Purchased battery from Costco. Been going to Tilden for over 20 years. Now new owner Today was changed $47.50 + tax & credit card fee = over $53 .To install said battery. New owner doesn t like the idea me being my own parts. Since when is battery a part? And the shop does not sell batteries. Always gave Tilden 5 stars, until today.Service: BatteryService: Battery

Good mechanics and very skilled but will add extra cost like $30 Test Drive after a $60 tire rotation but they did figure out why it was pulling to the right. Also they charged $95 for 1 hour labor to diagnose brakes. It was for "removing parts" - I can remove a wheel and check brakes in less than 20 mins without the fancy equipment but they did figure out the wrong part was installed. What a rip though... Go elsewhere unless another mechanic can't figure it out... Heard they got a new owner... Guess he nickels and dimes... Not a fan.

The new owner of this mechanic is not straightforward.Mr Tilden the prior owner was a very skilled mechanic and straight forward. Unfortunately he has retired. The new owner is not straightforward. He will give you cost then he will call you to open more work in the car to replace parts and charge you 3x the cost he started with. Make sure to understand what the job need to be done and don t approve any extra work without written estimate before he start working on the car. Because he will open more work and will replace parts without your authorization and will keep the car in his possession until you pay. He replaced parts in my car that could have been just straightened up instead of replacement. He charged me cost of the parts replaced (400$) and another 300$ labor ended paying 1100 $ instead of 200$ that we began with.

These guys are straight forward and guarantee their work. The staff are all friendly and helpful and the mechanic's diagnosis and work are on point.

Owner changed. the price has increased a lot. Change two car license plates, total 10 mins charged me $120, it is even more expensive than oil change. My shop is just next street, but I don't think I'll ever get my car fixed here again.

I have been a loyal customer for almost 20 years. I had my car towed to Tilden 5 WEEKS AGO when my shifter broke. I was given a quote of $200. After 5 WEEKS and an assurance that the price would not go up I was given a bill of $500! When I reminded Tony of what was told to me I was given an excuse of the part being more expensive and that he was able to fix it because he wanted the car out. Basically doing me a favor. I have been without a car, walking to and from work for 5 WEEKS in the winter. 5 WEEKS of being told that the part I needed was not to be found or they were sent the wrong part or something . Everything except that it was going to cost me more than double what I was quoted. They have lost a very loyal customer and so many of my coworkers who were customers but having seen this and know the outcome have changedtheirminds. I had all my cars serviced here for many years with Bill. Bill retired. Doug is the new owner. My first experience is a screw up that cost me $500. Would never have happened with Bill. I am looking for a new garage, and I doubt that matters to Doug.

This business has changed owners recently. However, the new owner was trained by and worked with the former owner. Fortunately, he has continued the great tradition of very good service, honesty and fair pricing.

Bill and Chino run a good shop!I chose Tilden of Mineola due to the great reviews here and on Yelp and Tire rack(they are a recommended installer). Went there to have my winter tires put on and have the car aligned. Car runs straight and true! They even made sure to inspect the tires so they put them in the proper rotation with the tires that ran in front last season put in the rear for this one. Prices were very fair and competitive. Make sure to arrive early in the day if you want to wait for your car vs. dropping it off. They are first come first serve and they get busy quickly. I am very satisfied with the quality of the work here and will be a returning customer!

My best car service ever! Owner Bill is very friendly and professional. Tilden customer care goes extra mile for customers. I went there for tire installation with new Tire Rack tires and they checked other things like various fluids. This kind of service is rare these days unless customer asks first. Thank you!

Worse place i ever take my car overcharge me the owner has a ugly attitude my car started with another things after i bring it to this place, before has nothing so becareful people, and nope i do not recommend this place

I went in today to get a leak on my tire plugged. Was told $10 - $15 on the phone which was less than all the other places I called. Turned out the leak was bigger than expected and was told I needed a new tire. The shop does not have tires there but I believe it was Bill who told me he would try and look for an old tire anyway as I was waiting. He didn't have one so they ended up patching the leak instead so that I could get home ASAP.When I tried to pay, they didn't let me. Probably the kindest people out there! Worked extremely quick to find the leak and figure out a solution. Would recommend to anyone, they are the best!!Service: Tires

These guys are the best! They are walkable to the Mineola train station, and they are honest, reliable mechanics. Bill is great; he's helped me through some tricky car situations, and he does so with a refreshing honesty that isn't incredibly common any more. The pricing is more than fair, and they are fast but thorough. 5 STARS!

Honest shop- had my oil changed,breaks, water pump,timing belt, radiator, rear suspension. very very reasonable $$$.went back for checkups and the really made an effort to recheck my timing belt-Chino is super great mechanic. the patched my exhaust - no charge. love these GUYS. BECAUSE they are Honest shop...and LI can get fishy***

Excellent professional work. I took my E-450 bus in even though they dont always do buses, and they whipped my baby into shape with a new brake line in 2 days. Did not try to upcharge me at all. Highly, highly recommended. Thanks a lot Bill, I owe ya one!Edit - as a testament to this man's honesty, one of my brake lines in the same area sprung a leak so I brought it back to Bill. He not only repaired it quickly but tried to not charge me for it. On the strength of the honesty of this place alone I will always be bringing my whips here for servicing. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!

One of the better places on long island to bring your car to for repairs. Staff is friendly, accommodating and above all trustworthy. I have been a faithful client for over 15 years. Never had a complaint about their work. If your looking for a new shop to bring your car to then this is the place.

Excellent service. Very honest. I went here because of the great reviews, I drive a 2017 Grand Cherokee. Dealership said I needed everything. Turns out it was only rear pads. I will bring my other cars here for future repairs.

Took my car in for routine oil change and thought I would probably need brakes as well so I asked Bill to check. When I picked up my car Bill said brakes are good. So nice to be able to go to mechanic and not be oversold. Thank you Tilden!!

I moved to Philly 2 years ago and every time I go to a mechanic I wish it was Tilden. They were the absolute best! Honest, quick and treated me like they would want a mechanic to treat any woman in their own family. I worked around the corner from the shop and whenever they would see me walking around they would always wave. Sometimes I wonder if it would crazy for me to drive to Mineola to get my car serviced. I never write reviews but they deserve it!

I went there for my car's wheel alignment. Met this guy - Bill. He took his time to explain everything and did work at cheaper than anyone else. I would surely recommend Tilden. Looking forward to make this my permeant repair shop.

Honest and hard working - we have been taking our cars here for years - conveniently located by the train station in Mineola - you can drop the keys and leave your car for inspections and other maintenance as well as brakes. would highly recommend

Very honest guy he fix my 2006 Toyota 4Runner with good price.... he changed my rotors and brakes and never over price me and he told me what I need to replace soon with no charge this is gonna be my shop now 110% recommendation to everyone..... If you re looking for a mechanic with high skills and honest this is the one.....
