I would not go here again for any speciality work. Inspected my mustang and complained about brake rotors needing replaced when they were just fine and still had life left in them. Technicians dint understand the specific applications and use of the brakes installed on the car and dint bother asking me when I was right there the whole time. Took it a Ford dealer who knows how these Shelby rotors work and was able to clear the inspection. If you are looking for basic work on your car they might be okay but if you don't understand cars they will take you for a ride and charge you for things that you don't need

I have gone to Pep Boys every year since I bought my Jeep, for my annual inspection. Cesar and Jimmy always take the best care of their customers and explain things in detail. Highly recommend them to anyone! As a reminder it s easy to make an appointment online or by calling!!

I ve been coming to this Pep Boys for 4 years now, there s a reason for that: outstanding service. I appreciate the mechanics and service writers who go out of their way to show me what my car needs/why it needs xyz. They do an excellent job here taking care of my lil Honda. The customer service is great, they are very friendly and timely when they can be. Cars take a long time to be serviced and I never mind waiting. They don t leave me hanging and give me updates along the way. It s so appreciated. I always usually make an appointment and they never cancel on me. So thank you all for being so awesome!

I'm so glad I came by here after work! These guys were so awesome. Jon and Jimmy stayed late to get my car sorted out and get me back on the road safely. I appreciate the team at this store.

Greg took very good care of me with what needed to be done and with the cost of things. Alvin did a great job fixing the vehicle, explaining everything and taking care of me. Jimmy was very helpful in explaining what needed to be done and made me feel a lot more comfortable with the work that was recommended. Great team... really appreciate it!

I spent most of my adult life in shops as a technician, service manager, and store manager (Over 12 years). Really sketchy work.1. They put the wrong tires on the paper work which caused them to over charge me.2. The alignment they did not as very sketchy. Having done well over a thousand alignments, I know how to read the print out. It was clear that the initial reading showed that it did not actually need an alignment, so the technician bumped the tire on the alignment rack to make it appear like it did. I can tell this because the total toe did not change when the technician made the adjustments , and it was dead center to begin with, despite the steer ahead and both the left front and right front toe s showing to the left. This would have caused a pull in the car to the left. There was not any pull at all. I ve seen it all, and I have seen how sketchy technicians will try and sneak in quick labor hours.3. It took 3 trips total to get this straight and to have them refund me the money that they over charged me. I had to request them to fix all of the issues.

Most unprofessional service I have ever received. Don't bother making an appointment. They do not honor your time slot. They overbook. I had an 11am appointment, showed up 10 minutes early. I was told they where 12 minutes behind. After waiting an hour I asked where I was in line to find out that they booked two 11am appointments with mine and only 2 techs doing service. The manager tried to explain to me that it's like going to a doctors office! I had a semi heated argument with the manager and he threw my keys on the table and told me to go elsewhere. They can't honor an appointment time. I can understand being behind. I don't understand why they overbook their appointments with a limited staff. Just save yourself time and go to a more professionally staffed Pep Boy location.

I had it checked out somewhere else and they said it is due to a bad wheel Alignment and there is nothing wrong with my shocks and struts.i have a 3yr alignment package I will not be coming back

They were very nice and courteous. They really helped in getting the warranty information to the warranty company. I spoke with Jeff several times. He was very professional and kept me updated on the car. The service industry needs more people like Jeff.

Pep Boys provides the best service. They are transparent, bring you out to look at items on your vehicle if they notice issues, provide reasonable and accurate pricing, and their staff goes above and beyond to help you find alternatives if they don t have items in stock. The Clayton Team are very caring and professional. I went in to get new tires and some routine maintenance. I mistakenly ordered the incorrect size tires and Greg really went all in to see if they could find a set in the size I needed. He then discovered that the tires that were on my vehicle from a competitor, were incorrectly sized and caused them to wear unevenly. The technicians in the back had me come out and view a potential issue with my manifold and walk me through what to watch for. Cesar is always very kind and professional as well. Out of all the other shops, I ALWAYS choose PepBoys for my services because they treat everyone with respect; regardless of whether you are male or female. As someone who has been around for years, it s refreshing to feel heard and to not be ripped off by a company trying to make money and capitalizing on my ignorance of vehicles. They don t ever try to sell me things I don t actually need and are helpful in explaining in layman s terms what is needed.

