I went to get my car inspected, but the mechanic was busy chatting with someone who wasn't a customer. (which is ok) He quickly asked for $50 and started the inspection. I thought it should be $37, so I said something. Even though he said the price went up, I didn't give in. Then he said my license plate was peeling, but I knew it was just scratched. He finally gave in when he saw I wouldn't change my mind. I went to another place nearby to get it done without any more problems. He tried to overcharge me, but he backed down when I questioned him.Honesty is a repeat business!

Shaw has been working on my wife's 2005 Subaru since we moved here last year. Good turn around time and very communicative. He is an honest mechanic that actually knows his stuff. We have spent thousands of dollars in other shops with "mechanics" who didn't know what they were doing and charged us for work that we didn't need. Shaw always knows exactly what is wrong and wont recommend unnecessary work to be done. His prices are good and he warranty's his work on your car. If you're around Amityville/Copiague area I highly recommend that you stop in, even for just an inspection. I would give more than 5 stars if I could. He just inspected my Oldsmobile and I will be returning to him for all work I need done.

I needed to get the state inspection done and Shaw Auto was the only place that did it and was near enough my work for me to drop my car off and walk. Shaw called me about an hour later to let me know a bunch of repairs needed to be done. He gave me very fair prices and was able to get them all done before my work day was over. When I went to pick it up, he showed me all the parts he had to replace. I ve been looking for a while for a one stop shop and a mechanic that I can trust and I finally found it.

I had, what I thought would have been a simple fix, my hood would not close due to the lever damaged inside the cabin which releases the beginning of the hood mechanism. I went to several stores to see if they had the particular lever for my vehicle (2000 Mercury Grand Marquis) rather old but still in good working condition, every place I went they did not carry the part or they had a simulation but not the original. Gladly, I did not buy the part which was cheaply made and the only guarantee was to be unreliable. I went to a few mechanics who did not entertain the business, they put walls in front of me. I remembered, nearby my working place a mechanic which I frequently passed by (Shaw Auto Repair Inc.), thought I take a chance and see what would be the outcome, it was a Saturday and I arrived at Shaw Auto Repair Inc. in the afternoon, I was surprised to be greeted by the owner himself Shaw, he was quick to understand my situation and even more satisfying to educate me in the repair process, Shaw educated me in understanding how critical it is to buy original parts in fact, Shaw will not repair a car unless the parts used or the original made by the manufacturer, everything else he would not guarantee because, his years of experience has thought him and his clients to always utilize original parts. Amazing, not only did I meet an honest Mechanic but one that welcomes my particular situation, he soon made me feel like I had no worries and the problem will be fixed. On Monday I called Shaw and he said he had the part and he told me to bring the car over, so I did and went back to my place in a few hours I went to pick up the car and was totally satisfied with the outcome and quite honestly the price for the repair was very modest. I have to say to all Shaw is an excellent mechanic with outstanding knowledge and my favorite characteristic is his honesty. Thank you Shaw for your persona.

Wow! Excellent service. Shaw is an excellent mechanic who is honest and tries his best to save his customers money wherever he can. I have been going to Shaw for years and have always been pleased with the excellent and timely manner in which he repairs my vehicles. He is a good mechanic however his prices are quite higher than most mechanics.If you have the money I recommend the place but if you want to save some bucks I recommend you do a quote in at least 3 other places near you.

Shaw saved my life.Living in this area for over 10 years, I've had the worst luck finding a reliable and trustworthy mechanic. Found a guy years ago in Wyandanch, but he sold the business a year later. Needless to say, my van has slowly suffered over time. Going all the way back to Brooklyn and Queens for a mechanic was something I had done in the past, but I was tired of the inconvenience.My van had been making squealing noises, it was due for an oil change, an inspection, and my wife needed to specifically use it this weekend. Two weeks prior, I had taken the van to the dealership because there were some issues that I was aware of and I thought they would be best to fix it. WRONG!!! My van sat there nearly a week before they gave me any findings. When they started throwing me numbers that only pertained to parts, something told me I should to Google a mechanic in my area.One of the first to pop up was Shaw. I called him, and on the phone he let me know that he was able to work on every aspect of my vehicle, with over 25 years experience in the business. Long story short, he gave me great answers and a vibe that gave me confidence in his work.I ran to the dealership to get my van, for which they charged an arm and a leg to just look at it. I brought it straight to Shaw, and expressed that my wife needed the van done before the weekend. He said he would do it all, make sure it was all safe, and include a warrantee for the parts and work done.Friday came, he called me to let me know it was all done, and to bring my wife so we could both see the work he had done. We could visibly see the work and care Shaw put in to our van. The pricing was also super reasonable. There was no surprise charges, as he presented an itemized invoice with work hours, prior to starting the job.This van being an '07 Sienna, that we bought used in '13 from a dealership in Brooklyn, now drives better than it ever has! To top it all off, Shaw saved my life by having this van ready for my wife to use on Saturday.I can finally say, after over 10 years of searching, I HAVE A MECHANIC!!!Thanks again Shaw. God bless.

Probably the most friendly encounter I have had with a mechanic. I went in for an inspection and probably am leaving with a long term mechanic. They are capable of working with newer cars and have some great equipment. They also do excellent work and are honest which is one of the most important things for me. Give Shaw Auto Repair a chance you won t regret it!

Leave the big jobs to the pros! I took my Hummer H3 to Shaw Auto Repair for work on the front end. I was looking for a knowledgeable, professional mechanic, in close distance to my home. Im glad to have found this shop. I was treated with honesty and respect, the repair costs were reasonable and transparent, and the work was done in a timely manner. I will continue to bring my automobiles to Shaw and I recommend this shop to anyone in the area looking for guys who do good work. -Mike F

Great place. The owner is so nice,honest and very reasonable I go here yearly for my inspections and I know he will always do a thorough check on my car. Visited Shaw Auto for a NY Inspection. They fixed a couple of lights that were out and the inspection went smoothly. They were very friendly and helpful. Will return in the future.

Brought my Jeep in for a routine inspection and little did I know some of the underlying problems my vehicle had. Shaw Auto Repair was able to repair the problems quickly and at a reasonable price in order for me to get back on the road again, thanks!.

I took my car to Shaw Auto Repair that baldy needed repairs because in the pass i went to a few other shops who couldn't fix it.They did an excellent job very courtious and reasonable....and would highly recommend this shop...Thank you Shaw Auto Repair for a job well done !!!.

Was always skeptical of auto mechanics. Not anymore! Very honest, reliable, reasonable service. Treat you like family. Been there three times for different services and always left satisfied. Wou I do highly recommend all skeptics to try this shop. You wI'll not be disappointed!

I had a issues with my 02 sensor , prior Manchanic couldn t find the problem, took it to Shaw, within a hour I got a call from him and said the problem was fixed ... his diagnostic is on point ...

Thief. He double charges for the parts to add to his profit, when I got my truck back it was leaking from the engine cooling line because they had obviously leaned on it and bent it, then tried to charge me to fix it after trying to charge me $600 for a $250 job
