Under new management and he is AMAZING!! Darnell is not only running the shop, he s training and supervising the guys who are a little on the green side of things.I came in without an appointment on a busy Sunday when another shop turned me away. He asked me if I could wait, but would get me in. Well worth the wait! They took care of me and made sure my tire pressure was adjusted, as they were overinflated, after finding the nail and getting the tire patched. Thanks again for your great work!

Every staff member was so helpful and understanding. They saved me over a thousand dollars because Pep Boys told me to do services that were absolutely not needed on my car. Friendly, honest, and kind. Will definitely come back and would recommend to my friends!

One of the only auto repair shops that I have ever trusted. Darnell is an amazing rep at that store. His attention to detail and low pressure sales was refreshing. I got a list of everything wrong with my care and suggestions on what to fix first due to safety. Amazing service.

We've been loyal customers at Mr. Tire Chapel Hill for the past 7 years. Over this time, we entrusted them with all our car inspections, engine oil changes, and repairs. While initially satisfied with their service, we've encountered instances where minor issues escalated into larger problems, resulting in unexpected expenses. Despite our trust in their expertise, recent experiences have left us questioning their reliability and integrity, leading us to the decision that we won't be returning.A notable incident occurred late last year when my wife's car unexpectedly shut down at a traffic light. Having had an inspection just six months ago, she was puzzled by the sudden malfunction. After the police assisted in restarting the engine, she drove directly to this store, which was nearby 'fortunely', for diagnosis. The subsequent bill amounted to over $500, including replacement of spark plugs and an engine oil change. Initially, we believed the issue was resolved. However, within days, the same problem recurred, prompting us to suspect that the initial repairs were insufficient.Upon my own inspection, I discovered a shocking revelation: the engine oil level was virtually nonexistent, despite the recent oil change charged by the shop. With our annual mileage well below average and a recent inspection confirming proper levels, it became evident that the shop had neglected a fundamental aspect of their service. Despite billing us for an oil change on the day of the engine shutdown, they had failed to refill the oil adequately, if at all. This experience has shattered our trust in their competence and honesty. While they may have replaced the spark plugs as claimed, their negligence regarding the engine oil has left us deeply disappointed. As a result, we can no longer rely on their services or recommendations moving forward.

Extremely surprised and disappointed by my (almost) visit. My husband had sung high praises of Mr.Tire (specifically this location) after going there twice for work truck related fixes. Said the folks were warm and welcoming, service was fast, and the work was quality. Sounds like a dream shop, yeah? Well, it's the time of year for my inspection as well as to get some MUCH needed work on the struts and brakes of my Nissan. I called, got an IMMEDIATE price quote--the gentleman on the phone was EXTREMELY personable and told me TWICE that I could get my work done in any order I needed (for financial reasons, I am a mother with 3 little boys so sht is tight ALWAYS) and that I could even order my own parts and they would only charge for labor! Oh, I was over the moon.I started up an online cart with everything we needed done and it came out to a fraction of what I was quoted and I got the go-ahead from my husband to call, confirm the cost of labor pricing, and set a date.I called back, same kind person answered, and I mentioned I was calling back about the Nissan, and wanted to take him up on the "bring your own parts" offer, just wanting a quote for the cost of labor per hour. Suddenly, he got quiet and ask if he could transfer me. Of course, I said. Now, this other person that answered (another man) was NOT personable at all. He had none of the qualities of the previous man and certainly couldn't have been one of the people my husband had worked with when bringing in his work truck. He was very rude and told me that he had "stopped accepting out-of-shop parts." Since when? Since I called earlier? If that was a problem, he SHOULD have run that by the first man before letting him waste my time AND being rude to me about it. I never suggested bringing my own parts, I didn't even ask about it. It was offered TO ME and the second guy had the audacity to treat me like the problem. He set me up for a diagnostic appointment the next day which I was advised not to go to by my husband considering how badly they had disappointed both he and I with their poor customer service and miscommunication. I still bought the parts myself and the replacement is an easy fix.Sucks because I was going to give them my continued business. They'll do fine without my money, I'm sure, but I guess I know who not to suggest in the future. If anyone is looking for quality work without any lip, Wagner's in Hillsborough is the place to go. 2/5 stars because my husband at least had 2 decent visits. I guess the folks from that visit were off of work the day I called. Stop wasting the times of people with families. I could have been talking to other shops and getting better quotes so I could get my family car running safely for my kids.

