I brought my vehicle here to get an oil change which took an entire day for them to do. They overfilled it by a full qt so I had to bring it back to get it remedied. Fortunately it didn't cause any damage that I'm aware of. Also they must have used the wrong oil type as my engine would had a difficult time running until warmed up so I changed the oil myself and it runs perfectly fine now. Stay away from this place if you care about your vehicle.

Dropped my car off on Friday night so they could do an oil change on Saturday. Being the nice client we are thought we'd give them the entire day to do it since every other time they do it 5 mins before closing regardless of when your appt is. Well I called right before 7pm (closing) no one answered. They closed early and kept my car without ever calling me. I'll be calling them 1st thing at 9am tomorrow. I'd hope they would at least give me a free oil change out if this. Only reason we go here is because it's within walking distance to our house.

I have always received good service from Merchants Tire stores I have gone to. I will admit, this one in Cary has had some issues in the past (last year) but they are under new management and it's a different store. Just got work done there today (2/23/13) & they were most courteous, did the work quickly, very professionally with no cost surprises. Give these new guys a chance to redeem the mistakes done by others in the past.

I went to get my oil changed and also change brakes and other things. My husband called around a few places and they had the best quote. They were very willing to work out a price that would work for all of us. Freddy, the new manager, was very thorough and made sure the fix was good.

The worst experience imaginable. I waited 3 hours for new tires that I called ahead on and was scheduled for. My vehicle sat in the bay, while customer after customer came in and got serviced ahead of me. Then they only did 1/2 the alignment because they said they couldn't finish "heating up the bolts for fear they would break a tie rod". It was 8pm (closing) and there was still a technician, but someone else was the priority. I am very sorry I brought my business here, and never will again.

Took my mercedes there for an oil change and tail light error message check out, and I was completely disappointed. The oil cap was missing, so the mechanic didn't know that this model does not come with a dipstick. I was informed that they can't change the oil because they can't check the oil level before and after. Turned out that my car model does not come with a dipstick and the mechanic typically uses their own tool to check oil level. Additionally, the tail light was never checked out! This is not my first visit to this location, but it is my first very disappointed visit that made me no longer trust their level of expertise or services.

Have been a Merchant's customer for years. This location is most convenient to my house/work. When Earl was the Service Manager this location was the best in Cary & a pleasure to do business with. After my recent experience I will not be back. Worst customer service I have experienced in a long time. Kept vehicle for 8 hours, charged for unnecessary work.

I took my car to be inspected. I made an appoint for 11am. The person I talked to was the lady that did the inspections at this location. I got there 25-30min early and checked in. I waited there until about 11:45 and my car still wasn't looked at. I asked the guy how much longer and he told me that the car in front of fine will take another 20min. After I waited for another 30min my car still wasn't looked at. I went up to the counter and got my key and left. I went down the street to BJ's Auto Center for the inspection and they did it in 10mins. Over an hour and a half at this location and they didn't even do it. Let alone honor an appointment that you make with them. This place is horrible. All they gave me was a bunch of excuses. No one should ever go here. Take your car to BJ's Auto Center at Crossroads.

RUDE. BAD. WILL NEVER GET MY MONEYThese are just three things that sum up my experience with Merchant's. I made an appointment online yesterday afternoon for an oil change at 7pm. The closing time is 8pm and I thought this would be a perfect time because it would be easy enough at 7pm for the workers. I have worked in customer service my entire life so I understand that you wouldn't want something heavy duty to come in last minute. I even went in at 645 because I know how the last hour of work can be sometimes. I arrived to no greeting and stood at the front for about 5 minutes. Nobody cam to greet me so I thought ok maybe I need to pull around to the Bay. Pulled my car around then went back inside. The young woman was walking through the bay and saw me then proceeded to hide behind the door talking to co-workers. She then came through the door and said hello. I said,'I have an oil changed scheduled for 7pm" to which she replied, " Awwww Man. Are you for real? Gahhhh. OK." I was STUNNED. I couldn't believe it. She then proceeded to walk back through the bay doors and shout that they have an oil change. At that moment I canceled my appointment on the computer up front thinking to myself this establishment will NEVER get my money. How rude! If that is the level of customer service this establishment teaches and tolerates I will go to the other 5 places in the area that can meet my needs.

