We booked the 1850 House for our wedding weekend and our guests all enjoyed their stay. Unfortunately, the positive review ends there. Our contract states we would be refunded the deposit within 3-5 business days, however it took 40 days and many unanswered emails and phone calls. The innkeeper Joseph totally ghosted us via email and phone. This was the last thing we wanted to do post-wedding. Very disappointing and unprofessional service.

I arranged a team meeting and we booked out the 1850; the space was superb. Rooms were comfortable, the common areas were relaxed and cozy and the outdoor deck area allowed us to have a fun dinner (utilizing the bar onsite).Joseph and Kyle were just wonderful; incredibly welcoming and helpful - no matter what time of day! I can't wait to book this hotel for our next event!

We stayed at the 1850 House with a group of 14 friends for a long weekend. It was outstanding!!! We booked the entire hotel. The owners and staff went above and beyond to make sure that we had a memorable weekend, including organizing a specially catered dinner. The rooms are very comfortable and the mattresses are plush. The interior decor is charming and the front porch was decorated with mums. We enjoyed hanging out in the lounge areas. The outside amenities included a fire pit as well as seating areas.

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at 1850 Inn. Kyle's customer service was truly above and beyond, as was the rest of the staff's. The room was clean, bed was incredibly comfortable, and the shower, thermostat, and TV were all in tip-top shape. The grounds were lovely, especially the back patio with tent, rocking chairs, and a beautiful view of the creek. The Inn is next door to a few cute cafes, restaurants, bookstore, a bakery, etc., so it's very easy to walk around the little town and grab a bite to eat. We hiked the mountain across the street before breakfast and there was a lovely view. Bookmarking 1850 Inn, will definitely be back!

The 1850 House hosted us and our microwedding celebration in October of 2021, and we had a wonderful experience. The staff was super personable, accommodating, and pleasant to work with, going above and beyond; the rooms were cozy and very clean; and the building itself and the grounds were beautiful. Our guests rented out each room so we reserved the full inn for two days, and the staff transformed the already lovely back deck into a gorgeous reception space for us. The inn also has a great location, it's very central and near a lot of local activities and nature. The Mohonk Preserve day passes that are included with your stay are a nice touch too. We are so glad we hosted our special day there and are looking forward to returning for future wedding anniversaries.

1/6/17:I had a wonderful 2-night stay here at the Inn. The photos online don't do it justice, as the attention to detail was astounding. I enjoyed the rustic old look coupled with the modern and up to date accommodations. Coming during the wintertime and mid-week was an interesting experience, as the low traffic offered a very quiet and intimate atmosphere to spend in this B&B. The room I was in was fantastic and the bed and pillows were so comfortable. The staff I met, Jimmy, Debra, and John were attentive and very friendly! I really had no problems with my stay.Last but not least, the breakfast both days was so delicious and the presentation didn't disappoint. It is a beautiful place and I would go again.

The staff was super friendly and available but not intrusive, the rooms are nice and thoughtfully designed and super clean, the common living room is bright and spacious, and it s close to several nice towns and practically on the Empire State Trail dedicated rail to trail. We were visiting at the end of covid, so there was a limited continental breakfast but the breakfast surprised to the upside and have heard from repeat guests that the food is good when the dining room is open. Unlike most inns, this one surprises to the upside, especially for the price point.

What a wonderful, pleasant surprise. The 1850 House has a spacious back deck overlooking the creek. There prices are reasonable and food was high quality .We enjoyed our time. Service was exceptional too. Bravo to this quaint restaurant and inn.

Had a fantastic weekend at the 1850 Inn and tavern despite the torrential rains! Very comfortable rooms. Stayed in 7 street side a bit noisy but next time we ll book 5 toward the back. Looking forward to the delicious breakfast already! Thank you to Mike and Kristin for making our stay so enjoyable.

