When I walked in with my homely 14-year-old car, the folks at AutoMat asked what I'd like done. Then I just looked at them and smiled, they laughed, and said, "Everything, right?" I had heard about AutoMat for years, and they deserve their reputation. Tim went through all of the options with me, including ways to save money. Even halfway through the process they invited me in to review the progress and to fine tune anything else I wanted. In the end, the car looks far better than it did at the dealership on the day I bought it in 2009, and in my opinion better than any other new car I could have replaced it with. I could not think of a better place to take your car.

I started the process of having the vinyl top on my '71 DeVille ,replaced a few years back. The project kept getting sidetracked due to work, family priorities. I would stop in to AutoMat periodically to speak with Tim, just to touch base and each time he was extremely helpful and patient. This past November I stopped in again to let him know I was ready to put a deposit down for the work. He printed me up an estimation and gave me a time frame. I paid my deposit and within a month my Cadillac had it's new vinyl top installed. I met the gentleman who did the work, his name was Rick. Rick did a fantastic job. I will be straight up and to the point. Will I return here for more work to be done to my classic car? YES ! Tim and Staff at AutoMat provide quality work and excellent customer service. I can not say enough good things about this company. Everyone there has many years of experience and they all take tremendous pride in their work which is outstanding.They took my 2002 Lexus 430 convertible and replaced the entire leather interior. I looks like it did the day I picked it up from the dealership.Tim the owner is very friendly and fair and he obviously loves what he does. He actually gave me a tour of his shop (which is huge) when I stopped by to see how the job was progressing.The prices are fair and the work is done on time.---Do not go elsewhere.

I had an awesome experience at AutoMat Custom & Restoration on Hazel Street in Hicksville. I had a rip in my leather driver's seat on the seam in the upper portion. Timothy, who is the business owner, had spent a great deal of time to match the grain of the leather to its perfection. Two weeks later, I brought my car in to be serviced. The work performed is flawless! I am super satisfied with the work they had done, and will absolutely return when the need arises! Thank You for reading this review! AutoMat worked on my 65 Lincoln about 10 years ago. While recently doing a small repair I took notice of the job that they did on my leather interior and carpeting. The ATTENTION TO DETAIL IS OUTSTANDING. I was amazed that the reassembly was done with such precision and care. Very happy with the quality work from Automat. I have bee using them for years and will continue to do so as long as they will have me. The pictures attached are from the fitment of speakers and reupholstering of the dash in a 1995 defender and the fitment if the "lotus" plates on a 2011 Lotus Evora door sill. The 2012 had those plates, so Automat was able to make it happen and made it look factory.

My rag top Audi A5 needed to have the inner roof lining repaired. Tim the owner went thru the process with me on how they would fix it. He took the time to explain and was patient in answering all my questions. The work took a day and I was impressed with the finished product. A great place to bring your car. Also I asked about if he knew of any products to keep the" rag top in good shape". ( At Audi they said there was nothing you could do in maintaining the top). He showed me 2 products to use... took the time to explain them and also go over the "fine" elements on what to look for in keeping the top in good shape. by the way its a 2015 A5. Great and friendly people to do business with.

I brought my older car into Automat for new upholstery, as well as mechanical work.The price I was charged was almost double from original quote. It took them almost a year to do basic work. They did not complete the job. The upholstery they showed me was not what they installed. There were chips to the body paint , someone was racing the car through stone. I removed the car otherwise it would have been there past a year. Terrible Experience.Get everything in writing,take pictures and get a completion Date .Services: Auto engine tuning, Car upholstery, Upholstery installation

Outstanding customer service and workmanship! Tim, Lorraine and Lisa all went above and beyond to repair a section of my car upholstery as quickly and as least expensive as possible. Had damage to front seat on my Porsche 911 C4S ..they not only repaired the damage I paid them for but repaired additional scratches on the seat. The work is undetectable and the seat looks new. I m very pleased with my experience across the board!

They fixed my convertible top on my 04 bmw 330ci. It had a huge water leak that was causing me mechanical problems, the top wouldn t convert at all & it was just a huge mess. They were super friendly and answered my questions about everything. Would totally recommend.

I took a long time to decide whether to write a review for Automat. But after having spent some time (and, more importantly, more money) to digest and repair what was done to my car, I decided it was time to let the world know.In December, I dropped off my Land Rover Discovery 2 G4 Edition for a run-through. I wanted to have it shone-up and a couple of smaller things adressed. Window run channels needed replacing, and a leaking windscreen had to be reinstalled. I supplied most of the necessary parts, which can be hard to find for this car. While the windshield was out, I needed Automat to repair a lifting dashboard. In addition to the other repairs, a faulty door lock, and alarm needed to be sorted. While Automat had the car, we decided they would repair the peeling clear coat on the bonnet, fix some minor dents and dings, and rubberize the undercarriage with an M3 undercoat. Nothing too complicated for a shop specializing in interiors, electronics, and show cars. And perfect for a shop that proudly boosts its 65 years in business. I dropped the car off with the agreement that it would go into the shop the same week, and when done, I had arranged for indoor storage when the vehicle was finished so it wouldn't sit out all winter on the salty winter roads. The whole ordeal would be wrapped with a final sexy detail so the car would be perfect in March when I returned.I returned in March; the car WAS NOT READY. They had street-parked it all winter, as I could see on Google maps. When I finally got it back. They had lost and not installed half of the parts I had supplied. The installs they had done were terrible. The lifted dash was glued down with silicone by what looked like the skill level of a toddler. Plastic parts that had been broken or lost in the process were not replaced but just sluggishly dumped back in or ignored. Whoever had done the windshield had broken open a crack in the roof-drain channel. Window runs were not installed but were lost. Parts from the door had been lost in the process and not replaced. The windscreen was still leaking. A-pillars were reinstalled badly. The bonnet was painted but not matching the rest of the car. The door lock and alarm had been repaired, but in the the door panels only somewhat reinstalled.My life is too short to be angry, so I gave Tim a chance to fix the lousy job, though that meant I was repurchasing some of the lost parts. After he was done, the 2nd time around, the windscreen was still leaking. He did reinstall some of the lost interior panels, but again, that looked like the toddler had been at play again.So, here we are; I've been stuck touching up all the mistakes made by Automat. I would have blocked the entire payment had it been on a credit card. But smartly, he only accepts debit cards for large purchases.Tim is not cheap, but the caliber of work delivered is. His quality control is nonexistent or sluggish at best. Attention to detail is absent, but most importantly, the complete lack of respect and craft is unforgivable when you are entrusted with people's precious collectible cars.

