JR Auto Repair is an honest company that does quality work, communicates, and gets it done quickly. These traits are very hard to find these days in some of these shops. I haven't trusted a mechanic for the last 8 years with my truck as I usually do all my work myself. This weekend my fuel pump quit on me, and while I'm new to the area, I didn't have the tools to fix it myself (have to drop the 26gal fuel tank). After getting about 10 quotes from shops around the area, I decided to go with JR Auto Repair because they were able to work with me and allow me to source my own part not forcing me into some warranty or expensive part that I don't need. Within 24 hours, my new fuel pump was installed and my truck fired right up. So far, no leaks or other issues but I don't suspect that will be a problem. Thank you JR.

Way overcharged for an oil change that took another place less than 30 minutes. The 1 oil change took over 2 hours. Also found out they out the wrong filter in my car which made my next oil change more expensive. Thanks for doing a horrible job. Never would go here ever again.

Took our vehicle in for an inspection, and accidentally provided them the wrong registration card (my fault) which messed up the inspection process. Monica and the technician were incredibly patient, called the DMV to get it sorted, and handled all of the paperwork to ensure I left with the correct inspection report. I was still out in under an hour. Has to be the best customer service I have received at a mechanic.Services: Vehicle Inspection, Vehicle safety inspection

I was quoted $100 for a change of headlights on my car. The repair guy had no idea what he was doing kept asking questions about how to change the light despite us telling him the bumper needed to be removed at the time I made the appointment. They ended up charging me $200 for 2 hours of services because their team had no idea what to do and took them longer than expected. Last time I will be spending my money here. Should not be $200 for a simple headlight change. They will rip you off. If I would have known the real cost before getting the car fixed I would have went somewhere else.

Front desk very kind, but the owner never showed up to perform a service I'd had scheduled and I waited over an hour.Edit in response to the owner: my name is private, so it makes sense you did not see my appointment. Here are some details. My visit occurred 8/2/23, I made an appointment through email with Monica which was confirmed 8/1/23. The tire pressure sensors were checked. A cause for the sensor light staying on was not found. I had scheduled a state inspection too. The owner didn't show. I was there from 10-11:30. Monica said the owner, who does the exams, is usually there around 9, but couldn't tell me why they didn't show or when they would show up.Service: Tires

Don t look anywhere else!I had such a good experience today at JR Auto Repair. It was my first time getting an oil change here and thoroughly enjoyed the fast, kind, courteous service. The JR Auto Repair service didn t feel pushy; they didn t try to sell me anything other than what I wanted. This made me feel comfortable and I could tell they cared about my car. I will definitely start coming here from now on.Thank you to Monica, and all the amazing staff for a fast & professional service.

Diagnosed a knock sensor fault and took the car to JR's to replace the sensor, per my explicit request (the fault being already diagnosed). Also, requested to replace the alternator's bolt which was not fitting the right way in the notch. Over the phone, before bringing the car to them, I was quoted for $309 plus $89 (sensor part) plus an unknown pricing for the alternator bolt (pending assessment of the situation). After the car was repaired, I was asked to pay an extra $120 for "Engine light ON diagnostic" (not requested by me) and $50 for them trying to take out the bolt, which they were not able to do (an unfinished service therefore). I refused and, after one hour of discussion, they accepted my original payment ($309 + $89). DO NOT recommend their service, as they are trying to overcharge without real justification, and against their original quote.

Excellent experience with JR Auto from Monica who runs the office to the technicians working on my truck. Monica was very professional and helpful, she made me feel comfortable with the whole experience. She also was great at keeping me informed! The technicians are fantastic at what they do and were able to diagnose and address my trucks issues quickly and efficiently. They took great care of my vehicle at a very affordable price and I will absolutely be using them in the future for any vehicle needs.Services: General repairs & maintenance, Auto engine diagnostic

Jorge was very professional and straightforward from getting me a quick estimate for the repair of my car all the way to completing the repairs and keeping me updated. Monica at the front office was by far the best in addressing all my concerns and communicating both with the technicians and with me. She kept me updated throughout the whole process and made sure i was aware of exactly what was happening with my car and when i could expect it to be ready.Overall it was excellent service.