Pep Boys has been our go to for car maintenance for many years. Even when they are super busy, they take the time to ensure you understand the suggested maintenance and work with you to identify the most important. Shout out to Cesar, Alvin, Jamal and Jimmy who all helped with our last maintenance on two different cars. Here s hoping you can find a few more good folks to keep up with all your business - the only downside of being good is you tend to get more work.

I am giving this establishment a 1 star because there is no option for a -10 stars rating. It is sad to see this business deteriorating as it did since the new management took over about a year ago. Under the previous management it was a wonderful local business to support and now they are simply a bunch of money-grabbers (for lack of a better term). First, their customer service is awful. I had a 9:30 a.m. appointment for a NC inspection and the car was not look at until 10 a.m. spite the fact that I got there at 9:15 a.m. AND... They told me that my car didn't pass the inspection for the condition of the tires and presented an estimated for the amount of $883.54 to change the tires before they can "pass the inspection". I knew immediately, this was a pathetic attempt to scam a customer to buy tires from them. All I have to do was take the car across the street to Just Tires where I knew that either I will get a second opinion about the tires OR the car will pass the inspection. As I suspected - the CAR PASSED the inspection. AVOID GOING TO PEP BOYS IN CLAYTON. This business nowadays CAN'T be trusted. In addition of wasting time due to their lack of customer service and scheduling you will be taking for a ride. I found their actions beyond disgusting when people need to get the inspection done and passed in order to register a vehicle and when the economy is still doing poorly and so many people simply can't afford to spent about $900 to change tires when it is not needed. For the record - my car was at the Mercedes Benz dealer just a few weeks ago for a comprehensive service and at no point I was informed about the tires having some issues SO ... I knew immediately the person/team at Pep Boys were trying to scam me into buying the set of tires. Shame on them! And... Local folks DO NOT go this place ever again!!! There are better and HONEST options just across the street behind the Wells Fargo bank.

Gave suggestions for needed work but they were not pushy. Tires were installed in a good amount of time. Cesar and his coworkers at the location on the 70 in a Clayton, NC were great!

Get here for my appointment and the tire guy is out at lunch at 3:30. Every time I come there is issues and takes forever to get car serviced and the customer service is a level negative. Came in January to get a set of tires and it took 2 hours after promised a time. Next time I ll drive to another location. When asked how long today the answer from the man was make yourself comfortable. My guys on lunch . Rude.

I was a walk in for a state inspection. The waiting room was pretty full. I thought, they are probably going to turn me away. Nope, they were helpful and able to get the inspection done. Great work and fast.

Pep Boys visit was a positive one. Greg,DeMarcus, and Alvin were great to deal with. Greg was able to get both my vehicles in with little to no problems. DeMarcus was great with his knowledge, and Alvin was a tremendous help by talking me through some of the problems my vehicles was having and how to get them fixed. These guys make you feel like part of a family and are not gonna bullcrap you into false repairs. Thank you Pep Boys! You guys did awesome

I had a window go down on my drivers side. Since I work on cars a little I figured it might be the regulator since you could still hear the motor working. So I opened up the door panel tested it and sure enough it was the regulator. For a second opinion I figured I ll drop by the pep boys up the street. Something in my mind prompte some to place a piece of tap so that if the panel was opened again I would know. Long story short, took the car to pep boys got a bill for $1200 to fix both the regulator and motor and they didn t even open the panel to check to window after charging me $180 for diagnosis. The place is full of crooks

