I recently visited Fred's Transmission World for a transmission issue and I couldn't be happier with the service I received. From start to finish, the experience was exceptional. The staff were not only professional but also incredibly friendly. They greeted me with a smile and made me feel welcome from the moment I walked in. They patiently listened to my concerns and answered all my questions, putting me at ease.The technicians were clearly experts in their field. They diagnosed the transmission problem accurately and provided me with a clear explanation of what needed to be done. Their knowledge and expertise gave me confidence that my vehicle was in good hands. Fred's Transmission World is an outstanding transmission shop that I highly recommend. Howard is the definition of customer service. Had a problem after the rebuilt transmission and he told me to bring it in and got it fixed in a timely manner. Truck is running great again. Thanks to Howard and Frankie.

I have a Negative review I would like to share. I had a transmission rebuilt at Fred's on the advice of my mechanic who steered me here as he does not work on transmissions. My car's transmission was rebuilt and warrantted for 2 years. At 2 years and 7 months and only 5,000 miles put on the transmission since rebuild the transmission Failed on me. The car would not engage gears, could Not go forward or in reverse.With this limited amount of low mileage city driving how does a transmission fail so terribly? The only conclusion I can come to is a poor rebuild in the first place. At this point past warrantee time period and car dead in the water I just Didn't even bother to call and talk to Howie. Why? so i'll be out a tow and my car held as collateral. If I'm able to post Negative stars I would, but I am unable to post unless I use a minimm of a single star review. In conclusion with abject disgust all I can say is Run Forrest, Run...

Very disappointed. They kept my truck way longer then promised. The owner tried to con me into a 5-6K rebuild on a perfect transmission that had a minor leak and needed a reseal. Price wasn't what was promised. Kicker - they returned it to me with a bent oil pan and a significant leak, Loose bolts on the crossmember, and failed to properly reconnect the speed sensor plug, resulting in a truck that wouldn't shift gears and left me stranded.After my experience I was told by a credible source that the owner howard is a "scam artist" who "will suck you dry". It lines up with my experience.

My transmission died on Ocean Parkway. I had it towed to a mechanic who then suggested Fred's. Howie at Fred's had it immediately towed to his shop. Later that day, he called me with the estimate and promised to do what he could on the price. He saved me over two thousand dollars. I was also supposed to be trading the car in for a new car before this happened. Howie advised me to sell the car on my own because they had offered very little for the trade in. I took that advice and found that I could get a lot more money. He was extremely helpful and informative as was the mechanic who worked on my car. I would definitely recommend this shop.

I bought a used Escalade turns out it had a transmission issue of some sort and light on dashboard brought it to the dealership Cadillac and they checked it and gave me an estimate for $7,700. Did not trust it. I then did some research locally found Fred's transmission they diagnose it for free told me what was wrong and fixed it for me for $3, 900 less than the dealership. Would give ten Stars if I could!

I never write reviews, especially negative ones as I understand the impact they have on small businesses, but with Fred's transmission, I had an absolutely horrible experience that I felt compelled to write this. I brought my '06 BMW 525xi for a transmission rebuild in Jan. '22. They kept the car for over a month with one excuse after the other as to why it took so long given they were specialists in the field. When I finally got the car back, it lasted about 6 months before I started getting the fault error codes again. I took it back to Howard in Jan. '23 (where it took another month to get back), and they replaced some more parts they found were faulty (why they were not done the first time was beyond me), but was told that should have addressed the issue. The second visit addressed the problem for about another 6 months. I now get the very same error codes I got before the rebuild, so I decided to take it to BMW to get a proper inspection done. They advised, and shown me, that the pan was never replaced and the drain plug was put in place with silicone resulting in leaks and hard error codes that require the pan and drain plug to be replaced. I get that these things happen with cars, but after spending soooo much money for a repair, and the time they held the car for on both occasions, you would think I would have a transmission that was fully repaired. I'm very sad to say choosing them for my BMW transmission repair was a huge mistake, and the excuses with every single interaction was beyond frustrating.Service: Transmission

