***!!!!Beware of this shop!!!!***I brought my 1978 Camaro in for them to install a dipstick. They did a bunch of work I didn't approve of and in the end I was charged almost 700 dollars. When I drove the car away it leaked transmission fluid on the way home and the issue was not actually solved. I seriously do not recommend this business, unfortunately. I reached back out to the company and they accepted no responsibility. They where brought the vehicle to fix a leak and now I am getting the transmission rebuilt again because this shop did not fix it. Do not trust them. I tried to call the shop and give them a chance to do the right thing but as you can read on the deflection they wrote in response to my review they really do not care that they cost me an extra two thousand dollars to get my transmission immediately rebuilt a second time after they touched it. Unfortunately I will be filling out a report with the consumer bureau through the New York state DMV. If anyone else has issues with this shop I can give you instructions on how to also file one as well. This will send your grievances to a board that oversees the shops automotive repair registration. If honest, skillful work cometed on my car I would have been happy but these guys could not fix a simple mechanical issue. Beware of this shop!!!!

Very unprofessional, I went there because I won a oil change ticket in a raffle, I went with my jeep renegade clean, no dtc lights or codes, so when they finished a simple oil change a airbag light came out on my dash, so I did not say anything because I have a good scanner and knowledge, so I found the front impact right side unplugged, and it was hidden of course. I unplugged my battery because is SRS system and I plugged the front impact sensor againg and of course the light on my dash gone away. That was very unprofessional and I dont recommend this place, zero honesty.....

Very honest repair shop. Very up front about everything. I was expecting a $2500 repair. It was only $75. They easily could have chosen to make the repair that I thought it was, but they discovered the underlying issue abs addressed it instead. They will definitely keep my business!!!

This auto shop is the best I've ever been to. John greeted me and told to make myself comfortable. My vehicle was immediately pulled in for assessment. The waiting area was clean and comfortable. Once I had a diagnosis John got right on the phone with the insurance company to process the claim. Of course the insurance company wanted to make it a complete hassle but John was persistent in ensuring that the customer (me) get the right outcome. And he succeeded. I will continue to use City Auto repair as my #1 go to. Tony took great care of my Jeep and got it all fixed up safe and sound for the wintery roads. What a great crew who treat people with respect and hospitality.

I ve had several good experiences at City Auto repair. John and his staff s work is great, prices fair, but most of all very honest. They have certainly earned my trust. I highly recommend them.. you won t be disappointed!

I brought my car in because one of the local dealerships said I needed to have my oil pan changed because they couldn t remove the oil plug. I brought it here and an hour later I was driving away with just an oil change. Highly recommended. Great customer service and customer care.

Brought my 98 grand am for a big repair. Tried 3 other shops who turned me down. The customer service is super and I am happy with the repair. I have to say we'll done.

I love these guys! I was traveling up from CT for business in a 30 year old MR2 which broke down just as I reached my destination, which was coincidentally (luckily!) across the street from City Auto. These guys fixed the car perfectly, charged me a very reasonable price (they could have charged me whatever they wanted because I needed to get home), and then called me to make sure I got home ok. You don't find many people like this anymore.

I went in thinking i would have two struts installed and all it was was a loose cross bar nut. Their mechanic Tony tightened it up and we were good to go.HonestHard WorkingTimelyService: Steering & suspension repair

John and his wife, along with Chris and the other mechanics, took great care of me when I had a purge valve malfunction. They even gave me a ride home and picked me up when it was completed. I have used their service twice on an old car...until now I am satisfied as each time they let me know what the issues and cost were, kept up with the schedule, reached out afterwards to make sure I was satisfied... I gave 4 stars because their hourly wage is a bit steep...(but so might it be for other places ..)

Excellent shop and they did great work while being very accommodating. Stopped in and they were able to diagnose my problem right then and there and got me in and had my vehicle fixed within 2 hours and I was back on the road. Highly recommend this place, you get what you pay for and City Auto Repair & Sales know what they're doing and they do it right.Services: Wheel alignment, Brakes

I would recommend this mechanic to anyone and everyone!!! They are the most honest mechanics I have worked with! They were able to diagnose issues that other mechanics locally were not able to diagnose! They also did not try to rip me off and helped me to save money! So helpful, professional and friendly!! My husband and I were on the way through town and they repaired our car quickly and pretty cheap for what they had to do. They got us back on the road, and during our repair Kevin gave us a ride to a nearby restaurant so we didn t have to pay for a ride, he even pointed out some local points of interest and recommended a couple hotels. They are a great shop!

