Look no further, lengthy but worth the read!!! Long overdue review for the garage of your dreams. First let me apologize to the wonderful staff at Neighborhood Garage and most of all Andrew for not writing this sooner! A stand up guy running a stand up establishment. Truly the last of the great mechanics in my book. After purchasing my 1989 E350 for only $1280 to travel the US, I knew it needed some work. Upon a recommendation I went to see Andrew. Immediately was greeted with honesty and compassion, something I never expected when dealing with a mechanic. Andrew saw the dream I had envisioned of traveling the country and immediately sat out to ensure it would come true. I found him to be compassionate about his work, but also his clientele. His prices were beyond reasonable, especially considering he is in a prime city location! He has never hesitated to answer any question I have had. I have been literally on the opposite side of the country and Andrew was only a phone call away, MULTIPLE TIMES! Andrew is truly a fairy god mechanic! I hope that your business flourishes even more my friend!

Andy saved both of our vehicles. My wife's car had a major transmission issue. Instead of changing the transmission and charging us himself, Andy did the research for us and found that she qualified under a recall and gave us paperwork to take to the dealership. We took it there and got her entire transmission replaced for free.Few weeks later and my car starts making a terrible noise. He literally stuck a long screwdriver in the engine and put the other end up to his ear and told me the exact problem. I did some googling and calling and he was right. About a week later and not only did he fix the engine, but fixed an oil leak, coolant leak, dead battery, spark plugs, and about a dozen other things that were well overdue but he caught. I walked away paying a price I'm happy with and the certainty that I won't need to buy a new car anytime soon.Choose Neighborhood Garage

When Neighborhood Garage was recommended to me by two trusted friends independent of one another, I knew it was where I had to take my vehicle. It was in dire need of some serious repairs. Andrew not only took the time to help me understand and move through the various issues, but he worked with me to find a solution and path forward that made sense. He and his shop are incredibly knowledgeable, personable and reliable. They've made a customer for life (as long as they'll have me,) and I'd recommend them to anyone in Charlotte. These are honest people who truly care about their craft and their clients. I cannot recommend any other garage in Charlotte! Andy is so kind and so patient. Incredibly fair pricing and treat you like family. Not often do you find businesses like this anymore, you can put your complete trust in Neighborhood Garage to care for your car. Over the years I've brought a '66 Mustang and '07 Camry for them to work on. This is by far the best auto shop in Charlotte and I wouldn't go anywhere else!!

I have been very fortunate to learn about The Neighborhood Garage. I have been taking all my cars to this shop for 5 plus year. I can always trust the diagnostic evaluation performed and I am always given options on steps to fix the issue. The shop prices are also very competitive in todays world as well. Andrew treated me like family and my car as if it was his own. Couldn t be happier with the service I received. He worked with me to find quality solutions at a fair price. This place is wonderful! I took my car here after I was having some issues with a gas smell coming from my Honda. Andrew took the time to research to truly diagnose the problem and he continued to call me and keep me updated with the progress. Andrew was very patient answering all of my questions and helping me maneuver through the insurance claim that I was able to file because rodents got into my car and chewed my fuel line! Andrew was willing to help out by taking pictures, sending emails, and keeping any parts that would help me with my claim. His work is very reasonably priced. I highly recommend this place!

Second time I used them. First was new brakes/rotors on all four wheels. Done at reasonable price and quickly.Second time was an emissions code on 2016 honda pilot. Called me two hours after drop off, told me it needed new catalytic converter but Honda extended the warranty to 10 years/150,000 miles so I should take it to a dealership. Very good and honest service. Definitely recommend.

I'm so glad I found this place- Absolutely awesome. My story: I recently moved to Charlotte, and had no idea were to go for a major clutch repair on my car. I simply went here (YELP) to look at who had the best reviews, since I couldn't get any referrals from friends. I picked the top 3 car repair shops based on YELP and got 3 different estimates. Not only was this shop MUCH cheaper, but incredibly professional and timely. The lead mechanic (Andrew) was great. Explained all of my options, and was proactive in giving me a few daily updates when necessary. Upon pickup of my car, he even showed me my old clutch/flyweel so I could actually see what when wrong and why it went wrong. Highly recommend this place. Keep up the good work guys!!!! Will go back in a heartbeat if I need more repairs.