Mr. Tire on Fordham Blvd. is superb. I recently took my old car in for an inspection. Darnell, the new Manager, and mechanics Larry and Brian were so professonal and honest, going out of their way to do a thorough job and to charge me the minmal possible. For ex., I knew that all 4 tires badly needed replacing, but they were so honest and said only 3 had to be replaced in order to pass. Some parts needed ordering, so I came back a few days later for the necessary repairs. After working on the car for awhile, the mechanic found that two areas in the rear where oil had appeared to be leaking earlier were actually OK; what they had seen turned out to water. They were so honest and said that this discovery would lower my bill by about $600! I had driven over something that put a hole in the oil tray, which the mechanic showed me. They replaced it and did not even charge for the labor. This place has a wonderful Spirit. Very highly recommended!!!!

Recently moved to Chapel Hill, NC and needed the yearly car registration inspection. Had never gone to a Mr. Tire but found one close by on Fordham Blvd and got the check-up. After leaving, I looked in the glove compartment and found some sort of weird, sticky goo. I went back (angry) to Mr. Tire thinking that the mechanic must have spilled something. The woman at the front desk, Cambron, and the mechanic, Tommy, were as kind and helpful as could be. It turned out that they had definitely not caused the problem. Apparently, weeks or months earlier a bottle of insecticide had leaked from the top part of the glove compartment, caused some sort of chemical reaction, melted through the top compartment, and ended up as a sticky goo in the bottom glove compartment, where it had already melted through the plastic cover of my car manual. Tommy used some special solvent to very carefully clean out both the top and bottom of the glove compartment as best he could. This took about 15 minutes of unpleasant work, and he was careful and meticulous. I offered to pay several times, but both Cameron and Tommy said it wasn't necessary, and that they were happy to help. This was going above and beyond, for sure, especially as I had come in angry, wrongly assuming that they were at fault. I am thrilled and grateful to have found an auto shop near me where the professionals are competent, kind, and trustworthy.

Within the last 6 months I purchased my first new vehicle. Rather than taking it back to the dealership for my first oil change, I reluctantly took it to a big name oil change shop due to time constraints on a weekend. Unfortunately, the shop failed to put the proper amount of oil back in my truck and I was asked to drive it ( low on oil with warning lights flashing) back to them 30 minutes away so they could look at it.Rather than risking driving my brand new truck low on oil back to a big name garage that clearly had no idea what they were doing I thankfully reached out to Mr Tire. I am SO thankful for the service and customer support at Mr Tire in Chapel Hill in rams plaza. They are right around the corner from my work, they worked me in same day to evaluate the issue I was concerned with, and revealed that the previous shop let me drive away over 2 quarts low on oil in a brand new truck. On top of that, the previous shop missed the pour spout and had poured oil all down the side of my motor and had it pooling in the skid plate under the motor. The employees at Mr Tire cleaned everything up, topped off the oil level and had me on my way in a very efficient manner. I am so grateful for the service at Mr Tire and they have gained a life long customer.

Great staff and technicians. All work is always first quality. Stand behind their parts and work. Very accommodating to schedules and achieve delivery estimates. Good tire selection and prices with great install. Highly recommend.

I've had acceptable work by this Mr Tire location. Their fundamental problem is it just seems like a morgue. I always feel like I am "bothering" them when I walk in to discuss a tire or car service item I need. No appreciation shown for coming in, just lots of staring at the computer screen without an emotion or positive energy. The other problem is you make an appointment, tell them the tire you want, then come in 2 weeks later expecting that they ordered your tires only to have them say "we don't have any of this tire in stock in the area."This place is lackluster at best.

They got me in timely to find a long nail in my tire! Plugged it and all was good. TV in a clean waiting area also was appreciated. In a shopping center where you can wonder or get food when you are waiting.

Tire service is good but bad experience with oil change - drain plug gasket was damaged after the change and I lost a lot of oil. Lucky my engine didn t seize. They were very responsive though in fixing the problem and redoing the oil change.

