I came to this car repair shop during a trip to Blowing Rock today having an issue with a mid guard dragging below my car. I was taken care of right away, my car was put on the lift and the repair was made. It was a minor repair and I was on and out in 10 minutes. The best news - no charge! I definitely recommend this repair shop in Boone! I m

AJ, Brian, Terry and the other mechanics are top notch mechanics and good guys. We have been going here for decades, and they have done us good all these years.We recently had our car blow head gaskets. Knowing it was our only vehicle, AJ drove to Belmont for parts to get our car back to us quicker.

2016 Jeep Renegade 41,000. Check Engine light. Stopped at Advance Auto for diagnostic, P0481 problem with cooling system. Son-in-law recommended shop he uses. Very fast repair involving replacing fan assembly. Jeep was ready in one day and operates great. Highly recommended.

My college student uses AJ's for car service. We trust that garage. Our experience is they are fair, honest , timely, responsive, knowledgeable, and provide outstanding service!! Everyone who works there is super nice. Didn't even charge me for replacing headlights and refilling washer fluid. They're great!

An excellent shop. Had a misdiagnosed issue from a mechanic out of state, brought it to AJ's and they diagnosed my car right in front of me in just a couple minutes, even showing and explaining the issue to me. Nice employees who are there to help. I would highly recommend if you're in Boone to take your car to AJ's. They will treat you right and are skilled at what they do!

I trust no one else in Boone more to take good care of my car needs. Their staff is always so friendly and helpful. If you're stressing over an issue with your car, they are patient and help you calm down because they know what they are doing and how to make things work out for you. You do need to call in an appointment as they tend to get booked up pretty quickly, but they are honest and never try to make you get work your car doesn't need. Their prices are pretty reasonable too and you can expect them to get things done quickly.

AJ s will always take care of you. They re not like your dealership or corporate body shop. They won t try to sell you on things you don t need and they always go above and beyond while taking care of your vehicle. Been here multiple times and never had a bad experience. This is the only place to go in Boone.

On the last day before my son's registration expired AJ kindly fit him in his incredibly busy schedule and got the inspection done in record time plus replaced the 4 tires as needed to pass inspection - all in record time - and less than it would have cost at any other dealer! Everyone there is very friendly and trustworthy. I wouldn't go anywhere else!

Awesome people and great service, and no sketchy business! I have been using their garage for two years now, and they are always upfront and helpful. They answer all of my questions and explain the work done to my vehicle every time. Even when I have taken my vehicle in just to have something looked at, they were prompt and didn't charge me. That is the way a good business is run. Thanks, guys!

My daughter goes to school in Boone and she has taken her car there twice and both times these guys have diagnosed the car correctly, quickly and at most reasonable rates. I am so happy to know that there is a reliable mechanic near my child who won't try to overcharge me. Thank you

We had our alternator go out while in Boone for a wedding and AJs helped us out, got us in right away and replaced it that same day! Super helpful and friendly.Trying to find a good car shop while in a town you are unfamiliar with is stressful, but AJs was great!

First off I would like to say that the staff and service center is beyond amazing. Don't bother getting a quote from anyone else... They have the best prices and they want return customers. That is what they have with me. After quoting 31 places on tires... they beat everyone out. I had to have over $1000 worth of work done on my car. They not only did it in a timely fashion, but they did a great job as well. I would recommend this shop to anyone and everyone!!! They truly do the best job for the best price. If you are a girl, most shops try and get some over on you... not Aj's. Thank you so much for everything! I will be back don't you worry :)

I use AJ's Tire and Auto frequently for oil changes, service, and repairs. They have delivered consistently good service, and have recommended against repairs that were unnecessary. They will not try to upsell you to repairs/service that aren't needed and are always honest and helpful.

I had a daughter at App State with a fuel pump issue. Travis and his staff were easy to work with, affordable and allowed me to purchase my own fuel pump to save on parts. They didn't try to up sell me on anything. An overall good experience considering the circumstances. I would highly recommend them.

Very disappointed! I trusted AJs to check out an oil leak, and left my car there for a few days while I was out of town. I called AJs myself the day I was planning on returning to pay and have them leave my keys locked up in my car. When I returned that night, my car was not in the parking lot for AJs. After calling the non emergency police line, we found my car in a nearby parking lot because an employee forgot to move my car back. Not only did said employee not leave my car in the right place causing panic that my car had been stolen, he left my car unlocked with the keys in it and a window rolled down!!!!!!!! There are now ants in my car from the tree it was parked under!!! I am honestly surprised my car wasn t stolen considering how easy it would have been to steal it. I feel like as mechanics they are honest people, but apparently have no respect for how they treat your property.

