I had just bought a lifted Excursion from Texas in mint condition and took it to Jim Dean's to have them look at installing a bigger lift because the 37" tires were slightly rubbing. I left the vehicle overnight and they called a day or 2 later to pick it up. I went to pick it up and they gave me options of cutting the fenders or going to 35 inch tires or possibly an 8" bds would work but not guaranteed. This was my toy vehicle not my everyday driver so I took it home and parked it until I made my decision on what to do. A few weeks later I was cleaning my boat which was parked next to truck & standing in my boat which is higher than the truck and notice the roof is damaged and cracked and the luggage bars smashed. This vehicle has not been anywhere else besides Dean's and I'm confident when they put it on the lift they ran it into the ceiling and never said a word. I sent them an email and they never even responded.Service: Steering & suspension repair

Jim dean left my truck incomplete. Jim failed to tell me when I signed up for an 8 bds lift on my truck, that they don t do alignments there. Which it took me over 15 calls to find someone that could actually do an alignment on a lifted truck with in two weeks. Jim knew I use my truck for work, so I was left truckless which means no income for 2 weeks. I traveled over an hour to have Jim work on my truck, which means I had to drive over an hour to get home on new tires with an unaligned front end, which did damage my tires a little.I finally got the truck home after a very sketchy drive and noticed there were a couple skid plates loose. Not an issue by itself other than I would ve been really mad if a bolt fell out and my tire picked it up, but this lead me to wonder if anything else was loose so I looked up the torque specifications recommended by the manufacturer (bds). Not a single bolt on the lift kit was torqued to spec. I questioned jim on this and he said oh no one does that, we just tighten them down with an impact . There is a reason why the engineers that design the kit recommend torque specs. It s a real safety issue. It s amazing this guy has been in business so long.Services: Tires, Steering & suspension repair

Called these guys to get a set of rims for my truck, and I gave my info to one guy and he said he would call me back. 2 hrs goes by, I called to check in, and see if they had any info for me, I gave them size, offset, lug pattern and even didn't care what they looked like as long as they worked. When I called back to check in, I said "yes I called for a set of rims for my truck about two hours ago" And normally someone in good customer service would ask for info again. So the guys response was, "I don't know what you have I get about 100 calls a day" in a very disrespectful tone of voice. Sounds like they don't have time for customers, which is what they are there for CUSTOMER SERVICE. good luck feeling good about buying stuff from Jim Dean's . As if we aren't feeling guilty enough buying something we don't necessarily need

From the time I walked in the door. I was treated like my truck needs were the most important thing. Time frame to start work was pretty fast. Jim Dean was very helpful, knowledgeable, and honest.

Not only were they fast, and did a great job but also came in much cheaper than other shops. Look no further than Jim Dean for lift kits and tires. I have brought back my other work trucks for tires and suspension modifications. Customer for life here.

I never write bad reviews, but this one was needed after contemplating about doing it each day after driving it off their lot 2.5 months ago, along with the problems that followed. I was referred there by a friend who I m guessing got lucky with his Jeep lift. This is the worst service we ve ever had done on any vehicle that we ve ever owned that I wanted to customize. I wasted a good amount of money & time on our truck there.Main issue:The owner/operator puts his barely legal kid on lift assignments that he really doesn t seem to care much about. So, he ll let his son use your vehicle as his laboratory to Trial & Error it appears. The father/owner also doesn t look over his kids work when the work is supposedly finished and ready. I trusted that his son should know much and how to do this type of work if his pops owns the business but I was wrong. I m not sure if they re ASE Certified!Right Off The Bat;They couldn t get me in for over an entire week for an appointment. (Not due to popularity) SHOCKS 1st mechanical issue was because of the driver side shock absorber NOT even being bolted down and was missing a bushing. It was hard to drive it off the lot without the shock mount sounding like it was going to rattle apart after hitting a quarter sized pot hole. We drove the truck back within 1hr after finding that issue in our driveway in the dark and left 2 VOICE MAILS. So, we end up having to drive our other vehicle all the way back across the city from where this place is.Next day, hrs upon hrs went by and they didn t even return the call about why the truck was still there and if anything was wrong (Remember the Voicemails) so I HAD TO CALL THEM!!! The owner answered and acted totally lost about the work that was done and just passed the phone to Jr to handle since he was the one who did our lift kit. While passing the phone over he whispered everything I just tried telling him to his son. They apparently fixed it for the time being, which was a simple task to fix anyways, but it was very inconvenient WHEEL SPACERS Nonetheless, we had to bring it back a 2nd time. We brought the truck back to his shop again due to the upper control arms (left/right) of the front suspension seriously digging into the interior walls of the front tires and was in need of wheel spacing. This made the truck pretty hard to drive ever since having them do the suspension. Oddly, Jr. did mention that the truck would need spacers if we were going to do any off roading and also that the new tires I purchased from them wouldn t allow me to have much turning radius. This was odd to me because I wondered why would you allow me to drive away with NOW having limitations??? I contemplated and asked why they just didn t put it on anyways for proper clearance and add it to the bill if I agreed to the work. He said they would have to order it. So, I told him to order them for me so they could put them on and he said okay and that he d call me as soon as they came in. THEY NEVER CALLED...(My patience was miraculously still alive) LUG NUT LOCKS I had mentioned to them already that we would be out of town and that I d like to have the work done when we returned. I finally just called them when we got back in town and after understanding that they DID forget to call us (maybe I trust people too much who appear to be pros) for an entire 3 wks. I was going to do the work myself as my trust was thinning out. They apologized so I brought it in anyways since they did say they had the spacers. The spacers were really cheap and lame when Jr showed me. I seen much better on the internet worth the price listed. The lug locks Jr switched out with my regular ones caused the studs to only pick up a little thread on the lug nut locks, currently making driving uncomfortable and unsafe for my family as the wheel can come right off while driving in due time.Choose wisely out there. I chalked it up already as a loss.
