This is one of the worst Avis franchise I have ever used. I would highly recommend finding another franchise if you are renting from Avis. I had massive issues with them. I returned my car here and they charged me $400 saying the car was excessively dirty when I returned it, yet it was actually quite clean. There are lots of other options, I would use one of them.

Avoid like plague (not just this location but Avis in general). I rented a car over the weekend to go see the solar eclipse. On the way back 87 was clogged so we didn't make it in time to return the car by 11pm. Knowing this may happen, I explicitly asked what should I do in that case, and was told to just return the car to 43rd St location, that there would be no penalties. Instead I was charged over $800 for being 2 hours late (the rental was for 3 days and 7 hours and we returned it after 3 days and 9 hours, well within 4 days that they charged us). These people are thieves, I'll never rent a car from Avis again.

The woman with blonde hair and the guy outside with longer hair are awesome! So professional, kind and efficient. I booked the car only 30 minutes before and was given a beautiful clean vehicle and we were ready to go!I watched as the lady at the counter patiently explained the agreement to a European couple. It was challenging because they didn t understand or kept interrupting and she remained calm, professional and spoke to them in clear terms using simple words so they could understand. I work in customer service and I really admired the way she took care of these people who needed extra attention. I hope I can be as patient and kind as she was.Amazing experience to find not just a car, but people whose traits one wishes to emulate.

I had a prepaid reservation at the Avis Warren St location in Manhattan. When I arrived to pickup my car there was a handwritten note on the kiosk window saying the location was closed with no explanation. Avis made no attemp to make me aware of this before I arrived for the pickup or to offer alternative arrangements. The website offered no solutions. Luckily, given it was a holiday weekend, I was able to secure a rental at a different location. The desk agent at the 11th Ave location was friendly and efficient, even spotting that I was being charged an additional fee because I was picking up from a different location then where I had made my original reservation - a change that was forced on me because original pickup office was inexplicably closed!! I will add, this is the second time I have had an issue with Avis at the Warren St location. I had a prepaid reservation in July 2023 only to be told upon arrival that they had no cars ! I gave Avis the benefit of the doubt by using this location again, thinking my first experience would not repeat itself. Fool me once Avis has lost my trust and loyalty to them as a customer. I will always pick an alternative rental agency and will certainly recommend all my friends and family do the same.

This Avis is the closest car rental place to my work and therefore is routinely used by myself and other employees. For example, I rented 7 cars in 2023 from this location. The last three rental cars were disgusting. Trash in the center consoles at pickup, sticky surfaces, leaking liquids, smells. The worst part is after the last rental I received a fine of $450 ( a letter arrived in the mail a month and a half after drop off) for pet fur in the back seat. This is impossible. 1. I used this car for a work commute and did not use the back seat, 2. no one else got in the vehicle, and 3. I have no pets to produce fur. Ridiculous but per rental policy you have no fight.The only redeeming fact is my place of employment has now 100% banned this office from rentals as others have had similar complaints (amounts to over 1000 car rentals/ year lost for this office). Avoid this scammy and gross place at all costs.

Update 2/21/24: Avis said they would issue a refund and never did. WORST customer service experience ever. I would strongly recommend against using Avis.TLDR: Avis charged me for a parking ticket that was given an hour before the car was in my possession and has not be helpful in resolving this.I received an unauthorized charge on my card for a parking ticket for $157 that was issued at Avis s location: 66 E 11th New York, New York at 8:08AM on 9/26/23. I disputed this with my bank and somehow lost the dispute. Although my reservation was supposed to be at 8AM, I did not actually receive the keys to the car until closer to 9AM due to the computer system being down and I had to fill out information by hand and wait patiently to receive my car. The car was parked on the street when we picked it up. It is unacceptable to make a customer pay for a ticket that the car received prior to even having possession of the car.

I rented a car from Avis in Greenwich Village and it was SO easy! I had Donna Longo help me and she had a clean car ready and waiting for me in 10 minutes. I ve rented cars in downtown NYC other places before and I usually wait forever or they run out of cars. But she was wonderful and I will rent from Avis again for sure!

