I always wanted to stay here, it's abeautiful inn with a beautiful view unfortunately there was 3 flights of stairs I didn't know about, my spouse has bad knees so it was incredibly painful for her consequently we didn't leave until the next day that we left. I'm very surprised there wasn't an elevator in a place that is 4 stores high. It never said anything on the website either. I won't go back unless that changes.

We stayed in room 800, it was fantastic! Modern amenities with a log cabin feel. The staff is friendly and very helpful even during the fall which is off season.Rooms: Wi-Fi, smart tv, medium refrigerator, microwave, nice bathroom.

What a very cute and tranquil place to stay. I love the historic character and the lake being right in the back yard. I'd stay here again.P.s. hot is cold and cold is hot for the shower, and the door didn't latch without the deadbolt. Eh, who cares... That's what makes it the Adirondacks, the imperfections.

This is my first ever review of anything.here it goes Banned for Life We gave it one star because zero isn t an option! We booked a midweek 2 night stay for some R&R but had to reschedule due to Covid in the family! When I called to reschedule, the owner asked for a photo of the positive Covid test, (never heard of such a thing ) and obliged our request after an additional $40 change fee. However we did reschedule for a later date and upon arrival we headed up the steps to our room on the fourth floor ( no elevator, or anyone to help with our bags )we walked past a dirty mop, bucket & vacuum to settle in after a 6 hour drive. We immediately noticed a musty odor, black mold near the upper molding and a dead spider on the bathroom sink.We understand this is an old inn but cleanliness is expected (and cheap)We walked down the hall and popped our heads into a few other open rooms and saw similar conditions. WE LEFT! No one was at the front desk We then tossed our room key on the desk and left Also When we pulled back the bed sheets we exposed the dated mattress with a foam topper from the 70 s which also had hair on it and four flimsy dirty pillows. There was no one visibly around to show or even talk to regarding these issues! We called upon leaving to try and get at least one of the nights refunded , we were then connected to an answering service, we left a message and received a call back from Charlie the next day After explaining our disappointment and concerns we were told not only would we not receive a refund but also we re not welcome there ever again and he s going to call all the other hotels in the area and let them know not to rent to us thus banning us from the area forever. To be very clear this poor review isn't about lack of snow (we didn t even bring snowmobiles) It s about cleanliness and lack of service and poor hospitality!!!Shouldn t this be expected it this industry

What an experience - this place makes you feel like you ve gone back in time maybe a century. In my opinion, the fall is the best in this area. Arrived via canoe and stayed for sunset, dinner and overnight in one of the rustic rooms on the second floor. No need to rate the view of the lake - see photos. Food at the restaurant was better than expected as was the service. We heard complaints about both, but didn t experience any missteps. Grab a drink at the downstairs bar and walk down to the lake for a memorable time.

Beautiful lake, great location, great breakfast spot across the road and bakery. Kayaking very close, ping pong, pool table, beautiful dock. Easy check in and out. Delicious meal on porch, but no tv or AC so recommend the fall. The only thing was cook refused to leave glaze off steak or on side, cook seemed a little full of himself. Someone, use the coupon attached.

Had an amazing experience without technically staying, though we definitely plan to book a stay in our next adventure through the Adirondacks. The Woods Inn is an gorgeous step back in time that we came across by accident. Amazing building with beautiful preservation and restoration! We were heading through a pretty messy snow event on our way from Saranac to home (Attica, NY) and decided to get a place to stay overnight till the storm passed. We booked a spa tub room online at the Woods Inn. When we arrived, we were a bit early, but found that the front desk was handling everything remotely through their ring doorbell. We were directed through the check in process, but found that the room set up for us was actually not yet available. We are pretty easy going people (plus we were early) so we decided to head over to Old Forge and have some lunch and watch the rest of the football game while they set about fixing up a room. While we waited, the management kept in touch with us through texts. He let us know that ultimately, the room would not be available to us at their establishment and instead they were going to be finding us comparable lodging right where we were!We were given a suite room with a Jacuzzi tub at a beautiful hotel in Old Forge. No charge. They went above and beyond generous and we are so very grateful for their help!

