Phenomenal experience from AAA-1 Transmission. Was in a pitch on Saturday with my transmission and I needed a part for my transmission. Instead of running to a transmission supplier, I opted to call AAA-1 Transmission. They sold me the part I need without hesitation and I was back on the road that evening. They even gave me expert advice without me asking. I ve been rebuilding transmission since a kid and I m 51 years old now so their advice was on the money. My brother-in-law uses their shop for transmission overhauls which entails his shop in Long Island and Lake George. He never had a problem. I also saw that do fleet and municipal work. Fantastic set of guys.Service: Transmission

Gary rebuilt my 37 year old 1985 Mercedes, W123 300D automatic transmission. Showed it to me when it was disassembled and apart on his bench. Long story short,it now shifts perfect.Gary and Bill are professional and know what they are doing.Glad that I found this shop.RalphService: Transmission

I drove 3 hours one way just to get the great Gary Ferraro from YouTube. This transmission he rebuilt for me looks wonderful. I am in the process of installing it and will update once it is done. So far, he has given me some really good advice. If I were closer, I would have given him the whole job.Where I live, (Stroudsburg PA)we don't have anyone that is on the same level as Gary. Will update my review when I'm doneService: Transmission

I have an interesting situation that without a doubt the most worthy reason for giving a 6 star review if I could..Skip to the last paragraph if you just want to results without the honest details.I have an ML63 that had a check engine light which I scanned to find out it had lost communication with transmission control module.I took it to Mercedes to confirm this was the only problem, knowing I would be replacing it myself.MB told me if I did not have them do the job, it would cost me way more money if they found a problem, because they claimed that the dealership was the only place that could re program the computer...... Very intimidating. I did not have the $3,000 they were asking to do the job.I removed and replaced the part, loaded it onto a flatbed and had it transported to MB to get the TCM re programmed which I was quoted $165hr x 2 hours. I get a phone call and they say there is a problem (it is hard shifting 1st gear into 2nd). When I get there, they are unable to replicate the issue but tell me the transmissiopn needs to be torn down to find the problem.I trust they are telling me the truth, but when they take it apart, they say they found some bolts in the oil pan and a ball bearing they claim came from the valve body (which is impossible) and later I found out that the ball bearing they claimed came out of the valve body actually had no use and was for compression tessting at the MB factory before car went sent to be sold by dealships.Long story short, the $330.00 quote turned into a $3600 amount that dealer claimed they had spent on the vehicle. This turned into the dealership telling me I also needed to replace the valve body = $2,000+.I was forced to buy 2 different valve bodies according to MB and was told that it was actually the transmission and I needed to replace the entire transmission for upwards of $7,000 on top of the $3600 and other costs for valve bodies and labor that MB charged me.MB kept my ML63 for over 6 weeks and gave the car back to me in worse condition than after it had been dropped off.Car drove perfecty before taking it into dealer and after removing and replacing TCM, the car drove onto the flatbed without a problem. The TCM just needed re programming. So now the car is stuck in 1st gear in sport mode and in comfort mode, the clutch slips and car goes nowhere. MB says its my problem because I replaced the TCM myself and obviously destroyed the transmission. I knew 100% I did a perfect replacement because I documented, photographed and video recorded the entire event!!!!I approach Gary at AAA1 and explain my situation and tell him exactly what is going on.I had my ML63 transported to his shop in West Hempstead, NY and he inspected it. He removed the valvebody to confirm that there was no problem with any missing ballbearings and it was in perfect order after doing tests on solenoids and so on.Gary then connected it to his computer and found that the Mercedes Benz Deaalership had failed to initialize the transmission control module.Gary initialized the computer which took all of 10 minutes and took the car for a test drive. The transmission was 100% in perfect working order.Gary could have easily taken advantage of the situation and he could have told me I needed a new transmission just like MB had done. That would have been several thousand dollars in his pocket. He was instead honest and I would have had no idea at all if he had have mislead me into believing I needed to spend money on a new transmission.I can't even explain how rare this kind of honesty is in the world today. The total bill from Gary was a few hundred dollars. If you have any problems, I can say that Gary and his team at AAA-1 are the best place to trust with your vehicle and I am so grateful for his genuine and honest ways that he took care of my situation.Thank you Gary,JT

I had a transmission problem with my 328xi and fortunately while searching the net I found Gary from a you tube video. I called him, explained the problem he right away knew what it was. I didn't hesitate to tow the car to his shop. His professionalism, knowledgeable and by far the fairest price in the market. I would highly recommend his shop to everyone. If you need more information check out his YouTube channel. Thanks Gary for a job well done.