We ve been to this location a few times and with 2 separate vehicles. They are very forthright and dependable. The staff are knowledgeable and friendly. The front desk employee (forgot her name!) was amazing!ETA: just saw another review say all good reviews are friend or family. I m neither. I m writing this review because they haven t pushed services on me I didn t need to get more money. They ve done my inspections and oils changes promptly, without any stress.

Had an appointment for 10 AM. Drove 30 minutes to be told nobody showed up today and they couldn t help me. I understand things like this happen, but a call canceling the appointment before I showed up would have been nice.

Please look at how bad their reviews are on Yelp before choosing this place. They must pay for their reviews here. This location is totally dishonest, incompetent, and you will have to pay to get all your work done again somewhere else.

I was told it would be an hour wait for an oil change. I had to ask for my key back after 3 hours of waiting. I understand it was a busy day and things may take longer than expected. But I was given no updates on my car or how long I would wait. Every time I asked about the timing, I was told I d be serviced in the next 10 minutes. I m very frustrated and feel as if I was lied to. I ended up not getting my oil changed and wasting my day off because no one could be upfront with me. I really didn t want to leave this kind of review but I m upset with how myself and my time was treated.

If you're looking for a place where they tell you they have a tire to fix your flat, and then three hours later (!!!) they tell you they actually "can't find the tire", all while never bothering to call and let you know of said issue, then this is the perfect place for you.Just stay away. Recent good reviews must've been written by their friends and family.

Very nice despite late hour emergency. Saved me a huge amount of stress and heartache by taking my service call. I am so glad I came and got amazingly quick service. Would highly recommend Mr. Al Watson. Warm person with genuine intentions.

I ve been going here for 10+ years because it s convenient to my home. The staff is perfectly nice and the service is fine, but they are operationally very unorganized. The whole shop is also a dump. The store and garage look like they haven t been cleaned in years - there are spider webs and dust in the waiting area, and even a TV from the 90s that doesn t work. They typically get the car work done just fine, but can be slow and don t have a good waiting room to sit in.

On the one hand, I understand the manager's frustration that he can't keep enough qualified help to keep up with customers and I appreciate him discounting my bill because of my experience, but on the other hand, I did have this experience: I made an appointment for today. Upon arriving, I was put at the end of the queue (for walk-ins) because the appointment system really doesn't manage anything - it just lets them know you're coming ahead of time. I was told the wait would be about 1 1/4 hours, so I stayed. My car was finished 3 3/4 hours later. While waiting, I used their Men's room; the toilet looked like it had not been cleaned in a week or so. They provide handy desks, so I worked at one in the waiting room on their free wifi. While working, very loud music came from the shop - I'm not sure if the screaming, angry, profane lyrics meant it was Screamo music or hard rock, but I didn't think it was professional (or courteous). I asked for that door to be closed - the manager did close it and the music was turned down. So, my in-store experience was poor, but the work on my tires appeared to be competent.

Went there to have my car inspected after being turned away by East Franklin Street Auto. Was greeted by some of the nicest people. There were no line or wait for inspection. Only complaint is the lobby could use a good cleaning. Go here for your last minute inspections!

They do not honor appointments.I made an appointment for an 11 AM tire rotation. I dropped off my car a few minutes early and they said it would be done in about 30 minutes. After an hour, I had not heard anything from them so I inquired as to the status. They said that they had not started it yet and that they would get to it when they were able to. When I asked for more details, they said they would start in another half hour or so. That would have made a 30 minute appointment into 2 hours (or more, if that half hour estimate was real). They did not offer any sort of discount for my time waiting. I took my keys and left. I will go elsewhere for a tire rotation.

Please fix the online inventory management system! We initially booked an appointment with select tires, and not only were they out of stock, they were no longer in production. We had to rebook the appointment and come back the next day.Once this was sorted, the team at the service center provided fast and friendly service. We had a tire and oil change in about an hour and there were no 'surprise' charges to the bill.

I like to post positive reviews. However, I would not recommend this location. I don't think that some of the staff have the appropriate knowledge or skills to work on cars.I've had three interactions here, and I would not trust them do a decent or even safe job on any future work.
