Best old candy store and car service ever. Any candy you can think of you will find here.Their auto service dept is the best. Their mechanics are excellent.The whole place is well maintained. Neat orderly and clean.Eileen and Ronnie and their staff are a pleasure to do business with.My thanks to a great team.

Excellent selection of old time candy and toys. They had a Willy Wonker tin lunchbox that I had them put all the goodies in for my sons 40th birthday. Wonderful job putting it all together for me

Spectacular assortment of old time candy favorites! Reasonable prices and very friendly service! Great selection of retro toys and games, too! Kids of all ages will love this place!Kid-friendliness: If you have a kid, are a kid or were a kid...you have to see this place!

Came for the candy shop. I drive past it often but decided to stop it today and I m glad I did. This idiosyncratic candy shop has been around for decades. Ronnie, the owner of the auto repair and candy shop, gave me a brief introduction of their history.It was initially a gas station owned by his in-laws, until they renovated the office into a general store. It was the only one that offered food and drink, as well as a grand collection of smokes. When gas stations in the area began following suit, his wife Eileen decided to convert the store into a nostalgic candy shop . But don t worry- all the candy and chocolate bars are reproductions from their respective manufacturers. Eventually they took out the gas station for extra parking space. The candy shop also stocks nostalgic toys and colorforms, lunch boxes and collectibles, but the most interesting things were a popcorn machine and a refrigerated Coca-Cola unit the couple had restored; they re in working condition too, not just for display!I never knew the animals on Animal Crackers packaging used to be behind bars. Or that a Skybar, which was Ronnie s favorite growing up, had 4 flavors within 1 bar.If you ve got a car to service, they do everything except for body work. They re very transparent about prices and waits won t feel long with this candy shop next door. Don t drive by like I did for months, come check it out!

What a wonderful & nostalgic store! I spoke with the owners Eileen & Ronnie, to help me put together a gift basket to deliver to my nephew at the local hospital. They were so lovely & helpful, and made the most awesome basket that would fulfill every child s dreams. I m certain it will bring a smile to his face. I m so grateful to them! I only wish the store was closer to me so that I could visit often & reminisce.

Went in here to buy candy the other day. The gentleman at the register was waiting on somebody picking up their car so I was there a few minutes and waited patiently. While I m waiting? Some old guy came walking out of the shop. Walks up to the register. Asks the guy behind the counter for a mask. He comes over to me and tells me I need to put it on. So I look at him? I ask, I didn t hear anything about any mask mandate? He tells me there is one in there. Because he s trying to help immune compromised people. This alone? I ll let you know right now? Is reason for me to never go in this place ever again. Not interested in your politics, and you can believe whatever Sillyness you want. My opinion has always been? If you re so worried? Then you should put a mask on. If you re so worried? You should go get the vaccine. That we all know by now? Does not stop you from getting Covid. I still remember? After they had given out millions of vaccines? When they found out you can still get covid? They came on the news and said if you get the vaccine and get Covid still? It s even better for you! Lol. Before I walked out? I asked the guy behind the counter? If this place is so politically correct? Why are you in business fixing all of these cars that are destroying the environment and leaving carbon footprints? Causing global warming? They didn t have an answer for that. I looked through the reviews on Google. They have a lot of happy customers. Good for you but me? Myself? I won t be coming back.

Bob Howard s Auto Service and Nostalgic Candy Store is an institution in New Hyde Park for many years. Ronnie the owner is always kind and helpful. The candy and toy store inside really has to be seen to be believed. It has the look and feel of an early 1950 s candy store. All the products are well stocked and it will make you feel like you walked into a Time Machine. Disney could not have done it any better than Bob Howard s. Family and child friendly. Very highly recommended.

Just wanted to share my experience at Bobb Howard's repair shop today I needed my catalytic converters replaced (Both) and got a quote from another known place, I needed to save some $$ on this repair to I got another quote was able to save $1000 going to BH , everybody was amazing my car was taken at my appointed time It need another sensor car was finished under the allotted time paid my bill got my cookies and M$M's as gifts Im mean what more can you ask for....well there's more... a fun little toy and candy store with all kind of items that you remember as a kid ......BH has my vote for having a great Repair service station that I will definitely use again.

