Stayed at the Inn during the off-season. There was an incentive to book that we were interested in as an add on. It was $60 for $100 at the Halyard. Upon arrival, I was told there was a glitch with the add-on and it did not go through. Both receptionists were kind and helpful trying to correct the situation. Although upset about the timeliness of the matter, the manager corrected the situation and was very apologetic. We also had forgot our phone chargers and the reception was kind to loan us some from the hotel. The people here are kind, patient, and accommodating. The rooms are clean and spacious. We would recommend staying here. Thank you for the hospitality.

Showed up at 4:10 and was given a dirty too. Monica the manager was not on site so the poor front desk person took the brunt of my displeasure. Upon arrival we were charged for parking on the hotel grounds which wasn't mentioned anywhere at all. After a heated exchange and a call to Monica who wasn't on the property we were given another clean room. This is one and done for us. If a manger cannot be on-site what does that say about their level of customer serviceRooms: Dirty

I already shared this feedback with the hotel directly, but posting here because I'm so disappointed in this hotel. My mom booked us 2 nights at the Harbor Front Inn as a birthday gift for my husband. It's off season, so we emailed the hotel months in advance asking for a balcony view of the water on the 3rd floor. They responded with no promises but said they would try to accommodate. The hotel is well located on Front street, the main drag of Greenport. Walking distance to lots of shops and restaurants. We arrived to check in around 4pm on the first day of our 2 night stay. The front desk staff had no record of our request for a 3rd floor water view. She said they were totally full and couldn't accommodate. I believed her at the time but in retrospect the hotel didn't seem full all weekend. We got a second floor room with no balcony and a view of main street (opposite side of the hotel from the water). We planned to just hang out and relax and grab a few meals in town so this was fine, disappointing but ultimately fine. The front desk staff told us "I'm so sorry but you will have to pay for parking and its $20/night." What!!! Why? What is the purpose of the "resort fee" if it doesn't even include parking in the lot next to the building? Absolute robbery. We parked far away in the free municipal lot and lugged our bags to the hotel in freezing cold weather. When we got to our room, there was a large tray of snacks taking up the majority of the limited countertop space in the room. The mini-fridge was also completely filled with drinks available for purchase at an inflated premium. We were staying in the hotel for 2 nights for a leisurely getaway and we didn't want to have to look at the expensive snacks we can't afford the whole time. We asked the front desk to remove it and the staff said, "you could just not eat it" which I found kinda rude? I asked again, and finally she agreed to remove it but didn't remove all of it, leaving cookies and boxed water for some reason. There was also a bottle of wine chilling on ice in our room which the front desk claimed to know nothing about. We were afraid to drink it without knowing whether we would be charged! Our room had no tea or coffee maker, which I found very unusual for a hotel of this price and advertised quality. Even in low-end motels I'm usually able to have hot instant coffee in my room. I asked the front desk about it immediately, and was told that there was hot water in the lobby. Well unfortunately, the communal hot water and coffee station in the lobby was not maintained by staff at all - it seemed like they filled it up in the morning, and then never again. It was frequently empty or lukewarm, and when we requested them to be refreshed there was a 50/50 chance it wouldn't happen. We'd ask the staff, they'd say "ok" then we'd come back 30 minutes later to find empty carafes. There was one woman working at the front desk who acted quickly when we asked for refreshed hot water, but that was it. We had to ask multiple times every day for the carafes to be refreshed over our 2 night stay. I get that it's off season, but per the front desk who couldn't accommodate our room choice, they were "fully booked." I'd expect better attention to the coffee given the fully booked hotel! The vending machine on the second floor was out of order, and it looked like it had been that way for a while. The sink water in our bathroom took over 5 full minutes to get warm. To speed it up, we had to run the hot water in the shower every time we wanted to get even warm-ish water from our sink. The "continental breakfast" cheerios were stale, and the selection was very limited otherwise. Again, they claimed the hotel was full but the breakfast quantity and options didn't reflect that.I know it's off season for this hotel, but this was one of the most sub-par hotel visits we have had in memory. I would have been happy to pay a price that aligned with the level of service this hotel offered, which we felt was minimal at best. But this wasn't a cheap stay!Food & drinks: No coffee or hot tea in room, and usually empty/cold/unavailable in the hotel lobby. Expensive drinks and snacks available for purchase in room. Vending machine out of order.

