Can t say enough good about this place. My son goes to school at SUNY New Paltz and is 100 miles away from home and our mechanic. This is the second time we have used Main Street Auto but yesterday s visit was absolutely over the top unbelievable. All of a sudden every light in my son s car lit up. The check engine light, cruise control, and the anti skid light were all flashing. Not only did they take the time to diagnose the issue, instead of fixing it for him they told him he could fix it by going to Autozone and buying a new gas cap. They don t have to do that. They could have easily told him just about anything and charged him 100 s of dollars for something that cost $20. And to top it off they didn t even charge him to diagnose what was wrong! They didn t have to do that. They went over and above. I wouldn t hesitate to use them again and again!

Being our first visit to this establishment since we were due for an oil change (recommended by a friend), we were quite delighted at the friendliness & honesty of the mechanic who took care of our vehicle.The owner & his wife made us feel welcome even offering us a cup of coffee. Definitely a plus!We will be making Main Street Auto our place to go for future automotive work.Definitely a place we'd recommend.

As a young woman bringing my car to the garage by myself, I was worried because I felt I was a target for being ripped off. The mechanics and staff at Main Street Auto were all really nice to me, finished my inspection quickly, and were flexible to my appointment needs prior (they let me change my appointment time when I called earlier in the week, and then I ended up getting there a half hour early for the inspection and they took it right away and offered me a seat inside). I am really happy with my experience there. I will be using them again for any future auto needs and will recommend their services to my friends.

My first experience and they did a great job. I think you can tell a lot about a service station with the simple jobs they do like oil change and tire rotation. They had me come in this morning as soon as I could get there, they took my car right away and within about 30 minutes the oil was changed the tires were rotated and I answered all my questions. They were quick and efficient. I saw about three or four other customers come and go within that time and each one was taken care of quickly. Good job guys.

My car broke down on the New York Thruway yesterday. It totally died due to a bad alternator. My car was towed to the shop and they promptly fixed it and I was in and out in a couple hours. They are professional efficient friendly and I would highly recommend this shop to anybody.

Do not go here for any reason. They are complete scams and completely screwed me over. I took my car to be inspected (older car, just bought recently) and the owner treated me terribly. First he freaked out about how bad the alignment was and the tires needed to be replaced. He laughed in my face when I had no idea about the tires, because of the fact we bought the car a week ago. I told him to fix the alignment and replace the tires. Multiple times throughout the day waiting for him to fix the car, I confirmed multiple times that he fixed the alignment and replaced the tires. He said yes, but treated me horribly and was very disrespectful the entire time, so when I finally got my car I paid the couple hundred dollars and got out of there asap.Just 2 months later, got a flat tire on the car and I realized the front two tires are worn down to the metal, again. When I took it back, they claimed they never fixed the alignment and they never said they were going to. He is a liar and a scam and completely screwed me over and charged me 220 for brand new tires, apparently without fixing the alignment, which now I know he lied to me about, knowing this would happen and setting us up for a blowout, which happened.

Main Street Auto was recommended to me by two friends. I brought my 2003 Subaru to them for a full brake job. The car was ready to be picked up within 3 hours of dropping it off! I found the price to be reasonable and the technicians to be knowledgeable and friendly. I will definitely bring my other vehicles here!

Newman, who may have been the owner(?), was SO cool!! I got my first flat tire overnight and was so overwhelmed when I realized the culprit to my car shaking on the road. Thankfully, I was only half a mile from this shop and managed to drive myself there, as to avoid towing fees. This guy was so helpful, and despite not being the most expressively friendly person I ve met, he was so thoughtful and caring and fixed my broken right windshield wiper without charging me for it. I m immensely grateful for this place and I hope the customers are good to them. They saved my day! Also, they were way more affordable than I thought they would be!

We were visiting New Paltz for a day trip yesterday and had some difficulty with our car engine racing and overheating. An employee at the restaurant where we had a family get together recommended Main Street Auto, so we went there, were seen immediately. We did not have any work done (will do that back home) but the owner (I believe) was very generous with his time and gave us his analysis and some tips, enough to get us back on the road confidently and back home 100 miles away. We were grateful for the owner's expertise. I'd give 5 stars but our experience was pretty simple and brief, no work actually done.