Great experience. The rooms were had a great design. They were both had very historic feel with some modern touches. What really made this stay great was the staff and their dedication. They genuinely wanted you to have a great experience. They went above and beyond to make your stay a good one. Plus it was fun talking to everyone in the tavern

Not worth the money . Inn is ok but they have squeaky floors and stairs and thin walls. The Inn is in a very small town with little to do and see and a lot of businesses in the small town are cash only. Rooms are ok but not worth the price. Restaurant was closed on the last long labor day weekend, which was odd and disappointing. This impacted our breakfast options and price should have been reduced considering the restaurant was closed and we had to source out eating options. The restaurant is now closed for the season until the spring. Very inconvenient. There needs to be a kitchen open on the premises for at least a hot breakfast for the price you pay for the rooms. The most disappointing part was their lack of compassion to a unexpected medical family emergency that occured during my stay and their refusal to refund even half of the one night we could not stay. We left at 1pm with ample time to rebook the room since check in isn't until 3 pm. I was totally taken aback by their reaction and lack of compassion to my situation. I wasn't asking for the full night stay amount back and offered to accept even less so I wouldn't be out completely, but was told they are a small business and would not refund even a partial amount. Mohonk mountain gave me a full refund on the same day due to our situation. That's how a company should react so new customers come back and recommend their establishment. The manager even gave an example if a NJ flood victim had to cancel their reservations, they would not get a refund on short notice. The partial refund would have been around 90.00 because it was a Sunday to Monday stay at 199.00 and I was willing to accept less to get something back. It was shocking and completely unacceptable considering I paid 500.00 for the two nights and returning 90.00 or even 50.00 would not have hurt them in the least even if they didn't rebook the room. Not much I can do about it except to take this as a loss and a lession learned. I do not recommend the 1850 House Inn and will not come back. Not worth the money for what you get. Extremely dissatisfied. Be aware.

This was our fourth visit to the inn and it is consistently authentic, charming and wonderful. The owner Joseph could not have be a more hospitable and accommodating host. The entire staff makes you feel comfortable and at home. The signature bacon in the morning is out of this world delicious!Thank you ... we will see you again in 2019!Sent from Cara's iPhone.

What a lovely inn! The staff could not be nicer. Loved the room. It's stylish without being kitschy. Breakfast was very good, especially the glazed bacon. The patio is laden with flowers and overlooks a creek. It's a great spot!

I had the opportunity to attend a meeting at The 1850 House today. I also was given a tour of the entire Inn and its surrounding grounds.Without a doubt, I would stay there and would recommend it to anyone looking for a wonderful lodging experience. The Innkeeper, Amy, and the owner, Michael, are warm, welcoming and extremely knowledgable. The Inn was immaculate and gave me the feel of stepping back in time - to a time where things slow down and you can relax. I really like the Tavern area, too. It seems like a wonderful place to have a "night cap" while winding down your day.All around classy place with great hosts!

Me and my partner were immediately greeted with kindness and hospitality. I was given a full tour of the amenities during check in. The common area is impeccably furnished and we had a wonderful time with the other guests, as well as some delightful conversation about the town with the owner, Mike. The rooms are rustic without being stuffy and old, bathrooms are clean and modern, and the bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was hot and that might have been the best bacon I have ever tasted. Rosendale is as cute and bucolic a town as any and staying here just made the experience that much more special. Simply staying here and experiencing the town of rosendale is a vacation in and of itself. I can't reccomend the 1850 house enough. Thank you for the special evening!

Genial and helpful service. A surprising mixture of the antique and the modern (A beautiful brick building with WiFi!). A spacious patio with a restaurant serving excellent food Wednesday through Sunday. Including breakfast service, it all contributes to a friendly atmosphere where you can get to know the other guests. Easy access by car to New Paltz and scenic tourist spots like Mohonk Preserve. My wife and I have been repeat guests since 2014. We ended each say in clean, well kept rooms with the most comfortable beds that get you ready and energized for the next day. Madly in love with the 1850 House!

My husband and I really enjoyed our stay here when we came up 2 years ago for a friend's wedding. The staff and accommodations were lovely. Unfortunately, we can't give them our business anymore (I just tried to!). We have a young daughter now and they do not allow children at the hotel. Just wanted to let people know that it is not a family friendly establishment. :-(

Went with 2 girlfriends for a late night snack. One had rose wine from Portugal, and my other girlfriend and I had their wonderful clam chowder. Beautiful ambience, and great service! Immaculate restroom. Great place to entertain friends!

