Had an appointment for an inspection, took no time at all. Greeted by the front desk in a friendly manner. Used before for a wiring issue, was quickly diagnosed, repaired and reasonably priced.

Took my cars here for a few years and considered them reliable. Don't know what changed but things seem to have gone downhill.Exhaust system was rattling hard. Took it to them to look at and they called me back 20 minutes later saying everything looks good. I asked them to double check and they said no need. I literally drove right from there to another mechanic who found that the muffler hanger and strap had broken off and the whole left side of the exhaust system was dangling. Either lazy or incompetent but certainly not going back here.

Went there a few days back for brake flush, differential fluid change and some other fixing. The gentleman at the reception is really a nice and polite person and ready to help. They did all the works really nice and charged me reasonably. Today I went there for repair of my 2016 highlander exhaust pipe. The gentleman received me though I did not have an appointment, and took care of the problem. He did not even charge me for the service even though he could have taken advantage of the situation. I really appreciate their service and honesty, and will definitely go back to them every time.Services: General repairs & maintenance, Oil change

I m sad to post this because this WAS my go- to shop. Moose left and things seem to have gone down hill! I had brakes done about 4 months back. I knew they needed repair so I wasn t surprised by the cost. I was told at the time my axel was leaking and I may want to repair it if the leak gets very bad. Car running great - didn t feel any urgency about it. I made appointment for inspection on 5/31 and guess what? I failed inspection because the mechanic could feel the axel and arm attached to the front passenger wheel was hinky as he drove it all of 50 feet from my parking spot to car bay?? So I was told unless I got the $1,000 work done on Axl/arm they could not pass me. . I left and brought it to Firestone. I was in & out on the last day of month with inspection passed I no longer trust family auto unfortunately- and this story is why. They ve lost a good customer.

Moose and the team at Family Automotive have been fair and honest on all our visits to the repair shop. I have full confidence recommending friends and family to this establishment. It has a small shop feel with plenty of flexibility. Saturday hours are super.

They did right by me and were honest.After driving through too-deep puddles and causing unknown damage, I had no choice but to bring the car to someone local. I don't know mechanics in the area. Given the setup, they could have taken advantage of me.Instead, they diagnosed one problem accurately. The price I was quoted was within 10% of the "estimated cost of job" when using Google/YouTube videos of the repair. These people are honest and you will pay what you are supposed to. Very pleased to be treated right. 5 stars, honest mechanics are worth their weight in goldService: General repairs & maintenance

Awesome experience, usually do work on my vehicle myself, but have been pressed for time lately. It can be difficult to find a fair, honest and reliable mechanic shop that you can have confidence in, but look no further. Very fair prices and detail of work being performed. I will without a doubt not hesitate to bring any of my vehicles to Family Auto for routine work or service. Highly recommended!Services: Transmission, Tires, General repairs & maintenance

I have been going to this repair shop for 5 years now and every time I come here, they never disappoint me. I know my car is in great hands. My battery died, so I had my car towed here. They were fast and efficient. The prices are reasonable and the work speaks for itself. This is definitely my go to spot for my auto repairs. I am so satisfied with their friendly staff and the services they have provided me.Services: Tires, Brakes, Battery, Oil change

Worst experience at a mechanic i have ever had. I was here to get an oil change through Groupon and maybe because i was a new, young, female customer they felt the need to be very dishonest with me. The first thing i would like to complain about it when they gave me my oil change they failed to replace the sticker on my car. The second thing is while i was their getting an oil change i had them take a look at some rattling going on underneath my car. I was told it was the steering shaft and that it would cost $1200. My mind was blown because i felt nothing wrong with the steering wheel. With my crazy hours at work it is hard for me to go to my usual mechanic but after this i did and was very happy i did. My mechanic told me it was my front links making this noise and it would only cost me $205.. this made me furious. I don't understand all the good reviews because this place has dishonest staff and work ethic. I highly recommend Middle Country Automotive 2. These people actually know what they are doing.

I ve been coming here for the past 3-4 years with my Chrysler Town and Country and my Ford Edge and I will not go anywhere else to have my vehicles worked on.Everyone here, from the front desk to the guys in the back, is super friendly, knowledgeable, and above all, honest.No job is too big or small for this shop and I have always felt that their work and prices are beyond fair.Give these guys a shot, you will not be disappointed.

Have been going here for over years 10 years. Our family has 6 cars so we heve been through many maintenance and repair scenarios. Quality of work is always excellent. Most important thing is we have full trust in their diagnosis. They have earned that trust through their actions over the years. They look out for an economical solution and prices are extremely fair. Never a thought to even consider another shop.