I thought I heard a weird sound under my hood and they said I could come right in. They were clearly busy but a mechanic took it for a spin, put it on lifts to check the chassis, looked under the hood...found nothing wrong. The owner Ravi then personally took me for a drive to reassure me and explain what I was hearing. Didn't charge me a dime for their time/effort, or laugh at my paranoia! Highly recommended for their honesty and integrity. Thank you!

After calling at least 5 places they were the only ones that said yes to do my sons inspection. Quick and kept me updated since I waited. Thank you so much guys

Traveling south on Thruway to Suny New Paltz tire pressure sensor warning came on. Contacted Main Street they were able to expedite repair, they provided ride to college. Back on the road several hours later.Kudos.Service: TiresService: Tires

I contacted Main Street auto to set up an appointment to change out all 4 tires of my Jeep Grand Cherokee a couple weeks ago. I told them I wanted Good Year Eagle All Season tires. So I drop off the car and walk to a nearby shop to grab lunch. I come back and pay for the job and drive home. To my dismay a day later while im cleaning out the garage I took a closer look and notice they didn't give me Good Year tires, they installed "Good Ride" tires which turns out to be a horrible brand from China!!!! I immediately called a buddy of mine who told me to wait there and not even drive the car, he brought over a jack in his truck. After we lifted my jeep and took the tire off we looked inside to see it was loaded with FixaFlat!

This is probably one of the few places that you can trust that the job will be done correctly and you will not be taken advantage of. We have been bringing our vehicles here for many years and truly trust the owner. He is really a good and honest guy!!

Went for simple differential fluid change. Over filled the diffs even when I advised them otherwise. Also mysteriously one of my O2 sensors had a hammer mark and needed to be replaced right after visiting the shop....

They took my car after I had it towed to Tom's and repaired. Btw, if you need emergency services don't go to Tom's. They work by appt only and won't fit you in.

I've lived in New Paltz for 7 years and I have always taken our cars there. They are always polite, honest, and affordable. I can not recommend them highly enough.

Nice staff seemed honest and professional. I had them swap a leaky brake line, I asked them to swap both if they could. Failed again a couple of years later. Decided to do it myself. It was the same line they had replaced a small section coupled together with (illegal in NY?) compression fittings.....

BEWARE!!! DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE!!!!!! I wish i could give this place negative stars. Most dishonest/unprofessional people Ive ever dealt with. All they had to do was fix the U-joint in my Jeep. After ONE day, it broke off on the highway. When i asked about warranty, the all the mechanic said to me was "yesterday, I saw you driving up and down the road, I DID MY JOB". He charge me double for what mechanic would have at home. And didnt even do the job right! PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, DONT GIVE THIS TERRIBLE MECHANIC ANYMORE BUSINESS!!!

We showed up there without an appointment and no idea what was wrong with the car. The owner came out immediately and diagnosed it. They brought it inside the shop and put a new battery in and we were ready to go in 20 minutes.

Over the summer I got my battery replaced. Recently, I brought my car to a different mechanic and discovered that the battery wasn t in correctly. The whole apparatus was rusted and the battery wasn t secured to the engine. A mechanic who can t install a battery should be ashamed of themselves.

Called to schedule an appointment and I'm greeting with arguing in the background and a "who is this?". Who greets costumers over the phone like this?? What the heck?? I've never hung up a phone faster.

I was in town visiting, had a flat tire and Carlos was super helpful even past his work time. He changed my tire at no cost, just as a out of the goodness of his heart deed.

They have been maintaining my vehicles for 30 years. As their web page says. If it aint broke they won't suggest fixing it. They provide great value for the service.

We use them for Oil changes and annual inspections. They are pretty quick and friendly. Have not used them for any repairs, but I would give them a chance.

Called to ask a question, dude on the phone was super rude and obviously doesn t know how to deal with customers. Would avoid 100%.

I was in town for a couple weeks, these guys did my oil change in under an hour! It's walking distance from the center of town if you need to kill time.
