I was recommended this place by some of my friends living in Asheville. I am from out of town and was very stressed about some sounds my car was making. Even though they were busy, they checked it real quick, filled some power steering fluid and sent me on my way. Being away from home and having car trouble is very stressful and I couldn t have been sent to a better auto shop. Thank you so much for taking care of this out of towner.

I've been going to Monteath's for years. Bob has always taken good care of me. He is honest, down to earth, and dependable. He's exactly what you want in a mechanic. Great guy, great service. Take note, this shop is old school with very little space to wait on your car, so plan ahead, especially in bad weather.

I can't recommend this shop enough - affordable, knowledgeable, communicative, efficient and kind!Their expertise paired with personal care for their customers is unlike anything I've experienced in a long while. Not only did they fix my jeep, they explained the process to me in a way that was easy for me to understand and gave me confidence I was good hands. My wife's mini cooper died. The diagnosed the problem immediately. The computer had processed ifs ladt. After obtaining a new computer the replaced it. During this process the also found we had a coolant leak. Got that fixed also. Bob Buchanan is great! I would recommend them highly

Great mom & pop mechanic shop! They were recommended to me by a friend. Very nice (shout out to Bob), honest, affordable shop - not a rip off shop to add 12 more things on that you don't need. We are going to take all our cars here (plus for us it's super duper close). If you need to drop off & walk to eat/shop there's a Cheddar's, Aldi, & Walmart near-ish to occupy your time. Highly Recommend this shop! (They also do state inspections! $30)

These people are the real deal! Very honest and fair prices, no trying g to upsell you and very knowledgeable. If they can't fix it, they'll tell you and recommend someone else who is also reliable and good. No boutique type mechanic. I'm so happy and relieved I found Bob and crew in Asheville. 1000% recommended

Buncombe county is one of the few counties in NC that still does emissions inspections. This place is slammed busy all the time but I was able to make an appointment for inspection only two days out from my call. I'd been once before for the same service and both times I was in and out in about 15 minutes. Bob is a great guy and has reliable staff. They're kind of a no-nonsense place, but they treat everyone with respect and courtesy. I wish I could say that about more auto service businesses.Thanks again!!

I love these guys. Bobby the owner actually answers the phone and will talk to you about your car. Last place I went to I never got to talk to the actual mechanic and the desk staff was super surly. Bobby is awesome. Competant and reasonable. They have my business for life

Took my car to Monteaths and Bob and his excellent staff were very knowledgeable and fixed my car for the best price around, I am going to be taking my car here from now on as long as I have the car. Every Step of the way I was informed on Prices and Recommendations that I should do with the car. The Car Was a 01 Lexus ES 300, They Did my Timing Belt, Valve Cover Gasket Seals, And Struts the Car runs like a Brand New one THANK YOU Monteaths.

Good service. I have been taking my Hummer there for a few years now. Bob has never charged me for diagnostic service. He checks out the car and tells you straight up what the problem is. His charges are reasonable. I have had work done on my Hummer by others only to have to bring it to Bob to correct what was done and when work is completed the charges are way less than what I was charged by the other repair shop. So Bob I commend you...keep up the good work

I've been a customer of Monteath's Service Center for at least 25 years. I always know they'll give me a fair price and won't rip me off with unneeded repairs. When Bob Sr was there I felt that he always did his best to be sure I had a safe car to drive, even when I didn't have the money for the necessary repairs. Now that Bob Jr is running the place, I feel that he gives the same great service - they treat me like they would their best friend or a family member. I would recommend them to anyone!

The axle was about to break totally in 1/2 on my car while I was on vacation in the mountains close to here. ALL the mechanics were VERY friendly, had my car fixed in 1/2 a day and they even drove me to my motel and picked me up! They were MORE than fair and didn't overcharge AT ALL. I wish all mechanics were so good and so honest!!! Thanks to great people like this, they make the world a better place!!!

When a big symptom turned out to be a little problem that I could handle on my own, Bob gave me advice on how to fix it and didn't charge for the diagnostic. So many other mechanics would have made up a reason to charge hundreds.So when my in-laws were visiting from out of state and their fuel pump conked out... I sent them to Monteath's. My father-in-law was a mechanic for years and he was impressed with their prices and service.When you need a mechanic it's always a stressful occasion, but with these guys you know you aren't paying for 'unicorn removal'.Honest. Solid work. Fair prices. They've earned a loyal customer!

Bob Buchanan is one of those rare gems in the world of auto mechanics. He is knowledgeable, skilled, and ethical, which to me constitute a holy trinity of positive attributes. I trust him with all aspects of my car, and I am grateful for his advice and guidance about a topic I know next to nothing about.

This is great garage... Nice, thorough and honest. Bob always explains what the problem is and what they're doing so you're not in the dark. I take my car there whenever I can and whenever they can fit me in. I trust this is why they're so busy. I'd suggest anyone take their car there.

Came in for an inspection, gave me a time, and did it in 30 min. Was very fast and there were a few employees working and MANY cars in line for service. Very glad he got it completed so quickly, I have sometimes been quoted an hour to do an inspection in the past (and sometimes it would take even longer!), but Bob was on point, honest guy, didn't feel like I was being ripped off. Will be going back.

I've taken every single vehicle I've owned to Monteath and had minor and major work done ! They are trustworthy , kind , very reasonable . I honestly am so grateful and appreciative of the work and commitment there !!!! Thank you so much Monteath for always just being real !!!! It's hard to find honest people to touch your vehicle these days !

These guys are completely amazing. Bobby and Danny are the best! They're highly knowledgeable and have very fair prices. I'd recommend Monteath's to anyone who asks for a mechanic - and I do!