They reupholstered the rear seat of my 69 Firebird in black leather to match the look of bucket seats I bought. They also embroidered a Pontiac arrowhead logo on the seat back. It came out fantastic. I highly recommend their work.

Let me start by stating that had I have known about AutoMat before I started my project I would ve used them for my entire restoration, not that I m not satisfied with my shop in NC but AutoMat is local and I m completely satisfied with the work they did. Wait that s an understatement I m super satisfied with the work they did. Tim was so professional, without an appointment he spent hours with me and it seems that he knew what I wanted without me being able to explain it to him. The actual work that was done is phenomenal!!! I will recommend AutoMat to all of my car guy buddies. Please go to there YouTube channel and watch some of their builds, then let them do your project for you. YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED.

I would like to take this opportunity to let the world know that I m tickled pink with the outstanding and professional work AutoMat has done on the installation of a manually-operated convertible top for my MR2 sports car.Without hesitation, I am recommending AutoMat to anyone who wants the highest quality of workmanship for their car. I definitely would give AutoMat the maximum stars possible. My new top fits like a glove, it opens and closes with ease, and it has a nice, tight fit when it s closed.Now, be advised that I am writing this recommendation, not one or two days after, but a few weeks after the work was done. I m doing this because I wanted to be absolutely sure that I am 100% satisfied with the work done before I go endorsing anyone, and I certainly am - there have been no leaks at all considering the car is not garaged and it has already been through four heavy rainstorms and half a hurricane! The top still opens and closes with the greatest of ease, and it really looks terrific as if it were installed yesterday.I know for a fact this convertible top installation was not an easy install. I once had it done several years ago by a shop who claimed they were experienced, but they ended up doing a botch job and had my car in their garage for three days when this is really a one day job. That cheap top they installed did not last long, so when I decided to have it replaced because the quality of the top and the installation was poor, I began to search around for another company to install the new top. I was quite surprised to learn that some shops simply turned down the job because it was either too complicated, they were too busy, or maybe they just didn t know how to do it. Some shops took my name and number and said they would get back to me with an estimate. They never did.It was through a show-biz friend of mine that I learned about AutoMat.I want to mention that every employee I met at AutoMat was very professional, courteous, and helpful in addressing any question or concern that I had. The name of the gentleman I worked with is Tim, and I strongly recommend bringing your car in and speaking with him first to discuss what you would like to have done. It ll cost you nothing to find out how reasonable first-class quality work can be. Tim listens carefully to what the customer wants, or has to say, and he can offer valuable input or options to your ideas stemming from his years of experience. And when it comes to doing the work on time, my car was ready for pickup when promised. In my case, the same day.Last but not least, there were no add-ons or surprises to the bill. What I ended up paying was exactly what he quoted me at the beginning, nothing more. Now that I have seen and experienced the excellent quality of work AutoMat has to offer, I will no doubt be going back for future projects. AutoMat is now my go-to place for any upholstery or convertible top work.Give them a try, visit the shop, you ll see what I mean.

I have used Automat several times over the last 8+ years to service my Porsche Carrera 2. Most recently they replaced the convertible top and integrated rear plastic window, and also installed new custom fitted floor mats with the Porsche crest. I am very happy with the service and quality of workmanship of Tim and the Automat team.

I have been dealing with AutoMat for many years. Tim and the crew are a class act.His estimates and time of completion have been accurate. His workmanship is second to none.One of my cars has Ultra Leather and one seat was not up to my standards. He matched the leather and repaired the seat to such perfection no one knows it was repaired. I highly recommend AutoMat.

Tim and his team are the BEST!!!!!! We have a 25 year old BMW convertible and the interiors were completely cracked and ruined. We thought there would no hope for our fun little car. I did compare Automat with other companies from the Hamptons to Nassau county. Tim was the most knowledgeable, caring and very fair pricing. They were spot on about how many days to get the leather, mats etc and also spot on how many days to redo the entire car. We are THRILLED and wish we had another car to give them! The car looks brand new!!!!!

I can't say enough good things about my experience at AutoMat Customizing & Restoration.I was struggling with terrible seats in a car I loved. Automat completely rebuilt my seats with custom cushions and lumbar support, problem solved. Tim not only spent time going through various solutions with me he accommodated my timeline despite being super busy preparing for a car show the following weekend. I have been using AutoMat for years and Tim's technicians keep getting better and better. There is no one else in the auto upholstery business who has the skills and talented crew of AutoMat. I originally found AutoMat for some custom floormats for a Mazda Miata. Then future projects included the beautiful customization of two motorcycle seats, an interior in a BMW, and just today a convertible top for a Ferrari project. Tim not only has well-trained techs, but also sources the correct fabrics and leathers he knows will work well for your project. Moreover, because they have a large and safe facility the job gets done in a timely manner.