I cannot wait to visit this lodge again! These people know hospitality, they know good food, they know how to provide a great experience so that their guests can enjoy their time in the Adirondack Mountains of upstate New York. The building creeks. It's lovely, its expansive history is just oozing throughout the atmosphere - you can sense this from the moment that you walk in because the building creeks. Upon entry you're instantly clear about the fact that you are on a property with a rich history - one that was probably built from the lumber of the trees right there on its lake. A property that has withstood all the tests of time. A property that is also very much haunted.Yes, I said it! The Woods Inn has disembodied energies! The property has a ghost (or two, or three) running around, as I PERSONALLY saw the shadow of something or someone in the upstairs hallway coming right at me like it knew my first and last name or something. And this was BEFORE Charlie confirmed that, yes, there are some unexplained things & beings hanging around the spot.If you are a hiker, the Rocky Mountain Trailhead isn't too far. So that's a plus. The Woods Inn, and Charlie & co., deserves all of the success that they have been blessed to experience, and given the opportunity this Winter, I would love to plan another visit. Fingers crossed!

Hubby and I enjoyed our stay at the Woods Inn. The building and rooms are beautiful. We really like the old fashioned bead board in our room. We had dinner on the side porch that over looks the lake. The food was delicious. And the tin ceiling in the main dining room is gorgeous. The only thing that really bothered us was the lack of deep cleaning in our room.. There were dust bunnies and a soda cap under the bed. The bed frame had a discarded lollipop stick and dust. There was cigarette ashes on a windowsill and an empty beer bottle right outside the window.Other than that we had a really great time there. We hope to come back in the summer. I bet its super pretty then.

Our room was comfortable and clean and the inn was nicely decorated and at a great location with beautiful views. I'm giving it two stars because:1. Our room smelled of cigarette smoke strongly for the three nights we were there. We promptly notified the front desk and they seemed aware that this was an ongoing issue for room 108 and told me that the smoking area was a bit outside of our window and that the smell would be worse if the A/C was running. The A/C wasn't running yet but the room was very hot and humid so this was not an option. We let the staff know again twice and there was no resolution though they indicated they would monitor the situation. I also provided a mid-low rating (6/10) when they checked in with me after the first night and no one followed up.2. Some of the staff were very kind and went out of their way to ask how things were going and we're friendly and warm. Some of the staff were not friendly and seemed unenaged and quite annoyed at my questions. Perhaps it was unintentional but the inn prides itself on its customer service.3. I think there are a few things the inn could do to make the stay a bit more welcoming. This is a common place for hikers and alike to stay. A fruit bowl in the living room or an options to order a packed lunch would be very valuable. The in does have guests acknowledge they should keep the noise down but the voices between connected rooms travels very well and I could hear everything the guests in the to next to us were saying. I think she sound machines or similar could help with this.

Oh what is not to love!! First time and definitely NOT the last. The charm, the ambiance, view, food, rooms all of it!! Historic Beautiful and No elevators!! Love it!! This is my new best get away!! And you can walk up the Lane and be right in town with many coffee choices, food and shopping. I'm so thrilled to have found this gem in the Adirondack!

We called last minute and got a room that they said was a cancellation. I honestly think it s just a bonus room that they give if it s all booked up. It s a handicap accessible room that it in the main building on the bottom floor.I can t vouch for anything other than the room because we left quickly in the morning, but we were far less than impressed. So just know, you may get this room that looks MUCH less dreamy than other people s photos. We were directly under the kitchen of the restaurant or something and it was so loud. It was also creepy to hear drunk guys right outside our window (that didn t lock) who were leaving.I wouldn t have been quite as annoyed if it cost significantly less, but there s still an eery feeling when you open a closet door and see 3 set mouse traps. Bathroom door is very crooked too but you can still close it with some force. The front door also shows a major lack of weather stripping so the room will get pretty cold in coming months.I ve seen on other reviews that they will say we should bring up concerns to management but that doesn t concern us anymore because we won t stay again. Just want to warn others to check it out first! The pier to the lake is gorgeous though!

This is a must visit in the Adirondacks! Such a charming and cozy space with the friendliest and most caring staff. The view of the lake is unbelievable and is matched with great food and hospitality. All of their Covid policies made me feel really safe during my stay and I will absolutely be back!

This place is full of upstate lakeside Adirondack charm! From the warm welcome when we stopped in unexpectedly, we enjoyed every minute of our stay here! The Laughing Loon tavern was an excellent, cozy place to unwind after check-in and a bit of evening fishing - and the bartender makes a great drink! This morning, I read by our window overlooking the lake, and he got in some more fishing time. I can only imagine how much fun could be had here in the warmth of the summer - we'll have to come back and check it out!

