I work across the street and needed a muffler repair. I called and spoke to the owner Khalid who was very friendly and knowledgeable. The staff was great and they were able to have my car fixed and ready for me to ride home. Honest pricing and great, fast work. Just went in for an oil change. No one at the front desk. Waited for about 5 minutes, then I moved over toward a door looking into the back. A man looked at me then went back to doing what he was doing. Never again.

In this area there are several auto body and repair shops in a row which makes it easy to compare prices and get multiple estimates (if your car is still running).A neighboring shop wanted around 50% more money to do the same repair. I informed the owner of North Star that I wanted a second opinion because my previous estimate seemed high.Because the price quoted was so reasonable here compared to the other shop, as well as being a good deal based on research using online pricing tools, I chose North Star.The work was done at precisely the price quoted. The staff even did some additional work in removing and repositioning a stuck seat, a somewhat difficult project that they did not even charge me labor for.The car is running better than ever after a week of having it back. Feels smooth and nimble again even at 152k.All around good experience.Highly recommended.

Very honest, kind, and knowledgeable mechanic who cares about your car and your well being over his profits. He s worked on my car for a couple of years. He always explains in layman s terms what s the problem with the car is, so you understand and know what to look for in the future. He s able to fix your car usually quickly (in the same day sometimes if you get in early) and gets the parts needed usually in a very short amount of time. My family and I trust him whole heartedly. You will too.

I have yet to have the pleasure of using North Star but my close friend has and she told me the service was fantastic. The owner was kind and very professional and she paid exactly what was quoted. I would not hesitate to use North Star.

Excellent staff that took me right away with an emergency situation. I was so grateful for their honesty and reasonable cost. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for a good mechanic with integrity.

Went to North Star today for the first time without an appointment for a NYS inspection and I was out of there in less than a 1/2 hour! Staff was friendly & efficient and the waiting area was welcoming with free fresh coffee and TV. I would definitely recommend them.

Went for an inspection, engine light and multiple other lights were on the display, which I knew the reason...The guy tells me the inspection will fail, he resets the computer, and says I need to travel 40-50 miles to cycle through, because the inspection will fail. I was ok with that. But told him the reason the check engine was on, but he kept telling me it was the catalytic converter and it will cost thousands of dollars to fix. Now I'm pissed off. Subsequently, I go to Mavis in West Nyack to get my inspection done, and low and behold, it passes. I told the guy who did it, what had happened yesterday, and he laughed. Said everything was fine with the inspection. So the guy at Northstar is a crook and is looking for business, just off of an inspection. I'll never use him again. '

Well respected mechanic in the area. Have nothing bout good things to say about this place. Very fair and reasonable. Note that he had been on Congers Lake road previously and is thus not new to the area.