I have a 2000 honda accord of which had transmission that was not properly functioning and after taking it to my regular mechanic he told me to get a new car. I was not able to afford getting a new car so I drove past Fred's transmission world gave them a call. I dropped my car off for them to rebuild my transmission they did the best job ever. Howard the owner a very respectful man and Kristy his receptionist fantastic customer service. Howard got me back in my car and she rides better than ever. Honest and friendly. After examining my car the owner Howard said he d love to do the work, it s a big job, but it s under warranty and I shouldn t pay a thing. This is after Nissan told me that I wasn t covered. Howard then called Nissan on my behalf to discuss how the issue with the car is under warranty, Nissan made the necessary repairs. He saved me a lot of money and I appreciate his honesty. I would highly recommend his shop. Trust is a good feeling when doing business with someone.Thanks again.

If you want to get conned please visit this shop. I don t want to wish this horrible experience that I had with Howard to anyone. He sounds so nice on the phone and in person until he gets your deposit. Then you get owned. I asked him when I brought my car what s the worst case scenario to fix my transmission. After checking it out, He said maximum $1200. I agreed and gave him $600 deposit that he wanted. After couple of days he calls me back and tells that he has some bad news for me.Apparently my car needs another part that he didn t include in his worst case scenario of $1200. He told me it would cost me to fix my transmission $2100 now. To which I replied, I m coming to pick my vehicle up. He said to me that in that case I ll lose my deposit of $600.Please stay away from this con artist!!!!Service: Transmission

Howie and his team of mechanics at Fred s transmission world are the best in the business. The minute that I stepped foot into his facility I felt comfortable and confident that the repairs will be made probably. Howie and his team treat everyone as if they are family and always do the right thing. My truck runs better than ever and I can t thank them enough . There prices are fair and affordable and I would recommend Fred s transmission world to anyone in need of transmission repair or rebuilding .

I am a customer for life at this shop as of a few years ago. All of my cars, all of my customers cars, all of my friends. They all go to Howard and his great wife and team at this lovely location. I've had multiple vehicles of my own done by Howard and have never been disappointed by his work, friendliness, and do right attitude. My latest car (07 Dodge charger) decided to eat it's transmission. Brought it to him and he had it fully rebuilt in under a week ready to go. I had an unforseen problem afterwards with it (Totally unrelated to his wonderful work) and he got that fixed for me right away. Truly appreciate this guy and his team, will never go to another shop for anything again. Seriously, go to this guy, he's the best.

I bought a 2007 VW Passat at a very good price a couple of months ago. About a month ago the transmission started slipping - now I know why I got such a good price on it. So I researched transmission repair shops online and settled on Fred's. And I'm glad I did. He kept the car about a week and replaced the entire transmission, charging me less than half what a VW dealer would have. I've been driving it about a week now and it's as smooth as silk. I'd recommend Fred's in a heartbeat. Oh, and BTW, I don't know Howard (not personally, anyway) or work for Fred's and have not been paid for this review. This is an honest and truthful review from a satisfied customer.

I have 2001 Honda CR-V Fred s transmission did my rebuild on my car. Amazing job,5stars! I would highly recommend this shop to anyone! Howard and Roe are Simply the best.

Howard is the heart and soul; someone who cares about his customers and goes the extra mile. Not only was quality work done, on time and within price expectations, it was done with a smile and with genuine care.I had my 2003 Honda Accord in for service and I couldn't be happier having dealt with Howard and the crew at Fred's. All of my expectations were met, between phone calls and follow-up checks. It was a great experience when I anticipated a struggle in having a transmission repaired. I hope all my mech visits are like this one!

My Nissan Quest was shaking and vibrating so my wife took it to a garage and while the technician was checking, it made loud bang and gears stopped working, We were told Transmission is shot.So I called couple of transmission shops and after talking Howard@FredTransmissionWorld decided to go with them.Howard sent a tow truck and picked up my Van, they rebuild my transmission which took 4 business days since it required some more work, I picked the Van and transmission is smooth.I never thought I will use my Van again but FredTransmissionWorld did a great job!! We had agreed on a fixed price and they honored the price without any questions.I was advised to get it checked in a week which I did and Howard test drove it, I am very happy with overall experience.Highly recommend FredTransmissionWorld!!!