Horrible. Ants in my room on the nightstand and bed. It was so disgusting and bad that we had to check out early and find a new hotel to stay in which cost more money. But what actually ruined our vacation was the nasty arrogant attitude of the managers and the refusal to reimburse me the last nights stay when I was forced to leave the hotel. I don't know how they still have a job. They should sleep with ants and see how it feels. I will NEVER step foot in Greenport again. So not worth it. Also, the rooms are extremely dark and dismal.

The room was loud at all hours and excessively hot! We turned on the AC, but the room remained far too warm. There s no way hotel staff isn t aware of this, since the entire third floor was stifling. They charged me for parking, even though I didn t park there. My car was in their lot for 5 minutes while we checked in and dropped off our bags. Hotel staff was aware that we moved the car to the municipal lot. I m waiting on a call back to remediate the over-billing. While the location was great, I wouldn t recommend this hotel, especially at $400/night (after fees).

The hotel is located in the center of Greenport, next to the harbor. Our room was clean, the breakfast was basic, served in the lobby with disposable plastic utensils. The room had a strong smell of dampness, but the traffic noise made it impossible to open the window at night (our King room faced the main street with trucks passing by early in the morning ). The room was also dark, with just 2 bedside lights, a floor lamp and a light in the hallway. The most surprising thing was the extra charges during check out. The hotel charged quite a large amount to our card without our consent, which we had not been informed of in advance. The receptionist explained that they apply an additional 11% rate to reservations that come through intermediaries (agoda, booking, etc.). We've been traveling a lot all over the world and this is the first time we have encountered this situation. And it's a pity that I didn't read more reviews about this before booking. I would not choose this place again and would not recommend.

First time staying at this hotel. Was a little bit nervous after reading some of the reviews, but we booked a total stay of 3 nights (Sept 5 - 8 2023).We called before arriving several times to ask questions and each time, staff professionally answered all our questions.Due to lack of availability, our first night we booked a "Partial Harbor View" Room that came with a balcony. It was exactly as described. Sure, we saw some parking lot but could also see quite a bit of the harbor, which was lovely. The last two nights we were able to book the "Harbor View" room (also had a balcony) which was absolutely amazing! You could see the harbor and shelter island right out the window and it was absolutely stunning. We were also able to enjoy a beautiful sunrise right from our balcony! Both rooms were very clean and had all of the amenities that we needed. The complimentary breakfast was a generous array of coffee, hot tea, bagels, boiled eggs, muffins, yogurts, granola, cereal, apples and bananas which you could freely choose from.We were also able to enjoy the outdoor pool which was clean and had towels on the side for use.The staff were very hospitable and helpful.Location is great as well - transportation (LIRR), restaurants, cafes, and cute shops all in walking distance. We had a wonderful stay and hope to return again in the future. (the pictures included was the view we had from the Harbor View room.)

This was our second stay at the Harbor front hotel (Sept 2023 and Aug 2022). I am surprised by the negative reviews but maybe they are annoyed because it seems they paid full price. We booked a few months ahead and booked directly through the hotel and got a good price. We got a Harborview room with a balcony, and it was exactly as expected by the hotel s web site. Yes, it faced the parking lot, but we also saw the harbor and the carousel and town. If you got a harbor front room then you had full view of the harbor but also being that it was very hot, I was glad to be in the room we had for harbor front rooms had the sun while we had partial shade on our balcony. And I liked also being able to see part of the town from my room. This is a very dog friendly place which was great for us since we had our dog with us and if you compare it to other hotels that are dog friendly this is nicer than most. The breakfast buffet had cereals, muffins, bagels, yogurt, and hard-boiled eggs and fruit. So, while they did not serve a hot meal it was well stocked, and this is not a B&B. The room was clean, and the location is very good, a easy walk to shops, the park and restaurants and the shelter island ferry is close. We had no problem as some other guests had, we arrived slightly earlier than check in and were able to check in right away. And any place on the East End has all the extra charges that some complained about. We would not hesitate to stay again.

During our one night stay there was someone smoking and coughing loudly just outside our window. This happened about every two hours from 9pm to 7am, waking us up from the noise and the smell of cigarette smoke coming into our room through the AC. I attempted to call the front desk but every time I called no one answered. This was because the man who was smoking actually turned out to be the employee who was at the front desk. The next day I spoke to someone while checking out and they said they would take care of the room (they said they knew he smoked and it sounded like it happened before) Not only did they not refund me they also refuted it when I tried to go through Expedia. Absolutely awful service.