A little background - I m a young single female and I m here from out of town. Home is 6 hours away. So when my car broke down I was of course upset, but also concerned my situation would ultimately be taken advantage of. I don t know anything about cars and I had no one nearby that could help me. John at City Auto was amazing. He communicated with me the whole time. He gave me a quote, but admitted it was high and wanted to keep looking to see if he could find anything less expensive. In the meantime they kept testing my car trying to get firm answers before doing any work. So basically, they originally thought I needed a fuel pump replaced, but after doing more testing and driving my car, John said everything seemed to be fine and I could come pick it up. Truthfully, City Auto could have charged me $1,200 to replace my fuel pump and I would have had to do it to get home and wouldn t have known the difference. Dealing with a shop that was honest put me at ease and I appreciate that so much. I ve never had an experience like that when it has come to having any of my cars repaired. I highly recommend them and wish they weren t 300 miles from home otherwise I d continue to use and recommend this shop.Service: Auto engine diagnostic

Well run shop that was able to fix my complex wiring issue in a reasonable time. Very nice waiting area and friendly staff. Easy to use financing available for those more expensive repairs.

I am really impressed with the level of professionalism along with how personable their employee (Bobby) was while they worked on my Volvo.Not too many places in Plattsburgh like to work on Volvos, and without any problems, they took my car and repaired it properly and in a very timely manner.What I really appreciated was the amount of communication all throughout the process. Bobby called every step of the way, keeping me informed and gaining my approval for necessary work and parts.I found them to be a little pricey, but the quality was well worth it and my car is running smoothly. Also, I have one more part to put on my car and because the overall cost for all of the work they did (alignment, 2 front tires, motor mount installation and an oil change) was up there, they offered to install the bushings for cost of part only - no labor fees.So, all in all, I am extremely pleased with their services and plan to bring all my vehicles there, exclusively, in the future.Services: Tires, General repairs & maintenance

C.A.R.S. has become my go to place for any issues with my vehicle. The owners are very friendly and refer to customers by name. The atmosphere of the waiting area is very inviting. On my most recent trip, they were able to get my vehicle in last minute for a diagnosis even though it was a very busy week just after a holiday. They were also able to complete my repairs a day faster than initially estimated. The text service they offer to confirm appointments and let you know when your vehicle is done is also incredibly convenient. Highly recommend!

We were TEN minutes late for a pre-scheduled appointment at another service center due to weather issues on the ferry and Monro REFUSED to honor the appointment. Thank you to City Auto Repair and Sales - which is right down the road. They were very accommodating -- inspecting the car in 20 minutes -- without an appointment!

I have been going to this shop for a few years now. Always good and honest work. It can be nerve wracking to go to a mechanic because you never know if you re going to be ripped off. However, at City Auto Repair, I always feel respected.

CARS saved us several hundred dollars during our 105k Subaru checkup! We don't take our car anywhere else. They always give fair deals and quick service. Very trustworthy mechanics. Absolutely recommend!

My appointment with City Auto was a pleasure as always. I'm always greeted with a hello plus this time I got a nice tour of the new facility. The new auto repair shop is very nice and accommodating. Thank you for a pleasant appointment and of course inspecting my car.

Very friendly. All I needed was air in my tires but they greeted me quickly and had me in and out in less than 10 mins. Plus the German Shepherd is super adorable

I cannot say enough about the shop and its owner. On my way to Canada from Philly and car breaks down on a Saturday afternoon. Shops are closed and can't find help. John opened the door (to his closed shop) and gave his expertise and time to solve our problem. Diagnosis and and repairs were done on the spot without an ounce of irritation. John was awesome the whole way through. He spotted the faulty work from a previous mechanic and got the the car running great too. Guys like this are hard to find and if I lived in the Plattsburgh area, I know this is where I'd be taking my car every time.Service: Brakes

Great service from start to finish. Courteous, professional. They even drove me home and picked me up as my car could not be fixed as planned, because the motor was too hot.I am a very happy customer and will definitely go back there when my car needs personal care.Just sad I did not find this garage before!!!Highly recommended.
