Midtown's been looking after my old ride for a while now, and they've always been straight-up honest and careful with it. Like the time my car flunked the inspection over some small thing, they just gave me the lowdown, no extra charge or funny business. Their crew, especially Mike, is top-notch, always ready to spot a problem without pushing you to get it fixed right then. They've done a bunch of work on my car from fixing the rear AC blower to painting the bumper and they always treat me right. If you hang around as a regular, they might even cut you a deal on the service. Trust me, these guys are the real deal.

I went in for an inspection and they told me that I needed more than $2000 in repairs (including 4 new tires) before they would pass. I left (paid $85) and had it inspected upstate at my regular mechanic, who said I didn't need to make any of the repairs they recommended.

If you need to get a NY State inspection done on your car, look no further than here. After calling and visiting a few other "inspection stations," I decided to bring my vehicle here. While the facilities may not be visually appealing or have a posh customer waiting area, the service was excellent, and the price was transparent. I met the owners, Michael and Leon, and they were very professional and personable. The rate for an inspection is $35/$37 (which is dictated by The NY State), so don't believe other shops if they give you a higher price. Definitely recommended and now I know where I will take all our cars when they need a NY State inspection.

Tragic. Please do not waste your money at this spot. They took my car in for a repair just for them not to find the actual issue. My car was having issues as I drove away from the repair shop. I brought my car back the very next day and was told that my car service was under warranty since they did not fix the issue - THEY LIED. When I went to go pick up the car they told me that I owed them over $500. I could not get my car until I paid this fee. My car still is not working properly. Please, please please DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE. I wish I could give them no stars...

These guys are great! The underbody cover partially fell off my BMW while I was in town visiting. They got me in and out in less than an hour. Super friendly, great prices, clean shop.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Sent my car in for an insurance claim after a minor fender bender since it was open 24 hrs and I had no other choice. When I brought it in, they never said it was totaled . Initial guy told me it was a quick fix (one week) and no more than $6k (original quote they sent to my insurance company). Ended up taking them 3 months and $12k to finish. They blame the insurance company for everything but I literally use AAA one of the biggest insurance providers LOL. All the repairs I chose not to do, the insurance adjuster said had nothing to do with the accident and were all because of how incompetent the mechanics here are. Literally frauds here that ll ruin your insurance premium.TERRIBLE COMMUNICATION. They said the car was ready multiple times and every time I went to pick it up they gave me some excuse. They blamed EVERYONE except taking accountability. Blamed my insurance company, blamed the BMW dealership, blamed me but it was never their fault. When it was finally ready after 2 MONTHS they didn t even fully fix it, I had to bring it back multiple time. They actually broke a head light on the OPPOSITE side of where repairs were being done and didn t take accountability. The guy just said I don t know how it broke, we didn t touch it but it just broke . They ruined my BMW, the car feels awful now with repair lights constantly coming on.4 months later I m still paying other mechanics to fix the issues they caused. If the owner thinks this is fake any customer can reach out and I ll send them my receipt. To be fair, some of the guys are actually nice in the shop but it s a high stakes game on if you get them or you don t see your car for 2 months.

I came for the NYS inspection. The technician detected worned out rear brake pads. New pads were ordered and immediately installed. The entire visit lasted just 2 hours. They were courteous, efficient and the price was reasonable. The only thing that needs improvement is the waiting area, which is hardly can be called a such. But to me it is a minor thing and overall I am very satisfied with the service. I will certainly use their service if I will need one.Service: Brake service & repair

Such disorganization and disarray. This place feels like a makeshift auto body repair store where they let random mechanics and random managers work for renting out a lift. Simply terrible service, shoddy work, and requires a ton of time waste.