Talk about a trip down memory lane..been passing by this place forever finally when back inside and had flashback on so many old candy and toys...it a great feeling and a place worth going to find the past we left behind a chance to be a kid again...

Great selection of candy and old games. Got a smile on the face of my friends and I. Hope small businesses like this grow bigger in the future. Love this place

Been taking my senior client once a month to the candy store to reminisce on the candy she grew up having as a kid. The price is quite reasonable the selection is amazing. They even have toys from back in the day games. If you want to reminisce on your childhood joys, come here

I lived in this neighborhood since i was a kid. Even when i was just buying Candy afterschool Eileen and Ronny were always so kind to anyone who stepped through the door.Years later I am coming here for my car and I have to say the service with the mechanics is just as amazing! They are honest and fast to fix your car, I feel most comfortable coming here- especially because my knowledge on cars is terrible (lol). I am hoping their business thrives for my future kids to experience such great service (both the candy and car repairs!)

My family and I have been coming here for over 25 years. Always exceptional service, Ron and his wife are sweethearts. Never had any issues with my car after servicing and never felt like I was getting ripped off. Definitely recommend !

This place was awesome, the owner made the experience special for my 6 year old daughter. She picked all her favorite candy, I picked all my favorite candy (even old stuff i thought they didn't make anymore) ....she picked a cool little toy and at the end the owner gave us some free popcorn from a really cool antique popcorn machine.....I highly recommend a visit for anyone! P.S. prices were great not like most candy stores.

My wife and daughter were staying at the nearby Ronald McDonald House during a period when our daughter had multiple appointments with specialists for chronic medical issues. In the midst of all this, the exhaust system of our car suffered an apparent broken hanger and was dangling just above street level. We used to live on Long Island but had never been a customer of Bobb Howard's before. I looked online, saw their good reviews & gave them a call. I spoke to Lee who was very patient & helpful. Yes, they'd look at the car and do what they could. After two doctor appointments my wife and daughter finally arrived. The car went up on the lift. Yes, they could weld a repair. Meanwhile the girls sat in a waiting area that was like a wonderful museum full of vintage toys and collectibles. When the car was fixed, they said there would be...no charge! The mechanic even refused to take a tip! This is a most uncommon place and these people were God's blessing in our time of need. It's no wonder their shop has endured for so many years and their reviews are so good. We could not possibly be more grateful, or recommend them more highly.

He has a great amount of nostalgic candy and toys. It's a small place but he packs it in with such amazing stuff. There's an old fashioned pop corn machine from movie theaters and he gave us a free bag. You can buy original unopened baseball cards from 1986 and up. So cool. Check them out please!!

After my check engine and AWD warning lights appeared on my dash, I took my 2013 Toyota RAV4 to Bobb Howard's. Ronnie called me with a report on what they found and gave me an estimated cost. The car was ready soon after I gave approval to proceed with replacing the oxygen sensor. It's wonderful to have a place where I can bring my car and know I can count on getting great & courteous service. And an added bonus is looking at all the nostalgic candy they have for sale. It took all my willpower not to buy anything, but maybe next time! Thanks, Ronnie!

This people r very honet,genuine, not greedy, well professional, particular and best follow up.that is why they win community award every year.i get my all car done here and they r reasonable. They don't suggest anything which not needed.

This adorable candy shop attached to an auto garage is the perfect place to seek out classic sweet treats. The owners are incredibly pleasant people who go the extra mile to make sure you leave happy. If you haven t been here before, it s never too late to enjoy this gem of a store.

We need a local guy for car repairs so we tried these guys out. So far they have worked on four of our cars and all is good. Prices seem ok and since most places are in the same ballpark, the personality counts; this place has personality.Definitely worth the visit if passing through and craving some candy.Nice place, nice guys.