Monica the Office Admin is extremely professional and sweet. She makes sure you're comfortable during your visit. Mark, then gentleman who performed the diagnostic on my vehicle was very knowledgeable and I appreciate the way he kept me informed. I am definitely a returning customer. If you don t know exactly what s wrong with your car do not go to this place expecting a clear cut process. They did 1 good repair for me and every encounter after was horrible. I have a wheel that simply is wobbling very bad. I thought it was the control arm so I purchased one and took it to them to replace it for 250 dollars labor cost. They did it. They Test drove the car and handed it back to me but didn t tell me the problem still exist and I may need to fix a different area. They just let me drive off trying to figure it out myself. When I asked why didn t they tell me what the problem was they said because I didn t pay them to check for problems. So I then came in and paid them to check for the problem which the front desk lady told me that the price of the inspection would be taken out the total price if I got the repairs done with them but when she went to confirm it (which I don t know why she has to confirm what they already said each time that lets you know that they don t keep to policy and what they say already if she has to re check everything she tells you) but yes they said no they won t honor that if I didn t get it that exact second And pay them 3 times the cost of the part when purchasing it from them and yet and still they didn t know if that would fix the wobbly wheel at all either. So they just don t mind running you around trying to run up a bill and at the end of the day WHEN THINGS GO RIGHT IN THE DEAL THEY WANT TO CLAIM THE BEST TECHNICIANS AND TALK ABOUT HOW GREAT AND OBSERVANT THEY ARE BLAH BLAH BLAH. Came in for an oil change and some maintenance recommendations with regards to my tire-life and the wear on my break pads. They gave me clear advice saying that my treads were definitely wearing out, and asked if I wanted a quote on replacements. I didn't get a quote since I was in a rush, but the oil change was speedy and they even filled my tires since they had been low as a result of the cold a day or two prior.All in all, a quality shop, and I'll definitely get my tires from them!(They did also let me know that my break pads were about 50% worn-out)

I'm so grateful that I found this place. They are reliable, honest, transparent and cost-effective. As a woman, I appreciate them speaking to me in a respectful, straightforward way and not in a condescending tone like some other male mechanics do. That's a huge reason I keep going back. Also, they explain everything well, so you understand what they are doing and why they are doing it. I highly recommend. Plus, you will be supporting a local business in the process, which you can't go wrong with.

I cannot recommend JR highly enough. They are completely transparent with their pricing and explain what they are doing to your car and how it is connected to your final bill. My car always arrives back quickly and in great shape. There are never any surprises and I completely trust them with my car. Plus they are super friendly!

Been bringing our cars, one of which is from 1977, here for years. The best mechanics ever! Ulysees and Jorge are both amazing at what they do. Honest, professional work, super prompt, and responsive to all your questions. If you need a mechanic this is your place.

I would 100% recommend JR Auto Repair. They are professional, timely, and super cost efficient. I went in for routine maintenance and asked them to do a few different things to my car that I had read about - and they actually told me I didn't need most of them and I should just save my money! I find them to be the most trustworthy and professional (and non price-gouging) mechanics around! They always call after a diagnosis before doing any repair to make sure it's okay by you and that the price is good by you.Definitely won't go anywhere else from now on!Services: Air & cabin filter replacement, General repairs & maintenance, Engine repair, Wheel alignment, Brakes, Battery

I couldn't have had a better experience in dealing with the mechanics at this shop. After reading the reviews I decided to give them a try. They are genuine and honest men. They were straight forward and very reasonably priced. I had to have my vehicle checked out after an accident and I was expecting the worst. Instead, I got a very fair estimate and an in-depth breakdown of what was wrong, what I needed get done vs. what could possibly wait, and what my options were moving forward. I felt very good about the exchange and I definitely see myself going back for any other work I need done in the future. I would recommend them to anyone looking for great work at a great price.

I've been going to JR Auto for over two years now. Recently, I brought my car to a different local auto shop for my inspection, due to proximity to where I live, they quoted me about $1000 in work they thought my car needed. I brought it to JR Auto, and they were honest with me about what really needed to be done to my car, and on top of that-their prices were cheaper. Jorge, the owner, makes sure that you are only getting the work that needs to be done, he isn't out to make money on doing unnecessary work on your car. On top of that they are always fast, communicative, easy to work with, and do really quality work.

Super friendly staff with great service. They're also very knowledgeable and will explain the process and why they made the decisions that they did. Very reasonable prices and quick turnaround times. Definitely my go to auto repair shop!

Easily the best auto shop in the downtown Durham area.I highly recommend JR Auto Repair. I have been there half a dozen times and always received honest and high quality service. The manager and staff are very knowledgeable and always friendly. A few weeks ago, I took in my Toyota 4-Runner because the back gate window would not go down. JR Auto Repair fixed the window in a very timely manner, as I needed the truck ASAP for a vacation. They've also done great work on our Jetta, just to give you a sense of the breadth of what they work with. Great job, JR!

I got great service at JR Auto Repair. The brake lines failed on my 2000 Silverado and I had my truck towed to a different garage that gave me a giant estimate for replacement of almost my entire break system. I had my truck towed to JR's and I was very happy I did. Their price was much better than the other garage's estimate. They got the work done in a couple of days. It was really fast for such a big repair. They are my first choice garage now.Excellent work!Thanks JR!

Handled everything, on the phone, with ease. Towed my car from AAA for free and only charged me for the parts and labor. Labor was $273 which seems very expensive to me but they were cheaper than AAA who were trying to charge over $800 for the same job. Staff was very friendly, patient, and helpful; they stayed open late for me.

I had a very good experience here. They took me on short notice. They seemed very honest, helpful, and reasonably priced. They were able to solve my issues and get me back on the road in a very short amount of time. I would certainly bring my car back here the next time I have a problem.

I have been going to this place for years because it is in my neighborhood and their service is always fast and they do good work. The owner of the business really cares about his customers and I would recommend taking your car to this place. If you have an issue the owner will talk to you about it and that is something that I highly respect. This place is great. Go there.
