All parking lots were full shortly after 6AM on a Saturday. I had to park over a mile away and walk back to the trailhead. I haven't had any reason to use the information center.

It is a great starting point to many of the wonderful mountains of the Adirondacks.

Hike up to Wright, Algonquin and Iroquois peaks. Cold day lots of ice, microspikes worked well all day. About a foot of snow blown in between Algonquin and Iroquois. Love the Daks anytime.

Cool place. Nice to use the restroom in after a long hike. Has a store, but it's overpriced, so it's good for browsing for a bit before you leave. You can get maps and stuff there, which is nice, too. Also, books on hiking the Adirondacks as well as stuff you might need on the trail.

On my Avalanche Lake hike on June 25th, my friend and I stopped in the info center to see if we needed anything. There was a young lady there that was EXTREMELY helpful and showed us on their big map they had best routes and options. Thanks to her we stayed on course and had a great hike!Friendliness is a must for a place like that, and they nailed it! Thank you from all the way back in Maryland!! :)

Great place to get any type of information you could possibly need for a hike in the High Peaks. They will give you trail recommendations, recent trail conditions, lengths of trails, and daily weather conditions which is key. They also have trail maps, hiking equipment, clothes, hiking snacks and drinks for sale. If you are camping overnight in the Adirondacks a bear canister is required and you can rent one from them.

A lovely place to come down from or prepare for the exalted mountain madness, nice little food joint, clean water and terlets, very helpful staff and no judgement on how dirty and bizarre you seem after a few days sleepin on the ground and eating trail taters, freeze dried curry, and go go juice

Helpful and friendly staff here help to make any adventure in the High Peaks smooth and enjoyable. In the winter, you can rent snowshoes at about $15 a pair if you don t have your own. There s also a 24 hour heated, clean bathroom outside of the info center if you need a place to warm up or relieve yourself when the center is closed. The gift shop also has a selection of trail snacks, memorabilia, and useful gear (including snowshoes, finger warmers, etc.) for purchase. I recommend stopping by for suggestions and to support the AMC s great work. Pro tip, weekend parking is discounted to $7 after 1pm. Otherwise, parking is $15

They have free WiFi and a few outlets if you need to charge anything. Service is great and the staff is more than willing to answer any questions or give suggestions on paths/trails to take.