The car we rented was NOT mantained at all. It was given to us dirty on the outside and the insidie. As soon as we took off, the low tire pressure alarm came up. We called them and they told us it was fine. It wasn't. The tire had a huge damage and every 3-4 hours we had to constantly refill with air. The washer fluid was low also. This is not ok from a company like Avis. We also asked to have the etoll unlimited but they "forgot to add it". Thankfully we called them and they should have add it. Shout out to the security guy who was nice to us, but apart from him everything has been a total disaster.EDIT: Avis asked us in the commenti below to contact them directly through a DM which is not possibile on this platform. If they could provide us an email address, like the others, that would be great. Otherwise it's pointless.

I've got the worst car rental experience after being Avis preferred for so many years. It's kind of a scam for me. They charged me over double price what it was agreed. And the car was not in a good condition. The car with full gas over 400 miles to go and gas ran out after around 200 miles. The window glass is a bit cracked and no glass water back seat door not able to open etc will never come to this location

The car I received was dirty. While I was standing there a customer dropped the car off, they took 5 minutes "cleaning" it and then gave it to me. The car smelled and was filthy. Only the outside was clean. Shortly after driving off I realized the car had a slow leak and had issues with the tire pressure sensors, as they kept going off. Clearly they did not check the car before giving it to me. The second car I received had a large swipe on the side so it had yellow scratches on the door and the seatbelt sensor did not work. The seatbelt sensor just kept going off even though there was no one or nothing in the seat. This car was also dirty. So I received 2 broken cars. I gave 2 stars because the man at the front desk was very nice and professional.

Avis sends me regular emails promising discounts and vehicle upgrades. Although I click the appropriate link, I never receive these perks. The last time I tried reaching customer service, it was closed and the website on which I might contact someone was down. My last vehicle did not have an Easy Pass. I was told it s built into the license plate and not to worry. When I went through toll plazas, messages flashed that the toll was not paid. I am worried that I ll be receiving a huge bill.Avis used to be my rental car of choice but I m looking around for other options now.

I m giving 2 stars because I really can t believe I was told to come all the way here to get my keys that I left in the car. I get to the location at around 4:50pm and nobody was in the office. The guy who was supposed to be there (black with a ponytail on his head) was rude af when he finally walked in. He acted like I was inconveniencing his day by asking where my keys were. He faked looked through everything and said oh can you come another day I can t find them . I told him I m not and he needs to actually look. He got an even more sassy attitude. Like no one is forcing you to barely do your job. And to have an attitude after you walked yourself all the way to Sweet Chick and back (which I m sure is a long break) and is upset there is a customer. Like find another job.

Renters bewarewe renting a car but declined the fuel refilling option, Teaona sneakily added the service and cover with her fingers when asking for initials on the rental agreement. We found out about it when we return the car and received e-receipt in our email.

We have been using this Avis for years now and the service and speed has gotten worse and worse each time. Our pickup was for 9:30 am. We were there at 9 am and we didn t get the car until 10:30. The car wasn t cleaned and didn t have gas which caused the delay and made us over an hour late to a family event. The cleaning job was also very sloppy given their time crunch. Incredibly disappointed that they do not respect customers time.Edit: Avis has contacted us to try to ameliorate the situation. While it doesn t give back time with our family we do really appreciate the gesture. Bumping up to 3 stars

Gave us a car with frayed wiper blades, tires with low pressure, a cracked windshield and generally an ill maintained car.The drive was very UNSAFE as soon as it started to rain, we had near zero visibility on the highway. Improper maintenance and inspection practices at this location.* In response to the note from Avis below : We called the store and insisted on a redemption action .They tried to give us a miniscule redemptive back.Thank you for replying

The reservation process using the app was user friendly. I immediately received a confirmation email. The staff at the East 11th Street location in Manhattan both times I ve rented have been extremely courteous and professional. I arrived early at the location and Leon at the counter was able to accommodate me. Leon was extremely helpful, courteous and professional. No issues with the vehicle. Great job!