Friendly, welcoming and attentive owners and staff. Fantastic food. Great outside deck along Rondout Creek. Great music on weekends and sometimes Thursday nights also. Beautiful town. Prices are moderate. Worth a visit or a weekend in their inn. Right in town, plenty to do and see.

I have been debating on whether to write this review or not, but I just cannot let my experience last week go unnoticed. Last Sunday, about 12 of us tried to visit this establishment for some impromptu drinks and dinner after our original plans were cancelled. Once we arrived we were told by the owner, Mike, that he could not feed us. And told the only available area was a sitting area in the back of the deck. (Mind you the inside was empty, as well as several patio tables). We were forced to move heavy rocking chairs, by ourselves, to be able to sit and converse with friends that some of us haven't seen in 20 years. I work in the service industry as a manager, corporate trainer, and bartender. In all my years I never seen a more unprofessional example of how a manager should act. This is money for you and your staff. No one in our group was loud, rude, or obnoxious. No one was acting inappropriately, because if we were I could understand refusal of services. But we literally drove, some hours away, to meet here, because you were highly recommended but we were all severely disappointed. Even after the majority of our group left (after 1 drink and to get food from someone willing to serve them) no accommodation were made for the rest of us. Surely a group of 5 was more manageable then 12, right? I guess not. Our server never came back. There were several groups that came in afterwards that were met with a warm greeting and no restrictions on their dinning experience. I only get to make the trip back "home" ever year or two, and this certainly put a damper on my visit. So if your looking for a place to dine, drink, or stay I suggest somewhere else. I know I will not be back.

My husband and I were married in April of 2019 and had our accommodations and reception at the 1850 House. The day was everything we could ask for and more. Joseph went above and beyond to make our day extra special. He is an extraordinary host. The 1850 House is cozy and charming, it was the perfect intimate venue for our day and everything we invisoned. I highly recommend 1850 for any special occasion.

The 1850 House is a great place to make your central headquarters for biking, hiking, eating, drinking and lolling around in a hidden jewel of an area in upstate New York. The staff is great, especially Amy who is super friendly, flexible and accommodating to the extreme. The food was great. The tavern and siting room offered tranquil places to unwind with old friends and new acquaintances. And, when you're done 'doing', the rooms are peaceful and everything we'd hoped they be.I highly recommend The 1850 House & Tavern to all.

Everything at the 1850 exceeded our expectations, even after reading other great reviews. The staff was very dedicated and friendly; the breakfast was rich and tasty, with many healthy options; the room was larger in person than on the pictures; the common room downstairs with the fireplace was amazing, especially in the evening. There's an outdoors deck and an extremely short walk to the water where you can sit down and contemplate the stars with little light pollution. We traveled in winter, when there weren't many people staying; I hope you get the same experience during your stay regardless of the time of the year. The only downside is that there isn't much to do in the Rosendale town. Fortunately you're only 13 minutes away from New Paltz, which is slightly more lively, and 20 from the Mohonk Preserve.

this place is awesome to stay at and hang, have drinks-food is good, great location...staff is super friendly except this owner mike. Prick, none of his staff cares for him, none of locals i am told like him. he is in the wrong business and should let the nice employees run it. Its the hospitality business and if he would look that up in the dictionary what that means its not him. Not even close to being hospitable to any guest. Pretty sad as alot of people love this place

Love this place and we try to stop in when visiting family in the area. We have attended a couple of showers here as well. Huge deck is lovely and we enjoy it in the summer time as it overlooks the water. Michael and Kristin make great hosts!

After booking a one-night stay and not reading on their policy page that children under 12 are not allowed, we showed up with our 4 year old and 10 month old. Well, the owner/operator could not have been any nicer. She went out of her way to make sure our children and our room were comfortable. She even found a high chair for our breakfast.....above and beyond!!! Not to mention the breakfast she cooked was out of this world delicious.....hands down, best I ve ever eaten at a BNB. And free bottle of champagne on our arrival. You cannot beat this place!!!!!
