Spectacularly over-charged. Told the bill would be 1k, they charged me 1.9k. Will give them a chance to correct the bill but I m not confident they will fix it. UPDATE: Received a reply to my review saying "the resonator fell off after the pipe it was connecting to the catalytic converter was installed....and had to be replaced which cost $800" none of this work was explained to me or even included on my bill. I don't even think this applies to my vehicle. The bill says they replaced 4 spark plugs (they were replaced last year at a different location) and 4 ignition coils (one of which was replaced last year), and they did front brake pads and rotors. How this amounts to $1,900 is beyond me. It took them 4 hours to do the spark plugs and ignition coils? Bet. Would love to know what gold plated rotors they are using that they can charge $175 EACH. This location is SUPER shady, do not go here.

Got multiple parts taken care of only to find out half way home my back tires or tire is wobbly and making a tinking sound not to thrilled as I paid 1000$ + to get my vehicle repaired may not returnWhen you say everything else looks good doesn't mean I should have issues half way to my home.Very disappointed with mechanics now a days.They say everything is ok don't listen please please please get it in writing so if something like this happens to you, you will have it in writing everything is good when everything really isn't. Very angry

Jose, Francesca, and Sheldon went above and beyond. My car was very badly damaged in a minor accident. The repair was very expensive. All 3 were very kind in handling the bad news and understanding/flexible about my need to leave the car with them until payday. And, despite how complicated I understood it was to get all the necessary parts, Sheldon acquired everything needed amazingly quickly and Jose immediately committed himself to my repair. It was completed in lightening speed. I have never had that experience. I anticipated (based on past experiences) being without a car for weeks. In the end, they saved me a lot of money in rental car costs. I can t believe what an amazing job they did while being just great people to work with. I really appreciate them.

Awful experience with Tim. A simple appointment for a tire change ended up with a wait of 4 1/2 hours to fix things . They had my car up for an hour n a half and took my doughnut off to let me know they didn t even have my tire. Was talked down to by Tim and ended up having to drive out to Penfield and wait more.

Went in for an inspection and was treated AMAZINGLY. Francesca and Sheldon worked their butts off to make sure it was done in a timely manner. While waiting I had a lovely conversation with Francesca, and Sheldon took time to explain what was going on with my car and answered every question I had. Absolutely would highly recommend coming here for any of your auto needs!

If you asked me two years ago (or even a year ago), the Penfield location would be the only 5-Star Monro in the area.We ve recently had terrible experiences that brought them down to 1. I needed a belt replaced in my car ($150 at the dealer) that they wanted $500+ for with other parts. I took my car there for an inspection mid-December; dropping it off at 10am and we had to call an hour before close to see if it was done. We got a response along the lines of oh, we re getting to it now but we close in an hour so if you want it tonight you better get here. Apparently inspections take five hours if you just drop it off.Today (end of December) my wife heads to drop her car off for an inspection after calling and making an appointment last week. She s told nobody that does inspections is working today. The employee insists she must have made it on the online reservations that don t work. (She doesn t know she called, it would seem in his eyes.)In short, the place has gone downhill since Matt and Tim left. Don t expect to get anything done quickly and definitely don t use the online system - that hasn t worked ever.

I called and made an appointment to have my wife's car looked at. I told them that it had 1 bad ignition coil. I was quoted between 1400 and 2k to replace them all. I said I only wanted the one I knew was bad done on the phone. I asked if there was a charge for the diagnostics and was told no. So I brought the car in this morning. I got a call this afternoon saying "all 4 coils and sparkplugs need to be replaced." I told the woman who called not to do anything, I wasn't replacing 3 good coils and plugs that don't need it. She said "ok, bye." and hung up. Never offered a price to replace just the 1 that was bad, never mentioned anything about charges we might incur. A few hours later my wife went to pick it up and was hit with a $259 bill for "advanced diagnostics". I called and spoke to the shop manager, I told him I was told when I made the appointment there was no charge for diagnostics. He said that was wrong, he doesn't know why the girl who made the appointment told me that. I told him that I was not spending money to replace 3 good coils and plugs, he said I declined to have just the one replaced. I was never offered that. I was told all 4 needed to be done. He said the desk girl was still being trained and she made a mistake. He doesn't know why she didn't offer me to do just the one. I asked how much for just the one and was quoted over $300 for the coil and $80 for the sparkplug. Autozone has a 4 pack of coils for under $400 and plugs are $10-12 each. Highway robbery! When I asked him why it was $80 for a spark plug the only answer I got was, that's what the company charges. No offer was made to discount or refund the diagnostic fee we paid. Instead the manager offered to waive the labor and give us $100 off the total for the inconvenience if we did the 1 coil/plug. I cannot justify paying such a ridiculous markup when I could easily get the parts and do it myself for a fraction of the price. I only brought the car in there because I didn't want to waste the time doing it myself outside in the cold. Lesson learned I guess. I told the manager he can delete my file because I will never step foot in that shop again. They are taking complete advantage of people and don't seem to care in the least when you call them out on it. Complete and utter rip-off. If you can, do the work yourself or find an honest mechanic who won't gouge you nearly 10X markup on parts.