I just wanted to take a minute to say Thank you to you for your generosity yesterday. My husband and I were here from Delaware when we developed a mishap w our tire. A very large screw was embedded in our passenger side wheel. We happen to be in the right place at the right time on our way to the Hamptons. We turned around to find a gas station and saw your garages open. When we pulled in, we immediately were greeted and someone came to our rescue by looking at the tire. We were told it would be a few minutes and the very nice young man, didnt catch his name but had a man bun/pony helped us by putting in a plug. We are so thankful to run into this business literally and so very thankful for how fast he was to help us in this time of need. I would recommend this auto service center to everyone. First time going to this shop. Read a lot of positive reviews however my experience was extremely disappointing.Went in for oil change and to have light bulb replaced. Had $22 coupon which included free tire rotation, which I was hoping to have done, and brake inspection. Price quoted for bulb replacement was reasonable. Took car in right away so all in all initially I was looking forward to this experienceOnce i was handed the receipt I noticed the top line of the receipt whereby there are sections showing tire wear and tire pressure readings were blank. I then remembered i wanted a tire rotation. I wasn't sure if it was done because nothing on the receipt stated it was. In fact, besides listing the parts and labor the receipt did not list anything else.The service adviser checked with the mechanic who stated it did not to be done. I was surprised cause I know I've put a lot of mileage on the tires but ok.As i was driving home I cycled through the settings on my dash and noticed the oil life indicator was not reset. Why was this not done? Every time I've had an oil change, regardless of the shop, they always reset it.I called Family Auto to complain and the gentleman who answered apologized. Fair enough. A short time later I realized something else. My check engine light in my car, which has been on for the last six months, was not addressed by the shop. How is it possible that the mechanic did not see the light on and the very least run the code? A reputable shop would at least let you know what the code indicates and tell you what needs to be fixed. Not family Auto. This is sloppy and careless work.I really started asking myself. Did the mechanic really look at my tires? I was supposed to have a free brake inspection. Was that done? Did they even inspect anything on my car? Considering nothing was listed on the receipt and the carelessness I alluded to probably not.I wish my experience had been better but based on what I encountered I won't be returning.

I have been bringing all of my family's cars to these guys for years and have never, ever had an issue with their work or their prices. And they are really nice guys as well. They are prompt, they are courteous, and I feel lucky to have found them. Bring all your vehicles there - you won't regret it.

I had a leak in my exhaust manifold gasket and I did not know of a local mechanic who could do the work. I called Port Jefferson Jeep and the agent said that for an exhaust manifold leak the repair could be over $1000. Also, I would have to bring it in to see if that was the only problem. My Jeep is a 2002 Grand Cherokee Overland and although it is in excellent shape it is 17 years old and I didn't want to put that much money into the car. I went online and found numbers of automotive shops and I lucked out when I selected Family Automotive. The manager Matt, was an extremely nice guy and understood my reluctance to spend that much on an old vehicle so he worked with me and we negotiated a price that I accepted. I still didn't know if the work would be done correctly or poorly. I dropped the car off in the morning and by late afternoon the car was ready and not only was it done correctly but the vehicle was clean inside which on many worked on vehicles they have a greasy steering wheel, dirty seats and mats. Not so in this case. BTW I am a retired Nassau County Police Officer and do not write reviews as a hobby, but when I find a business that warrants it I do.

Family Automotive really is family! There name says it all! There a 5 star auto shop that makes you feel good, and worry free. My wife and I have been a long time customers there and never had a problem. There prices are on point and service is impeccable. It s nice to know that we are worry free about a cars when we travel, because when and if there is a problem or maintenance service we are worry free. Thank you for treating us like family ...

Love this place! I use them all the time. I recently bought a Denali, and had my brakes done. Brakes continued to squeak after being changed. These guys took a lot of time to take care of the problem at no cost to me. They care about their customers being happy.

I first visited Family Automotive a couple of years ago because I had a coupon for a discount on a State inspection.BEST CAR-RELATED DECISION I EVER MADE.They are the nicest people -- Patient, willing to take the time to explain what needs to be done, (and why), and also to explain what does not need to be done. Honest -- Matt didn't recommend or do anything that wasn't needed, despite my ill-informed and incorrect diagnosis of a problem.Work is done well and quickly and at a fair price.Appointments must be scheduled in advance ... but they have never left me high and dry.I don't usually recommend anyone, but in this case I will make an exception. FAMILY AUTOMOTIVE is my recommendation for automotive repair and maintenance.

I made a appointment and they took my car right away. There is a comfy waiting area with coffee and TV available. The staff were super friendly and my wait time was not long at all. This is my new place! Amazing service. Thank you

Thought they were good people until I got my last oil change and a week after that oil change my car says it needs an oil change. You guys did not do my oil change and straight up lied. Never have I ever ran my business this way I will be sure to let all of my customers know to not go to you.

I was very impressed with the customer service. Very friendly and knowledgable. Their prices are fair. I like that Family Auto is a one stop shop. It makes it very convenient. I liked them for their low price and fast service but it all changed a month ago when I got a bigger than expected estimate. And the fact that after 4 visits in a year they still treated me like a first time visitor hurt a bit. They are still good but I opted for Mavis this time.

Came in for an oil change with no appt, in and out in 20 minutes.Edit: never had a problem here before. Took car in for 1pm appt, told it d take about 30 mins. Come back 30 mins later to find they never even took my car inside, and gave me an attitude to say alright we ll do it now. Guess staff was lacking today, cause it was just terrible service. Apparently it was the owner I spoke to that was incredibly rude. Won t be coming back here. Lovely staff, horrid owner.

Went there thinking I had a bad bushing, they double-checked and assured everything was ok. Did a wheel alignment good price, they didn't charge me for diagnostic of bushing. Highly recommend this place. Friendly service.

i made an appointment for an oil change at 9am and told them i was coming back at 1230 and they said ok that s fine. i came back around 1pm and they still haven t done my car. the manager Skip was rude and not helpful at all. he was giving me excuses and didn t care at all. it was such a waste of time. will never go back there and don t waste your time going there unless you want to deal with a rude manager and that don t even care about the customer.
