Best farm around Albany for picking and family fun. We often go here for Peas, cherries, berries, apples and veggies. Its always fun and they have ample of them throughout the season.Friendly staff and the store sells their own ice cream, cider donuts and drinks. Kids love this place.

Our favorite pick-your-own spot in the region, by far. The prices are great, the selection of fruits and vegetables available at any point is always excellent, and the planning & layout of the PYO areas ensures it's never too crowded. Make sure to check out the plots farthest from the entrance if you find that the closest areas are over-picked.

A local gem in Kinderhook! Samascott s Orchard continues to be an amazing experience to pick your own food! The crops are high quality, the fields and roadways are well maintained and accessible and the staff is always respectful and kind. The admission fee is per person and you can drive your vehicle into the orchard so you aren t carrying pounds of produce all the way back to check out. They provide a map of what s available to pick with prices for the day and you can bring your own container or purchase them on site. When you check out they will inspect your car to confirm no produce has been stolen (sadly people steal from family owned businesses which is just awful). You can also rent a surrey bicycle to ride into the fields to pick for an hour for a fee. The farm stand when you check in/out has produce, ice cream and a really knowledgeable staff to help you with any questions. All around Samascotts is a local pillar, a true working farm, a wonderful experience for kids and adults of all ages.

This place was beautiful, affordable, and welcoming. There was a plethora of strawberries, blueberries, and tomatoes for us to pick. The staff was helpful and friendly. The fruit is absolutely delicious. We had several fields all to ourselves. It was so peaceful and lovely. We had a wonderful time and can t wait to come back! Thank you!

An amazing Orchard and farm. They charge for pick your own but it's well worth it. They offer pick your own strawberries, every vegetable you can think of, cherries, peaches, pears, every kind of berry, grapes and of course apples. The variety of pick your own options throughout the season is enormous and is too vast to mention it all. We love that you can drive very close too each picking area on this farm, cuts down on the long walks. Prices are ok, not as cheap as the grocery store but there's really no comparison. The quality and freshness of what you get at this farm is outstanding. We love this farm and visit often throughout the season.

Every time we visit, it is full of excitement. This was my second visit, we had cherry and blueberries in full blossom. Kids lives to run around and play. Best farm I have ever visited. The ice cream after check out was super delicious. The only negative part is the entry fee. It could be adjusted to the price of the picks, that would have been great. Otherwise it was a great experience.

We paid $10/person for the Cider Event today, and still don't know what we were paying for. In the event venue, there were just 2 or 3 food trucks, a Nine Pin booth, a live band, and their own food booth, other than this there is nothing special. Speak to the apple farm, many of the apples on trees were over matured or rotten, and some of the trees even did not have any apple left. Really had a difficult time to pick some good-quality apples. My suggestion to the farm owner is that if you have no good apples to offer to the visitors, then you should not charge the entry fee sine the Cider Event was not fun at all. When we were leaving from the farm and ready to pay, the staff asked us open all the car doors and truck. Did not feel they are rude, but did feel uncomfortable when they asked to do so.Really felt upset, this place used to be a good place several years ago, and we had a great time. I paid $10 for entering this apple farm, but I did not buy any apple, I bought some sadness instead.

Went today to bring the family. Expected it to cost $40 to get in (8x$5). Today was Ciderfest no option but to pay $10 per person. So we paid an extra $5 per person and expected to get at least a cider tasting and all it included was the opportunity to spend more money for the vendors they brought in. Definitely disappointed in a place that is usually great.

I had to give them 1 star in order to write a review, if it were up to me there would be none. Went there for a nine pin event with apple picking, paid $10 a person to get in. We were given no instructions when we got there including the directions so we were driving around the orchard lost. Then at the end we had some apples in our reusable bags, they asked if we had any pumpkins in our car we said no, they checked our trunk and then accused of stealing apples. We were trying to explain to him how there was a mix up (due to the poor communication/directions on their end) and instead of being a reasonable human being he argued and cursed at us with my two year old present. So we him told them we don t want the apples and he said we had to pay or he s calling 911 and then he charged us $80 for less than 2lbs of apples. He also failed to mention how much it was going to be before charging the card. We proceeded to call management and they were rude as well whatever he charged you is right is all they had to say. I will NEVER be returning there, the options for apples weren t good to begin with and the workers are rude as hell.Recommendations for other apple farms that I ve personally been to:Indian ladderBoehm s farmStantons feura farm

Great place to pick your own and great variety. Adrian Nimat your have to read the posts to see how many people steal from the Orchard. $5 is peanuts compared to other places and does not come close to cover the loss. It's a sad truth, but it happens in many many Farms that have Pick Your Own.

