometimes you have a unique experience that cries out for recognition.By way of background, you might call me an old gear head, I own six cars, including a couple of classics, and know my way around auto repair and body shops. Recently I had occasion to Drive 12 hours and 600 miles from New England to Durham to drop my daughter off at college with her, new to her, 2002 Lexus ES 300. It performed flawlessly until the following morning when it's failed to start. We identified the problem as the starter but had precious little time to fix it as I was flying out the next morning. I contemplated buying tools and doing it myself in the parking lot when someone recommended Lonnies. Initially they indicated they could not take us until the following morning but when they heard our predicament they agreed to replace the starter that afternoon. They were fast, efficient and fair in their pricing. In fact I feel guilty because it took them an additional 45 minutes to clear codes since the battery had been disconnected so long. What's most impressive is they never complained about or charged me for their extra effort and they did all this while their owner was absent recuperating from an illness. In other words, it is the culture of Lonnies to treat customers with Southern respect, perform quality work and do the job right. Now that I'm back up north it is a great comfort to know I can rely on Lonnies to care for my daughter's car when I can't be there myself. Thank you.

I have used their services for years. They know what they are doing, work at a good pace, and ask a reasonable price for their work. The perfect trifecta. I very much appreciate Doug and Lonnie. I got a car from a independent dealer in Wake Forest. The check engine light came iton not even a day after I got the car. I took the car to their mechanic 5 times and still couldn't get the check engine light off. I didn't trust any off them anymore to touch the car so began looking for someone else when my boyfriend called about Lonnie's. I spoke with Doug he was very nice on the phone asked what It was doing and said we will check it out. They called me to let me know what the problem was and what esle I needed to get the car straight. I VERY MUCH recommend them they will help you in everyway and if they can't they will refer you to someone who can. OVERAll I trust them to do All work needed for my Subaru

Very rude owner. No transparency what so ever. Can t provide a quote unless you go there. Typical way to overcharge and have no other option but to leave the car
