Respect for Mr. Chavis! He was not only knowledgeable, professional and friendly, but he's worked quickly and efficiently on my car, diagnosing and fixing the issue in no time (even after his Doctor's appointment). The prices were also very reasonable, and he kept me informed throughout the entire process. I highly recommend Mr. Chavis to anyone who is in need of car repairs!Services: General repairs & maintenance, Engine repair

Amazing work! I was concerned about a coolant leak and Mr. Chavis was very thorough in his diagnostic work. I will definitely be going here if I have any future issues.

I did some research before choosing the shop I brought my car to because I thought the head gasket went and I wanted a reputable shop to do the work. Turns out it WASNT the head gasket and Jerome at Chavis diagnosed it and let me know. A person with less morals could've and would've told me and charged me the $2000 plus for a head gasket job and only fixed the bad hose (which was considerably less expensive). But not Chavis, they did the correct work and did it quickly since I was using Uber to go to and from work (Durham to Holly springs). But anyways, I can't say enough good stuff about him. He friendly AND knows what he's doing. I found myself a "goto" mechanic because I'll be bringing my car to him for now on

The owner is a nice person. My car broken down and this repair shop is close. He responded promptly upon my request. They checked my car carefully and didn't recommend any unnecessary repairs.

If you're in a bind with your vehicle stopped dead in its tracks, Chavis is the one to call. I had taken myself and my dog to a local park to find that my car wouldn't start when we wanted to go home.Chavis picked up my vehicle, diagnosed the issue and had it ready for me to pick up in less than 24 hours. On the *weekend* no less! The folks at this auto shop know what they're doing. I'm grateful I was able to get the help I needed when I needed it. Thanks!Service: Car towing

He was kind considering Lizzie was on her last ride leg. Nothing works inside. The a/c Broke. So far so Good Deeds. Hopefully It holds up a little while longer..it's 21 yrs old. I've had her since 2003 . She's been sitting bup since 2016. Damage..shortages..$$$$$ but Today was a Good Day.

Damn near in the blink of an eye, Mr. Chavis got my car to stop running like it was going to fall apart at the slightest touch. Really appreciative that he cuts straight to the chase to tell you what the problem is instead of giving you the run around. Couldn't recommend his business enough.

I am beyond grateful for Mr. Chavis! As a female, I had experienced being screwed over in the past by mechanics which prompted me to want to learn about my car and how it works. Being relatively new to Durham, ive been going to name brand mechanic after name brand mechanic trying to get answers and get my car fixed. While their customer service was average to great, they all told me varying things that didn t always align with each other with wayyyy too pricey bills. Bills so high I almost did the work myself. As a student I just couldn t pay that. Mr. Chavis was straight up, straight forward and what he said made sense with the independent research I ve done on my own. Very reasonably priced, reasonable amount of time, and has definitely made a returning customer out of me! My car feels great again!

Mr. Chavis replaced the clutch in my car. Runs great now. When I came to get the car the price was $100 more than what I'd been told over the phone when they'd called to say the car was ready. I appreciated that Mr. Chavis refunded me the difference when I told him how disappointed I was by that experience. Would be a 5 out of 5 stars if the money part hadn't been a little stressful.

Mr. Chavis is very professional and works very quickly to complete the job. On multiple occasions, Mr. Chavis has helped me with automotive issues ranging from an oil change to having to get a transmission replaced. I had a great experience. I stripped two bolts on my exhaust manifold while changing out my catalytic converter. I tried a few different things and finally I gave up and contacted Chavis to assist. He was quick and really friendly. I would recommend him to anyone in the area.

This was the best experience I've ever had with an auto shop. My daughter's Nissan broke down while visiting Durham, and Jerome was a lifesaver. He diagnosed the issue quickly, went right out and got the part and returned the vehicle after a only a day - delivering it to where she was staying. Great guy, honest and good at what he does. Five stars+

My brakes went out on a Friday and I call Mr. Chavis and he told me that he would meet me at his shop after I got off work and drove from Raleigh to Durham. So we meet and I tell you that Mr Chavis took his time and replace my front and back rotors and brakes. He did a great job and the price was great to. I just want anyone that want a quality and professional job done to go see Mr. Chavis

This guy is awesome! My tire blew out on my Ford Taurus and was stranded at the gas station. I initially called him for a tow but he told me he did tires as well which was perfect for my situation. The price was incredible and he was so accommodating! He made the whole situation a breeze by going above and beyond to help me out. I would highly recommend for anyone who needs a tow or a tire or both!!

