NO STARS Deplorable service. Swindling manager with the bravado of a maniacal Disney character. He replaced our battery/alternator on our working vehicle with another faulty battery. We came back because of a 24 month warranty and they put yet another faulty battery in the vehicle. After that failed within days, we took the vintage Volvo to another, more competent, skilled, honest and kind mechanic in Newburgh. We were warned by the better mechanic, that Monro Auto service twice tried to fool us. Monro blamed the vehicle for draining the battery, yet this was untrue. The competent mechanic confirmed that they put two faulty batteries in the vehicle and caused more damage to the car than repairing it. With kind confrontation, we tried to return the dead battery to Monro on Plank for a full refund or replacement, still under the 24 month warranty. They refused. The hubris of the manager, Ed, bellowed with misogynistic ignorance when I requested the trade, imploring me to call 'costumer service', squealing about how he had been out on disability and how this wasn't his problem. He 'called' his superiors, unempowered to handle the situation himself, puffed out his chest and asked us to leave. The anger, fear and loathing in his voice was akin to a scared little bully child losing their turn at bat and not getting their way with the ball. Their immaturity while handling supposed managerial costumer service was laughable. Do not go to this company, ever. It's as if you've stepped into a personal hell that emanates "I hate life and everyone around me, I have no love in my life, no confidence in my place on earth and so, you too will know my pain." Save your money, there are so many other, truly honest upright and kind mechanics in Newburgh that do not have superiority complexes and attempt to bamboozle their clients with faulty 'new' parts for repairs that further damage vehicles. There are more 'real' reviews on YELP. There are many fluffy, fake ones on this google review sight. DO NOT GO HERE, SAVE YOUR CAR. We are also contacting the BBB, it's truly egregious and we do not know how they are still in business with the whiny manager, Ed Felix.

Absolute WORST experience ever had at an auto repair shop. Brought a brand new truck in for a simple alignment. Both the tech and supervisor couldn t give me a straight answer why the truck was pulling to left side after they aligned it twice. Told me I can come back and have another technician look at it in a few days meanwhile no body there was capable of correctly aligning the vehicle non the less knowing what they were talking about. Extremely overpriced as well. Would highly NOT recommend.

I was able to get my inspection and other maintenance needed on my car. The gentlemen are very courteous, knowledgable and take the time to explain what they are doing, often you can negotiate a good price. #AMAZING!!!

Always very efficient. I only had a slow leak in my tire, they were able to plug it up quickly and send me on my way

Avoid, even for the simplest of tasks. Long wait time, near zero employees (2 total for the 3 hours I was there)Brought Vehicle in for scheduled State Inspection. Took 3 hours. Needed to purchase brake bulb for "safety req" to pass. Then machine "wasn't connecting" to the NYS system. Either an issue with my car or their system.I then brought it to Mavis the next day. Found (and physically showed me) 2 busted rear springs, and a mouse in my brake caliper.Leads to the conclusion that for that 3 hours, my car wasn't even really looked at all, and charged me $22 for a light bulb for the littlest effort put into my car

Terrific service from a great team. We are from Ontario Canada and were travelling and had stayed overnite nearby. In the morning our car wouldn't start and needed service right away or we would be stuck. Edward Felix and his technician squeezed us in to their busy Saturday appointments, identified the problem with the battery and had the battery replaced and us on the road in a couple of hours. We are super grateful and impressed, top customer service. And from waiting around in the customer area every customer gets this top notch service.

I got a flat tire late in the day, and my wife called around looking for someone to put a new tire on. Firestone couldn t even provide an estimate (and was closing early).Teo at Monro was terrific. He didn t upsell me, and stayed a little past closing to finish the job. It was small act of kindness and professionalism that had a big impact.Definitely recommend Monro if you need reliable service and an honest assessment.

Juan helped me out with a flat tire when the shop didn't have time, patching a hole that could easily have necessitated a new tire. I asked for same day service because I was headed out of town the next morning, and Juan and his team came through for me. Happy customer, here.