Andrew is the best. We found him when my mom moved here and needed a honest mechanic to work on her 10 year Hyundai. Andrew listened to her needs and did exactly what he said he would do. He is also very fair on pricing. If you looking for a great mechanics, come here.

Andrew has been taking care of our family s automobiles for over three years now! The only thing I regret is not having taken the time to write this review sooner. We constantly recommend his garage because they do such stellar work and have always charged reasonable prices. If you re interested in a honest, reliable, friendly, and capable mechanic, you will be thrilled to know Neighborhood Garage!

Andy does a fantastic job with my cars. He let's me know if he sees something coming up (needing brakes soon) anytime I bring my car in for service. I've brought my cars to him for 7 years now and won't go to anyone else.

I don t know why this company is rated so highly because they have poor customer service and don t stand my there work. I garage motor installed in October 2022 with warranty. In November the bolt n nut came out of the unit, they came to repair charged me for it It has come out 2 since then and when I called they recommended I got to Walmart to get thread that would stop it from coming loose. Why is that my responsibility when I paid the company to do a job. I want to speak to the owner!

Andrew at the Neighborhood Garage was awesome. Another auto shop diagnosed a bad starter as to why my car wasn t starting. Andrew ran a test and found the battery was putting out enough voltage to start the car. After a new (and well-priced) battery, the car started great! I wasn t even charged labor for it! Would highly recommend to anyone looking for auto service to go to the neighborhood garage!

Having had Andy fix my 3 vehicles over many years I only have GREAT things to say about his ability, integrity, and fairness. My brother, who is also a master mechanic like Andy, is the bar I judge Repair work by, and since moving here to Charlotte I feel fortunate to have found someone here, as competent and reasonable in their pricing. Andy will tell you what must be fixed now and also what will need fixing soon, and then leave it in the customers hand as to what you want done. My guess is that any negative reviews are from people who chose to wait on the repairs not needed NOW, and let them go for too long and perhaps ignored the warning signs from the car. Andy is a Great mechanic, do not hesitate to seek his assistance in repairing your vehicle!!.

My 2003 Jeep TJ needed a complete engine rebuild. I went to numerous garages trying to find someone to do the work, but the bottom line was most places seemed disinterested in doing the work when they saw it was not a run of the mill job. A friend recommended Andrew. I wish I had gone to him first. Within the first five minutes of discussing the job with him, I felt confident about him doing the work right. The price was in line and the work and attention to detail was excellent.

I genuinely cannot recommend this place enough! Andy Duggan is a great mechanic, an honest businessman, and a true find. I just took my 10-year-old car to The Neighborhood Garage for a 30K maintenance and a brake job, and the price was about half of what nearly the same services cost me last year at a different shop. While the price was great, the best part of this most recent experience with The Neighborhood Garage is that my car (which has 161K miles on it) runs like a dream -- smooth and quiet. I'd like nothing better than to be able to get another 161K miles out of it, and I intend to leave the future care and keeping of my car in Andy's capable hands. Give Andy and the Neighborhood Garage a try. You won't be disappointed.

Andrew is a magician! He gave my car some pep in its step! I went to several mechanics ahead of him and he was the only one that took the time out to really take a good look at my vehicle. I am thoroughly impressed by the customer service and skills of this repair shop. I am just a customer, but I believe that everyone should give Andrew a call. You won't be disappointed!!!

Had a great experience with the Neighborhood Garage! Took my '09 Honda Fit to get looked at due to a knocking sound I was hearing. Andrew was very friendly and was able to quickly diagnose the problem. When replacing the whole component didn't fit my budget he did research to find a work around. He was very responsive to phone calls and totally willing to work with me to get me back on the road. Definitely recommend this garage!