Gary really really helped me out. I was in a bind. I got in contact with him via email (I live in another state) to ask him some questions about my transmission problems. After having 2 shops fail to diagnose my transmission problems I was at a loss, so I reached out to Gary. He pointed me in the right direction. It was a simple problem that the other shop was unable to figure out. He was willing to answer my questions and respond to my emails despite his busy schedule. Gary is an honest guy and was willing to help me out when others weren't, nor did they have the know how. He was under no obligation to help me out but he did anyways. He pinpointed the issue without even seeing the car. And I managed to get it fixed!! Thanks again Gary!!

If one word can describe a business, "professional" sums up my dealings with Gary Ferraro's AAA-1 Transmissions. Not a man to promise a lot but then fall short, Gary Ferraro, along with his head mechanic, (also Gary - easy to remember), outperformed expectations, again and again. A tough project to tackle, my 2004 VW V8 Phaeton needed... a lot of work. Two other shops had completely failed, after months, to deliver anything. Then, I found Gary's YouTube channel. I gave him a call, and the Phaeton was trailered from three states away to his West Hempstead, NY shop.Anyone can appreciate attention to detail, especially now, when it seems mediocrity and "close enough" attitudes are common work ethics. But to receive MORE than hoped for is really rare, now or ever. Just a couple of examples: Having completely rebuilt the 6HP19, ZF 6-Speed transmission in the 4-Motion Phaeton, Gary noticed a very slow drip from the weep hole. Not content to return it in less than A1 shape, he stripped it down to find the cause, which turned out to have been a defective bearing seal. How many shops, I wonder, would have been so meticulous?Or take, for example, the troubleshooting wizadry exhibited by head mechanic Gary. He found the cause of numerous electrical gremlins by tracing the origin to previously done electrical work. Then, he eliminated them by rewiring the entire, 80+ wire-connector for the KESSY Module. At a transmission shop? Really?Considering their comprehensive parts & sub-system sources in Europe and elsewhere, noting their masterful knowledge and skills, and recognizing their achievement of high professional standards, AAA-1 Transmissions is clearly a business in a unique league. They took my pretty rare, really special but horribly substandard collector's car and turned it into a sublime specimen that could be a daily driver. If you need any work done to your vehicle, give AAA-1 a call. I suspect that you will feel gratified and rewarded by their attention, and I unreservedly give them my highest possible recommendation.

I had a better experience with Gary and AAA-1 service than I do at the beach!I found Gary on YouTube though his very professional training videos. I have a 2004 Jaguar XJ8 and was looking for a "king" transmission mechanic to diagnose the rough shifting on my car. From the moment I spoke with Gary I was confident I can leave the repair in his hands. He was such a gentleman on the phone.I live over 2 hours away from the shop. Gary had no problem with me leaving my car while I went out of the country for a week. I was totally cool with leaving it with him to diagnose. Do to my location in another country he updated me with detailed emails regarding what he found out, including options, multiple times a day over that week period. Amongst the repairs he filled my transmission fluid to the correct level free of charge. My car is running great and smooth. Most importantly is he did not scare me about major issues. I could not have dreamed of anything better and I know 1st hand his work is 100% guaranteed.Gary is truly an honest and transparent gentleman who's also an awesome mechanic. Thanks a million!

Extremely helpful and honest.i let GARY and Bill know what symptoms I was having with my Hummer H3 and they could have done a complete rebuild and overcharged me but instead figured out it was my transfer case that wasn t shifting. Powered it up and shifted it out of neutral and only charged for 1 hour of labor + the tow which goes to the tow company.Hummer now runs fine. Thanks GARY and Bill for being Honest and doing a much faster than expected job. Professional, with a personal touch. Honest pricing and great mechanical work. I also love the fact that they are neighborhood guys running a business in my home town. Gary D. had come highly recommended by other friends and he lives up to it. He will also drive you home when you take your vehicle in if you dont have a ride. Integrity is hard to come by these days, and these guys have it. Shop local!

Once again AAA-1 Transmission came through for me and did a marvelous job fixing my car. They rebuilt several transmissions for me previously but this time they did engine work replacing the flywheel and starter and tuned the engine. The car drove so smooth and powerfully I actually thought that if two diamond dealers were sitting in the back seat of my Mercury they would be able to perfectly cut a diamond as was done in a commercial years ago.Thank you to Gary and the whole team.