Never. Again. As it's on my way home, I decided to try Monro Muffler Brake in Newburgh. I brought my new classic in, for an oil change. While there, I pointed out that the last owner had an oil change from 2015.Several months(and not many miles) later, I was doing a general inspection, prior to garaging the car for the Winter. While under the hood, I saw that the 2015 oil filter was still on the car. I called and explained the situation; we scheduled an appointment to do the oil change right.Upon arriving at the garage, the manager, Ed, had about a million questions for me, all in the vein of, "you're full of it and just trying to get a free oil change." It seriously felt like a police interrogation. Ed told the mechanic to make sure he gets to see the oil filter in question, when the oil change is getting done. A million accusing questions and not once did he check to see how many miles the car had acquired since the last oil change. Having a daily driver, two classics and a motorcycle, it was not enough to warrant an oil change. After remaining polite throughout the interrogation and obvious lack of belief, the oil change was finished. I call it an oil change but, Ed seems to enjoy calling it a, "pump and dump." Come on, nobody wants to hear that kind of talk, Ed. Anyway, after I sign off on the paperwork, he tells me that the oil change isn't free but, he's being nice and taking off the price of the new filter. STILL asking me a million questions, repeating himself, raising his voice and interrupting me. "Why should this be free?!?" was his favorite line. "You make mistakes, I'm sure! We're all human." Yes, I make mistakes and when I do, I own up to them. "I don't even know for certain if that IS the same oil filter from before. People don't usually put dates on them."Ed started telling me everything he could find that might be wrong with the car, so I wouldn't think it happened while there and come back, expecting it to be fixed. I'm not a lowlife, Ed; I don't act like one, I don't talk like one and I don't dress like one so, why all the suspicion? I stood my ground and finally, while he was going on and on about why the oil change shouldn't be free, I told him that I want to pay him and leave. He continued speaking in an impatient, aggressive tone and wouldn't let me pay and leave. I repeated that I wanted to pay him and leave, several times, myself growing irate as he wouldn't let me do so. Finally, he finishes his latest tirade and tells me that the oil change is free. Apparently, he says the regional bosses give him a very hard time about making right by their mistakes. Blaming it on the bosses is pretty weak. Monro Muffler Brake in Poughkeepsie has NEVER given me any problems(see my review of their shop), which is why I thought I'd give this branch a try. Never. Again.

BE PREPARED TO SPEND TIME THERE.oil change with appointment - 2 hoursmade another appointment at 3pm mid week, arrived 10 min early and was told it would take at least two hours to look at the car. couldn't wait 2.5 hours for an inspection.made another appointment at 8:30 am so that I would be their first or second car. it took 2.5 hours for the inspection. They may do great work, I don't know because I only needed and oil change and inspection but they are extremely short on staff. I spent 6 hours of driving and waiting for an oil change and inspection.

I was nervous because I have had the same mechanic in Scarsdale for 15 years. My daughter went for an inspection and got a good vibe so I went for my inspection. They were great. I was concerned about my tires and my brakes they were thorough and communicative. They put me at ease and they did a great job. A+ I would recommend them highly.

Vacationing in the Hudson Valley, we went over the Newburgh-Beacon Bridge on a Saturday morning and picked up a screw in one of our tires. After changing the tire to our donut spare, we used Google Maps to locate tire repair places open. Luckily we found this Monro tire center open for walk-ins. The manager was most kind and said he would be able to fit us in later in the afternoon after his scheduled appointments. We had to wait about two hours to get the tire fixed but it was worth it. So far, the tire has held up to a couple of weeks of hard vacation driving and is still going strong just like the manager promised with the way they repaired it. I just wish this manager and store was in the area we live in as we would definitely use it for other auto repairs/tires. Can t say enough good about the manager and store. Would give 6 stars if I could. You don t often find places like this anymore.

