Recently stayed here with another couple for a quick weekend getaway to visit the NC zoo (15 minutes) and have a relaxing Father's day weekend. Relaxing it was. Beautiful established campground with a lake and a river. Our host Scott was Awesome in so many ways. He was very accomodating and always attentive if we needed him in anyway but not intrusive at all. The campground was very quiet with lots of wildlife including deer (and 2 fawns) Geese and ducks. We had 2 travel trailers and loved our site, but, if i was a tent camper there are several Great sites along the lake or the river with full seclusion or right along with other tent campers. Highly recommend this campground.

Quiet, beautiful with great people. The guy John that maintains the grounds is outstanding, if you have any trouble he goes way above and beyond to help you fix it; even if it has nothing to do with the actual camp ground. This is a great park for dog owners w/the river nearby and pond for fishing and doing outdoor stuff.

Traveling medical professionals STAY AWAY!! I thought I was going to stay in one of the cabins for 13 weeks while I was here working, but I could barely stay two weeks. There is mold all over the ceiling from moisture coming from the shower, and it started making me feel sick. I got a gym membership just so I wouldn t have to shower there. The blinds are broken on the front door, so I didn t feel safe or like I had any privacy. One night around 8:30 I heard somebody knocking on my door. I was terrified and hid in the bathroom until I thought they d be gone. I emailed the manager Wendy to ask if she had knocked since she was the only person I talked to at the campground. She was really hostile and completely rude to me. That was when I decided to find somewhere else to stay for the duration of my contract. I m paying more than double what I was paying at that trailer park, and it s worth EVERY cent! I m more comfortable and I feel safe. I didn t even mention all of the bugs and lizards that were a constant in the cabin. Spend your money elsewhere. This place is a complete dump!

Deep River Campground was an amazing place to stay. We needed a place for a few nights and called the day we were stopping. They were extremely accommodating in assisting us not only book one site but two. From the minute we called until we left, they made us feel like they wanted us there, not that we were just another camper.Their grounds are amazing and well taken care of. They have a lake and a river on site. They also have ducks and the owners even left us food so we could feed them. :) We would definitely come back and would recommend anyone to stay here.

I have been visiting this campground for over 10 years. We still love it. It recently switched hands this past summer. I am very impressed with the changes. The new owners are wonderful! They clearly know tourism and hospitality, they go above and beyond and are most helpful. They are courteous, friendly and made us and our 8 children feel at home. We are planning our next trip really soon, this one just was not long enough. Prices are still reasonable, bathrooms were newly painted, clean and fresh. Laundry facilities allowed us to pack less and wash and dry while we were there. Owners re-stocked the lake and invited the children to see the fish and experience the release. The kids got to play some arcade games while hubby and I enjoyed a nice game of pool. We are still unpacking from our return home last night and the kids are wondering when we will return.

This campground is right outside the city of Asheboro NC. It is situated beside a portion of Deep River and is very quiet. There are two pools (one open and very clean), a pond for fishing and some short trails to explore. There are a lot of ducks on the grounds. They did not bother you but there was a bit of excrement around so watch your step. I needed a space to get away for a few days and this was the perfect space. Campsites vary in size. Ours was a bit on the narrow side, but there was no one on the site to our passenger side, so we were okay. There is no real access to the River and you aren t able to get in. Campsite size and no River access was my reason for the loss of a star. If you go to campgrounds for planned activities and to be busy, this one is not yours. If you camp to get away and find peace, this is perfect.

We stayed there for 3 months while I was in town for a work contract. Initially staff was very friendly and welcoming. We were greeted at the front, shown to our campsite, and given a welcome bag. They were also accommodating when we had to postpone our visit due to Covid. The campground was very quiet and people generally kept to themselves. However, after staying for a while, we felt less and less comfortable and welcome. We found the showers weren t cleaned often or well lit. We had leaves blown under our camper and onto all of our stuff. One day we were welcomed to this sign in the bathroom (picture below - where are these cameras?!?). Staff seemed annoyed with us waving to them around the park. Also, there wasn t my much access to the Deep River. We attempted to explore a bit, but it was difficult to get to. There was a tiny, muddy beach with a broken set of chairs to sit on by the river. I know part of this is due to Covid, and the primitive camping sites not being used, but still disappointing. Of note, there are a lot of ducks and rabbits around. I didn t take away any stars for that, but just like to make a note of it in case you have dogs like mine that like to make snacks of the droppings.

I went to the campground by myself and I felt safe. It was peaceful and relaxing. No golf carts full of teenagers or dogs barking. Everyone seemed to be relaxing and not partying either. Met a few friendly people in passing. Went fishing-caught one! There are plenty of fish in the pond. Friendly ducks. I went after Labor Day so the pools were closed. The bathroom was clean with a good hot shower. I will be going back next year!

A great campground! The amenities were clean. Lots to do. The fishing and canoeing was nice. Very nice people. They made us feel so welcome. We came during Easter a couple of years back and it was so much fun for the kids. They had lots of crafts, activities, egg hunt, and a tractor ride.We want to visit again.