When I needed a new transmission, Howard didn't close the shop. He waited for me to diagnose the issue and had me leave my car in his good handsThe mechanics were super and the car ran efficiently and smoothly. I have never dealt with such an honest and reliable mechanic. If you need transmission work, this is your shop. Howard took the time to test drive my car several times after the work was completed because he saw that I had a young family and he wanted to make sure we were all safe.Stand up guy.This is how all businesses should run.

If i could give 6 stars I would. First of all Howard the owner is a nice guy who lives by his word. He originally quoted me $1900 and when I told him money was tight he offered to help me out for $1750 for the full job. After they took apart my transmission they found out that there was more wrong than he originally thought. He said the price to fix would have been raised to $2700 but he guaranteed $1750 and that is what I paid. A few days later a leak happened and I brought it back to him. No questions he took my car up on the lift and gave me a ride home. Hour later he called me back saying the leak had nothing to do with the transmission but fixed it for me regardless with no charge. With that being said I would definitely recommend this shop to anybody. Thanks Howie !!!

Howie is the owner and was patient in explaining my issue with my transmission and the options I had. He gave me a detailed inventory of what he would do and the time span in which the work would be done. He was easy to relate to and his down to earth mannerism put me at ease . His wife was also very accommodating and explaining the warranty and when to have the car rechecked. A pleasure working with someone who is honest, confident and knows his work, like people from the olden days, true to their profession. Thanks Howie

Just got my 2006 Nissan Altima 3.5SE V6 back from Fred's. What an awesome job on my transmission. Howie & his wife are the best. They explained to me all the costs involved & in fact it was lower than the budget they told me because they didn't need to replace a few parts as mentioned earlier. On top of that they even replaced a spark plug & coil that was causing misfire at no cost. Honesty is the best way to do business right. I will recommend Fred's to all. Thank you guys.

I don't know where to begin. Howard & Roe, they are sweethearts, I've made new friends.I was skeptical at first to take my Benz to a transmission shop other than the dealer but Howard being so patient & listened to my problem unlike any other car shop who would ask you to come & charge you for a diagnosis. Howard's a veteran in this business & know how to run his show. I was convinced & I took my car to Fred's. They spent almost 2 hours with me with the test drive, diagnosis & explaining me the problems I might have & gave me a couple of different solutions. I was convinced & came back end of the week & dropped it off. There were other aspects to the transmission other than just the actual transmission that needed to be fixed, Howard fought tooth & nail to get me the best prices on all the OEM parts I needed. At the end of the week, I took the car delivery. As he promised, the car drove like out of the showroom. It took its course to break in the new parts & get re-adjusted & re-aquatinted with the cars electronic modules.Today I'm happy to have Howard & Roe as friends. I happen to own a Burger Bar in Rockville Centre & it's always a treat to see my friends come for dinner & drinks.Did I mention to you that they also provide 2 days of free rental, so your on your way to work right away. Also, he followed up on how it was driving almost every other day just to make sure everything's ok.I love you guys. Best car repair experience I've ever had.I will hands down recommend Fred's Transmission World with my eyes shut.

Howie and his crew at Fred s Transmission World are top notch and have the clients best interest in mind, they are not looking to make a quick buck off people who are not mechanically inclined. It s very reassuring knowing I can go to them without any fear of being taking advantage of. I would recommend them to anyone, they have worked in two of my cars.

I have a c300 2013. I experienced having no reverse in my car. I brought it over to the dealership and was quoted an exorbitant price. A friend who had his car fixed at fred's transmission world, referred me. Howard checked my car for free and the dealership wanted to charge me way to much money. He promised he would save me money, which he did. My car now drives like a brand new car and he got the car back to me quick. If I could give him 6 stars I would.

I brought my 2000 Toyota 4 runner to Howie at Freds transmission world in Massapequa. ....He was very knowledgeable and friendly..He did a great job explaining what had to be done and pointed out a few other issues with my truck. I am a business man myself and would recommend Howie and his staff to anyone. He takes the time and shows you his concern with making you happy. He goes the extra mile. Thanks again Howie!!...