I had a good experience while having my car inspection at this location- they were very friendly and accommodating- so when I had a mechanical problem I brought my car to them - although the engine light was not on they came up with a code - the car was hesitating so I allowed them toproceed and repair it - almost $500.00 later I needed to bring the car back a second time and again it was not repaired - they even smeared grease on my front fender soI would notice both times I picked it up - (an old trick) -I decided to bring my car to another location in Brooklyn- after an extensive attempt including hooking up a machine to test the pressure on my fuel pump and test driving it not once but twice -the owner himself advised that he could not find anything wrong - so he gave me a catalytic converter cleaner and advised me to put premium gas in the tank- after several treatments with a catalytic converter cleaner and premium gas - my car has been running excellent- oh and he did not charge me

This is a great garage run by good professional fair people with skilled dedicated patient mechanics and fair prices. Ruby wasthe manager when we arrived. I had no idea places like this existed in Manhattan. When our car had problems in rush hour as we left town for Maryland (on our way to get our kids and go to Family member funeral in Pennsylvania), I felt like I was having a nightmare as I pushed the car to the side of the road with 5 million people honking behind me. I urgently searched for a garage and found them nearby with lots of great reviews. They came and picked it up minutes later, worked on it through the night, and got us on our way at 3:30a. I never could have imagined feeling comfortable camping out much of the night with my wife in a garage in Hell s Kitchen waiting for auto work to be done but the staff was incredibly cheerful and friendly and they made the experience so much better than it could have been. And when things get complicated, as they often do with cars, the garage staff deals with you fairly making us feel comfortable with a negotiated amount of additional charges for an additional part we hadn't originally discussed but which they explained was necessary and even lending us a car so we could dash to New Jersey before a store closed to pick up yet another small inexpensive but crucially important part they only realized we needed as they were handing us the keys and then installing this small part (with what turned out to be great effort through the night due to a complication) for no additional charge. They insisted it be done for our own safety, even though the car was running and they could have easily gotten rid of us and left us to whatever fate on our ride home. The only conclusion I could come to in dealing with them is that they really care about what they do and they care about their customers. Thank you to the team at Midtown for taking care of us. The car runs perfectly. We made it home to get our son that morning. And we made it to the funeral in Pennsylvania that afternoon. Couldn t have done it without you. We recommend you to everyone we meet.

We brought our car in for inspection, and they spotted a leak that they said required a new radiator. We paid them more than $1000 to install the radiator. After that the leak was much worse than before. We later learned that the car had another problem, which they had not spotted. We finally sold the car and got a new one.

Towed in because car was overheated and started leaking. Late at night. Brought it in. They said they knew what the problem was they didn t. We spent a ton of money to be ripped off. Took the car they said we had warranty. Car malfunctioned again after spending over $1000 for them to tell us we needed new engine which was bs. They refused to show how they knew that and refused to even turn the car on to show us how it still wasn t working. So they could point to us where the problem was coming from. They re a rip off and there to make money ruining your car. We managed to get the car out before they did anymore damage.

This was my best experience at a mechanics shop: they were very accommodating, experienced and skilled. Got the job analysis and correction of issue completed amazingly fast. The bill was surprisingly low for midtown aswell. Thanks so much for emergency help. The chief mechanic and owner is truly an angel.

This place charges 50-200 dollars more per part than other mechanics in midtown. Their main intentions aren't to help you fix your car and ensure you can get home safely, but instead to rip you off as much as possible for relying on them. We all understand the importance to make some profit for one's hard work and effort, but to double or triple the amount of profit other mechanics charge demonstrates just how much of a shark this place is. I'd recommend staying clear of this place unless you have too much money you simply don't care when people rip you off.P.S. I'd go down the block to S. N. R. Auto repair who will charge you more reasonable prices. Still expensive for midtown, but if you're in an emergency, they are a better and safer bet. Simply call and compare the prices and I'm sure you'll see what I mean!As you can see from many of the other reviews, this mechanic chalks up all the negative reviews to "fake review" or "fake accounts," similar to the one who calls everything "fake news." This demonstrates the kind of work ethics they have, where instead of trying to do better and improve, they blame others for shedding light to their expensive services. Please be diligent when looking for a mechanic and compare prices before you settle with whoever you choose to settle with. Maybe this will motivate them to stop ripping people off and be more honest in their business, but given their response of not taking responsibility, that's highly unlikely unfortunately.If you decide to go there nonetheless, best of luck to you and I hope your car will be okay (:Thanks for reading and good luck!