Deep river campground is run by some of the nicest people! They work very hard to make sure your stay is as comfortable as possible! It is very quiet and the sites are nice and spread out. Stayed for 2 months with my husband while on a contract job. Would definitely recommend for all size RVs and campers. I loved walking around the pond on site. Thanks Deep River staff!

The folks who run Deep River Campground were fantastic! They were very hospitable and understanding. I took my family there and ended up cutting our camping trip short due to rain. I love the pond and that we could camp right next to it. My kids loved it more when they caught a fish while breakfast was being made.Definitely somewhere we will be going back to! Highly recommended!

My wife and I stayed at Deep River for 2 months. It really is a great campground, quiet, clean and cozy. They have a laundry room, showers, camp store, pond, historic river and hiking trails. Shopping is also close as well as the zoo. Scott is very accommodating and will go out of his way to help you if need be. I would leave 10 stars if at all possible.

I have camped here many many times from when I was a child with my family, to now with my own child and husband :). I have also gone as a guest, not camping, just to swim and it's wonderful...the people too! I have shared a few pics of a time my friend and I took our kids to swim! There is 2 pools and rarely full so it's much more enjoyable than a regular public pool in my opinion! So even when not camping, it's fun to do a day visit!

Deep River Campground is by far one of my favorite places to stay! I've been here 3 times now! The staff are extremely friendly and helpful! Great place to enjoy beautiful nature and plenty of trails and places to walk around, my dog loves it! Plenty of places to fish or you can go canoeing, nice playground, 2 pools, nice laundry facility, clubhouse equipped with jukebox, pool table, tv, seating areas, and arcade games! The restroom and shower facilities are nice and always very clean! Not only can you bring your camper here, they also have small cabins for rent and provide plenty tent camping sites, with or without power and water! I highly recommend staying here!

We recently stayed at Deep River Campground on our way to Myrtle Beach. I would absolutely recomend this campground to anyone. Scott was extremely helpful and accommodating to me over the phone. He made sure our sites were easy to access and nice pull through sites since we were arriving late at night. Campground was clean and cozy and was a wonderful place for children. We will definitely be back for a longer visit and will tell friends and family of our excellent service!

I LOVE this place! The owners & staff are so friendly & helpful. They make you feel like family. The facilities are kept clean & well-maintained. The pools are ready for swimming every day. One of the best campground experiences I've ever had. It was great to see how busy they were over Memorial Day weekend.

I just camped here with my daughter (as part of a larger tent camping group) Labor Day weekend. It was a nice venue, though we were basically camping on a large grassy field in the middle of two roads. We were right under a massive street light with no tree cover, so it didn't get super dark at night when it was time to sleep. Many of the people in our group also had an issue with fire ants getting into their tents. It would be nice for future visits if they could spray the tent sites to help prevent this. No one wants to set up their tents on a site infested with fire ants. Overall, the experience was really good, though. The pavilion we rented for the group site was really nice and protected from the elements. The bathhouse was relatively clean and well maintained. There were two pools and a small playground, which were really nice for the kids in our group. We had easy access to the lake for canoeing and fishing. The best part about this site was the staff. They were friendly and very accommodating. They went out of their way to make sure we had what we needed and felt welcome. The owners even did face painting for the young kids and set up a small fireworks display. We had a good time, but I like a little less open space when I'm tent camping. I also hope that they try to address the fire ant issue.

We had a fantastic time at this campground. The new owners are awesome and working hard to make this a great campground. From what I understand they have come a long way from what this place used to be. The kids loved the pools they were exceptionally clean. The bathhouses are older but very clean. The only problems we see are the sites we were in were not level and it took extra boards to get our rigs (We had 4 in all) level. I expect that the owners will be working on this as they have on all the other issues that used to plague this park. We will definitely be going back in the future.

We stayed here for about 6 months while looking for a house. It felt like home and was hard to leave!! Nikki, Scott & DJ were great. The surroundings are very scenic and relaxing. We enjoyed the lake & birds. The 2 pools are wonderful as well. DJ keeps them immaculate! You won't regret staying here! It's the best in the area.