I was charged $350 for TWO rear brake rotors. This is a $35-$45 part. Monro also charged me $218 for "brake fluid exchange." If I didn't normally charge my brakes myself I wouldn't have known better. When I complained to the store manager, he said, I m sorry, yea, that s our package. It s not right but it s our package. So my experience is simple: Monro Ripped Me Off.

Sheldon saved Thanksgiving for my family and I! Just a few days before our 900+ mile drive to visit family for the holiday we had a flat tire. Sheldon and his team were able to replace our tires the very next business day. Then just a couple of hours before our trip our car would not start. I brought the car to Valvoline who replaced our battery but didn t fix the problem. I then got the car to Monro shortly before they closed and shared my dire situation with Sheldon. Despite being busy and having a long day Sheldon helped fix my car! We were able to start our drive that evening. He is a very capable and kind employee and should be recognized for his effort!

Let's you schedule an inspection online only for them to call you HOURS later and ask you to move it because they only have 1 qualified mechanic to do NYS inspections and he hasn't been in in over a week. Then the VERY RUDE woman who called and asked me to reschedule was extremely unprofessional on the phone when I asked why would it even let me schedule it and kept cutting me off and talking over me. I have NEVER had such disrespectful customer service. She blamed me for scheduling it online instead of calling.....how would I know you advertised service does not work...as a customer service professional she should really get some retraining. I will never give monro my business again.

I always have fantastic experiences at this shop. I take my two personal vehicles and a fleet vehicle here; and have been doing so for years. Sheldon goes above and beyond to make repairs happen in a timely manner.

I am never taking my car to Monro again.I brought my car in for inspection, which they failed because it needed new brakes. (That was true.) Since I normally do brakes myself, I brought my car home. I discovered then they had tightened the lug nuts on my car with an impact driver, which required me to clamp a 2x4 on my breaker bar to get the lug nuts off. They should have tightened the lug nuts with a torque wrench to avoid over/under tightening. If I had needed to change my tire on the side of the road, I would have been screwed. This, BTW is the second time this has happened with Monro... so they've already exhausted their second chance.To top it off, they said I needed new pads, rotors AND new calipers. The calipers are fine.So I'm not bringing my car back there again - not even for an inspection or oil change.

The mechanic & receptionist were wonderful to work with in the Penfield store. They were accommodating & flexible with their time, especially when I forgot to bring a part needed for putting my snow tires on.

Didn t rotate my tires with an oil change. I knew what tire had the least amount of tread left going into my oil change.Following the oil change, that tire was still on the same wheel. When I called to to question this, I was told that to my knowledge we always rotate the tires . Apparently my vehicle is the exception to this. No offer was made to correct this error. I will not be returning to Monro Mufer.

I recently went to Monro Muffler in Penfield to purchase a new tire. I d gotten a flat the day before. They said before they would sell me a tire they wanted to check the tire for punctures and/or leaks. They found the tire was leaking from the rim. They fixed the problem for $38.00 !!!!! The most honest mechanic I ve ever been to. And the place is neat and clean.

the general manager: Sheldon. destroyed my vehicle at another location and then moved locations promptly afterwards (:i went in to have my brakes done, amd after prices changed many times, dates changed many times i show up to my vehicle being crashed repeatedly on camera. after this i was still charged 940$ and after going to another mechanic i found out that no only were they done poorly but hardware was missing from my brakeshe should not be allowed to have a job as a mechanic and id like my refund that I'm owed immediately.

Had a 2 pm appointment for inspection, was told it will be awhile as the manager only inspector just left for break . When asked how long awhile I was told he the manager so probably 45-1 hour . I had my 2 and 4 year old me . Why make an appointment than . Lost a costumer for life .

I decided to ignore the negative reviews and give them the benefit of the doubt. I made an online car appointment two weeks in advance and received a confirmation so I assumed I was good. I showed up for my appt on a Saturday and the guy didn t even say hello after making solid eye contact with me. He just looked at me and kept changing the channels on the TV so I initiated a hello after a minute because it felt awkward. As he was looking for my appt in the system, he couldn t find it and I explained I made it online and he said that was the issue. Because I made it online, he said he didn t have my appt in for the day and he had several people in front of me and doesn t want to make me mad. The response was a strange comment because I was super understanding of the situation. I said I can wait for a while (a few hours while I do work next door) and he explained that I would have to wait all day and leave my car there. He was making comments to make me feel guilty/an inconvenience when they are the ones that messed up/there was a mix up of communication in their system (which is understandable). Long story short, the whole interaction was super unprofessional and from a basic human to human interaction, was bizarre. I am thankful that this mixup happened because I took my car to a elsewhere and had a great experience. Just the way this was handled I would not recommend anyone to go there.

Brought in vehicle for loud exhaust. Was looked at and told they needed to order parts. 3 days later, finally get person on phone and tells me it s going to be another $500 and they haven t ordered the parts yet. Told me I need to replace the catalytic converter and all the way back, quoting me $2395.Took my car to a dealer instead. Only needed a mid pipe replaced with a few misc parts to fix. Total bill from vanbortel Subaru was $620! Beware! They don t know what they are doing here!

Be careful. Work was done but wasn't good. They agreed to refund but I never got it. After waiting on hold for 1 hour calling corporate, they said the manager never initiated the refund.