Visited with a girlfriend to get some moderate hikes in, explore the local town's shops and restaurants. Beautiful view, right on the lake, and it feels very serene. There are a variety of room options to suit your needs. It is only a 15 minute drive to several nearby hiking trails, also with wonderful views, so this location is really perfect for a rustic yet comfortable Adirondack weekend getaway. Owners are very welcoming, personable and happy to help with any questions, recommendations. It feels like you are staying with family! (photo taken from the backyard/lawn of the inn)

We've been 2x during the snowmobile season. 2 VERY different experiences with the same bartender. 1 was excellent the other not really that great. Perhaps a bad day? We were unsure. Food was good both times. Pic of wings from the first visit, which we loved!

If you re into snowmobiling, this is the place for you! Great access to the trails, lively tavern, and food onsite. If you re looking for a quiet room to relax and stretch out in, I wouldn t recommend this option. While the Inn has a great location on the lake, the rooms are pretty noisy. The restaurant was directly below our room and the tavern a floor below that - both were pretty loud + we could hear everything happening with the guests staying in the room above us.

We ate in the bar area, there is a seperate dinner area. Very Adirondack historic. Rooms available. Service was great, Cindy is a gem! All the food was excellent! No fryers, great!!! Several gluten free options. The fish tacos were delicious. The wings were very tasty and cooked/ grilled perfectly! Cozy place, will definitely be back!!

It's a beautiful area and the mattresses in the rooms are absolutely the best I've ever slept on.I have a few medical issues that make it very difficult to sleep in any position for any length of time. Charlie the owner and his staff made our stay very memorable.

We had our wedding here in September and it was fabulous! The setting is perfect, the venue and grounds are well kept and clean, the staff is attentive and personal and super friendly! They really go above and beyond to pay attention to details. The pavilion is a great space, with walls and heaters if needed. We had a buffet style dinner which all of our guests complemented. Guests can stay on site which is an added bonus. If you are thinking of having your wedding here do not hesitate! Can't say enough about what a wonderful event it was! I recommend renting the Lakeview cottage for your wedding party!

I have a love affair with the Woods Inn. Years ago when it was abandoned, I felt it was so romantic...a stately historic icon on gorgeous 4th Lake. I was thrilled when it was bought and refurbished and we have enjoying coming each year for brunch or other meals. The staff worked hard to accommodate our party of 36 coming together for the first time post-COVID to celebrate the passing of our grandmother. The tent is a beautiful setting and they helped us with a special video and a surprise birthday cake. The only piece that needed a little work was the delivery of our seated dinner. It took nearly 40 minutes for them to bring out the dinners one by one, having to walk quite a ways from the kitchen to the tent. The kids meals came last :( and that was hard on the little ones who have a hard time waiting.

Although the server was pleasant and polite, and the food was good, the service was very slow and the food took over an hour on the ticket time! That's not acceptable in my book. I had my credit card out on the table when the waitress looked directly at it, handed me the bill and walked away. 20 minutes later I had to leave cash so I could leave after two hours in the restaurant after ordering just an entree! The view was perfect, but ruined by the wait staff and kitchen staff. Sorry folks, but you need to get a handle on this to be considered higher end as a restaurant.

Our family spent a weekend for a family reunion, and were very disappointed. They nickel and dime you for less than mediocre service. We sat outside on the lawn visiting with family and were told we we're too loud and had to quiet down, mid afternoon, when we had the whole place rented out. Multiple family members had run-ins with staff, including almost anyone who asked for extra towels for their room. We also had a fire scheduled, which they charge you for, which is ridiculous in it's own right. But shortly before it was supposed to happen we were told the winds were too strong, over 5 mph, to have a fire. So our entire party had to sit around, without the fire, as all our weather apps showed about 2 mph winds, there was nothing. Stay elsewhere, they were not accommodating at all. Those with a small infant called ahead to find they had no high chairs of any sort, so they were on their own. Many family members expressed disappointment.

This will be our third year staying at The Woods Inn. We just love the charm of the Inn. My Kids are 12 & 15 and we go snowmobiling during our February break. The restaurant has great food and great service. The rooms are clean and comfortable. Guests gather in the great room and talk about local places go to and different local experiences.

Great little hotel in the Adirondack's. We spent the first three nights of our honeymoon in the Woods Inn and it was perfect. The bed was a little uncomfortable but it wasn't terrible. Shower was fine and the view is great. We missed breakfast, but we've eaten there before when not staying and the food is decent. The bacon is pretty good. The worst part was that we could hear another guest's phone vibrating all night long from a different room. So in other words it's great.

A wonderfully enjoyable evening. Excellent atmosphere, friendly staff and the food was very good. My only issue, the vegetables could be better seasoned, asparagus bland. We met Charlie, the owner... very friendly and passionate about the Restaurant/Inn. Nancy, our hostess... so courteous and sweet.Thank you for a wonderful evening