If you want your car original parts to be replaced with after market part . And many part be stolen . Then come to this store and also I change my engine I I done with the manager . He gave me fix price $2500 . A day after I came to pick up my care . They extended my bill $3200 . This is not a mechanic shop . This is place for Robbery plz save your money and your care

Can in the last minute for an inspection on a Sat afternoon. In and out in 15 minutes and no hassles. Probably helps that my car is fairly new and has low mileage but this was a quick and easy experience. See you guys next year!

Do not use this place. They charge double. We had just a simple problem. They charged $2200 and the car wasn t fix at all. After you paid they don t wanna talk to you anymore. You paid and you have to fix the car somewhere else with additional repairs. Totally unprofessional service.

I did a simple oil change and they didn t close my oil filter correctly until my car leaked out all the oil and did not refund me or call back . Wouldn t not recommend these people

Somehow both of my headlights went out at the same time as I was leaving town for a work trip. Since it was late, I was searching for a 24 hour garage and after a few attempts found Midtown. They helped me as soon as I arrived and even explained how to change headlights and tell if the bulbs are out upon request. Very professional and speedy. I really appreciate them squeezing me in and being patient with my limited car knowledge as a new car owner. I wouldn t have made it to my work trip otherwise! Thank you, Essa!

Avoid. They fixed everything and forgot to perform the inspection, for which reason I d originally brought the car in!! When I went back with two summonses for missing inspection stickers, the owner ordered the car inspected for free, then tried to bargain with me come back for repair and I ll give you the amount as a discount. I insisted he pay the fines, so he copied the violations and assured me he would. When I came back 2 weeks later he told me to get the *%#* out of here. Do. Not. Trust. These. People. With. Your. Business. For. A. Second.This is a follow up. This was NOT a fake review. YES an alias; these guys are vicious.I don t want them coming after me.To be fully transparent, I know from speaking to other customers that they do great work and they do it for a VERY reasonable price. But for them to make an error probably an honest mistake that cost me in violations and NOT TO MAKE IT RIGHT with me, after promising to do so, means you re taking a huge risk with this place.I wrote the above review after I returned a second time to demand the owner follow up on his promise to speak to the mechanic who made the mistake. He had not spoken to this mechanic, and he had not gotten back to me. I had to call and speak to the mechanic directly, a week after the mechanic had returned from a trip, and he had no idea of the issue. When I decided to go in, admittedly FUMING at the deception and demanding he give me the measly 150.00 for the violations, the owner told me to get lost, called me a low life, and spat on me. So, yeah, great work, but be careful if they make an error. They take zero accountability.

This shop tried to scam me by refusing to pass my state vehicle inspection unless I purchased new tires from them. They said the tires were bare on the inside. I couldn't tell but it seemed fishy so I left. The next week I took the car to Pep Boys who passed the the car, said the tires were fine and said if anything my brake pads were a little low but not enough to warrant failing the state inspection. This is exactly why state inspections should not be provided by repair shops. Anyway, DO NOT go here.

These people are crooks. They charged $200 to install a tire and took and hour trying to figure it out. They didn't know how to install the tire and dented my new rim. ZERO starsService: TiresService: Tires

I took my truck here (needed collision repair) on a whim after a Google search and phone call. Leon was my contact and he let me bring my truck in the same day. Super nice and professional guy who made the process much easier and had my best interests in mind. The truck was fully repaired in only 4 days or so, and they even gave it a wash for me twice since I was late picking it up.5/5 service, would highly recommend. I called to ask if they had any used BMW tires , the person who answered the phone said no and hung up without asking if I was interested in brand new ones (which I was) I called back and told him he hung up on me and he asked if I was interested in anything else I said yes I would like to know the price of new ones he gave me the price and I hung up on him without responding to show him how rude it was to do that. Will never bring my service there smh so disrespectful.

Surprisingly good service! While it is a garage and it is not as esthetically appealing as some shops, the service was great. The manager Michael was very professional, honest and set clear and realistic expectations when I had dropped the car off, after being towed. Was very happy with my overall experience and turnaround time for the repair.