What once was a thriving summer campground, full of kids, campfires, fishing and pool fun has now become a workman s camp where residents leave at 5am and come home at 7pm, thanks to a new Toyota factory being built nearby. The residents are mostly construction folks who live in their RVs.This is a new dynamic for the owners. Rather than organizing bonfires for the campers and ready the store for families looking for a snow cone, the fire pit has become overgrown since there s nobody who would want to partake in a fire, and the shelf items in the store are stagnant (with food items being quite out of date). Also, with the per diem workers making a big paycheck, the rate for a site has gone up too. Most spots are shaded or partially shaded, and most have full hookups. Some sites are VERY unlevel, but the staff is happy to bring over a loader scoop of gravel to fill in the low spots, cinderblocks, or whatever else will help you get set up. Cable TV/internet is available for purchase at the local Spectrum store in town. There IS free wifi available, but the signal is only in the main store area. AT&T gets 2 bars (out of four), T-Mobile gets 2 bars, and Verizon gets 2 bars. Water pressure is a steady 60 psi, and in the months I was there, power only went out twice, and only for a few seconds during heavy weather.I m saddened to see the playground equipment being unused and unattended. The pool sits empty most days, the patio behind the store is unused, the soda machine and jukebox haven t been plugged in for quite some time since the guests here come home after work tired and want nothing more than a shower and bed so they can do it all again the next day.All that being said, there are some transient sites available, and they re the best ones in my opinion. Right next to the lake, a pretty view out of the RV windows, big stone fire rings, and every site comes with some complimentary fire wood for your first night. The campers leave each other alone, and the caretaker, John, is always on the lookout, so I routinely left my camper unlocked. Nobody is going to steal anything.I m hoping that once the factory is built and the workers move on to the next job that the place will go back to a robust family campground. The big room in the office building was once full of kids on the video arcade machine, eating hot dogs in the booths, and playing on the pool table, but now it sits empty and unused. For transients and people looking for one or two nights, it s perfect. The cost isn t prohibitive, the staff is the most accommodating I ve ever met, and the scenery is tranquil.I would absolutely come back here again.

Linda, the manager, and her staff were beyond great. I called to ask if I could still get a campsite late Saturday night, and it was absolutely no problem. Their business hours end at five, but they were nice enough to meet me at 6:30, show me toy site, answer questions, and didn't bother with payment until the morning. Their customer service made the trip. The campgrounds are spacious, with a very large pond for fishing and canoeing, and Deep River runs right next to the camp. My son and I had an exceptional experience. If you want a quiet getaway, this is the place.

Just returned from a tent camping visit with our Cub Scout Pack at Deep River Campground after a day trip to the zoo. We have camped in many campgrounds and our parents called this the "resort" campground! It is under new ownership and the owners absolutely rolled out the red carpet for us and our boys. The actual campground is located immediately at a lake with great fishing (our boys happily caught some big ones!) and kayaking/canoeing. The scouts loved the boating and even hiking the very picturesque trails surrounding the lake. The bathrooms with three showers for each gender were spotless and well stocked. There was a small playground the boys enjoyed and even a game room to play pool and arcade games. The owners went above and beyond after I inquired about area dining when they offered to provide dinner for our group for a small charge. What a relief to return after a long day at the zoo to a beautiful spread laid out for us! The owners even decorated for the boys and made a special "Welcome" sign for them specifically! We camp monthly and this is by far the best experience we've ever had and it is by far the most affordable of any campground in the zoo area!! Our Pack has asked to return every year!

Very nice management. Linda went out of her way to make sure our camping experience was enjoyable. My only complaint is that there should be shelves in the showers to keep clothes dry and wife said that some stalls in women's bathroom needs locks. Overall had a great time. Grandson caught a nice 6 pound catfish on Sunday

Was a wonderful place to stay until I questioned a charge for a propane fill. Manager got very defensive, extremely rude and immediately said I wont be staying another month. Hopefully the owner, who's very nice and helpful the one time I've interacted with him, sees the pattern of poor customer service and remedies this before he loses more customers. I've upgraded my star rating because of the owners prompt communication with me regarding the manager. I will edit again once everything has been resolved.

We stayed at Deep River Campground for 10 nights while visiting family in nearby Greensboro. It s in a beautiful setting on a lake. Our grandkids loved feeding the ducks. The owner, Scott, provided them with all the fish food they wanted. Scott was such an amazing host, taking care off all of our needs in order to make our stay perfect!

We stayed at Deep River Campground for the summer, and had a great time.It is an older style campground that caters to families, so occasionally there are a lot of children. The place is well managed and kept clean and fairly quiet. This is a great place to relax. You feel like you are really out in nature, but there is convenient shopping just a few miles away. We would definitely stay there again.

Deep River is a fantastic place to stay. They make you feel very welcome and at home. During my stay they made sure my site was all leveled out and they even helped me when I got locked out of my car. They have done above and beyond what I would expect from a campground. The facilities are immaculate and up to date. When their playground was getting fixed it took them only a matter of I'd say a couple of weeks. They tend to their pool and do a lot of upkeep of the property to keep things beautiful. Everyone is very nice ans accomodating. I will be staying again in the future. Their pricing is very very fair especially with 2 pools, both of which are different in depth. They also maintain their grass which may not seem like a big deal, but it is if you don't want ticks and you have a dog. Their bathhouses are extremely clean and never have any odor or mess. They have a very tight knit community which is really nice and helped me feel welcomed. Another thing that's really nice is when I ran out of propane they actually delivered it to my rig. If I had children I would definatley feel comfortable bringing them here. Thank you again for making my stay here so pleasureable.

Very nice campground and well maintained. Staff was very nice and helpful.Has a very nice fishing lake, access to Deep River, and wooded hiking trails on the property. Our whole family really enjoyed it here. We will definitely be back again when the weather is warmer to enjoy the pools and all the activities here and around the area.