My tire was losing air rapidly, after stopping at Firestone ( because they were closer) and then turned away I was greeted by a very friendly front desk by a gentlemen named Teo! He was the only one working but took my car in right away.. discovered the problem and put on a new tire!! Thank you so much for your help! It is much appreciated!

DO NOT GO HERE.If I could give this place zero stars I would.I went in to get my state inspection done since I just changed my license and registration from another state.I dealt with Edward Felix, the manager, but there was also the mechanic looking at my car5 minutes into the inspection the mechanic comes to the front and tells Ed that my Catalytic converter has a problem.Ed tells me that my Catalytic converter is ILLEGAL in New York because it's not CARB compliant and so I need to change it to pass emissions. He said that New York just changed its law.He says it would probably be $1500 to get it done but he'll check around to get pricing on parts. While he does that I call my reliable mechanic and ask about this. He says that it is very fishy that they would say that and he's never heard of that.Ed calls me up front again finally and says he called a couple places and he only found one place with the part. He now says it will be $4000 to get the work done but I have to get it done.He even has the nerve to mansplain to me in picture form the "work" they need to do.I say I would need to get the work done another day so I could get out. He tells me that's fine but they will Fail me on my emissions test this time. After I am able to leave with a failed inspection, I cal the DMV to confirm if I need to get this done.On recording, I have it confirmed that I DO NOT need this work done and the catalytic converter I have is legal and good since it is functioning properly. This horrible man tried to scam me out of $4000 for something I did not need done at all and he had the nerve knowing that, to fail me.And all of the workers there played along and went with it.I have reported this to the DMV

Great service! Courteous and friendly employees! Been using this shop for over 10 years. Always feel like the service performed was what was needed. Never felt pressured to buy any service not needed. Have experienced times when I expected major repairs but left with very minor service because I was not taken advantage of. Ed and Chris are awesome and exhibit genuine concern for my vehicles and the safety of me and anyone else riding in my cars. Hours are great and online appointment reservation is so easy to use also. I receive an email or personal call within a few hours confirming my requested appointment.

I have been with Monro Muffler for years and have always been treated with respect and never taken advantage of like some places. Ed has been my go to guy from the beginning and I have no bad experiences with the staff at all, they're all great!Service times are not very long and they communicate with you during the process of you being there. I absolutely love the customer service that I get from the crew at this location!

My husband and I have come here for years and we receive the same service from day 1. We are very pleased with the service we receive here. Ed, Chris and their team are awesome. Their knowledge of cars is unbelieveable. They aren't overly priced and don't try to empty your pockets. I recommend this shop to everyone.

Let me share my most positive experience will you. I went to Monroe Muffler yesterday to have an inspection. Upon pick up I was told I needed a repair. A day later I brought my car in expecting to leave it over night. I received a call less than two hours after dropping the vehicle off saying it was done. The entire atmosphere at the service station is nothing short of exceptional. From the very friendly gentleman at the desk to the quick and competent completion of my car. I would recommend this place very highly. My wife and I intend on going here for all of our automotive needs.

Too expensive! May as well go to a dealer! The price of an extra quart of oil has increased from $5 in 2021 to $11 in December 2022 - an increase of over 100%! Seems extremely high, even with inflation! And no coupon discounts anymore! Seems like they re gouging the customer!

I ve been servicing my cars with Monro Muffler in newburgh for almost 15 years. Ed Felix and his staff are always professional and polite. They always have the best interest in mind when it come to there customers and their repairs. Ed will always give reminders to certain up coming car repairs, but never push to do more than what is necessary at the time of your visit. Ed will always help his customers with possible discounts when he can, which is always appreciated!

I've been going to Monro Muffler Brake & Service for over a decade. Ed, the manager, is knowledgeable, professional and courteous. I've never had a poor experience bringing my vehicles to this location. Ed always gives me the repair price BEFORE any work is done. All the work is done right the first time. I see walk-ins all the time asking for an oil change or an inspection. Ed always tries to accommodate them, but this is a busy shop. Call first and make an appointment and you won't have any issues. Great shop!