They did a tire rotation on my Jeep and I told him to only do it if it was needed, in which I had brand new tires. So I ended up with a flat tire the other day and went to change it myself, but their was absolutely no way of getting one of the lug nuts off. So it ended up getting stripped really badly. It was so bad that it vot bent into the stud, in which was almost impossible to get off. So I took it back to NTB.They ended up having to cut it off. Took them about 2 and a half hours to do so and ended up having to fork out over a $100 for something they did.On the other hand, the manager did take care of me by knocking off some of the labor cost in which altogether would've costed me close to $300. Thought they should've just owned up for putting so much torque on the bolt, and just took care of me, but at least i didn't have to pay the full amount i guess. The 1st time I went there on December 27th is when I had an inspection done. They told me I had a power steering pump leak, in which I've already explained that their was no leak, that i had just fixed my ps issue by replacing the high pressure hose ( so it was just new fluid running down the hose ). They told me to prove it to them, so I did. I went home, got underneath and cleaned it all out so they could see that their wasn't a leak I go back a few days later and they finally passed it. That same day I got an oil changed and I've already had to put a good 3-4 quarts of oil in it.So im not too happy with NTB, but maybe it's just the shop I went to. Hopefully they're not all like that.

Howard took the car in with an unscheduled flat repair. They determined that the tire could not be repaired and rushed an order for a new tire (mine was not a carried brand) and got the new tire done before the end of the day. They kept me informed and did everything they could to get it done that day and keep my costs reasonable

Twice I've taken my car there for a simple oil change. Both times I had to take it back because they overfilled it. The last time, the service rep explained that it was a little over the full mark "because when the engine starts up, it sucks the oil in and then it's at or lower than the full mark". I countered that the manufacturer recommends the oil level to be between the two marks on the dipstick, not at the "F" letter in "Full", which is higher than the full mark. I didn't bother to correct him to say that there is no "sucking" going on there, instead there is an oil pump that pumps the oil from the crankcase to the engine valves and cylinders. Obviously this mechanic doesn't know how the lubrication system in an automobile engine works.Anyway, he wouldn't drain the oil to the high mark as I asked him to, so I took the car home and drained 1/2 quart out. I will never go back.

Made an appointment for an oil change for 11:30 AM on Sunday 08/09/15. Brought the car by at 11:25. I was told it'll be a while, but "you should have it by 5:00, 5:30 at the latest. We close at 6:00." Showed up to pick the car up at 5:40...SIX HOURS after dropping it off. "It's not done yet - it'll be a while. We'll call you." Um...no. I could have done it myself two or three times over by now.You just lost a customer...

Left my car the first thing in the morning, at 7.30 am, after making reservation the previous day. When I went to pick it up at 5.30 pm, they told me they had never worked on it! I had seen their low rate, but decided to ignor it. It cost me valuable time and frustration. I had never in my life left a negative feedbak. I guess there is always a first. I am sorry I can not rank them a 0 star. At the time of my post, their average score is 1.8. Absolutely deserved!!!

Always greets you with a smile. This is the only place where when I have given the car for oil change, they will only do the oil change and not come up with bizarre problems in the car to add to your cheque. Moreover, when they fix any real problem it's 5 times less than other car service places. And a job well done.

well I have scheduled an appointment again and will update after this experience, the first time was great however the tire is leaking still. On the return trip I was turned away because they were to busy and sent to Asheville Ave where when I arrived they could not help me. I am going back this afternoon hoping for a better experience.

We have ALWAYS had outstanding service and products from Merchant's Tire on Kildaire Farm Road. We have been dealing with them for about 30 years and have never had any problems. We always get our tires from Merchant's and I would recommend these folks to anyone for quality products and outstanding service.

This place is ridiculously over priced and service is pathetic to say the least. I changed my battery here and they first ordered wrong battery size. I had to wait for 1 day for them to get correct one and parked my car at their place. They replaced battery but overcharged me on battery price. The customer service guy was newbie and had no idea what he was doing. Please save some time and money by not going to this place. Its a rip off.

The service attendant that did the oil change on my car left the airbox opened leaving me with a scary sounding ride home. I didn't know what it was so I took it back a day or so later and the person that helped me was visibly annoyed this had happened to me and did what he could to make it right.

First = this is NTB not Merchant"s. Suggest you take the time to change the brand name so people know who they are reviewing.Second = the entire crew at this NTB site is great and very responsive.

They are great. I just wish they used a paper in the driver seat when driving my car, they left it dirty (not first time).

Have used this place before for many years. Overall happy with the service. When it comes to auto repair you always need to shop around for price.

Did and excellent job in a fast and timely manner. Did not recommend any extra repairs that weren't needed! Will go back!

Unpleasant experience as a first time customer! I was overcharged by the dishonest people at Merchant's. I should have checked the reviews before going there.