Great garage. Very honest, fairly priced. I moved to Charlotte in June 2015 and needed to find a mechanic. I can trust Andy to get my car fixed properly. He can email you a quote, set up a time to drop off the car, get it fixed in the proper time frame and even sit down with you and explain the situation if necessary.In my case the issue (power steering fluid leak) wasn't caused by what we thought it was. He needed to order a power steering return hose. So in the meantime he gave me some power steering fluid to use in case I ran dry and then came back 3 days or so later. He got it fixed within the hour and it ended up being cheaper than the original quote because it needed a cheaper part. Like I said, super honest. After that experience, I don't need to go to anyone else.

Andrew is top-notch. He continues to take great care of my 06 Solara. He gives suggestions and advice and doesn t try to push work that doesn t need to be done right away just to make a buck. I will continue to send new customers to him when given the opportunity.

Andy was super friendly and has top notch client service. I say client because I plan on goin back to neighborhood garage for future work on my truck. I have a hectic schedule, and Andrew worked with me on getting my truck in for it to be worked on. Honest work, very reasonable pricing. Highly recommended. Cheers!Dirk

This place and Andrew are awesome. If you are looking for great service this is the place to go. I NEVER feel like they are simply out to get my money here. They know what they are doing and actually help me make the best decision for my car. They are honest and I will not go to another mechanic in Charlotte. Keep up the good work!

The prices are definitely better than a dealership BUT I don't know if the guy working on my car was trying to cheat me out of my money or just plain incompetent. My AC wasn't working so I made an appointment to get freon put in my car, it didn't work and he said I needed a new compressor. He did not say I had a freon leak; this costed $85. So then I got a new compressor which was $550 and I thought it wasn't as cold as it should be for a new compressor so I went back the same day and he checked everything and said it was fine. Then a week and a half later my air is warm and not cold at all so I went back and he said I have a leak in my freon hose and he knows this because when he put the freon in he put a dye in with it and he said this would cost $200. I find it very incompetent that after all the times I've been there in the past 2 weeks that he couldn't find out if my freon was leaking or not. I'm not made out of money and I've already invested $635 into fixing my AC and it's still not fixed. I will not be returning here for any future work on my car. I posted this review yesterday and I guess it got deleted along with another 1 star review and some 4 star reviews because they're Not there anymore. This is a valid review from MY experience. Maybe some people had a good experience at this shop but I didn't. The fact that The Neighborhood Garage is deleting reviews to make themselves seem better than they actually are is another reason not to trust them and I will keep posting this review until it does stay up here, nice try.

I was lucky enough to have found The Neighborhood Garage. Besides their already outstanding track record as a business I worked with them on repairing my Father's vehicle. I'm not in state but Ryan was more than accommodating to work with me on getting my vehicle repaired and my Father taken care of. Not only was the turn around fast but I was called daily with updates and as a customer that in itself is hard to find with companies. Andy and Ryan are great. My son's car was "broken down" at UNCC and they were referred to us by another student. They could have told me anything they wanted with me living out of the area, but instead fixed the problem in an hour for $125. Honest, easy to talk to and knowledgeable. Thanks guys.

This is a hidden gem.. Andrew is a master mechanic who is so ethical he makes all other auto repair shops look bad.Today he fixed an older pick up truck for me that has electrical and lighting problems and he charged me $83. Who charges for 0.7 Hrs of labor? Thats crazy honest.Yesterday he fixed a 2007 Subaru that I the dealer wanted $1250 to repair the air-conditioning and he charged $83 for a freon recharge plus an O ring seal.He takes pride in troubleshooting tough problems like an absolute detective.I have 5 used cars and bring him all of my work due to his honestly.Simple integrity.Don't be put off by the dirt - Its a garage The neighborhood is "in transition" but he pulls all the cars around to a locked yard at night.Two block walk to the New Bern light rail stop for dropping a car.Plus he always under-promises and over-delivers so take his time estimates with a grain of salt.