An outstanding experience.I had the pleasure of having transmission work completed at AAA-1 Transmissions in June 2018 and am highly complementary of the shop and its owner, Gary. I came across the owner while researching issues being experienced with the transmission in my 2005 BMW X5, Gary having posted a series of self-help videos on YouTube specifically addressing my issues with the transmission in my vehicle. After a series of emails and a couple of phone calls with Gary I had a high degree of confidence that I had found the right shop and team to service my vehicle I could not have been more right. Gary proved to be knowledgeable, honest and diligent in resolving the issues I was experiencing. As a true car guy but without the skill, space or time to actually repair my vehicle, I felt Gary proposed and completed the right one step at a time approach, returning my X5 to the fun, quick and smooth vehicle it had been before my issues developed all at a cost that I felt was better than fair. Gary even went out of his way to have another shop repair a broken brake line which occurred while I was in route to his shop outstanding customer service. I drove over 400 miles round trip to both drop off and pick-up including through NYC traffic to get to Gary/AAA-1 Transmission and am happy to have done so. An overall outstanding experience.

Brought my vehicle for transmission repair. (Re-built). After holding onto my vehicle for more than a week without even starting any repairs he finally started rebuilding my transmission on the eighth day and in the interim broke the brake line! Now I have to go somewhere else to repair my brake line! The transmission is only guaranteed for one year!I wouldn t recommend anyone go there to change a windshield wiper! Update:The owner saw the review and the next day resolved the issue. Brake line good as new! Services: Transmission, Brakes

Gary got my BMW X5 transmission better than new! Quoted me a price on the phone and was able to fix transmission for price quoted. Drove from Buffalo NY to get my transmission repaired at AAA1 and definitely worth the 7 hour drive. Recommended 100%!!

I went to this shop because my friends husband uses them for his fleet of business trucks. They are 100% all the time and take excellent care of their customers. In fact that is where my car is right now. But aside from being expert and trustworthy they are a pleasure to deal with, complete gentlemen.

I found AAA-1 Transmissions last year when I was looking for a good transmission shop to rebuild my transmission. I Emailed Gary and he Told me to come in so he can check my transmission. Gary checked my transmission on a sat when they were not even open. that was kind of him. The rest was history. I had Gary rebuild my tranny and he stands by all the work he does. He contacted me and kept me updated with the rebuild. He also made a youtube video of him taking apart my transmission and showing what was damaged. I live in valley stream but I wish I lived closer because AAA-1 would be my full time mechanic because they do mechanic work also and I recently had some mechanic work done on my car from them.Bill does the mechanic work. They are both very honest and the work they do is great. My transmission have been running great and it has been a year so far since it has been rebuilt.

Honest, friendly, knowledgeable...from a mechanic on Christmas Eve?! I live 8 hrs away from Gary and AAA-1 Transmissions but he is helping me fix a problem with a rebuilt transmission. For free! On Christmas eve! Anybody that does that, gets my full endorsement every time. A hero in his field. If you don't believe me, watch his awesome You Tube videos. Highly recommended!

When all of the transmission shops around me were recommending an expensive rebuild AAA-1 actually took the time to give a correct diagnosis of the problem and come up with a cost effective solution to my 02 pathfinders problem. They fixed the car in one day and were super fair and helpful throughout. I 100% recommend AAA-1 for any transmission work.

AAA-1 Transmission stayed open and waited for me to get my car into the shop on a Friday evening. Provided a quick diagnosis of the issue with my car's clutches, explained in detail what needed to get done with a realistic time frame and reasonable price! Thank you!

They do all kinds of repairs, not just transmissions. You won't find more honest mechanics on Long Island! I have been a faithful customer since 2000. I was sold when I went for a second opinion. They told me I had a small leak. The first guy told me I needed a tranny. Saved me about $1,300 and didn't even charge me! Had to force them to take $20.

I have been going to AAA1 for over 15 years. Right from the beginning I have always felt that Gary and Bill only charge me for what is necessary. The don't try to throw in any extra fees or un-needed repairs. If they tell something needs to be fixed, I can trust that it does.

This is Gary, owner of the shop. Would like for Awilsonary to call me to let me know what happened. This year will be celebrating 52 years in business. Not sure of the situation but we do not do that.

Don't be fooled. I too was taken in by the appearance of honesty but that unfortunately did not last long. Given the chance they will rip you off. The final price they gave me was inflated from what they initially quoted me. Too bad...

Gary provides top notch service and goes above and beyond what most would do to help customers out. You won t find a better transmission tech around.