The staff at the farm was unbelievably rude and their communication was so unprofessional and unclear. It's really disappointing when you encounter such poor service. I hope they can improve their attitude and communication skills. God bless ay ay ay. Enough complaining, a truly family oriented, with friendly staff, and kid friendly environment that I would recommend would be Indian Ladder farms.

Don't go there unless you want to overpay for produce ($5/person just to get in) and get humiliated at the end when they search your car like they're looking for drugs with total disregard for vehicle occupants. The searching employees are extremely rude.Samascott owner, if you are listening, 99% of the people that visit your farm are honest. The amount of business you lose every season by humiliating your honest customers will far exceed your loss from theft. People that leave your farm with a bitter taste in their mouths will never return, even if you make the right changes. Other farms in the area will take this opportunity to earn their repeat business. It's as simple as that. My family and I will never visit your farm again.

Purchased this lovely, almost life-sized lawn ornament today no, I didn t need it, but it had to cone home with me!. Whether fruits, veggies, baked goods, houseplants, prennials, flowerpots, ice cream, and so on, everything these good people sell is of superior quality. Plus, everyone is kind and nice! Glad to live close by, but truly worth the trip.

Less busy than the other guys (easier access and friendly service) in the heart of quaint Kinderhook. Would be 5 stars but out of cider donuts hours before close time.

We had a blast fruit picking here! They give you maps with fruit locations and prices are listed by weight. Great apple cider sold in the store! We had a picnic lunch on the tables there too.

The people there are so nice & the produce are good. This review is for the no sugar apple muffin ONLY. It was the worse muffin I have ever had in my life. It was so dry. I know it's sugar free but there are other things that can be put in it to give it some sweetness. The ingredients say applesauce it's not enough. I won't be buying that again. But will buy other things from the market.

$10 per person to get in and then employees demanding to search your vehicle prior to leaving. I flat-out refused and they told me I am not welcome back... don't worry about that Samascott!

This is one of my favorite orchards and I come many times throughout the summer. But this past year or so it feels like their hired workers are very aggressive and the fields are getting over picked extremely quickly. On several occasions this year while picking, my family and I found ourselves nearly face to face with their workers picking right next to us as we were clearly working on an area. I totally understand how hard it is to run a farm of this scale and that they probably need the produce to sell at farmers markets, and I have deep respect for farm workers. I totally get it, BUT it does make the U-pick experience less enjoyable. Especially when you re trying to pick in bulk and when you need to spend/pick a certain amount to make back your entrance fee. It also seems that their schedule for what was ready and what was not this year was way off. Fields that are clearly ready are displayed as not ripe, while others that have been nearly completely picked through are displayed as good picking. I m not trying to rag on a local businesses because I really do love this orchard, maybe the crops weren t as strong this year or they didn t have sufficient help to check their fields regularly. But this was definitely a disappointment this year and we turned to some other local U-picks for some of our fruits. Still worth a stop and 3 stars, but this year hasn t been the five star experience of the past. They have a huge selection and delicious fruit, and I don t mind the car checks at all. I don t even mind the fee when it s actually possible to make the fee back.

What a nice way to spend an Autumn day. We did the pumpkin patch and picked just about every type of their large selection of apples. And the covid safety protocols were easily followed, because it so large and spread out.

Very unwelcoming attitude of staff. They inspected car for check if we hide anything and the guy is so rude he even open my baby diaper bag. I don t recommend anyone to go. Very disrespectful attitude. They charge entry fees and didn t give any basket . When we ask for baskets they charge extra.15cent for each basket. Price is very high for everything. Specially now is season for all. I have been visited many more farms in Albany such as Bowman Orchard, Indian Ladder farms, lake view farms and few others. People who like to visit farms for fun I would not recommend anyone to go this place because you will feel terrific by their hostile service.