Great location. Right next to the Shelter Island Ferry. Book a room with a harbor view. Quaint main street with lots of shops and restaurants. Grab a bike and go for a ride, lots to see, no hills. Super-clean quiet pool. Free light breakfast, coffee in the lobby.Nearby activities: shops, busy town dock and port, restaurants, bars, downtown location.Walkability: Quaint, quiet streets, very walkable, lots to see, lots of places to stop.

Items paid for that didn't exist. Very Expensive. Hidden charges. No view of water, dark lit room, no coffee pot in room, Parking charges ridiculous, no security lighting in parking lot after dark, misled location of beach. I had to contact hotel several times in order to obtain a correct invoice, each invoice was a different amount; many hidden additional charges on total bill.

I want to say first of all, I have been to this property many times in the past and have always enjoyed my stay. This past time, however, the level of service had completely deteriorated. I called the hotel when we were on route to request an early check in and no one answered at the desk (I tried about 5 or 6 times) and there was no way to leave a message. I am 8 months pregnant so I just wanted to see if we could get into the room a little bit earlier to relax before dinner. We arrived around 3 Pm and I told the front desk clerk that I had been calling. He responded that the phones had been very busy that day, while actively not answering the phone that was ringing. He was very rude and said check in is 4 and I'll see you then. We returned promptly at 4 and there was no one at the desk. A line of about 5 rooms worth of people formed and eventually someone showed up around 4:30. We got our keys and headed towards the room, but when we got there, the keys did not work. I walked back to the lobby and waited on line again and received new keys. By this point it was probably about 5 o clock. Upon entering the room, we sat down on the bed and found out that the sheets were wet, more than damp. I would say they needed another 30 minutes in the dryer. I called the front desk, no answer. I walked back down to the desk and was told housekeeping would come change the sheets. About a half hour later, two visibly aggravated women came in and changed the sheets. However, the sheets had been so wet that they made the comforter damp as well. They did not change out the comforter, making the new set of sheets get damp again. When I went back to inquire to speak with a manager, I was told one would not be on site until tomorrow morning and that the manager was the only person who could change our room. They said they would send him a text and about a half hour later, I called back and was told they would comp me 1/3 the room rate. I wasn't pleased but it was better than nothing. The next morning, I spoke with the manager who told me that information was not correct and that since I had booked through a third-party website (chase travel), they could request compensation, but I could not. Well, it's been a week and they have denied chase travel's requests for compensation and caused me the headache of over 3 hours of phone calls trying to get them to even respond to chase travel. Here's to say, I am so disappointed as we really enjoyed our trips out there, but for almost $500 a night, the level of service is remarkably subpar. I would say out of the 4 staff I interacted with, only one of them was not extremely rude and condescending. We will not be back.

My wife and I enjoyed a lovely stay at the Harbor Front Inn located in Greenport, Long Island. We opted for a waterfront view room and were delighted to receive a corner view room that had ample space, was very clean and super bright and airy with windows on two sides. The bed was comfy and the bathrom was nice and large and updated. Our only disapointment was that we didn't feel there was any connection with the staff. Not that anything bad happened, rather there was no interest or interaction at any point whenever we came in contact with somebody at the desk, or on the property. We were checked in and checked out without so much as "where are you visiting from" or "how was your stay". Other than that, I can recommend this hotel as a great location for visits to quaint Greenport, NY.

Paid extra money for a Harbor View room 2 months in advanced through Expedia. We get to the room and see we have a view of the parking lot Front desk tells us we have booked a partial harbor view room. I show her the confirmation email CLEARLY showing I paid for a harbor view room and they blamed the fact I used a 3rd party booking and have to take it up with them. Spent 5 hours of my 1 day trip back and forth between Expedia and the hotel trying to get a refund for the difference in price. Each blame each-other and offer no solution or compensation. Something very off about the way they do business. Was told the original owner sold the hotel and it seems to have gone down hill from there. Will not be staying here again and already warned family and friends of all the issues we had during our 1 night stay. Can t imagine the people who had to stay longer stay anywhere else! You will NOT get what you paid for.