My Truck wasn t turning on, I thought it was an alternator problem so the Mr. Chavis brought it to his shop, with a reasonable towing fee, told me what the real issue was (not an alternator issue) and my truck turns on now and drives smoother than before. If I could give these guys 10 stars, I would. Without hesitation. My engine started running rough as I was cruising down 147 through downtown Durham. They happened to be one of the closest shops and, just by luck, were still open at 6PM on a Friday evening. Jerome did a quick triage over the phone and had me limp the car to his shop (a bit hidden, but don't let the access road deter you!) When I got there it took Jerome less than 5 minutes to diagnose the cause of all my troubles as a bad spark plug and coil which caused my #1 cylinder to miss. He sent his colleague, Mike, to take us to the nearby AutoZone to pick up the parts and run by the ATM. (Thank you for the gratis taxi service!!) Before we'd gotten back, Jerome had the old sparks out (all four were in HORRIBLE shape!) and had checked a few other things. Turns out I was low on oil too. Yeah, of course he fixed that for me too and he remembered to reset the check-engine light as well: Attention to detail! He had us out of there within 1/2 hour including the quick shopping trip and I made it home only 5 minutes late for my 7pm meeting. Outstanding, Jerome Chavis and Mike!! You're good people.

Best mechanic to have work on your car! When you arrive make sure you ask for Jerome Chavis. I have been going to this business to get my car fixed for as long as I could remember. I recommend anyone that needs their car done to go here. Your car and money with be in good hands because Mr. Chavis will make sure your car is repaired and in good working condition. I feel more comfortable with this business because it is a family business.

Jerome is the man! My alternator went out and he went above and beyond to make sure I had my car back same day. Very professional and he even dropped my car off to me when I couldn't pick it up myself. I'll be taking my car to him moving forward and if you're in the Durham area i suggest you do the same. Absolutely wonderful! I'll admit I was a bit skeptical of the location at first but he quickly towed my car, took us around to an autozone and an atm since we were in a rough spot, and then fixed my car in 2 hours outside of his prefered working time. Then on top of it, he took my car back to me where I was waiting instead of asking me to get an uber back! Wonderful service and if I have issues again in the durham area(certainly hope not) i will definitely contact him.

This is the best place I've ever taken my car. Mr. Chavis is super quick and trustworthy- he won't overcharge you or try to upsell you! Also he's really nice and responsive.

Best mechanic in durham. Reasonable rates, good quality service in a timely manner. Would recommend to anyone. They have towed two of my cars and I recently just purchased a car from the owner, they do inspections as well. If your looking for a tow, car buying, or even to fix your car this is the place to go!

These guys really helped me out. I was stuck in a parking garage in downtown Durham and I had already contacted five other towing companies, all of which said their trucks wouldn't fit in the parking garage. However, when I called here I was met with pessimism about getting the truck in the garage but they said they would try. While the towing truck didn't make it in the garage both gentlemen that showed up decided to help me push my car down 5 stories. I can't think of better service! If you need a tow or need someone to work on your ride, Chavis and Co. are your guys! Thanks again!

I and my husband took our car to this shop to get the clutch repaired.We were told to drop it outside of the gates at the shop and somebody would get it in the morning. We were also told that it was going to cost $125 which is cheap. Then we get a call back saying something else needs to be fixed in order to drive it the cost was $75 more. We said that is fine and agreed to it. We get to the shop 4 days later to pick up the car with $125 cause we made arrangements to pay the rest the next time I got paid. When we got there to pick the car up it was $155 more than the orignal cost. So we said ok that is fine but we do not have that right now. When I got paid we went to pick up my husband and my car, there was a big dent on the side with scratches on top of the dent. A banana pill in the front seat of the car and my breaks are squicking. We call the company to get our money back and told them what happen, they are refusing to pay us our money back and insisting that it is not there fault. They blamed it on the gentleman who referred us to him. I called the gentleman who referred us to them and he is blaming the mechanic. This is so unprefessional and ridiculous because I do not have a lot of money to just spend like that. I make $8 and hour at a hotel and get paid every two weeks. I want this business on the news and everywhere. I paid them to fix my car and instead they destroyed the car even more than before. Please no matter how cheap they are do not take them your car again or go through a the gentleman named sunny who owns, carolina pre owned in durham nc. He is the one who referred us to them.