Pepboys in Clayton, N.C. is the definition of poor service and disregard of customers time. I made an appointment for 11 am on saturday and had prepaid for 4 tires to be installed on my truck. At check in, I requested that one of my old tires be mounted to my spare rim. I was told this would not be an issue and it was documented on the service ticket before I signed it. I called at 2 pm to check the status of my vehicle and was told they were backed up and my truck would be serviced soon. At 330 pm I called again to check the status and was told it wasn't ready but was going onto the lift. At 630 pm I arrived at the store hoping to pick up my vehicle as the store closes at 7pm on Saturdays. Only to find work was just starting, my truck was on the lift with no tires. The job was not finished until after closing time. Three of my center caps were broken, I was showed one but never received any of them. There are no valve stem caps on 3 of the tires. My spare tire was not mounted and I was told at pickup that pep boys cannot mount a used tire even though I was assured at drop they would and I signed the ticket stating this would be done. Overall a terrible experience in which I know have to go out of my way to mount and pay for my spare, as well as pay out of pocket for new valve stem caps which come with new tires. I have gone to pep boys for tire installs for the last 8 years. You have lost my business entirely pep boys. I wish I could rate this zero stars. Why is there even an appointment time if my truck is going to sit in the parking lot for 8 hours?

4 hours to mount and balance 4 tires.....had an appointment made through caradvise and was told they can't always honor those appointments. Made another appointment. Waited an hour and 15 minutes after my appointment time before the vehicle was even taken back. Total time there was 4hrs. Tech brings my vehicle around and leaves it in reverse and gets out and has to jump back in to keep it from going out of control. Kept hearing the excuse of being understaffed blah blah blah.....then don't take appointments and tell people a time estimation when there is no way you will meet the deadline. Would never go back to this place.....ever

Went to have a steering diagnostic due to a small sound coming from my suspension. They gave me an estimate for over $3,000. Had my car looked at by 2 other people who verified that all but 1 of the things listed were not needed. I looked up the part numbers on the estimate and they wanted to charge me between 2-4x the cost of parts. Some of the part numbers didn't even exist! Drove away from their establishment with no questions actually answered and a new sound coming from my front end. Would not suggest going to them for reliable business.

Cesar was very considerate considering I brought a little school bus to have its headlights changed. He promptly found the items needed and pick them up and had them installed quickly. I couldn't have asked for better service.

The crew at Pep Boys are incredibly professional and honest. I had my tires replaced there and anytime I need my air pressure checked they are happy to oblige. Cesar is always particularly helpful too!

I am fairly certain that a technician ate their breakfast or lunch in my vehicle. I found a food receipt in my cupholder that was not mine and fried chicken skin in the passenger seat and floor. They also left my heat running on high which tells me someone was making themselves very comfortable in my vehicle.

I would hesitate to revisit this establishment for several reasons. Firstly, two of my wheels incurred scratches during their service, and despite clear evidence that their tire machine's head aligned with the scratches, the shop manager insisted it was impossible. Moreover, the tire pressures were inaccurately set; the recommended 34PSI all around was delivered as 30, 31, 35, and 37 PSI. In an effort to regain confidence, I personally verified the lug nuts' tightness, only to discover they were over-torqued, doubling the recommended specification. I sympathize with other customers who may not notice or lack the means to check these details. This experience underscores how swiftly establishments like this can exploit unsuspecting customers. I won't delve into the attempted upselling, as it further highlighted their lack of automotive knowledge.

Clayton pep boy ws great. I had tires put on my Lincoln a little while earlier at Garner pep boy and they were awful. Took way too long. One front tire leaked air. I made an appointment, after waiting 1hr and 20 minutes I had to leave. It still leaks and I will never go back to Garner pep boy.

Anytime our dealership tells us we need work done, we take our car to Pep Boys in Clayton. They have never lied to us (unlike the dealership) about what our Rav4 needs to be done, and their prices can't be beaten.