Rooms clean. Beds nice. Had large pillows, which I'm not a fan of.We had a first floor room, windows facing parking lot. It was a bit noisy and people can see right in our room when they park.Location right in town, so convenient and easy to the small town. Breakfast was a very good continental style meal. I'd recommend this if you want to stay right in greenport.

I prepaid 6 months in advance for a harbor view room with a balcony. It was my 25th anniversary so the view was important. I received a confirmation stating that I had a harbor view private balcony. They gave me a room with a view of the parking lot. When I complained they told me room names have changed. The same room I m in is 100 a night cheaper and the room with the view is the same price. They then say the room prices fluctuate and I not only won t be getting my room with a view, but no credit since the room I am in is cheaper than what I paid.Be careful. They have you pre pay and then do NOT give you the room you reserved.

My stay was quite miserable. First experience was getting to my room, in which, had no heat in the winter, and elevator did not work as well. In addition, the gym is is in poor condition. Equipment was not well thought out, and the only treadmill was not working. The staff was very helpful so thankfully there s one positive, as for the rooms, they remind me of an upgraded Motel 6 from the 70s. This hotel would be a great acquisition due to its location, any investors out there?

Parking is not free! It is $25/day.The toilets are amazing machines but they re super loud. The continental breakfast is kinda lame given what their rates. Their breakfast consisted of:coffee/tea/OJ, fruit, oatmeal, bagels, hard boiled eggs, and cream cheese/jam toppings. The shower has 4/5 jets, but only 1 worked. Our room had a mini-fridge, but surprisingly not a coffee machine. The pool is nice.

Beautiful and clean hotel with friendly staff. Rooms were very nice and pretty views. Took off one star because the included breakfast wasn t great and the fitness room was the size of a small guest room with limited equipment and no mirrors (only 2/3 machines in service).

This is simply one of the worst hotels I have stayed at. The staff was non-existent, my room was not cleaned during the stay. The key cards need to be reset daily. The staff locks the doors to main entrances, so if you don t have a key on you, good luck. The bar area was closed for construction, but there was no construction taking place, at all. If you have children, don t waste your time, or money, even if it is in the center of town. There are better options out there.

Let's see.. Paying extra for harbor view and getting a parking lot view unless you lean over the balcony and look to the right you can see the harbor since there's a wall to the right of the balcony. We stayed two nights and beware...$25 parking fee per night. They will tell you there's free parking in a lot behind the shops across the street, but who knows if it's even lighted. Beach Erosion fund added to the bill amounting to $16 per night. City Assesment fee added amounting to $26 per night. AND...an amenity fee.. That's right, the pool, gym and rediculously small contintinental breakfast is not included. That cost and additional $43 per night added on the bill. The room had stains on the carpet, the lobby furniture had stains and food crumbs. Garbage was over flowing in the receptacles outside and inside, especially the lobby bathroom. Clearly not enough staff. At the price they charge, they should consider hiring additional staff!Beware.. A two night stay with a parking lot, umm, harbor view cost a total of $1,370.00!Absolutely no way will I stay here again! We go every year and we'll go back to local Bed and Breakfast's as we did in the past. We thought it would be nice to stay right in the middle of the town which is why I gave two stars because of location only..

Located very close to all restaurants, shops and activities in Greenport. Front desk staff were nice, room was clean with a great shower ( 4 shower heads). Bed was very comfortable. Best thing about the room was the terrace with a view of the harbor. . For thr price the room was basic and lighting wasn't very good.

Great location, nice view, very friendly staff. The room was nice enough and a pretty good size. In particular the bathroom was great with the double shower, and I liked the balcony with views of the harbor. The room was also quiet - couldn t hear the bachelorette group down the hall from our room - could from the hall.It was a bit expensive for what it was. It calls itself a luxury hotel but it didn t feel luxurious. There was an incremental resort fee ($25/night) and the pool wasn t even open yet. Supposedly that covered things like the continental breakfast and the gym - things that regular hotels have included with no resort fee. There was no housekeeping supposedly due to Covid-19 but not sure that makes sense at all. Housekeeping was in the room before I arrived and that was deemed safe. I made a point of sharing at the time of booking that it was my birthday and an anniversary (was there with my husband) but the hotel didn t do anything special to acknowledge that (nice hotels in the past have, eg complimentary bottle of champagne on arrival), which would have been appreciated.
