We had our Chevy suburban towed to GT Transmissions recently when the transmission failed. We had just replaced the transmission five months earlier while my son had it at college in North Carolina. GT Transmissions let us know that it was shot and needed to be replaced. They patiently worked with us to try and get warranty information from the garage we used in North Carolina. After many attempts to get this info, both by us and by GT Transmissions, it was clear that there was no national warranty on the transmission they installed (or possibly rebuilt). Long story short we had GT Transmissions complete the install of a remanufactured transmission with a three year warranty. They kept us in the loop constantly which was the opposite of our experience with the other mechanic. So far the truck is running great with no issues. This is what a professionally run auto repair business looks like. Thank you Michelle for all of your help with this situation and for proactively keeping us in the loop on the progress of the reinstall.

They are not professionals, they kept my car for a week, and when I went back, it still was not fixed. Big rip off!I do not recommend this place.

Some agressive black guy with no teeth is living in transmission shop. If you park there to go to ihop he will block your car with his and then come out and yell that he is sleeping. Couple screws and teeth are missing in someones head .He is sitting all day by the window and watching. Try to avoid this place at all costs

Matt and his staff are professional, honest, and very skilled at what they do. The transmission went on my jeep and they wasted no time getting it in and rebuilding it for me. Michelle at the front desk was very polite and helpful all the way through, taking care of the warranty end and keeping me updated on the progress. Always returned my calls right away and they finished it much sooner than I expected which saved me money on my rental! Finished job on my transmission is above and beyond what I expected! Needed a clutch replacement on my Audi A5. Majority of Transmission shops will not work on Audi s or give you insane price estimates. Not GT Transmission, they said immediately they can do the job and provided a reasonable price estimate in 5 minutes! They did the job and it drives like MY Audi again! Turns out I needed a rebuilt transmission and radiator on my Xterra. They did great with timing and they allowed it to sit there for a few days so I can decide on whether I want to go through with the work or not, after all it as a huge decision financially. Our long time mechanic actually referred us to GT when our Jeep Grand Cherokee was getting stuck in 4 wheel drive mode. GT immediately tried to solve the issue for us. Ultimately we needed a new part which was ordered and installed. Our jeep is now running smooth again. Thanks for the friendly service and for troubleshooting our issue!Service: Transmission

Needing a new transmission is rough, and finding a good mechanic in general is a challenge. I'm so happy I took a chance on this place. Patty in the office was very sweet and helpful. She kept me updated, and the work was finished on the day she said it would be done. I really appreciate that. These people definitely deserve your business!

I Would 100% recommend this shop to whoever having some issues with their transmission. At the recommendation of my nephew we have brought our vehicles here for transmission repair. So far they have done excellent work on the vehicle we brought here. I would not want a rush job done on such an important part of my vehicle. I like that they take their time to get the job done right. It is always a pleasure to speak with Pat. I highly recommend their service.

What can I say. Having a transmission issue is a stressful experience, but the staff at GT put me at ease. More important though was that they were straight forward. They called me to explain that I needed a rebuild, quoted me a price and stuck to it. You know how when you go to the mechanic, you are always calling trying to find out whats going on? With GT they were always keeping in touch with me. The communication was great and when I did call they were pleasant and took the time to walk me through the entire process. When I picked up my car Gary, the owner came out, shook my hand and thanked me for my business. A small business, with a family feel, who was excellent and warrantees their work

Brought my car here to have my transmission looked at. Had an issue with reverse taking too long to go into gear. Two days later I was told that the transmission has to be rebuilt totally. The Shady part about all this is my car only has 33,000 miles on it why would I need a complete rebuild transmission, $1950.00, are you kidding. Brought my car to a buddy I know in Centereach who has a transmission shop and all it was was a shift solenoid and that my transmission was in excellent shape otherwise. They wanted to know who said I needed a complete rebuilt transmission. My car shifts beautiful and goes into reverse normally for a fraction of the cost that GT Transmissions wanted to charge me. Here is another inside scoop for you the owner Greg or whatever his name is visits junk yards almost daily to pick up parts for the transmissions He is rebuilding in your car, those are facts that I can prove. I would never recommend this place to anyone. If you think this is a made-up story I can furnish proof, solid proof that this is what happened to me when I went to GT Transmissions. This is not a made-up story although I wish it were. It is also funny how I get a reply to my review 5 months after I wrote it the truth is no matter what this person says the facts are the facts I needed a shift cell annoyed and the car was fixed for a fraction of what this person said I needed fax car only have 33 thousand miles on it facts I've had people come here and when they call where is the owner at a junkyard G maybe he owns a junkyard . Here's another fact I know someone who has a transmission installed for $2,000 at your shop and lo and behold you never even change the torque converter so what happened the car came back less than 4 months later and it needed a torque converter. I can tell you there isn't a transmission shop out there that would ever rebuild an entire transmission without changing the torque converter that is some Backwoods repair shop dysfunctional policy. The owners reply to my review was absolutely ridiculous there isn't a car out there that would need an entire rebuild for 1907 dollars that only has 33 thousand miles on it that itself is just common sense the only problem I having was it would delay going in reverse, wow a complete rebuild because the car delays going into reverse yeah okay guy. Oh and by the way a good friend of mine works in a junkyard you frequently attend on a monthly basis. Don't be mad with the truth change the way you operate that's how you make things right not defending you're useless policy of how you do business

Had my car there for 2 full business days to get a tranny rebuild, and called to check in on it and they didn't even move my car from where I parked it. Told them I was coming to get my car and didn't want their services anymore, and pulled in with a man trying to drive away with my car after we said we were coming down to get it, and was giving a huge attitude when I tried to get MY car that I own back! Don't work with this people they are untrustworthy and cannot handle things in a professional manner!

Awsome service and excellent staff. They are nothing but honest people and they do an exceptional job with the transmission. We have a Chevy trailblazer and 3rd and 4th gear went so we had to have the trans rebuilt. They give the best prices and they use the pest parts and you can tell with the way it shifts

We here at GT transmissions tell all our customers that we need your car for two to three days if your transmission needs to be rebuilt, we ask for this time so we have the time to complete the work that we already have in the shop and giving us the time we need to diagnose any other customers that dropped off their car that day , on average the shop does two transmissions a day. so to the man that got mad that we didn t fix his car with in two days, we are sorry but we need the time that we told you when you dropped it off, you were going to be next and we would have completed the job within the timeframe we quoted. your car had no reverse so when you called and expressed your anger that your car wasn t even moved yet and was coming down to pick it up, I got in your car and push it backwards and pulled it forward to make it easy for you to just pull away!! No attitude, I handed you the keys and goodbye.

Great experience. Went back since I am a bit paranoid over my transmission and they kindly check the truck over, took it for a drive, and calmed my nerves. Definitely recommend. Ps say Hi to Roscoe.

I had my jeep transmission fix 6 months ago I lost 4 gear its a automatic transmission anyway NO QUESTIONS ASKED THEY FIX IT NO CHARGE A pleasure to work with and nice to have a shop that STANDS BEHIND ITS WORK I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THEM

STAY AWAY! unprofessional workers! Called to see the status of the car and was told they need need my business and to come pick up the car. (Mind you I was told to call and check by the secretary there) NO ONE NEEDS THIS TYPE OF MECHANIC!! HORRIBLE!!