Rented for one week: 12 passenger van was dirty at first but the guys cleaned it well when ask and they were very friendly and accommodating, they worked very hard. When we received the van it had scratches and dents and we ask for a replacement, but they said this type of vehicle was hard to get and no more available. There was another family who received an identical one right before us which looked new and perfect but i guess we were too late. They could have called around for other locations to see but they did not, they assure us the van was in working condition (WRONG!)!) We left that night to go on our family vacation to our family reunion but while driving and we made the first gas stop, ROACHES throughout the van. ( I keep a clean house but there were multiple from the front all the way to the back of this van, impossible!) 2) While the first drive, the van began to shake, now while driving from NY to NJ you cannot go past 25-35 mph in the city with the traffic and pedestrians so the shaking was not present during this time but when we got on open road and went up to 70 or higher then it started to shake. Don't know if it's the suspension or the balance of the tires but it was bad. We did buy roach spray but that seem to calm down the appearance of roaches for a bit, they were still there as 1 or 2 still show up from time to time but now I have to shake everything and wash down everything before taking into the house, so much of inconvenience! SO MUCH!The manager asked if we called to do an exchange, but with this type of vehicle it would have been hard to find while out of state and our reunion started the next day, as i am the president of my family committee this would have set my time back so much more and I was on a schedule. Another reason why Avis/Budget is not a choice, the prices are right but your vehicles are not properly serviced can run you out of business.

We had a bad experience right from picking up the car to giving it back. We first picked up a car from the east village brach (11th and broadway). The car was flashing it will turn off soon, stop driving . We went back to the branch to ask for them to inspect it. After I asked Donna to send someone over to expect the car and she refused a first time my girlfriend went again to ask for the same thing. After giving her a lot of attitude she sent someone to check the car and that employee agreed that we had to change cars before our roadtrip. However, they asked us to go to the other branch (42nd street) to pick up the new car. We were supposed to pick up the car at 1pm but ended up leaving at 4pm towards our destination. When we were checking in and dropping off the car at the 42nd street branch, the employee wanted to charge us 25$ extra for dropping it at this location (when they told us to drop it there) and a 250$ for dropping it at 5pm not 1pm (even though we ended up leaving at 4pm from their store). The most salient problem with this company is their customer service. The employee at 42nd street claimed that Donna was the one who taught him everything. If a group of 22 year olds noticed that the way they were talking was unacceptable and rude, then there is something fundementally wrong with the training of the staff. Not only did Donna talk to me as if I don t understand but the employee at the 42nd street branch was raising his voice and being very rude asking us to calm down when he was the one who needed to calm down. Again their customer service is terrible and the employees and the one teaching the employees everything need to be trained again and need to take a course in discipline and communication.

Their faulty car and incompetent staff almost killed me! Incompetent roadside assistance failed to help me over the course of 8 calls (preventative), then did not show up to the side of the highway in which their vehicle almost killed me for over 12 hours. All in all, I ve got first hand experience with the companies neglect and the danger it causes to their clients.And this was a luxury rental! What a joke!

If you think you re saving yourself time by getting a car in Manhattan instead of the airport, you re wrong. It takes an hour or more to get your car, so plan accordingly.Wow so much worse than I thought. So disorganized. They gave myself and some else the same car. They do not communicate. It s taking longer to get my car than to sign the paper work

Waited over an hour to pick up a car that I reserved and I ended up just leaving because there were still 5 people in front of me. Only 4-5 people were getting cars each hour! We were just standing there waiting. The staff is nice but prepare yourself for an hour or 2 wait to get the car. Who has time for that?!?!Also in the past I have had to dispute parking tickets that the car has accumulated while parked out on 11th St. Avis eventually paid the tickets (since the car was ticket before I rented it) but disputing it takes a lot of time and energy! (You have to call a 1-800 number, provide evidence that you didn't get the ticket, etc. It took hours.) Again, who has time for that?!?!?

bald tires poor tire and car maintenance. Toyota Sienna Back door rubber gasket door wouldn't close properly had to install myself. Glued improperly. Vehicles unsafe Make sure you do a proper check I was in a rush .Didn't realize tire Alarm was on the vehicle had to run around with an air pump fill the rear passenger tire once or twice a day. Tires on the vehicle need to be replaced.

I have not rented a vehicle in years but when I needed one for May 2023, I went to Avis and they did not disappoint. The rental process was seamless; pick up and return was smooth. I got the exact vehicle that I needed and it was very clean. I would highly recommend them for all of your car rental needs specifically the Greenwich village/East 11th Street location.
