Charlie and his team are top notch mechanics. They rebuilt a 53 flathead six for my 47 wd15 dodge; installed it, re-wired/did a 12v conversion and fixed the brakes on my truck. From start to finish Charlie was in constant communication whenever he found an issue and presented different options on how they could handle it depending on my budget. My truck runs better than it ever did.I had called several places before settling on Thomas Engine as Charlie was the only one willing to complete the entire job vs doing just an engine rebuild. Most places I called either gave me a quote but really didn t want to take on the job due to the engines age or they just never called back. The work at Thomas Engine is fantastic and if you use them you will completely satisfied with the result.

Charlie and the team fixed my 2009 Jeep Grand Cherokee twice. In 2021, the engine was rebuilt, and Charlie has since become my regular mechanic. In every experience, Charlie kept me updated on the progress and communicated exactly what was wrong with the car. As a young woman who is not a mechanic, he made it easy to understand. Charlie also provided resources for me to look up information and educate myself on the mechanics of my car. I cannot thank the team enough for the quality service and care for my car.

Thomas Auto Engine Rebuilders helped me out after my newly purchased 1959 Oldsmobile Dynamic 88 arrived in NY after breaking down in Canada -- all after allegedly getting a clean bill of health up there to drive it. Charlie and his team got the car running, and diagnosed problems with the Choke, fuel system and a Valve cover gasket that made her operational again. He explained everything he was doing and more importantly WHY he was doing it. With his old-school and classic car knowledge he will be my go-to for this car from here on out. Grateful for his talents and the talent of his team.

If you are looking for honesty, experience and great service, then look no further, Thomas Auto Engine Rebuilders is your place. Charlie and staff are the ones to go to with any Auto issue. Everything is explained in detail no run around service and all your worries that other mechanics might leave you with are out the door at this shop. Had my truck serviced there and I must say that I could not have been more satisfied. Charlie the owner is a stand up guy and a pleasure to do business with. Before I met Charlie I was at 2 to mechanic shops they said they could fix my car they told me 2 different answers, I was so frustrated then I called Thomas machine. He was really booked up but he fit me in....For all the single women out there please use Charlie he is honest and if its your only car he will help to get it fixed right away. He took my car and told me with in a hr it's theAlternator it was done the next day my car is a 1985 Volvo it runs beautiful Thankyou Charlie and your staff!He is my new favorite person to fix my car and to all you guys out therHe fix fixes classical carsAnd rebuild enginesThank you CharlieI'm so glad we met

The gentlemen at Thomas Auto were able to breathe new life into my boat. In need of an engine rebuild, i received several outrageous quotes. Some for more than the value of the boat! Fortunately i found Charlie and the gentlemen at Thomas Auto. Their price was fair and the workmanship is second to none. My boat runs like new and they were nice enough to fix several things i didn t even know were broken. In an industry where you find a lot of crooks. You can rest assured that the gentlemen at Thomas Auto will repair your vehicle professionally and contientously. Thank you again to Charlie and the guys at Thomas Auto for a great job!

I own a 1951 Willys Wagon that was in need of an engine rebuild, Charlie and his team did an outstanding job of sourcing the parts and doing the rebuild. In addition they re-wired the entire vehicle and recently did the king pins, replaced the steering box and rear leaf springs. They are excellent mechanics and fair businessmen

I had my 2003 Ford Expedition's engine rebuilt at Thomas Auto Engine Rebuilders and had an excellent experience. The owner Charlie explained the process and made sure everything was done right the first time. He even followed up with me to make sure everything was ok months after the work was done. You can't say that about alot of places out there. Im so glad I found this place and I won't be taking my vehicle anywhere else.

Charlie had my 2003 boat for four months and charged me for a freshly rebuilt 454 marine motor. He removed our Freshwater cooled OEM 350 MAG MPI engine and installed a used mid 1990 s carb saltwater cooled motor with a fresh coat of paint without disclosing any of this to me prior to installing it. When job was completed I had the boat hauled to the water and immediately experienced an overheating issue. Took it to local marine mechanic who took one look and told me there was no way the motor was rebuilt due to its condition and apparent old gaskets which could be seen from the engine top. $2000 later the overheat issue was fixed and the boat was back on the water. As far as I m concerned, Charlie is a con artist and thief who doesn t stand behind his work whatsoever. Avoid at all costs! I am not a mechanic and was promised the world and taken for a ride.

I have been bringing all my cars over the last 20 years to Thomas Auto Engine, and have always been completely satisfied. Whether it has been something as simple as an oil change or major engine work, Thomas Auto Engine Rebuilders have always been honest, fair and trustworthy.They even take some of their own time to let me know what to watch out for in the future, so I will not be stranded on the side of the road someday.I highly recommend this establishment to anyone with automotive or for that matter auto marine needs.

Great experience. I had Charlie rebuild my 390 engine, 4 speed transmission and rear end for my 1967 mustang fastback. Not only did everything turn out great but Charlie gave me a call a few months after the rebuild just to see how everything was running and I was in the middle of dropping in an msd ignition an had a wiring problem. Charlie came out to my house which is an hour east of his shop on a Sunday morning to help me diagnose it on his day off free of charge.. I told him it wasn't necessary but his answer was "this is my engine i take great pride in making sure they run well" for me that goes longer in my book than anything. For me it takes alot to hand over my prized possession but what makes it ok is that when You shake this man's hand he delivers on his promises...a complete gentleman..

I cant begin this review with out recognizing everyone at Thomas Auto, Charlie, Michael and Alicia. My 1971 Datsun 240Z was a mess. The Houston Texas company that was responsible for the shoddy work had no answers when I called just to get information as to what work was performed. My Mechanic John at J&B Auto in Oyster Bay recommended Thomas Auto, and I gave them the ok. I was allowed to visit and see the mess and then the progress first hand. Every detail every part was meticulously considered and ordered. The process took weeks but the end results were worth the time and care given by these professional. My test drive reaffirmed my belief that you do your due diligence before you invest, but when you do the pay off is overwhelming and I am fortunate to be able to find and recommend this company to all my friends in the Datsun 240Z club of Long Island and the many affiliates we are associated with in the 240Z communityAgain Thank you Thomas Auto and especially Charlie. you work is expert and exceptional.Sincerely,Richard SadisLocust Valley NY

I have been working with Thomas Auto Engine Rebuilders since the early 80's. He is my go to Machinist for all my engine projects. I have built a couple for engines with them over the years and they always exceed my expectations. I recommend him to anyone building any kind of engine.

I gave my car to Thomas to work on and a shop before took money from me and didnt do the work at all.Charlie took the job and he made sure everything was done in a timely manner and it was quality work done .I highly recommend this shop.

They are thieves I brought my engine for him to diagnose if it can be repaired he told me from day one we will diagnose your engine and the cost is 300.00 I was fine with it then when he told me it couldn't be repaired the deal was I will come pay the 300.00 and pick up my engine so I thought I was getting all my parts back I didn't I brought my engine for another diagnosis and my new mechanic told me he can do the job for 2,500 when Thomas was charging me 9,500 and my parts were missing he stole my pistons & my oil pump when I asked him where are my pistons he said he threw them out dont trust them they overcharge and are thieves how do you throw away parts that are valued at $1,000 he's a liar and I want him to replace py missing parts.

Unless you can afford to pay twice as much as the estimate and can have another means of transportation because they will tie your truck up for 6 months, "DON'T" go there!
