Horrible!! They were on a delay opening, opened at 11am. But then they will close down for an hour and 15 minutes for lunch. To reopen and tell me they will give me a number, but I might not get called bc I didn t have an appointment. And the phone lines no one answers. You get a recording telling you to go online. And hang up on you.

I recently took my road test here. It was an overall great experience! The test was taken at the exact time I scheduled and the instructor was great. He truly helped me out with the questions I had and did not make me feel anxious at all. I wish I remembered his name, the test was on Thursday and I believe his birthday was last weekend. This place has been nothing but good to me, super helpful when putting my car on the road as well.

Worst experience ever. Trying to change my last name and was refused service because the woman knew more than me . Was yelled at + berated for absolutely no reason. Unsure of the woman s name I was speaking with but I will never go back. I m appalled.

Public offices are notoriously difficult to navigate. The Monticello DMV has refined streamlined, quality service to an art form. From the online helps to ensure coming to the appointment with all of the requisite documentation to service delivery, this office nails it. I got in, was served, and got out *before* my scheduled appointment time and everyone I dealt with was unfailingly helpful and courteous.

I ve never had such a nice experience at a DMV before. They are so patient and NICE. Something not found at other DMVs usually the DMV employs rude, mean, lazy people. Not here. Felt comfortable and at ease and they showed respect and treated you as a person. Thank you for being so HUMAN.

took my road test here last week and had an amazing experience the examiner (#868) was extremely nice and made me feel very confident and comfortable passed me within 5 minutes. btw before i went to my road test i read the reviews and saw that someone wrote that if you are black or jewish you shouldn't go there as they are racist the FACT is that i am an ultra orthodox jew and did not have any problems there (probably he/she is talking about a different examiner) i also saw another review about not taking your road test on Wednesday mine was on a wednesday and it was a piece of cake so my advice would be study harder...

As others have mentioned, Erin, is horrible at her job. Rude, condescending, unhelpful. The list could go on. It took six weeks to get an appointment and we were driving in from two hours away so we called the same morning to make sure we had all the required documents. We were told to bring one debit card and one credit card. She claimed my debit card (that had the word debit written on it) was not a cash card because it can also be used as a credit card. If they are trying to verify my bank account has my name on it - that is clearly illogical. We called the number and they told us debit card. She responded terribly. When I explained we called before because we were driving two hours she claimed I could not live in Sullivan county - as if no one is ever allowed to leave their home county. I had a copy of my mortgage, my passport, my old drivers license and my car insurance. She offered no alternatives and was as unprofessional as I ve ever seen anyone. If you can avoid her please try.

The sheriff at the front desk was so nice and attentive. The Mexican lady at the DMV window was extremely rude. When asked for paperwork she was annoyed to give it to us. As if we were interrupting her playing on her cell phone. Very cold woman. Very rude.At least the officer was respectful and helpful. And Tina was AWESOME!! THANK YOU!!

I was there at 11:30AM on a Tuesday. The place was pretty full, but things moved quickly. The agent who waited on me could not have been nicer! It was a complicated transaction, but she was friendly and really knew her stuff. Pretty good experience, as far as DMV goes. People, you could do a lot worse!!!!

Its DMV. The staff is generally nice but they spend all day with people trying to cheat and lie to them and then yell at them when they cant help them so I'm not expecting Mary Poppins when I get to the window. They are generally VERY busy. Most of the customers drive up from NYC because its easier to go here then down there. They also do a large amount of dealer work. This also leads to problems because sometimes, an employee will work on dealer items at the window and never call a customer. Customers tend to get angry over this and tensions will rise.Their hours are 8-430 but there is only 1-2 women til 9 and they rotate for lunch for what seems like the whole day. Also, some of their transactions can only be done from 9-3 so you're going to want to call. If you're lucky, a big chunk of transactions can be done at the reception window without waiting much. She usually takes lunch from 2-3 though so then you're stuck. If you get REAL lucky, sometimes, there isn't a customer in there!

They made my visit a good one. The operation was a very smooth one from the time I walked in the door until I left everyone was very friendly and accommodating and knew what they were doing it was a pleasure to go into this motor vehicle department in Monticello.

I had an appointment today at 10 am and got there early to renew my Ny state id.I waited and when my number was called I went to window 7 but there was nobody there I asked the person at window 8 where the person was and she said to wait because she will take me.I went to window 8 and it took a long time for her to look at all my papers, gather them and make copies. She then told me to wait because it has to be approved by Albany so I waited and waited about an hour and then went back and asked her why was I not called and she said to wait until she checks with Albany. She then told me that Albany is too busy and that she here was only one person at the Albany DMV and I would have to come back either today or some other day.Gave her my phone number and left.

Another terrible experience. If you get the white haired woman (Examiner ID 828) for your road test, you re gonna be intimidated and uncomfortable by her inhuman personality, it makes a person really anxious when dealing with a robot. She failed my fiance for things she didn t do wrong, only other idiots on the road acting erratic causing issues. We had a hidden camera installed for this test and I reviewed the footage. The examiner is clearly a liar. She s a genuinely good driver, but this woman clearly had a bad day and took it out on her.

EXTREMELY Rude, cold, supervisor, Erin, at the Monticello DMV (don t know if that is how you spell her name) but she is the MOST disrespectful, unprofessional. Im a teacher, a nice person that doesn t throw attitude towards innocent people and ESPECIALLY towards ppl that don t deserve it; but the experience there was HORRIBLE and left me SHAKING! She was belittling, NOT helpful, and dismissive. It took months to get an appointment and when asking for help on next steps, she said that I already used 10 of your 15 minutes so you ll have to make another appointment I have never been more compelled to use the, vulgar and disrespectful term towards a fellow female but she has to be the BIGGEST C**t I have EVER dealt with , and I deal with the public, providing a service to children an adults and this is a women who, should NOT be dealing with the public.

I failed twice on the road test on Wednesdays with the same examiner(I think she is the only one examiner who works on Wednesday), all I want to say is don t pick monticello( or at least don t pick Wednesday LOL)just because you think the road test route is simple, because I think this examiner is more strict and picky, and yes, I have more experience Of road tests than most of people( I went to goshen, monticello, and I passed in Middletown), I will recommend Middletown if it s not too far for you, I do understand it s the examiners responsibility to make sure every student drivers are ready to drive on the road before let them pass, but it will destroy peoples confidence if fail too many times, sometimes we need a little tolerant chance, as I know I failed because I was too nervous sit next by these examiners I made stupid mistakes, even though now I got the drivers license I still practice with experienced drives to make sure I am ok to drive by myself in the future.

Was able to take my road test 45 minutes early and passed, which is the only reason why I am giving this review a second star. But my instructor was ABSOLUTELY awful. Rude and extremely nit picky. It felt as though he was purposefully making me nervous so I would fail my test. He yelled at me for pulling up my emergency break after parking, which is NOT illegal and how you are supposed to park. He 100% got off on being rude to me. Gave me a hard time at every turn and stop light/sign. Go somewhere else to take your test, TRUST ME!!!!!

The last two times I visited bthe DMV the place was literally empty. You can't blame the staff when there is a crowd. They can only work as fast as the situation allows. Some aren't the nicest but most are competent and they try to be accommodating. They don't write the regulations. Go to a city DMV office... Then you'll appreciate Monticello..

Some of the staff are nice...but then there are some that are just plain rude as per lunches they need to have schedules on that because when lunch comes around it seems they all leave just 1 or 2 people on and that is not fair to the customers that are waiting.. Sullivan county needs to get it together already .. it's supposed to be a community that works together all I see is mostly against each other ..step it up