For its annual inspection required by the state, my 2008 RAV4 always goes to AJ's. They're the only place in town that performs the emissions test for older cars, but they're friendly, it's easy to get an appointment, and the cost is reasonable. My car and I always leave smiling!

These guys are amazing. My family and I are on vacation ( three dogs, 4 kids and two adults) setting out to explore an overlook at the Blue Ridge Parkway. We didn t get very far before the alternator and battery shot out. We made it to the Walmart parking lot before the car died completely. I called AJ s tire and auto. They were busy, I can understand now why. AJ said that he had a 1:30 spot open and could take a look at the issue. AJ looked at it and confirmed it was the alternator. He didn t have an opening to fix it until Monday, this was Saturday. It had to be fixed but that meant our vacation was going to be confined to the Hotel . AJ called later that afternoon and said there was a cancellation and he had time to fix the car. Which he did. Then he came to the hotel to give us a ride back to the shop to get the car. AJ and the teams customer service was beyond considerate. They saved our vacation

I'd give them 10 stars if I could. My son's car "died", so I had it towed to A J's. (He's an App student, and fortunately a friend who lives in Boone referred us to them) It would have been extremely easy for them to make up a story about what was wrong and charge us accordingly. Instead, they quickly found the problem, which turned out to be insignificant. They only charged an hour labor, and the car run's great. I hope the car has no further issues while my son is in school, but if it does, I won't hesitate to have him take it to A J's.

This place is awesome! The lady at the front desk helped me right away! I'm from Charlotte and go to school at ASU and having car issues hours away from home can be scary! So I'm glade I had her to help me and calm my nerves lol little do she know! I will return definitely if I have any more car issues while at school!

My girlfriend went here to get her tires looked at and to try and figure out the source of a mysterious smell. AJ's told her she had a head gasket leak and ball joint issue, and it would be $2400 to fix. She went to get a second and third opinion, and found that she had neither a head gasket leak or ball joint issue. She was able to get a minor oil leak fixed for $15. If you are a young women or anyone who isn't car savvy, expect AJ's to try and take advantage of you.

Took my car in before moving to a new state to make sure it would be in great condition over the long drive. They recommended changing my brake pads and then also called again about my calipers. Well, now I m in Colorado and the brake pads used are so cheap that they caused a huge build up of brake dust and are wearing out insanely fast to the point I have to get them replaced again. Also tell me how I spent $1,200 on this fix in Boone and now it s only $250 at my dealership for new pads... just super sketchy. Not to mention I heard squeaking in my brakes and took my car back in before I left boone and they told me nothing was wrong when OBVIOUSLY there was something majorly wrong. I always feel like I get irrationally persuaded at chain companies like Mr. Tire but honestly wish I had just gone there anyways or took the drive home to Raleigh for my dealership.

Quick, affordable and friendly service. I got a flat tire over the weekend so this morning I called Bill's to see how much it would be to fix it and they told me $45...I thought that was expensive but maybe that was the going rate to get a flat fixed in Boone. I called AJ's to see if the cost compared and it was no competition. AJ's said they would come out to my car, put some air in the tire, then let me follow them back to the shop to plug it..all for $10. When they were finished fixing it, they told me it would just be 5 bucks. These people are great and I won't go anywhere else in the future!

AJ and his staff have always treated me and my husband like family. They have worked with us and saved us lots of money and troubles with our vehicles. I have had nothing but good experiences with AJ's.I came to Boone on a two year teaching appointment and drove across the country with a 20 year old Subaru wagon that I needed to either keep running, or else get an honest answer about whether it was time to get rid of it. AJ's kept it in good running order the whole time.In fact the only time I had some "problems" with AJ's is when I had a fuel feed problem, the car kept dying at unpredictable times. AJ's didn't want to start to replace parts until they could replicate the problem at the shop, but much as they tried, they could not. I finally had to convince them to start with the fuel pump (fixed it part way) then mass air filter (running like a champ).What kind of shop is actually reluctant to start to perform repairs until they are sure they know the problem? An honest and fair one, in my book.I'd recommend them to anyone. Great shop, great service, friendly people.
